A fun, fast-paced fantasy romance that can be predictable at times, but no less enjoyable. The characters shine in this book, particularly the FMC; she's strong, knows who she is and is completely insane in the best way, 4.5 stars!

First, thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing for the ARC in exchange for an honest review💖

I have never been a fan of vampires in books. I’m not sure if it was because the whole twilight series didn’t appeal to me or if I hated that they were always romanticized with a human blood bag of a person.

However!!! this book was not like that for me. I surprisingly really liked the vampire elements and how the author wrote our MMC, Adrian.

Rae, our witchy FMC, is badass and a big part of why i enjoyed this book. She is strong and traumatized and a lot of things i like to see in MCs.

The romance was good. I feel like they’re a true example of enemies to lovers. I feel like a lot of people jump to calling books enemies to lovers but this felt like actual hatred at times.

Other tropes included: forced proximity, marriage of convenience, and morally grey characters.

The plot was always moving and intriguing. The ending had me itching to start book 2 that’s not even out yet. I was surprised a few times and I enjoyed that her writing didn’t make it too obvious.

Things I didn't like:

The FMC is always half-naked and its described each time. Even while metalsmithing (her job). I just can't realistically see this happening around such hot metal. It also just feels kinda icky to me the way she is sexualized but alas this is a smutty book so that's to be expected.

*To note, my preference in books is always closed door but I will read and typically skip or skim smut scenes.

The smut was, in my opinion, unskippable as it shows their growing vulnerability and trust within each other. This isn't necessarily a bad thing as it means that it at least served a purpose rather than writing smut just to write smut. However, it did require me to read it which as I've said, I don't enjoy as a personal preference.

All in all, I did really like this book and would be likely to recommend it to others. It surprised me that I enjoyed it as much as I did.

Rating: 4.5⭐️ (4 on goodreads due to limitations)

Never Run from an Immortal was a wild, fast-paced ride that kept me hooked but also left me a little breathless. The story moves quickly, and between the large cast of characters, shifting alliances, and all the magical creatures in conflict, it sometimes felt a bit scattered. The third person narration made it a little harder for me to connect emotionally, which is why I didn’t give it a full five stars.

That said, I really enjoyed the vibe of this world. It felt dark, dangerous, and full of tension. You’ve got vampires, witches, and all kinds of magical beings caught up in this ongoing power struggle, and it creates a moody, high-stakes atmosphere that’s super compelling.

But the real star? Rae, the female main character. I was completely obsessed with her sass, strength, and chaotic energy. Her interactions — whether flirty, snarky, or straight-up intense — were easily my favorite part of the book.

If you love morally gray characters, enemies-to-lovers tension, and a fantasy world with serious edge, this one’s definitely worth a read.

Love Romantasy? Read this one!

Set in a world featuring vampires, witches, and fae, humans struggle to be seen as anything but bloodbags, pets or slaves. Demesia is no safe place for those without power, yet humans long for a seat among the rulers of the city. Led by the Lord Aidan Vale, the government is more or less in shambles, weakened by the selfish and uncaring nature of the vampires that form this regime, their ongoing war with the fae and the absence of the witches since they tried joining forces with the fae by marrying off their princess to the fae prince - a plan that did not succeed following the disappearance of said witch princess.
Rae, main character, silver blacksmith and leader of a rebellious human party, will do everything to make Demesia a safer place for humans - even if it means entering into a marriage of convenience with her worst enemy, Aidan Vale. Their union promises to benefit both parties, yet trust a hard thing to win when in close quarters with the enemy. But soon, an even greater challenge awaits them both: in an attempt to crush the vampires with their own magic, some unknown party started kidnapping humans, fae, witches and vampires alike to run tests on them in a gruesome testing facility. When someone very dear to Rae goes missing, she joins Aidan, threatened in his position as Lord by the results of these tests, in trying to crush this inhumane forces behind this organization.

This book has great worldbuilding. Vampires are subdivided in 5 orders with unique magic systems, whilst fae present in different forms like Horns, Wings and Hooves. The class of vampires is clearly overpowered to no end, but I am really interested to see where this series takes us with the new threat to their power in further books. Demesia as a scene felt very alive and the city had its own unique character.

