The Ever Queen was an amazing closure to the story of Erik and Liv. Where I did feel more attached to book 1, The Ever King, I still greatly enjoyed the events of book 2. With the happily ever after we wanted, we also got to know a lot of new characters that helps frame the story. LJ Andrews brings all the aspects we love from book 1, and keeps us engaged through the very end. I’m definitely continuing onto book 3! This reader will need more LJ Andrews in her life.

I didn’t think I could love Livia and Erik more BUT I WAS WRONG.

THIS DUOLOGY SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE AND I SAID THANK YOU

The stars say it all! I absolutely love the ending to this duology! The beginning is heart wrenching with Erik & Livia separated - unlikely allies form - and the crew will do anything to get her back 👏🏻 I think the separation time is perfect, we aren’t left without our MCs being together an entire book but on the other hand it wasn’t just too easy for Livia to escape! IN FACT this entire book had me on edge, heart pumping and biting my nails! It was so action packed, the world expansion was flawless, the character development is *chef’s kiss*, the battle scenes were EPIC, high stakes, again not too easily won!!! Just phenomenal all around!

And my favorite part: Erik & Livia’s love never falters, even when it’s put through an unimaginable test! 🥹😮‍💨 Erik Bloodsinger makes me swoon whenever he is so sweet to Livia and only ever for Livia!

The nods back to The Broken Kingdoms and the events during and after that war are impeccably done! The little bonding moments we get between Erik + Valen and Erik + Steig literally brought me to tears every single time 🥹 MY HEART ❤️

As always found family is LJ’s cup of tea ☕️ And our family just keeps expanding! Now I’m ready for Jonas & Skadi in The Mist Thief!!

“For more than a thousand turns, I will follow your beautiful black heart across the skies and seas.”

This book had me on edge, crying, smiling, and laughing. It has both devastating and heartwarming moments, epic battles, and the perfect amount of humor.

A hidden realm is newly discovered when Livia is taken from Erik. He will stop at nothing to get back to his Nightfire. They are not quickly reunited, but there is so much character growth and story development in the meantime. We get to learn so much about Sewell’s backstory (a favorite character of mine!). Livia meets Skadi and learns a little about the isle in the mist called Natthaven. It seems like Skadi will have a major role in the final book of this trilogy! Livia continues her journey of transforming centuries worth of misogyny and inequality within the Ever. I love a powerful FMC, and Livia is everything I could possibly hope for.

Some of my favorite tropes included were fated mates, found family, and I’m HOPING for a new grumpy/sunshine relationship between Mira and Tait AKA Hearttalker New information about Jonas will be on the horizon with book 3, as well. The Ever Seas books will always be very highly recommended by me whenever someone is looking for their next romantasy read!

This book picks up right where book one left off and I'm convinced it has crack cause I could not put it down!

I mean staying up till the crack of dawn and being grumpy cause you have to adult instead of reading kinda unputdownable!

Saying I'm obsessed would be an understatement! The dynamics between the royals was amazing! The banter, found family, the plot twists! It all had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish and all up in my feels! I was screaming, laughing, rolling my eyes and kicking my feet the entire time and I enjoyed every second of it!

I am addicted and don't even get me started on Erik Bloodsinger! That man is top tier and has me in a chokehold! I will accept absolutely no criticism!

Right back into the Ever we go, right back on the heels of the ending of The Ever King. I absolutely love the adventure that LJ takes us on in Livia and Erik’s story. Thank Berkley and Ace for my eARC!

Though the beginning of their love story starts as captor/captive it turns into a touch her and he will burn the ever loving world down for her and The Ever Queen is no exception. With Livia taken, Erik will have to work with her father King Valen, who is the whole reason he took Livia in the first place and relive his past in order to get her back.

Livia loves her Serpent for all that he is and Erik’s love is fierce for his Songbird. Love truly conquers all in this book, Erik and Valen are able to put aside any difference for their common goal. I love the family love and banter in these books and the found family throughout it.

I am excited how this book setups up my favorite character, Jonas’s story and can’t wait to see what happens with him and Skadi in The Mist Thief!

The bonus content in this new version was so cute! Though Erik might be the Bloodsinger we see a sweeter side to him taking place after The Ever Queen and also his relationship with Livia’s brother Rorik.

The story of the serpent and the songbird, I just adore Erik and Livia’s story and the journey of how far they will go to be with each other! This book concludes their story but I can’t wait for future stories about other loved characters. If you’re a fan of fae, pirates, Vikings, fated mates, touch her and die, forced proximity, etc, then you will love this series, because I sure did!!

“To me, you will always be the most beautiful of monsters.”

L.J. Andrews has once again seized my soul and drowned it in the inky depths of the Ever Seas. The Ever Queen picks up exactly where The Ever King left us—reeling from betrayal, breathless with anticipation, and feral for more Erik and Livia. As a long-time fan of Andrews’ work (Broken Kingdoms will always have my heart), I was beyond excited to follow these new characters through the cursed tides of this familiar and ferocious world—and oh, did they deliver.

