3 stars! Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for this arc in exchange for an honest review! I enjoyed this one, the premise was cute and funny. However, I do wish that the last half would have gone in a bit of a different direction. Of course I enjoyed that the fmcs got together but the plot seemed to stagnate for a bit.

Thank you NetGalley for this arc!

I love Alexandria Bellefleur’s work and I always will read what she writes. That being said, this was very much a departure from anything she’s written and honestly a departure from the usual rom com. The basic premise is: Sam has just proposed to her girlfriend of two years and it goes HORRIBLY. However, a demon named Daphne sees her desperation and offers her a deal. But you really never know what you’ll get with a deal with a demon?

It took me a bit to really commit to Sam. She kept making completely asinine decisions! Plus, for a long time, I thought her and Daphne were completely lust-fueled. However, it really turned around at the end and won me over! I think it’s a really well done paranormal and truly original.

After a flopped proposal, Sam encounters Daphne, a demon, in an elevator. An unexpectedly pretty, witty, and pink-loving demon. Daphne offers Sam a tempting deal in which she’ll grant Sam six wishes. The catch? Sam must sign her soul away to the devil and Sam will do just about anything to win her ex back. On the plus side, Daphne will let Sam keep her soul so long as she doesn’t use all six of her wishes. Simple enough. Only things don’t go quite as planned, and the wishes aren’t exactly foolproof.

It was sinfully good! I had to. I had to say it, and I’m not sorry. I absolutely loved the banter between Sam and Daphne. I thought it was great that Daphne was funny and loved all things pink. I would’ve liked for there to have been more of Sam and Daphne growing closer over time because their love story felt a bit rushed. Also, the word 'hell' felt a bit overused in the book. It was still an entertaining, funny, and spicy read. I recommend giving this sapphic rom-com a read. I’m just going to say it, and I swear it's the last one. The spice was hot as hell!

I’d like to thank NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group for giving me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was such a fun and quick read! I will continue to read everything that Alexandria Bellefleur writes because she really knows how to make the perfect blend of tension in her romance novels. I loved the idea of a sapphic Bejeweled and this lived up to all of my expectations! And I didn't even need to use a wish.

This was so much fun!! I enjoyed that we never really knew what was going to happen next. The forbidden-ness of falling for a demon who has your fate in their hands had me on the edge of my seat. I do wish the romance developed sooner as it felt a bit rushed to me but I understand plotwise why it didn’t. Overall a fun read!

An imaginative and emotional ride! I was immediately captured by the writing style and the MCs banter is to die for. I found each wish to be even more entertaining than the last and the overall arching story while funny is also very insightful. I love the way food is incorporated into the story and the author seems to have a deep knowledge when it comes to it. The only issue I had was the pacing was a bit wonky and I felt the relationship aspect came in way too late and way too sudden. Other than that, I think this is a very solid and fun book.

Read this one to the end despite wanting to DNF it like six times. I just couldn't with the premise. It was too dumb, and so was the MC. Like sooooo stupid. I didn't find the romance sexy or appealing at all. Idk, this just didn't work for me at all.

Before I get into my review of “The Devil She Knows”, I’d like to thank NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group for the early eARC.

This book was hands down a five-star read. Bellefleur is such an amazing writer and will one moment have you on the edge of your seat and the next will have you completely head over heels in love.

About midway through this book, I was expecting the MC, Sam to fall in love with a different character. The fast-paced ending was a nice surprise and worked very well for this type of story.

I can promise you now, that I will be thinking about this book for the next few months and definitely will be preordering a copy so I can reread it when it comes out.

I would highly recommend this book to absolutely anyone and everyone.

A BONKERS fun time!!! Bellefleur is a hit-or-miss author for me (half of her books I've loved, half I have super not), but dang if this isn't a hit!!

Bellefleur manages to create the perfect novel romcom, something that I am always looking for but that I think is also incredibly difficult to successfully do in the medium of print -- she wholly succeeds here. While the novel doesn't have the depth I usually look for in a romance, that is 100% ok by me, because the author DOES manage to create chemistry, tension, and momentum unlike any romcom I've read in recent memory. Bellefleur also deserves praise for writing a story that I think could be equally successful in print or film -- I would pay so much money to see this story on a big screen.

Had the time of my life reading this, and I've already told several friends to put it on their Autumn TBR's. Definitely will be purchasing my own copy & recommending the same at my library!

Rated 4.25-4.50 stars.

I've read another one of Alexandria Bellefleur's works, Written in the Stars, and adored the fraught, but adorable dynamic between the two main characters--and the situations that led them to the book's beginnings. I feel the same way about The Devil She Knows. This was one of my most anticipated reads of this year, and it lived up to its expectations. A down-on-her-luck and passionate chef, Sam, gets turned down when she proposes to her girlfriend of two-plus years and enlists the help of a demon in getting her back. From the moment Daphne shows up on the page, the two women are reluctant-partners in the grand scheme of a second, or third, or forth, or fifth, or sixth.... chance at love.

The characters are loveable, albeit secretive and bad at decision making, but as the story unfolds, we get a look into why Daphne and Sam are the way they are. I found myself loving the banter between them and especially the "wishes" that Daphne grants Sam in the latter's attempts to achieve a happy ending, or at the very least, some semblance of one.

The only problem I had with the book was the sexual intimacy between the two characters. While it was written well, and had me fanning myself at the palpable tension between the two, I found it unnecessary to the plot. If anything, shifting it to the subsequent chapter may have fared better. I just found it quick and that it didn't add much to the characters' connection at that exact moment.

