Violet and Aly are best friends. They are both struggling with personal issues. Violet is struggling with her ex boyfriend showing back up in her life. Aly is still reeling from the loss of her mother.
I enjoyed Violet and Aly. Both these young ladies have strong opinions. But they are also flawed…in a human way. They make human mistakes. This just endears the reader to both.
I did fluctuate between 3 and 4 stars on this one. But the ending is so very good. I moved it up to 4. It does have some mundane details in this novel. But I love a family drama and this one has secrets and a few intense battles.
Need a tale set in the Lowcountry of South Carolina…THIS IS IT! Grab your copy today.
I received this novel from the publisher for a honest review.

We return to Charleston and Sullivan’s Island in Victoria Benton Frank’s second installment of her Low Country Tales. Perfect for a summer read as the author opens your senses to beauty of this coastal region. Two friends, Violet and Aly, are coming to grips with different types of loss in their lives. Because of (or in spite of) family and friends, the healing process for both make their journey an enjoyable experience for the reader. There is some spice, but overall a good Southern women’s fiction book. I think it’s safe to say that Victoria Benton Frank has good writing genes inherited from her mother Dorothea who was a favorite author of mine. I’m hoping for another Low Country Tales soon!
Thanks to Netgalley and Gallery Books for this arc.

The Violet Hour is a sequel of sorts to My Magnolia Summer, but this could probably be read as a standalone, too. This book follows Violet, the younger sister and introduces Aly, Violet's best friend. Following Violet as she navigates what she truly wants and Aly as she navigates the loss of her mother and her father dating an awful woman, there was a lot of room for funny moments, but poignant ones as well. If you love images of the Lowcountry, friendships and laughter, this one is a must read. Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for a chance to read this one early in exchange for an honest review.

I loved My Magnolia Summer!
Of course I didn’t hesitate requesting The Violet Hour by Victoria Benton Frank.
TVH had my heart from the first page.
This book is an entertaining summer beach read. The story is beautifully written and the setting is what captured my attention along with the charming characters.
With stunning descriptions of the magic of the Lowcountry, this novel will transport you to a world of treasured family traditions and unexpected twists of fate.
Victoria writes of family, love, and all that is the Lowcountry, but in a fresh way and presented in a voice uniquely her own.
I was immediately sucked into this story and place with this family and if I’m being honest I didn’t want to leave. She captured the true Southern low-country life perfectly.
Frank’s writing is vibrant, creative and charming- I enjoyed it so much.
If you love good women's fiction novels with wit and drama and romance then you’ll love this novel.
Thank You NetGalley and Gallery Books for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!

The Violet Hour is a delightful work of Southern fiction by Victoria Benton Frank. It is the second in a series, but will work as a standalone. I enjoyed the Charleston setting, food themes, and female friendships. I highly recommend it!
Synopsis:

Thanks to NetGalley and Gallery Books for the advanced digital copy of the book.

The Violet Hour is the perfect beach/ poolside read to end your summer reading! It has just the right amount of southern flair and drama to make you laugh and be annoyed all within a matter of seconds. It will have you flipping the pages so quickly to find out how it ends.
Thank you Netgalley and Gallery for this e-ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Of course, I loved this book with its Lowcountry setting, likable characters, family drama, and romance. This is such an enjoyable book. If you love southern fiction, this is a book you need to read. Thanks to author Victoria Benton Frank, Gallery Books, and NetGalley. I received a complimentary copy of this ebook. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

Violet Adams is the youngest in a line of strong-willed women, living on Sullivans Island in the Lowcountry of SC. Building her brand as a wedding photographer, she is finally getting enough jobs to think of moving out of living with her grandmother. When her ex-boyfriend moves back into town from a 2 year stint in Japan, she must examine her feelings for him and for examine her life, and what she really she wants. Best friends Jim and Aly are there to give her support, as is her older sister Maggie, who we met in the author’s first novel, My Magnolia Summer. Although overall I enjoyed this novel, I didn’t find it as enjoyable as the first. There were several places where the flow just wasn’t there - since I read an ARC, hopefully editing will have solved those issues. Still, the plot just didn’t ring true for me for some reason. But if you’re looking for a book with a Lowcountry theme, you might enjoy this one.

This heartwarming novel transported me to Charleston and Sullivan's Island to learn more about Violet’s journey and that of her best friend Aly. Violet and Aly are both at a crossroads where they are making major decisions in their careers and personal lives. Violet is dealing with family secrets while Aly is facing a lot of family drama following the death of her famous mother, Callie.
The Violet Hour is an armchair coastal vacation where family saga meets romance in the perfect beach read. I loved the extra emotional depth focusing on loss and change, with vividly drawn characters and an atmospheric gorgeous setting of island beaches and Charleston architecture. It immerses the reader into Southern charm, culture, and food. I adored this book and highly recommend adding it to your beach bag to hold on to summer a little longer. Ann Patchett, Elin Hilderbrand, and Patti Callahan Henry also recommend it! Now to schedule a trip to South Carolina! Victoria Benton Frank's writing has added it to my bucket list!🏖☀️💜
Many thanks to NetGalley, Gallery Books, and Victoria Benton Frank for an advance reader's copy and finished copy in exchange for my honest review.

