The Book of Modern Ceremony by Shari Dunbar Boyer is a really beautiful and unique book with something for everyone. The photos will definitely draw you in. There's plenty of information for having rituals and ceremonies for the traditional sabbats on the Wheel of the Year for witches, but it also includes events you wouldn't think of honoring through ceremony, like moving homes, dealing with illness, even celebrating friendship or changing your mindset. I do think there's more of an emphasis on doing these ceremonies with community, but there are still a lot of ideas for things to do on your own if you're more of a solo celebrator. Overall, a very interesting look at ways to honor all the moments in life, big or small, and a great book to have on hand if you're looking to be more intentional in your days.

Lovely, nurturing book with beautiful color photos throughout. The author addresses a gap in contemporary culture where we very often do not have rituals to mark important life transitions and milestones. This book is accessible to those new to the idea of creating/hosting their own sacred ceremonies and information and inspiration for those familiar with this subject. Would make a lovely coffee table book as well.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This was such a cool and unique book, and it is full of inspiration for celebrating everything in life. Not only does it explain the history of ceremony but then it explains in great detail the different types of ceremonies and the different roles, so that you can plan your own using this book as a guide. I love that it inspires us to celebrate not just holidays, but life events, solstices, and equinoxes. The photography was beautiful, and I loved that it included ceremonies for children and all genders.
