I love cruising and I enjoy picking up books that take place in places I've been. This coming of age story takes place in Barbados in 1989 when two sisters are sent to Barbados to live with their grandmother, a midwife. Sexuality and mental illness are a part of the girls lives. Most of all I think it shared with me a Barbados that one isn't aware of on a cruise shore excursion. I like recommending books like this to girls who travel. They need to see the real world away from the vacation centers.

Did not finish which is very rare for me. Nothing compelled me to keep reading after about 25%.