Rae, our main character, has an interesting backstory that is sprinkled into her perspectives. She is more of a Mary Sue character, pretty overpowered whilst dealing with trauma to balance it out. Rae is 27 and mostly acts her age, which I really appreciate. We love characters that are a little bit older than what I feel like is the standard for New Adult Fantasy!
Aidan also is super overpowered. Whilst his powers were interesting, I never felt any sense of worry or similar emotion towards him. His powers were just so great, anything at all happening to him seemed unrealistic. I felt that his character was not developed a lot further than tortured lone wolf with trust issues. What bothered me most was that it felt like he really had the power to change things, but he was too caught up in his "I hate everything and everyone" bs to act upon it? Idk; I am, however, looking forward to learning more about his backstory in upcoming books.
The main characters were lovely, as far as we got to see them. They all seemed very interesting and/or sweet and I would love to get to know them more!

The worldbuilding was simultaneously the best and worst thing about this book. As I said, I loved the setting, the magic system and the different classes of supernaturals here - but for me, the story was way too simple and focused on the tension between Rae and Aidan to really utilize this stunning setting. The first 100 pages felt super overwhelming getting to know the places, classes and, most of all, orders of the vampires, right until the point Aidan and Vale get to know each other better where the setting doesn't seem to matter so much anymore. I know, this will be a series and things will be developed further, but this is a high fantasy urban setting worthy of a min. 500 pages book which was used as the backdrop of a very unoriginal enemies to lovers setup. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate both, but at this length of book I think the author should have edited things a bit to be more streamlined.

The plot is pretty much what the summary promises. Rebellious groups, vampires and a romance. I saw the plot twist at the first mention of the possibility which did not just take the surprise away but also felt disappointing as I think this specific plot device really has been overused. The story seemed to have super high stakes, but when reading I felt like there were no stakes at all since the protagonists were so incredibly overpowered.
Still, I absolutely loved the idea of the testing faculties and all that they imply!

Summary: read if you like Romantasy with a cool backdrop

This was an amazing book, and probably contains one of my all time favorite FMCs to date. I myself am sarcastic as heck, so I love characters that are sassy and pretty BA overall. It was so well written that I absolutely lost track of time while reading it, and it has all the best tropes. The dual POV was perfectly done, I'm a sucker for being able to be in both characters heads. And Aidan, yes please.

I've read Never Run from an Immortal by Victoria J Price. I got this as an arc in exchange of an honest review, thanks to Netgalley, Victoria J Price and Victory Editing Netgalley Co-op.

It's a story set in a corrupt world of magic and deceit where Rae Farren wants to eliminate all her enemies. She meets Aidan, the Vampire Lord, and together they go on a mission and try to rescue Rae's best friend Nim. Even then they find difficulties in this mission with the other Orders.

It's a very entertaining book and an emotional roller-coaster from start until the end. For me it's definitely a strong 4-star read! I can't wait to get my hands on the 2nd book.

I would say it is well written. I can’t wait to see more work from this author! This story is definitely worth being looked for on the shelves!

By the end of this, it was so hard for me to figure out who was running from whom. Set in the urban fantasy city of Demesia, Aidan and Rae reluctantly enter into a marriage of convenience when a series of events pushes them into working together. The story has political and social intrigue, secret factions, and enough magic to fuel the mystery of what is happening to propel the reader through to the end of the novel and still want more.

Although it took me a while, I ended up really enjoying this book. I hope there's a book 2 and that it comes out soon! The world building is vast but not too complicated which makes the story easy to follow. The story is dual pov but not in the first person, which I really appreciate because it allowed for a smoother flow of events and plot. I really liked how the story came together and the overall development of the relationship between Aidan and Rae. While their initial meeting was not necessarily from the best event, each of their interactions was sassy and playful despite their misgivings. As the story continues, what they want/don’t want on a personal level gets a bit muddled as they continue to work together.

Thank you to NetGalley and Victoria J. Price for gifting me the opportunity to read this ARC! All opinions are my own.

With people disappearing at random, tensions are running high in Demesia, the factions at odds and no one sure who is responsible for the disappearances. Rae Farren is a witch with a plan and a lot of secrets, but when her employee and dear friend witch Nimala “Nim” and her fae boyfriend Reed go missing, Rae knows she needs help. She turns to the Vampire Lord, Aidan Vale and makes a deal – she will help find his lost magic and he will help her find Nim. But to make it believable, Aidan insists they marry, making her his “odalik”. That is fine by Rae, as long as she has access to his resources and he stays out of her mind and her bed.

