This was a fun holiday escape read, but something didn't quite click for me. I will still recommend it to those looking for a new holiday read, but I was a bit disappointed. Usually I love everything from this publisher/imprint, so I'm not sure why this didn't click for me. Maybe just my mood?

Amy is the lodestone of her family, the glue that holds everyone together. With the holidays approaching, she finds herself burned out from juggling her uninspiring job, two sons, an ex-husband, and aging parents. So, she does something unexpected: she escapes to a friend’s lake house for two weeks of solitude. Except...the house is already occupied by a handsome, professional golfer in his fifties.

What begins as an awkward arrangement soon becomes a quiet companionship - he works on his swing, she reconnects with her art - until everything unravels into delightful chaos.

I loved that this book centers on two Gen X characters in their 40s/50s trying to rediscover purpose and passion. London writes a world that feels lived-in, emotionally real, and deeply relatable. Amy and her unexpected housemate have great chemistry, and when the Bossy Posse shows up, they’re a charming, lively addition to the ensemble.

The reflections on being the family’s default problem-solver and emotional load-bearer are so spot-on, it hits a nerve in the best way. That said, some parts of the romance didn’t quite land for me, especially the resolution. Still, this is a cozy holiday novel with heart, perfect for readers who want a story that understands the quiet complexity of midlife reinvention.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC.

This is a sweet romance of two people just trying to find themselves, but falling in love at the same time.
This is a cute, cozy winter read. I liked how the encounters played out.

Thanks NetGalley for this ARC

What a sweet romance! A mistake (or fate!) put both Amy and Harrison at the same lake house at the same time. Both were likeable characters that I was rooting for. I read this in one sitting and couldn't put it down. A cozy book for a cold night.

The single mom trope exceeded all my expectations! I love a single dad but woah 😍 I loved that Amy was such a realistic exhausted parent who just wanted some me time to do something she loved for once. Harrison is very dreamy. I still don't know much about golf but I'd join a league if it meant meeting a real life Harrison

There’s something so tender about two people rediscovering themselves and letting someone in during the most magical time of year. A beautiful, heartfelt holiday romance that left me smiling and misty-eyed.
