This is the second book in a series centered around PIs Jackson Jones and Mackenzie Cunningham. They have once again teamed up to solve a case with a large prize.

I found the second book in the series to be more entertaining than the first even though it was still as unbelievable. I think part of that is this one was much shorter so there were less antics. I also think the two characters and their romance are growing on me!!!

I found this book to be fun if a little ridiculous. Loved the cliff hanger and looking forward to the next one!

Many thanks to Atria Books, NetGalley, and authors Pamela Young & Dwayne Smith for providing an ARC.

This is the second book in the series, and I enjoy it for what it is—fast-paced with modern-day Mr. & Mrs. Smith energy. The action is fun, and the dynamic between the leads keeps things interesting.

That said, the romance girlie in me is getting impatient—like, when are y’all finally going to kiss and get together?! I need the tension to pay off soon.

I listened to the first book on audio and loved the narrators, so I know this one will shine in that format too. Overall, a solid read with great potential, especially if the romance arc gets moving.

This was a quick read. I really thought this was a romance, but not exactly. This is perfect for fans of “who done it” mysteries! Although I wanted a little more tension between the two main characters, I would love to see Jackson and McKenzie get together. Although they are very different, I think there is quite a bit of chemistry there.

I was very excited for this follow up from Pamela Samuels Young and Dwayne Alexander Smith! I really enjoyed the first book in this series, and it was great to be reunited with these characters.

This was quite enjoyable and such a quick read! I didn't see a lot of the twists coming, and I am looking forward to the next installment!

Thank you to Net Galley and Atria Books for providing an eARC of this book. I enjoyed this book and was intrigued from the very beginning. The banter and sarcasm was good and helped carry the story along. The main characters are Jackson and Mackenzie, a PI duo, that’s being forced to help 3 crime bosses retrieve some very important information that they are being blackmailed with.

There are so many twist and turns but they make the story interesting and engaged, so much so I didn’t stray too far from my kindle. This story is fast paced, funny and jam packed with action, my only con is that it was a bit predictable. I wasn’t aware that this was apart of a series and honestly you don’t need to read the first installment to follow along. There are some instances where things were referenced from the first book but it was easy enough to read between the lines and not feel like you’re missing out on key information.

Overall, this was a solid read and I can’t wait for the next book.

This was a very fast paced, funny, and enjoyable read. I appreciated being given the chance to read the first book before picking this one up, and I feel horrible my review is late.

I know its been mentioned by a few people, but I did miss the almost.. more playful dynamic I felt the first book had, but in terms of sequels, this one has still left me excited for the 3rd book.

Jackson/MacKenzie are back again.
THis time dealing with the mob and looking to find and return a missing package

This book has the banter I long for but the "Will they/won't they" was not as compelling
Series is really good
Like an Evanovich with a more serious tone

This was such an intriguing read. I hadn’t realized it was going to have some mystery and action packed vibes but I’m here for it! The banter was so funny and I love the duo of Jackson and Mac. I didn’t know this was the second book of a series so I’m going to go and read the first one too.

Jackson Jones and Mackenzie Cunningham have joined forces and are now Safe and Sound Investigations. Work was slow until the Black crime boss Big Ced, along with the Jewish and Mexican mob bosses, ask for their help. The lawyer that they had been using has incriminating evidence against them and they want it found. This was a request that Jones and Mac could not refuse, no matter how much they wanted to. As they start to investigate where the evidence might be, they noticed that wherever they went someone was following them or had been ahead of them . So a possible traitor in the mob families ranks?
A fast paced enjoyable mystery, the second in the Jones and Cunningham series. It has crime bosses, government agencies , a great hacker, a masked man on their trail and life threatening situations. until the final showdown.
Thank you NetGalley and Atria for the opportunity to read this e-galley of "Sounds Like Trouble".

This was a great second installment in the series. The banter between Mack and Jackson is the perfect levity for the high-stakes moments of this book, and I loved getting to see more of the side characters from the first installment. This fast-paced investigation felt cinematic at times, and I would love to see these characters on the screen solving crime while falling in love and cracking jokes.. Fun series, and I hope there's another in the works!

Sounds Like Trouble is a pulse-pounding, fast-talking detective story that grabs you from page one and refuses to let go. With a rhythm as relentless as its action scenes, the book throws readers headfirst into a world of mob threats, shady deals, police pressure, and complicated feelings between two private investigators with chemistry that crackles off the page.

In this second installment of the series, Mackenzie Cunningham and Jackson Jones, PIs with sharp instincts and sharper banter, are strong-armed into tracking down a mysterious, high-stakes package by none other than infamous gangster Big Ced and the other two big mob bosses, Meza and Biof. What follows is a whirlwind chase through Los Angeles’ glitzy neighborhoods, with danger at every corner and a persistent police officer on their trail, one who happens to catch Mackenzie's eye, much to Jackson's chagrin.