Aidan Vale knows Rae is hiding something, but he too has secrets and has his own plan for the future of Demesia. But implementing his plan is no easy task, despite being the leader of the Vampire faction, and de facto ruler of Demesia, there is always someone trying to kill him so they can take his place. Add to that the missing people, his missing magic and his inconvenient attraction to his wife and it is clear that Aidan has a lot on his plate. He tries to stay focused on his own plan, but there is something huge going down and his wife is smack in the middle of it.

I have mixed feelings about this book; I was sucked in by the blurb and thought the author did a great job with world building. But it was not an easy book to get into – there are a lot of characters and different types of characters, as well as different types of each type – it is a lot to grasp. I also felt like the author was a bit stingy releasing information to the reader about the character’s secrets, thoughts and their pasts. I also had a hard time connecting with Rae – there is so much anger in her, but the reader doesn’t really understand why until almost the end of the book. And OMG, the ending, to say I felt disappointed would be an understatement. Overall, I did like the book, I was completely invested in the story, and I will definitely be impatiently waiting for the next installment.

Never Run From An Immortal plunges readers into a gritty, magic-infused world where alliances are fragile and danger lurks at every corner. Rae and Aidan’s sharp, witty banter and morally complex personalities make for a captivating enemies-to-lovers dynamic that keeps the pages turning.
The blend of magic, technology, and political intrigue builds a richly textured setting, while the dual perspectives offer insight into both characters’ motivations and vulnerabilities. Though some plot elements feel familiar within the genre, the compelling characters and tension-filled romance elevate the story.
A satisfying read for fans of urban fantasy with dark romance and shades of gray.

Thanks, Netgalley and the publisher for an early copy!

Firstly a huge thank you to Victory Editing NetGalley Coop, NetGalley and Victoria J. Price for providing me with an eARC of Never Run from an Immortal.

This was a really fun read which is paced very well and full of action, twists, tension and chaos! I loved Rae, she was sarcasm and feminine rage personified and I am here for it! I've always been a sucker for fierce female leads that don't need rescuing and Rae is a badass witch who certainly fits the bill. Her background is a bit of a mystery at first which the author unravels bit by bit for the reader to discover, which I thought was done really well.

Aidan is a classic brooding MMC, who is a vampire and of course, morally grey (you know you love it!) The two of them together create a really fun dynamic and their interactions on the page are full of flirtatious banter. Their chemistry was really evident and I really enjoyed watching their relationship develop. Both of them have hidden depths which aren't evident at first, some of which really surprised me as it was revealed, and I thought their character development was really well done. Their shared trauma and mind speaking had me in a chokehold.

I thought the plot was really well paced, you certainly aren't hanging around waiting for action to kick off! I'm looking forward to book 2 and seeing where the story goes from here. If you love Urban Fantasy with witches, vampires, slow burn romance, feminine rage, banter and forced proximity, then Never Run from an Immortal is the book for you!

"Never Run From An Immortal" by Victoria J. Price is a captivating urban fantasy romance that takes time to unfold its magic. Set in the corrupt world of Demesia, where humans and preternatural creatures coexist, the story follows Rae Farren, a feisty and independent witch, and Aidan Vale, a brooding Vampire Lord, as they form an unlikely alliance.

Initially, the multitude of characters and factions can be overwhelming, but once you get into the rhythm, the world-building and plot become engaging. Rae's strength and determination are inspiring, and Aidan's complexity makes him a compelling character. Their banter and undeniable connection add a spark to the story.

The writing is well-crafted, and the ending is satisfying. With a rating of 4 ⭐, "Never Run From An Immortal" is a great read for fans of enemies-to-lovers romance, morally gray characters, and urban fantasy.

4.5 ⭐️ BRUH 🤯 I need book 2 TODAY ! Thank you NetGalley & Victoria J Price for blessing me with this ARC 🫶🏻 vampires, witches, fae, enemies to lovers, marriage of convenience, betrayal, mates, & SPICE 😍 this book has everything I love in a Romantasy & I 100% believe you’ll love it too !! I loved Rae & Aiden so much definitely some of my fav FMC & MMC. Rae is strong, morally grey, and practical. Sometimes in Romantasys the FMC just be doing too much & it kinda gets on my nerves but I feel like if i knew Rae in real life we could be friends 🤷🏻‍♀️ Aiden is morally grey as well & I just feel like he’s the perfect vampire boyfriend also his powers are INSANE. POOR NIM 😩💔 & I love Baelin 💞

Never Run From An Immortal grabbed my attention from the title onward. This tale features a complex female lead that fascinated me from the very first page. Rae has more than her fair share of secrets and getting involved with a Vampire Lord isn’t the safest way to keep them. We’re kept guessing throughout and I enjoyed the ride. Can’t wait for the next installment.

