This is the third book in the Ever Seas series. I loved Skadi and Jonas' story SO much. This arranged marriage was everything I wanted it to be. I will recommend this book and the entire Ever Seas series to everyone!

Book 3 of the Ever Seas series is everything you want in a dark fantasy romance and more 🖤! Jonas of House Eriksson crosses paths with Skadi of Natthaven in opposing sides of battle, and decides to make her his wife for the safety of all fae and alvers. Together, they make the journey back to his home of Klockglas where scheming and thievery prevail. There, Skadi realizes that it is ok to be monstrous in this world and be proud of it. And Jonas realizes that even in the midst of nightmares, he is capable of love. A must read…highly recommend!

Jonas and Skadi forever 🖤 I love these two! Jonas is confident and charming on the outside but has the biggest soft heart on the inside and is so scared of losing the people he loves that he’s build this hard exterior when it comes to relationships. And sweet sweet Skadi has never had the opportunity to feel seen, loved, or understood at any point in her past 😭 She’s been abused and told she’s dangerous and dark her entire life! She finds solace in Jonas because he wants her to just be her and it just comes out the freaking sweetest! I mean the man builds her a damn library! Now THAT’S LOVE! ❤️ and their banter! Girlfriend is able to dish it back to Jonas every time and I ate it up!

I think what I love most about this book is really feeling like we’re back in The Broken Kingdoms since the majority of this book takes place in the Black Palace and surrounding area. There are so many cameos from the OG TBK storyline and the found family is just so impeccable with Kase & Mal & fam accepting and taking Skadi under their wing to show her that not all darkness is a bad thing (they even involve her in schemes - as it should be!) and she’s accepted and loved by her new family 🥹 I can’t tell you how many times I teared up just because my heart was so happy for Skadi feeling like she finally fits in somewhere!

We all need a Jonas in our lives! Who doesn’t love a cinnamon roll MMC with touch her and d!e vibes? This fantasy romance book is the third installment in the Ever Seas, and it did NOT disappoint. I absolutely loved every minute of it. There was so much suspense, delicious romantic tension, and the spice was worth the wait. This book deserves to be at the top of the leaderboard in the romantasy genre!

Just like the first two books in the Ever seas series, The Mist Thief did not disappoint! This story felt so comforting and Jonas is the perfect ride or die “I will give everything” for my friends and family. Watching Skadi learn to love herself and find herself a family that will love her unconditionally was beautiful!
The way I am obsessed with this world and all its characters, I need them to have their own books because I am too invested in their lives!

L.J. Andrews has officially ruined me (in the best possible way) with The Mist Thief. If you devoured The Ever King and The Ever Queen, then prepare to fall face-first into mist, magic, and marriage-of-inconvenience perfection. Jonas and Skadi's story is a masterclass in tension, tenderness, and trust—and I read the entire book in one day because I physically could not stop.

Though technically a standalone, I highly recommend reading the first two books before diving in. Not only do Jonas and Skadi have ties to the previous stories (and some juicy backstory), but the emotional payoff hits so much harder when you’ve seen what brought them to this delicate, politically loaded union. What begins as a strategic marriage to prevent war between the Fae and Elves quickly becomes something far more complicated...and beautifully intimate.

Jonas is everything I want in a fantasy MMC: broody, morally grey, loyal to the bone—but with an absolute cinnamon roll core that made me weak. And Skadi? She’s misunderstood, powerful, emotionally raw, and carrying the weight of a kingdom that sees her as a weapon. Watching them move from guarded enemies to lovers who actually see each other was utterly delicious. The banter had me cackling. The angst had me clutching my chest. And the romance? Plot-wise, Andrews wraps up the tense Fae-Elf political conflict introduced in The Ever Queen with finesse. Unique and well-woven into both character arcs and action scenes. I especially loved the way Skadi’s destructive gifts mirrored her emotional journey—her arc is one of self-acceptance and reclaiming her voice, and it’s stunning.

What I didn’t expect was just how emotionally resonant this book would be. Jonas and Skadi are two people bound by duty but longing for something real—and the way they slowly learn to let their guards down wrecked me. There's something about two powerful characters choosing vulnerability that just hits.