Even without having read the first book (Sounds Like a Plan), the story stands strong on its own, with well-crafted character dynamics and a plot that twists and turns in all the right ways. The tension, emotional and otherwise, between Mac and Jackson keeps things spicy, and their witty, flirtatious banter adds an irresistible layer to the gritty noir vibe.

The collaboration between Pamela Samuels Young and Dwayne Alexander Smith proves to be a winning formula, delivering a story that’s equal parts thrilling, funny, and surprisingly heartfelt. With rapidfire pacing, cinematic action, and unforgettable characters, Sounds Like Trouble earns its place alongside the best in the crime and detective genre.

Mac and Jackson are a duo to watch, and I, for one, can’t wait to see what kind of trouble they find next.

This book opens with a double abduction of the main characters, both PIs in relationship limbo, and the action doesn't slow down. It just hits the throttle and keeps moving.

"Here's to dodging explosives."
"And ex-wives."

If fast-paced sexy mysteries are your thing, this is absolutely the read for you.

"It can't be that easy."
"Unfortunately, it is."

The second book in this series. Jackson and Mac have another case to solve, will they solve it before anyone is killed?

Two opposites. Undeniable attraction. Three mobsters. An offer they can’t refuse. It sounds like trouble as Jackson Jones and Mackenzie Cunningham, reluctant partners and two of the best private investigators in Los Angeles, return to solve their most dangerous case yet.

Jackson Jones and Mackenzie “Mac” Cunningham can’t agree on anything. After coming close to death on their last case, the two have decided to team up but they can’t even decide on how to furnish their new office. Jackson wants to make a big splash. Mackenzie just wants a desk and some filing cabinets to clean up the mess. Before they can reach a truce on the decor, the two PIs get an offer they have no choice but to accept: infamous gangster Big Ced and two of his mafia dons want them to track down a package. Or else.

This was a great read, funny and fast paced.

I ended up DNFing it. It just wasn't the book for me, despite loving the blurb on the back and the artwork.

Sounds Like Trouble is the second book in the Sounds Like a Plan series but can definitely be read as a standalone book. It follows Jackson and Mackenzie, two private investigators in LA who are trying to solve their most dangerous case yet. It was filled with mystery, lots of action, and a slow burn romance. There was a lot going on in the book and at times I found it a little hard to follow. I also thought the romance aspect could have been fleshed out a bit more. With that said, I would still read more by these authors in the future.

Jackson Jones and Mackenzie “Mac” Cunningham are mismatched private investigators—he’s flashy, she’s grounded—and they rarely see eye to eye. Their latest job throws them into a dangerous chase through Los Angeles, hunting down a mysterious package for notorious mob boss Big Ced and his mafia allies. Complicating things, the LAPD is hot on their trail, and a flirtation between Mac and a police officer stirs jealousy in Jackson.

Both investigators are separately hired by the mob, tied to an old blackmail scheme now at risk of being exposed due to the blackmailer’s hospitalization. With a failsafe set to leak incriminating data, multiple parties are racing to find it first. As a masked assassin stalks them and tension with the police escalates, the danger intensifies.

Despite their differences, Jackson and Mac share a mutual respect and unresolved romantic tension, adding emotional depth to the high-stakes action. Their contrasting personalities make for entertaining conflict, and their resilience and chemistry hint at a compelling future—professionally and perhaps personally.

Such a cute, cozy read, I can't wait for another installment to see what this pair gets up to!

Sounds Like Trouble is the second installment in a series about two private investigators opening their firm in LA. It was a quick and easy read that gave me the same vibes as a fun NBC cop show. There are two authors, but the writing blended well to make it not feel that way. They added some bickering between the two main characters that felt very realistic and definitely strengthened the likeness of the story.

I don’t think the story benefited from having dual POV since they were together most of the book, but I think the biggest issue was the lack of editing. I’m hoping since it was an ARC, that they will release a final version. Examples of this were that the POVs got mixed up and the same sentence was written twice in a row. Also, I think one time they mixed up the ex-wife’s and the daughter’s names. Overall, I think the plot was decent and the characters were alright, if you can get past the fact that they are kind of bad at their jobs.

This was a fast fun read. The audio was great with the duel narration and I really enjoyed how this was a lot of action where I had no idea where it would go next! The ending was so unpredictable and fun! I recommend if you’re looking for something unique and fast paced!

The second book in this series improves upon the first, with Jackson seeming slightly less terrible, and plenty of high stakes situations and risky moves alongside moments that feel more hijink inspired. This is fun to read.