This book is a high-stakes, heart-ripping continuation filled with all the goodness we crave in a dark romantasy: fated mates, soul-deep devotion, blood-soaked battles, and enough slow-burn angst to make you want to yeet your Kindle into the sea. After being separated by betrayal (no spoilers, but seriously?!), Erik must seek help from the Earth Fae while Livia, now imprisoned, has to claw her way to freedom using nothing but her cunning and rising power. And let’s just say—our girl goes morally grey in the best possible way.

The emotional development in this one? Chef’s kiss. We get to see Erik crack open his armor—not just to Livia, but to himself. He’s tortured, loyal to a fault, and so in love he would burn down entire kingdoms if it meant keeping her safe. Livia, meanwhile, steps into her power like a true Ever Queen—fierce, strategic, and more confident than ever. Their chemistry sizzles, their banter slays, and when they finally reunite? Let’s just say you’ll need to hydrate.

What really shines in this sequel is the supporting cast. Valen fans—you're fed well. The returning characters from the Broken Kingdoms universe made this feel like a true expansion, not just a spin-off. I especially loved the hints we get about Jonas (hello, Book 3 obsession loading). Each character brings flavor and fire to the story without ever stealing the spotlight from Erik and Livia.

Plot-wise, this is a strong continuation with detailed battles that feel cinematic. The middle does slow slightly to build tension before the explosive final arc, but the pacing works overall—especially once the chaos hits. My only wish? A touch more clarity on the Elves and their emerging storyline, but I trust Andrews is playing the long game here.

And yes—there’s spice. It’s more prominent than in Book 1, but emotionally driven and earned. These are not throwaway scenes; they’re full of heart, healing, and deep connection. Every touch carries weight, every moment adds to their story. Nothing gratuitous—just the kind of steam that makes your heart ache in the best way.

Tropes & Themes You’ll Swoon For:
❤️ Fated Mates
😈 Villain Gets the Girl
🏴‍☠️ Pirates Meet Vikings
🧜 Fae, Sirens, and Curses
🔥 Morally Grey MMC + FMC
🔪 Touch Her and Die
🤗 Found Family
💔 Tortured Love
✨ Slow Burn & Forced Proximity
👑 Enemies to Lovers meets Forbidden Romance

If you’re a fantasy romance reader who craves dangerous devotion, haunting prose, and characters who bleed, burn, and choose each other again and again—then The Ever Queen is your next obsession. And with bonus content on the horizon? You can bet I’ll be re-reading this entire series under a full moon, salt air in my lungs, and tears in my eyes. Thanks to LJ Andrews and the publisher for an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Unhinged Erik is *chefs kiss*

I will perhaps put together a more eloquent, thought out review….but for now that’s all I have to say 😂😅 LJ Andrew’s books always pull me and make it so I don’t want to put them down.

This is one of my most anticipated reads for 2024 and when I learned I was getting an ARC, I've been so excited! Suffice to say, it didn't take me long to read it once I got it!

This picks up pretty much right where the first one ends and is the conclusion of Erik and Livia's duet! But not the series! Livia was crowned Queen of the Ever but was taken from Erik when he was betrayed. Erik travels to Livia's home and the Earth Fae, and doesn't really get a warm welcome when he arrives.

I had read the Ever King first before discovering the Broken Kingdoms series, which is set in the same world but comes before this series. So after finished the Ever King, I went back and read that series so it was fun to see everyone again from that series in the Ever Queen!

I loved Erik and Livia's story and conclusion in this book. Seeing their relationship strengthen. Their sweet, and of course spicy, moments. Really enjoyed Livia's parents coming to terms that their daughter loves the Ever King. There were a couple of funny moments related to that! Livia's younger brother was also hilarious. I loved this second generation and how they are so close to each other. I hope we get books for all of them! I feel like we got some hints for future couples!

Overall, I absolutely devoured this book and loved this duet. Livia is such a strong FMC with such a supporting MMC! I'm excited to see how this series continues with the other characters and Jonas book next!

This is the second book in the Ever Seas series, a romantic fantasy about Fae and pirates. This series is based on the world established in the author’s Broken Kingdoms series and includes several characters from that series. While you don’t have to have read The Broken Kingdoms series to understand this series, this first book would spoil some pretty major plot lines from that original series. Tropes include found family, touch her/him and die, morally gray MCs and hurt/comfort. This book does include adult spicy content and is significantly darker in terms of themes and content.

The Lovely: I somehow love the characters and their relationship even more than I already did. Their love is so complicated and both are still conflicted about their relationship and what it means for them. This book was even more angsty than the first book, especially the first half. I enjoyed how much of a role the earth far played - especially Livia’s father.

Also Lovely: The plot and tension were again excellent. A lot happens in this book, in a good way, and the first half is distinct from the second half. The plot and characters fit together so seamlessly it’s hard to not get immersed in the experience of the story.