Wow, so I played myself here. I may have realized it when I requested it, but I guess my mind blanked on the fact that this was the first in a series. At about 50% I remembered that it was the first book, and said to myself, "oh no, this cliffhanger is going to be rough." Let me tell you, Victoria did not disappoint! No rush, but I NEED the next book!

The romance was slow-burn, but not too drawn out, and the banter from the main characters was *chef's kiss*. I loved the world and the unreliable POV (great twist by the way, I didn't see that one coming). I feel like I put things together as Aiden did.

Although I loved the story and the main characters, there were a couple small instances where I felt like the fantasy aspect was a little lacking, mostly just in the naming of the orders of fae. Victoria made this really cool world with so many different types of beings, but the naming of the fae just fell flat in comparison, for me.

Overall, highly recommend and I will be telling any and everyone to read this so I have people to talk to about it while we wait for the next installment!

Victoria J. Price delivers a richly layered, high-stakes urban fantasy in “Never Run From An Immortal”, blending supernatural politics, gritty action, and a slow-burn romance that simmers with tension.

The story follows Rae, a fierce and emotionally guarded witch (spoiler alert!), and Aiden, a vampire lord stripped of his powers. Their enemies-to-lovers arc is fueled by forced proximity and a marriage of convenience, with banter and chemistry that feel authentic and earned. The dual POV format adds depth to both characters, allowing readers to connect with their personal struggles and evolving relationship.

The world-building is immersive, featuring a society teeming with fae, witches, vampires, and shifters. While the initial chapters are dense with information, the narrative soon finds its rhythm, balancing political intrigue, magical power struggles, and personal conflicts.

However, the pacing can be uneven, but the story truly picks up around the half-way mark. Additionally, the abundance of character and factions may be overwhelming at times, requiring careful attention to keep track of various elements.

Despite the minor issues, “Never Run From An Immortal” is a compelling read that will appeal to fans of urban fantasy and slow-burn romances. I certainly enjoyed this read!

Huge thank you to NetGalley for the eARC!

Never Run From an Immortal is a romantasy between Rae, a witch with a foul mouth and Aidan, a vampire lord. Both of them find themselves striking a deal with each other, with the other being able to provide things as a means to their end goal. The result becomes a marriage of convenience in the midst of a war between vampires and fae with witches and humans caught in the middle of it, and the story had me engaged from start to finish, though I should add that the first 30% of the book had me somewhat confused as there was so much information tossed at you that was hard to sort through. Once I did figure out everything it became a very enjoyable read and it was really cool to call back to past information when it comes up as the story goes on. I think some of the twists were predictable but the big twist at the end was not, and now I need the second book like yesterday to see what happens next. Plus, the tension between Rae and Aidan??? Absolutely immaculate. It was spicy in all the right ways and the yearning is so good. Overall, a very fun read and I can’t wait to see what happens next in the second book!

This was such a fun, fast-paced read with just the right mix of romance, danger, and humor. The immortal twist was fresh, and the banter between the characters kept things entertaining. I really enjoyed the chemistry and the way the story unfolded, even if a few moments felt a bit predictable. Still, it had heart, action, and a strong emotional core. A great pick if you’re into supernatural romance with a bit of bite!

In this genre, there can be a lot of repeat story lines. While romantasy (like any other genre) has certain plot points you expect them to make, often making some things taste stale, what truly makes a romantasy standout is the author's ability to take those plot points and tropes and to breathe new life into them. Never Run From An Immortal does that spectacularly. There were surprises that I wasn't expecting, characters that I loved, a complex FMC, who, while I didn't always agree with the decisions she was making, they made sense for her character. I found myself pulled into the world, and now find that I am sad to be leaving it.

I'm absolutely frothing at the mouth for the next installment and I cannot wait to see the direction the rest of the series takes. 4.5 Stars.
