The Devil She Knows was so unique, and a really fun read! I loved both Sam and Daphne as characters; they both had such interesting backstories. Especially Daphne. The dry, witty humour was great and never felt forced. Believable dialogue that wasn't cheesy. Will be a great spooky season read, but can be read year-round. Can't wait for October when I can get it into reader's hands!

I love the idea of this book for sure. However, I think it was probably difficult to write and sell to readers as a romance. I had read over 50% of the book when I felt like the story was finally starting to be about this couple instead of the mc trying to get over their ex. After that, the story was quite sweet and I really enjoyed the more fantastical hell elements near the end. It was. Overall, written well and enjoyable for story that would likely be hard to write for most writers. 3.5/5 rounded up!

I went into this with high expectations, and though it had its fun moments I didn’t end up loving it.
the premise sounded fantastic, but ultimately I felt that the pacing and how the story was developed ended up leaving me bored and detached.
the characters left me wanting too.. I never really connected with them or the romance. I wish we could have spent more time with them instead of all the events in the book happening in such a short span of time. With more time and more interaction, the romance could have been MORE, for lack of a better word.
it probably doesn’t help that I went into this with Colin & Truly on my mind. Those two have stuck with me!!! so that made it so much more apparent that this story was missing *something*.
I’m sad that this ultimately didn’t live up to my expectations, but I absolutely believe it will find it’s audience. It had some good humor, and a few scenes with great tension.

This was one of the cutest sapphic romances I’ve ever read! It was fun and quirky. The character chemistry was off the charts!!! This would be fun to read in the Fall season!

Unfortunately, this just didn't hit for me. As a few other reviewers have said, Sam's obsession with Hannah - who is never shown to be a complicated, nuanced person, and is instead an obvious clout-chaser and narcissist - was impossible to understand. Hannah was so one note, and Sam was so oblivious to her faults, that it was hard to root for Sam at all. While Daphne was fun, I wanted to see more development between her and Sam.
Giving some points for a few funny moments and a lighthearted premise, but this just didn't work for me.

*The Devil She Knows* has a devilishly fun premise—a sapphic twist on the classic "deal with the devil" story that feels like a nod to the movie *Bedazzled*. Lighthearted and cheeky in tone, the book introduces Daphne, a delightfully charming devil who steals the show every time she's on the page. She's easily the highlight of the novel: seductive, witty, and surprisingly endearing.
Unfortunately, the same can't quite be said for Sam, our protagonist. While I appreciated her arc in theory, I found it hard to connect with her emotionally, and her love interest—the woman she’s so smitten with she’d sell her soul—was so obnoxious it left me wondering *why* she was worth all that trouble. The chemistry between Sam and Daphne also felt underdeveloped; I wanted more of a genuine connection and romantic build-up to really buy into their eventual dynamic.
That said, Bellefleur’s writing is reliably sharp and full of charm, and the book works well as a campy, low-stakes supernatural rom-com. If you’re in the mood for something whimsical with a touch of hellfire and heart, this might still be a fun read.

This book was a delightful romp! The characters had incredible chemistry, and the writing was engaging. All the references spoke to my little millennial heart. I smiled basically the entire book. It also made me want to rewatch Bedazzled.

I received a free copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group; all opinions expressed are exclusively my own.
It's Bedazzled, but not the one with Dudley Moore, except maybe a little bit? I haven't seen the Brendan Fraser one so I can't say for sure on that front. But it's slightly spicy romantic Bedazzled in that a woman makes a deal with a demon in an attempt to win back her girlfriend, and the charismatic demon has some fun with maliciously complying with her wish. It gets way healthier, though, and sweet, and if you're a fan of rom-coms and fantastic journeys of growth, this will most likely be right up your alley.
For sensitive readers, this book contains references to infidelity, attempted suicide, inescapable contracts, emotional abuse and neglect, and grievous bodily injury.

Devilishly delightful! I'm a fan of all of Bellefleur's books and this was no exception. Big Bedazzeled vibes, which was great for nostalgia. There were some opportunities for spicier scenes earlier in the book that I was hoping for, but overall it was a romp.

I am so sad to say this book was not hitting for me!! I definitely wanted more spice, but I also just really wanted more development between the characters. Sam's obsession with Hannah clouded over everything for me :(

what a fun little demonic romp!!! if i've said it once i've said it a million times, i love dante's inferno to a concerning degree— and i somehow was not expecting so many references to it (and correct ones at that!) so points to miss bellefleur for that one. i would absolutely read a committed retelling of the divine comedy with sam and daphne instead of dante and virgil.
anyway! this was a fun and crazy book that hit nearly every nail on the head for me, but selfishly i was hoping for more forked tongue action! i think this will be a must read for anyone looking for their own blonde demon in a fluffy pink dress but alas it is not nearly as Sinful™️ as i anticipated.