Rating: 5/5 Stars 3/5 Flames

Recommendation: I received an advance review copy and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I loved this second book just as much as the first and I’m a little sad my journey with Livia and Erik has come to an end. There will be at least one more book in this series but it will focus on a different pair of characters. I cannot wait to see how their relationship develops given it is going to start from a very different place. If you like romantic fantasy with a amazing characters and plot, and a focus on relationships, I think you would like this book.

I just finished the most memorable, action packed and romantic story about Liv and Erik. The story picks up where the Ever King stopped. The story has your heart is beating like crazy because everybody’s emotions are going all over the place. Everyone settles and Erik has help going back to Ever kingdom. The moment when Liv and Erik found each other was EPIC. The story and the author’s writing keeps you on the edge of your seat. I loved the private moments with Liv & Erik — the scenes were super hot. I totally adored Rorik and Sewell in this book. Like in all of LJ Andrews’ books it was impossible to put the book down until you finished it. It was one of my all time favorite books.

The Ever Queen re-release on 9/16/25

Bonus scene with Eric in the House of Ferus after The Ever Queen will be in the hardback copy.

ARC Review -
This bonus scene ties Erik and Livia lives together truly in all ways. I laughed, screamed and cried happy tears while reading this extraordinary bonus scene. It was a beautiful touch.

I like say thank you to LJ Andrews and NetGalley for the ARC and I’m leaving my review voluntarily.

“Your daughter is my beacon. I will never regret taking her, for she is my home. I love her, Queen. There is no part of me that would choose anything over her.”

We pick up right where book 1 left off. This book is action packed with betrayal, fighting, kidnapping, and unexpected twists. I loved learning more about the side characters like Celine, Gavyn, Jonas, and Mira. Livia steps into her power her and takes on the role of warrior Queen. She may not be the strongest but she certainly doesn’t back down either. The devotion these characters have for each other and their found family is perfection. Erik continues to be the brutish king we know him to be. He will stop at nothing to have his Queen back.

No cliffhanger in this one but it does set up the beginning of the next book in the series which is a standalone about a different set of characters we have already met. I highly recommend this series if you love fantasy, romance, pirates, and Vikings.

I was excited to dig into this book after finishing book 1. The ending of that book had me very worried for the Serpent. He did have a rocky start with this book and I loved every moment of it.

The connection between these two was such an amazing aspect of this book. It started when they were children and developed through the first book. That development went well beyond the magic that was at play in the beginning. One of my favorite parts of this book was the moment where their love was demonstrated so clearly. (Of course I can't give you anymore details than that. Hehe) Their connection drives this story and it was perfection.

So many characters in this story. We gain many from the beginning of book 1 and gain some totally new ones. They all blend together to conclude the songbird and serpents story and begin the story of two others. The overarching story of this Fae world continues. It was a nice blending that has me interested in continuing to read about this world.

I started this series after finishing the Shield of Sparrows. I was desperate for another really good book and this series did it for me. It's a great #romantasy with an interesting world that wasn't too heavy on world building (the right amount) and had characters I wanted to read about. Both book 1 and 2 are easy books that can be quickly devoured and enjoyed. The perfect book feast to get stuck in.

I loved this book so much. What i lived the most was getting to see the two realms collide. Seeing Livias family (Jonas, Mira, Sander, Aleksi, and her father) interact with Erik and his family was amazing. I loved that Erik was able to finally find a family bot only with Livia, but with her family and his own family/friends that he has been keeping at a distance. There were a few times when I felt the plot was moving a little slowly, and that's the only reason why it's not a 5⭐️. Overall, i loved this book and can't wait to read Jonas' book!!

I loved this so so much! This was the perfect continuation. I love LJ’s characters, and seeing all the Broken Kingdom characters interact with the new characters was so fun! The old characters feel mature, but still so much themselves! I absolutely adored being in this world again, and the conclusion, and then the cliffhanger for the next couple was fantastic. The writing style is fantastic, the plot is steady, and at no point did I find myself bored!

📖 Bookish Thoughts
I was excited to return to this world after The Ever King, but The Ever Queen didn’t fully land for me. The pacing was incredibly slow, and I found myself tempted to DNF more than once. While I loved portions of the book, overall the execution felt flat in comparison to the first book.

🗓 Pub Date: September 16, 2025
Thank you to Berkley and NetGalley for the ARC. All thoughts are my own.

One of the many things that blow me away about LJ Andrews is that she does an amazing job of writing fierce, badass heroines who are also soft. LJ loves her viking and pirate worlds, enemies to lovers, and and dark, twisty magic. But she writes these incredible FMCs who are vulnerable and flawed and still learn to save themselves.

I loved this duology. I loved everything about Erik and Livia. Book two of the Ever Seas takes us even deeper into the Ever. I loved learning more about the different houses, powers, and politics. The connections between the worlds are so fun.

I can't recommend these books enough for romantasy fans of authors like Carissa Broadbent, Kate Dramis, and Stacia Stark.
