I did not finish this book. I'm sure it is a fine book, but with the current events of the world it seemed weird to read a book about a woman who believes marriage to another woman isn't necessary.

I really really loved this book and it's definitely going onto my list of 2025 favourites.

The premise of the book was so cool. I loved the six wishes in exchange for her soul deal with a demon storyline. It added a touch of fantasy that I really enjoyed. There was always something exciting happening and I flew through this. The story was fun and deep and I felt like it hit both ends of the spectrum very well. And the banter was honestly just perfect.

And Daphne. Oh, I loved her so much. She was easily my favourite character. She had some great lines and I enjoyed the ways she twisted Sam's wishes. She really kept me entertained.

I do have to say that with all the tension and the talk about Daphne's forked tongue, I was kind of expecting a little more spice which I wouldn't have been opposed to.

I'm hoping this turns out to be a series because I would love more of this type of story!

😈 Bookish Thoughts
The Devil She Knows is the perfect book to pick up this fall! I will never say no to a demon sapphic romance and we definitely do not have enough of them. This was a fun romcom style story that had me cackling. The failed proposal scene was pure secondhand embarrassment in the best way and I freaking LOVED it. I read this in one sitting it was so good!

Our FMC Sam was funny but seriously lacking in self worth. Like, girlie… just walk away pleaseeee. The banter between her and Daphne (our demon) was hilarious and I instantly loved Daphne.

I do wish the book had been a bit longer so Sam and Daphne had more time to develop their relationship, but I adored the ending and it was so satisfying.
This was a solid 4.5 star read!

🖤 What to Expect

A short, sassy blonde woman as one of the most notorious devils? Forced proximity trope? Both seemed like such fun ideas. However this just fell a little flat for me. I loved the growth of the human main character during the novel, but I still struggle to understand why and how the two of them fell in love. Seems like it was better suited related to Sam’s personal growth?

Not a bad read! Just not my favorite. 3.5/5

This is a demon I would accept being trapped in an elevator with, for sure — and Daphne is also the perfect name for this sort of demon.

This one was fun — I’ve enjoyed her books, and that continued here. It was lighthearted, funny, with an excellent premise. Honestly I just wish it had been longer, and the conclusion more in depth.

i truly thought this was just okay. there was nothing that wowed me but it was a lot of fun. the cover is truly to die for and i love a sapphic story, it just wasn't my new favorite

Oh my the blurb for this one really got me, I was excited to try a paranormal sapphic read, but this one just did not work for me. The plot was so repetitive it kept going around in circles. I mean it was fun, but it just won't be a standout for me.

The Devil She Knows is a fun, lighthearted sapphic romcom.

I think the strongest part of the book were the characters. Sam and Daphne were compelling, fun and endlessly entertaining. The banter between these two was top shelf.

The deal with the devil plot was different and fun. I liked what Bellefleur did with the idea and how it shaped the characters' relationship. The paranormal elements of the story were well done. It was cool and not overly complicated. It was easy to imagine too.

The romance was okay for me. It seemed to go from zero to hundred quickly. Is this to say they didn't have chemistry or romantic moments that made me swoon, no, I think I needed a little more build up to the level of romance that was in the third-act.

Overall, this was lighthearted fun that readers will get a hoot out of.

Thank you Berkley and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This is my first Bellefleur! My friends have spoken about her for a long time, and this cover had me in a chokehold. The story was good, with characters I wish I got more depth from. There were some plot decisions that I wasn’t happy with, and sometimes the book felt like it dragged (in the wrong direction.. with the wrong person..) and I was hoping for a change. I loved the idea but the execution fell flat for me. However, I have still recommended this to others.