"The Devil She Knows" tells the tale of a down-on-her-luck chef named Samantha who has recently been dumped by her girlfriend. She meets a sexy Sabrina Carpenter-coded demoness (Daphne) who offers her six wishes to win her girlfriend back, but naturally, nothing is quite what it seems when you've made a deal with a demon...
This was a cute rom-com that tried to do way too much. Sam went from being madly in love with her ex-girlfriend to being in love with Daphne way, way too quickly - perhaps if Sam's ambitions had been rooted in something not-romantic, I might have bought her new relationship with the demoness, but it was just terribly undeveloped and refocusing Sam from her ex to Daphne took like... a chapter?
It was an entertaining novel for sure, and I'd probably check out another Bellefleur book, but this one just didn't work for me.

Alexandria Bellefleur has been an auto-buy author for me for years, and this book only cemented that further. I absolutely loved the push and pull between Daphne and Sam and the way they were able to grow during their short time together. Bellefleur really shot for the stars with this book and I think she succeeded in every way. I love a book with a demon deal because there's so much creativity in the resolution and it is so fun to see that paired up with a romance (and a sapphic one at that)! There was so much wonderful tension between all of the characters and internally in Sam as well. The hijinks of her wishes made me laugh out loud and cry in turn. These two characters really fought for each other in a way that warmed my heart and made me root for them so intensely. This is a great read for any time of the year, but I think it will be extra fun for the Halloween season!

A Meet Cute with a beauty in an elevator? Every sapphic’s dream. Said beauty is a demon? Not so much. After a terrible day, humiliating rejection of a proposal and all, Sam is in no mood for devilish silliness. But Daphne, said beauty with a penchant for pink everything, makes Sam a tempting offer-six wishes; six chances to win back her ex, in exchange for Sam’s soul of course.Easy peasy for a smart woman like Sam, All does not go as planned, resulting in what Alexandra Bellefleur is known for-hilarious banter and delicious spice. Oh, and some serious stuff too.
This was a very fun read. I recommend it for sapphic romance fans who like a not too dark paranormal plot.

The cover drew me in, but the characters kept me around. I thought it was well-written and I already have some patrons in mind that I will definitely be recommending The Devil She Knows to. We will be purchasing for the collection for sure.

I will be screaming about this book to anyone who will listen.
I was first drawn to the book because of the cover. It is absolutely gorgeous and the story inside is just as good. I love how stubborn both Daphne and Sam are. It gives a lot of tension and slow burn to the story and romance. I also loved their banter, I lived for it. The spice was also so so so good. It was well written and (in my opinion) hot as hell.
I will be reading the rest of Bellefleur’s work and I look forward to doing so!

Sam is reeling after a failed proposal and the subsequent breakup with her Influencer girlfriend, Hannah. On her way home she meets an incredibly annoying (and incredibly sexy) demon (Daphne) in the elevator. Sam is prepared to do anything to get Hannah back... even if it means losing her soul in the process. As time goes on and wishes run low, Daphne helps Sam come to a startling realization and the two have to work together to pull one over on the devil himself in order to find their happy ending.
This was quick read perfect for anyone looking to escape the world for awhile. Both of the main characters are stubborn and their fire makes for a nice slow burn. The cover is gorgeous and the banter keeps things light and fun despite the main character navigating a toxic breakup.

I wanted to like this one so bad, but it just didn’t really impress or move me. I didn’t think the main interest was notable enough to have caught the attention of a demon who had made deals with over 500 people by the time we met her. That dominoes into the relationship between the two of them, which doesn’t feel genuine and lacks chemistry. I still think the premise is good, it just wasn’t executed well. All that being said, I do adore the cover and would 100% purchase it as an art print or something similar! Thanks to NetGalley for ARC access.

1.5 rounded up to 2 stars for the first 30 or so percent of the book.
im unfortunately going to be brutally honest here… this was awful and i fear that is me being nice in my wording for how i felt about this book… 😬
i was very excited to give this one a try as the cover and premise were STUNNING but this fell so extremely flat for me. the fact that 70% of this book is sam trying to “win back” the most atrocious person i have ever read about was insane. it got to a point where the longer i read this the more insufferable everyone but daphne became.
the wishes went on 100x times longer than was necessary, them going on to 70% left absolutely no room for any development for sam & daphne. by the time we got to where they even start anything i was too over sam to care.
this is the second book of bellefluers that i’ve done and did not end up enjoying so i just think maybe her writing isnt for me.

Sapphic paranormal romance
When our main character hit rocks bottom, she finds herself making a deal with a demon, Daphne.
The story was fun and entertaining, but I do wish we got a little more time/development with Samantha and Daphne together.
Overall, I really enjoyed this one!