This is the second novel in Victoria Benton Frank's Lowcountry series. Violet is still grieving a personal tragedy and a separation from her partner; and trying to find herself again when the novel opens. Aly, Violet's bestie and second main character and POV, is also recently overcome with grief and trying to find her place in this world. These two strong southern women over the course of the novel bond so deeply- the reader becomes enraptured with their complex family dynamics and turns the pages quickly as both of their relationships flame and fizzle.
Although there are characters from My Magnolia Summer, this book can be read as a standalone.
*Special thanks to NetGalley and Gallery Books for this digital e-arc.*

Victoria does it again – another great snapshot into family sagas of the south set in Charleston. This is a second book in the series (book 1 starts us off with My Magnolia Summer). The relationships felt authentic. I found myself rooting for the characters, which is a portrayal of strong, female relationships that I really gravitate towards. This family saga will sweep you away to summers in Charleston, all you need is your toes in the sand.
Thank you to Netgalley and Gallery Books for the early copy to review!

This story is beautifully told. It reminded me of her mother’s work which shows the incredible relationship they must have had. This book had splashes of everything, but it was a good family story at its heart. I absolutely loved it!

The Violet Hour is the second book in the Lowcountry Tale series, but can absolutely be read as a standalone book. This book focuses on Violet Adams, who is the youngest child in the family, living on Sullivan’s Island. After a breakup and a subsequent tragedy, she struggles with who she is after so much change in her life. Her best friend, Aly, is also struggling after losing her mother and adjusting to life in the South. Violet is ready to help Aly find success as a new influencer and even love in South Carolina.
This book reminded me a lot of Kristy Woodson Harvey type book, and I think fans of her books will really love this one (and also My Magnolia Summer). This is the perfect summer read and I loved the focus on friendship, family, and the beach setting. This one was really heartwarming and I would definitely recommend it for a beach/poolside read!
🎧The audiobook was narrated by a full cast of narrators and I love how they brought the audiobook to life. It was easy to follow along with the cast and I while some of the narrators were ones that I have listened to before, some were new to me and I enjoyed listening to some new narrators who I would definitely listen to again! I thought everything about the narration was top-notch and would definitely recommend the audio!

What a fun book, there is a lot of story packed into this. I did read and enjoy the first low country book, but this does stand on its own.
This book has every sort of relationship drama you can imagine: Sisters, father-daughter, and dating as a new widow. It does nicely explore each as a different but intertwining storyline. This leads to great storytelling and a nice pace because you always want to read on to see what happens next. Somehow, to me, the level of drama was believable, but it feels just far enough away that its impact is entertainment, not stress.
The Low-county setting of downtown Charleston is so idyllic and adds to the charm of the story. I enjoyed the characters and breezed through this in about four days.

An engaging Low Country story filled with family and friends as they struggle through doubts, new beginnings, long held secrets and dilemmas. Thoroughly enjoyable.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of the book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Family and friends…starting over…relationships. This is book two 8n this series…the characters are trying to make their lives better…some success in this endeavor…enjoy…thanks Netgalley

A large family gets together in the Low Country in South Carolina. And as with most families, there is usually some drama and this family is no exception. A fun, entertaining read

Thanks to Gallery for my advance copy of The Violet Hour by Victoria Benton Frank.
The Violet Hour is a sequel to My Magnolia Summer and I recommend reaching that one first. These are both part of the Lowcountry Tale series.
This book continues the story of the two sisters, but it's Violet's turn, After a stillbirth and her relationship failing, Violet is trying to put her life back together and relies on her family and friends to help her. Her friend Aly also has a point of view in the story and we see these two become closer friends as they both try to figure out their next steps.
I wanted to like this one more, but I found Aly really immature. I get that Joyce was the worst, but she could have dealt with it better and at times it felt very name-droppy to Charleston in a weird way.
This is a book about family, relationships and trusting yourself after tragedy. If you like Southern fiction you'll enjoy this book.
I will read more of VBFs books as they transport me to the year i lived in Charleston and I loved Sullivan's Island and going to Station 32 to sit on the beach.

Thank you to NetGalley for the advance ecopy of this title. This is the second in a series. The first book was entertaining, but the writing in this one seems under par from the first. It seemed to copy Elin Hildebrand in the way it "name-dropped" brands and restaurants, which I find EXTREMELY lazy. It also had a chapter that took place in Nantucket. The timeline seemed off in relation to the first book, and many sentences were repetitive. The believability was a stretch, and the Joyce character was over the top obnoxious. If the father had half a brain, he would have wised up sooner to her. The character of Henry seemed promising, but was never fleshed out. This was a slap-dash sequel.

This was my first time reading a book written by this author. I hadn't read the first book in the series but didn't feel like I was missing anything.
This story was told in dual POVs which I love. Unfortunately, I didn't connect with either of the main characters. The characters and their storylines felt a bit childish especially Aly's character. There were also too many different storylines happening at once that I just didn't connect with it.