Overall, a fantastical, adorable, and heartstring-pulling kinda read. Definitely will be recommending this to fellow book lovers, and absolutely one of my favorite reads of this year thus far.

this was FUN!!!!!!! this book was truly like nothing else i have ever read and i had such a blast with it!!! i have been really loving paranormal romance recently and my little devil Daphne was such a great addition to the paranormal bf/gf collection!!

as unserious and entertaining as this story was i did really appreciate the amount of depth we got in it too. it was so hard to watch sam struggle with her breakup and continuously trying to save something that was so clearly so bad for her but so touching to see daphne attempt to shine the light and pull her through.

This is an enjoyable rollercoaster ride to hell and back.  Laughs and zero-gravity butterflies included. Sarah Cooper makes a deal with the super-hot demon Daphne, hoping to win back her ex-girlfriend. Cue the shenanigans of “Be careful what you wish for". The resolution is glossed over; however, no questions are asked when Sarah and Daphne have endgame in sight.

Girl meets girl. Girl falls in love. Girl proposes. Girl is rejected. Girl makes a deal with a demon to win back her ex (as one does). Shenanigans ensue.

What a funny little book. The Devil She Knows is part It's a Wonderful Life part the Good Place. Desperate to fix what went wrong in her relationship, Sam offers her soul to a pink-swathed demon named Daphne in exchange for six wishes. Sam is convinced she'll be able to change her life without using all six wishes, but Daphne has some tricks up her sleeve. Thrown into alternate realities showing her what her life could be like if she was everything her ex wanted her to be and forced into proximity with the demon ruining (?) her life, Sam begins to realize that maybe changing who you are for another person isn't worth the price of her soul.

While "The Devil She Knows" is certainly a romance, it is very plot-heavy. It doesn't necessarily follow the same conventions that most contemporary romances do. Sam does a lot of soul-searching while grieving her relationship with Hannah, and while the story's central romance is neatly weaved throughout, it isn't in the forefront for at least the first half of the novel. Would definitely recommend for someone looking for something a little different!

Fantastic character building, but I felt the pace of the narrative was a little bit off. I wished (pun unavoidable) more time had passed in between each wish. I liked Samantha’s impulsiveness though, so I can imagine it would be challenging to give the plot more in-story time to develop while maintaining her character credible.
I loved every other book by this author. She is a great writer and it shows in the pages of this book as well. The post-breakup feelings that Samantha has were so well written and ao close to reality. I just wished the narrative had allowed more time for her to heal instead of jumping in and out of and in love again in less than 24 hours.

Thank you to Alexandria Bellefleur and Berkley Publishing for the gifted copy. All opinions are my own. ❤️

All Sam wants is to be with Hannah. All Hannah wants is to move up and be with anyone she considers "going places". After getting her heart shattered by Hannah while attempting to propose, Sam meets Daphne. A demon. Yes an actual from Hell, forked tongue, little tail demon. Daphne makes her a deal she can't refuse: six wishes for her soul. Anything she wants. Including getting Hannah back. The only problem is, making deals with the devil goes exactly how you think it would. The Devil isn't fair and neither are his demons.

What follows is a love story that's absolutely heart stoppingingly sweet, and swoony, and down right sexy! While it seems this book would be a bit campy and out there, it's exactly the opposite. Sure, there are Top Chef style competitions in Hell and multi-million dollar food heists, there's also a beautiful story that shows just how far true love will go, and while yes a ton of humans leave a lot to be desired, it's still worth finding the special ones.

I absolutely adored this book! Every last page. So far it's my top read of the year, and believe me when I say, it'll be hard to top! Alexandria Bellefleur is absolute magic, and only the queen of sapphic romance could make me fall in love with a demon! 😍

Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group for providing this book, with my honest review below.

The Devil She Knows was a fun take on ‘what could be’ alternative paths and be careful what you wish for. Samantha is the wisher here having been dumped by her long term GF Hannah after she proposes. She gets stuck in an elevator with Daphne, who turns out to be a demon who trades wishes for souls. I loved the paths Sam took with her wishes and some realizations about her life. Even more I adored the romance between Daphne and Sam, one which took a somewhat enemies to lovers turn and which revealed even demons can be vulnerable. I hope to see more romances like this one, with as much action and character development as the romance itself!

This book was completely unexpected in the best way. I had so much fun watching Sam burn through her wishes one by one, and the twist in the story genuinely surprised me. Alexandria Bellefleur pulled off a funny, sharp romcom that had me absolutely rooting for the demon. The banter, the chaos, and the unexpected turns kept me flipping pages, always wondering where the story would go next.

Fresh take on romance. I’ve read a lot of books and the dynamic between Sam and Daphne is top notch. I only wish it had been longer!

Disappointed that this one didn’t really work for me. I LOVE the cover and thought the premise sounded so fun, but the execution just fell… flat? I honestly couldn’t get into the romance. I felt like Daphne was really underdeveloped, the humor was forced at times, and I just never truly felt the chemistry between her and Sam. Also, Sam is chasing after Hannah for a majority of the book (Hannah is awful, btw) and by the time Sam and Daphne get together, I still didn’t really care that much about them. Bummed!

This book is soulful in a way I wasn’t expecting. From the poetry to the nuanced demon to the commentary on human nature and relationships…Don’t let the cover fool you, this romance is way more than a dalliance with the devil. It kept me up late at night thinking about the characters and how it would all play out. In the end, the romance is far sweeter than the title implies. The characters are all well developed and their storylines and attraction made sense to me. The references to Hell were interesting and Sam’s recipes were mouthwatering. My only critique- I wanted a little more from the spice but I love how it ended (not how I expected!). Really clever all around, a delightful read.

Short summary: all Sam wants is to be with Hannah, so much so that she’s willing to trade her soul…but what she gets is so much more than she bargained for.

Thanks to Berkley and Netgalley. ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.