Skadi, a warrior woman of the shadow elves, finds herself defeated and claimed as prize by her future husband. The premise itself is intriguing: a marriage of convenience between a shadow elf and a fae prince, designed to unite their kingdoms against a common enemy. Skadi's initial resistance to the match is understandable. Burdened by duty and distrust, she views the marriage as a mere political maneuver, convinced that emotions have no place in this arrangement.
Prince Jonas, despite being her supposed enemy, proves to be complex and compelling. He possesses a charm and understanding that slowly chip away at Skadi's defenses, making the "not falling in love" part of the story incredibly difficult, and incredibly engaging. The author does a fantastic job of building the relationship between Skadi and Jonas, creating a believable and heartfelt connection that transcends their initial animosity. The slow burn romance is expertly paced, and will leave you rooting for their unlikely love.
Skadi's internal conflict – choosing between loyalty to her people and her burgeoning feelings for Jonas – adds another layer of depth to the story. The question of whether she will betray him to protect her kingdom, or embrace her love and risk everything makes for a compelling read.

I received this as an ARC and oh, my god! This was everything I wanted!! Our FMC, Skadi, first met our MMC Jonas on opposing sides of a battle field. End result? To protect his people from her magic, he enters an arranged marriage with her - against everyone's advice. And that is where this book picks up from: right before they take their vows. Skadi, is an elven princess, in a kingdom that is a afraid of her and her powers. Since she isn't a blood descendent of her grandfather's line, the king, the only way for her to inherit the throne is by marrying someone of equal status, like our MMC Prince. They both agree that feelings, especially love, have no place in this marriage and they are doing it for their people. But there is a third player, the elven prince from the light elves that we saw in the previous books, that doesn't want this alliance to happen.

Overall, I absolutely loved this! sorry, Erik & Livia, I think I have a new favourite couple! I always love a good arranged marriage and this did not disappoint. Unlike the previous two books, this is a standalone. Since I have read the Broken Kingdoms series, I loved seeing Kase and Malin again and their kingdom of thieves! I loved Skadi and her relationship with Jonas! The tension between them was great! And Skadi!! Getting comfortable with her powers and getting to know Jonas people was so great!! Super psyched for the next book!!

The Mist Thief is such a good book. It can be read as a standalone, but it is highly recommended to be read after The Ever King and The Ever Queen duology. LJ's world building is so incredible, it feels like you know the world. Definitely recommend this book if you like marriage of convenience, Norse mythology, magics, and of course, romance.

This is the third book in the Ever Seas series, but can be read as a standalone. It focuses on Jonas and Skadi’s story, with appearances of the Ever King and Queen. This series is based on the world established in the author’s Broken Kingdoms series and includes several characters from that series. Tropes include arranged marriage, found family, banter (he has to have the last word), enemies to lovers (she stabbed his brother), who did this, touch her and die, and hurt/comfort.This book does include adult spicy content and is dark in terms of themes and content.

The Lovely: I’m worried every time I start a new couple’s story I won’t love it as much as the last. And usually I worried for nothing. This time - I was concerned because Jonas came across like a player and I didn’t think I’d be able to see him otherwise, or even like him. But that’s only superficial Jonas. His relationship with Skadi grows and changes, and they become what each other need. There’s significant character development for both of them that was beautiful. I also loved Skadi’s relationship with Jonas’ father and how accepts and encourages her.

Recommendation: I received an advance review copy, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Jonas and Skadi’s story fit neatly into this one book, ending with a HEA for them (and the start of a journey for another couple). I’m actually sad we don’t get to spend more time with them, although perhaps we will in the future. If you have any plans to read books one and two, I would definitely read those first so Mist Thief doesn’t spoil anything for you. And, if you haven’t read the Broken Kingdoms series yet, I’d do that even before the Ever King/Queen. I loved getting to see Kase and Malin again (from Broken Kingdoms), especially seeing them together and in action.

OMG… LJ Andrews has done it again! Run don’t walk to get yourself a copy of The Misty Thief ASAP. I absolutely loved Jonas and Skadi. The tension and chemistry was 🔥. Spending so much time with the Alvers clan and her learning that she could be accepted in the world. There is plenty of action and spice in this book. I love that we get more of Kase and Malin as well in this book. Their relationship is goals for me. That they still love hard and can embarrass their adult children with that love. Of course there is more of our favorite characters Liv, Erik, Mira, Tait and the rest of the gang.

I have never felt such hatred towards characters as I do Cian, Arion, and his Dad. Skadi’s grandfather has a slight redemption arc but I am not truly sad with his end in this story. It does end on a cliffhanger but it is so worth it.