*thanks to berkley and netgalley for the digital arc of this novel!!*

first things first, the cover art of this novel is stunnning, i cannot wait to get my hands on a physical copy as to display the beautiful art. that being said, i really enjoyed this book!!

i adored the concept and love the kinda comedy it was at the beginning, it had me reading super quick bc i needed to know what was next! i loved the banter between daphne and sam, it felt very natural, i while i feel the progression was a bit fast, especially bc sam seemed very hesitant and hyper focused on hannah, i liked how the ending played out. for a novel including some supernatural elements, i liked how it still stayed somewhat realistic and hopeful!

i do wish that sam had more time to grieve without immediately moving on, hannah wasn’t a great partner and im glad daphne placed such an emphasis on making sam aware of that but still the turnout was a bit quick for me, though i understand it’s a book. and while hannah wasn’t a good person in the slightest, and i say this based on her last name, i wish the only non white character in this novel weren’t the awful human and terrible, cheating partner.

overall, i really enjoyed this novel, quite frankly ate it up. highly recommend it when it comes out later this year!!

I really wanted to like this one because I have really liked Alexandria Bellefleur's writing in the past, but I just did not vibe with this one at all. I think it spent too much time being a quirky rom com than actually getting me excited to read it.

So far, this is unfortunately my least favorite book by Bellefleur. All her other books have been 5 stars to me. I don't know if it's necessarily because this book is mostly fantasy or that I didnt see the chemistry between Sam and Daphne. It just kinda...came out of nowhere. And then they fall head over heels for each other (literally risking their lives for each other btw) after only knowing each other less than 24 hours....idk.

It still had the same fun banter as her other books, I just wasn't fond of the characters, and their love felt forced.

I would recommend if you're looking for (SPOILERS)

-f/f paranormal romance
-a deal with the devil
-slow burn
-wishes
-queer

This was such a fun concept and I always love Alexandria's writing style.

The Devil She Knows was a cute read. I have some qualms about how quickly Sam and Daphne jumped from first meeting to in love -- I mean, it did not feel like Daphne was a present-enough character during the early wishes in any way that lent to character or relationship development; docked a star for the whiplash -- but I still enjoyed the story overall.

If you're looking for something generally light-hearted, this is a good pick. HEA, with a plethora of devil puns and a side helping of culinary nods -- the Hells Kitchen parody was my personal favorite.

Alexandria Bellefleur has done it again!

I loved the characters, the BANTER, and just the overall heart of this book. If you love her other books you will definitely love this one too!

Samantha Cooper is the dumbest lesbian to exist. Ever. She’s so deeply, intensely pathetic that it’s almost hard to read about her, honestly.

However, as a queer woman myself, I’ve never felt so represented. The idiot lesbian experience deserves to be documented, and Alexandra does that beautifully — and she adds a side of monster romance with a perky demon while she does it. Loved this book, even if the FMC was tragically stupid and the ending was a bit rushed.

This was. Really unique plot line, with the demon showing you your relationship sucks. I genuinely didn’t think they would end up together, and the way that was handled was perfect. It wasn’t sappy or overdone. Each wish was wild but still meetings the request and really showed how much Hannah sucks. Like omg. But let’s be real we have all be there with a partner.

thank you to netgalley and berkley for an e-arc in exchange for a honest review!

listen. alexandria is my girl. but i can’t lie and say i didn’t force myself to finish this. the first 70% is our mc Sam dragging herself through hell (pun intended) to get back a woman who does not deserve her, leaving the development of Sam and Daphne rushed in the last portion. i kept thinking ‘maybe Daphne isn’t the love interest?’ or ‘is this actually a romance?’ the concept itself was wonderful, it just fell short on execution sadly.

Alexandria Bellefleur’s first foray into the paranormal is a great time! Working with demons is always tricky, but Daphne is a well rounded and deep character and her arc to loving Samantha is precious to watch. The author has made a fun world full of devils and deals, and it’s definitely worth a read!

A delightful title by Alexandria Bellefleur, and by far my favorite of her romance titles!

Samantha Cooper could not imagine her life getting any worse than getting publicly dumped after a failed engagement attempt. Then the devil shows up in an elevator and offers her a deal that she cannot refuse. The premise was just fun enough to keep readers looking for the happy ending while creating strong characters in this fast-paced new novel. There could have been stronger interpersonal character development between Samantha and Daphne before the third-act romance took over. It felt a little like Bellefleur wrote the romance around the plot and character development, rather than building up the narrative tension together, but overall, the book was enjoyable.

I could easily see this as a new series!