I adored this standalone set in the world of the ever seas! Jonas was one of my favorite characters from the very beginning and it was wonderful getting to see him find his HEA. From sassy comebacks, to building a gorgeous library for his woman, this book exceeded my expectations in so many ways. The spice level in this book was higher than the previous entries and I was ready 👏 for 👏 it👏! LJ Andrews is a master at story telling and I gobble anything she writes with fervor now. Perfection, 10/10, give me more! I will read anything LJ Andrews writes. She is the master of plots with action & intrigue while also having the perfect blend of banter & spice. I have come to love the world of The Ever Seas so much. There are so many characters and families to keep up with, but Andrews makes it easy for you to be invested in all of them. I absolutely loved Skadi joining in the shenanigans with the Jonas’s family and the Kryv. I loved Jonas & Skadi’s story and can’t wait for the next couple’s book (which the ending sets up nicely)!

Wow wow wow!! This was everything I could’ve possibly hoped for! The character were real and raw! Andrew’s ability to write characters who can feel multiple emotions at once always surprises me! Her characters feel so complex and realistic while still having the magical elements that feel whimsical and fun. I’m obsessed with the attention to detail and the lore. I love this world and it’s been truly such a joy being back in her world. Jonas and Skadi had such a unique relationship, and I loved seeing their friendship build as well as their romance. I adored this story once again, and I’m on the edge of my seat for the next story!

The banter, the spice, the characters - they are all so amazing. I was really looking forward to Jonas's story after The Ever King/Queen and the author did not disappoint!

I love the development in Jonas and Skadi's relationship and everything was so well-paced. I love how protective Jonas was right from the start. He is such a swoon-worthy character. Jonas is definitely more of a cinnamon roll character, especially compared to Erik, but he has his morally gray moments and the way he doesn't hesitate to do anything for Skadi is SO attractive. I wasn't sure what to expect from Skadi but I really liked her character. Her character growth is done so well as she grows to truly become part of Jonas's family. Both Jonas and Skadi are so genuine and I love the way they developed feelings for each other. The transparency and communication were SO GOOD. By the end of the book, Jonas had me head over heels for him because of how he spoke about Skadi.

I love the author's writing style. I love the pacing of this story. And I honestly loved everything about this book. The action, the chemistry, and the humor were so strong. Jonas and Skadi were so good together.

This also made me want to read The Broken Kingdom series because the parents had such an impact. All the characters are so strong and I honestly would not be opposed to stories about every single one of them. This is a strong follow-up to Erik's story and I can't wait to get more stories in this world!

I may like this even more than the Ever King and Queen. I’m a sucker for an arranged marriage trope. And Jonas?! Omg I’m in love! This book has everything I love in a Romantasy! Morally grey characters, enemies to lovers, forced proximity and all the banter. What more could I ask for in a book!

I’m so excited to be a part of LJ’s arc team for the new published editions from Berkley Publishing! I am obsessed with this series and was so excited to read about Jonas and Skadi. We have the perfect set up for them at the end of The Ever Queen. It’s a rocky start to a relationship for sure but wow do I love their immediate connection.

From the beginning of The Mist Thief this book focuses on Skadi and how she’s supposed to be this monstrous being with dark power that causes her to be emotionless. Jonas and his family, who all have dark gifts, strive to give her a place to shine and to understand that it’s okay to be a little monstrous. I loved how much of the guild of Kryv and the alvers we see in this book. They play such a big role of helping Skadi and even take her in a heist! Jonas and Skadi’s development in this book was great and I love all of their interactions together. They become an amazing couple and work to make things better for their people.

This was really the first book that we get to see the elves and I hope to see more from them following this book. After the ending I really hope we continue to learn more about them and their land. Once again LJ gives us amazing world building that just keeps adding to this already complex and lush world. I am so excited for Mira and Tait’s book as I have been loving their interactions through the last two books. And after the ending of The Mist Thief I am so interested to see how their story will begin!

First off…. I had no words for the longest time after finishing this book. After reading the Ever King/Queen duet there was such high hopes for the next book in the series.

Let me tell you, every single one was surpassed!

Skadi and Jonas have an amazing story and it was told beautifully. They are perfect for each other in the way they are playful, protective, caring, stubborn and dealing with their own darknesses. The bantering was key to opening Skadi up from the everything had had happened to her in the past. The family dynamic added to it because it helped her see that she was in the right place and eventually see she had finally gotten the family she deserved.

The spice scenes…. Well let’s just say. One tub two adults is always a great one.

I think I enjoyed this couple even more than I did the ever king and ever queen.
Jonus is his father’s son and all that is implies. I am excited for the next tale in this series but if you love unique magic systems and worlds and a sweet hea this is the one for you. Hopefully if you read this you’ve read all her other books and enjoy her work.
