I fell in love with Will Trent watching the show (based on the series from Karin Slaughter) and it doesn’t hurt that it’s rotted in where I live currently. I’ve read Pieces of Her and Girl, Forgotten, so of course I jumped at the chance for an ARC of her new series North Falls! It’s got all the hallmarks of a Slaughter book, twist after twist, an unflinching look at the mind of killers, and the small southern town miasma that can’t quite bring itself to the current century.
Just know, the first chapter is going to make your skin absolutely crawl. You are going to see everything wrong with what Madison thinks her future is going to look like. The mistake that youth thinks as adult is rarely the case. It’s hard to read but necessary for the rest of the story.
And truly, overall, this is a gut-wrenching read. From the exploitation of the two teen girls, overprotective parents missing the signs of trouble, to the failures of the school and the predators that hid what they were in plain sight. Anyone who spent time in a public school knows this grim reality and it doesn’t make it easier to read through. This is not a feel good book. It’s so damn well-written, you can’t help but get sucked into the deep darkness of the subject matter. This is not a get the bad guy in the end, even though they do. This is too real and reminiscent of events that take place every damn day. Add to that the special flavor of small town southern living, and you’re in the thick of it. I’d be mad a Karin Slaughter if this wasn’t written so damn well. I just wish we saw more pushback on the misogynistic and racist bullshit the main character Emmy experiences. Not speaking up is still tacitly allowing it to persist. It’s still living over our heads when we don’t push back in the moment. That’s really my only gripe.
It’s a solid read, and well-written. But it’s not a light subject matter, especially for a kidnapping and/or murder mystery. I didn’t see trigger warnings in the ARC, I do hope they plan to add them as they aren’t glancing mentions, this book is thick with them.
Thank you to William Morrow for providing this ARC for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

Thanks to NetGalley and William Morrow for providing me with an eARC.
Wow. Karin Slaughter has delivered again. I really liked the way both the plot and the relationship dynamics were done well. The characters were quite likeable (which I find to be rare in thrillers these days). The pacing and the timeline shifts were done well, especially the link between the cases. It starts off pretty slow but gets really addicting once you're hooked. All of the loose ends were tied up quite neatly at the end, including the ones about family. The introduction of Jude definitely did wonders for the story. There were a lot of scenes that were extremely uncomfortable, which made me angry and nauseous simultaneously. That really adds to the impact of the book because it didn't feel like mindless gore. Things started coming together at some point in the book, with all the missed clues and the profiling but I did NOT see certain twists coming. There were definitely a lot of shockers in the book. I have no complaints at all. Overall, a brilliant book. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes crime thrillers in all its gory details.

Karin Slaughter has a new fan!! I had not read any of her previous books, but I’ve heard rave reviews from a close friend. When we saw it was available on NetGalley she told me I had to request it and read immediately if I was approved. The book was so good and I was engrossed from page 1. Immediately after finishing this book I went to find more books by Karin Slaughter. I’m so excited We Are All Guilty Here is marked as book 1 of a series on Goodreads.

Thank you to NetGalley and William Morrow for the Arc copy of this book. I love this author and this story line has kept me on my toes. I would say that this book could trigger people so look for the warnings. Let me just say how much I loved Emmy and her dad and the relationship they had. Also there was a twist (actually a few) that I didn’t expect. One actually made me drop the book cause it was something I never thought of.

Karin Slaughter is the master with a super twisty thriller with surprise piled onto surprise even until the end. This was such a great story with the fascinating perspective of replaying an older mystery as a new one develops.
Thanks to NetGalley and William Morrow for the opportunity to read this ARC.

At 6% in I turned to my husband and Mother-in-law and said "calling it now, it was xxxxxxxx". Was I right? Yes. Did it change the fact that this book was absolutely amazing? Nope. Just goes to show I have trust issues.
North Falls looks like your average quiet town—until two girls vanish and suddenly everyone’s acting suspicious.
We Are All Guilty Here is a firecracker of a thriller: secrets, lies, small-town gossip, and just enough danger to make you double-check your locks. Karin Slaughter serves up twist after twist with a side of family drama and a whole lot of “who the hell can I trust?”
Nobody’s innocent, everyone’s hiding something. This is peak Karin Slaughter. Shady small-town vibes? Check. Teen girl secrets? Check. Absolutely no one you can trust? Double check. Slaughter does it again. 💥
Thank you Karin Slaughter, William Morrow, and Netgalley for the advanced copy!

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC**
No one can do a twisty crime thriller quite like Karin Slaughter.
This book had me on edge throughout the entire book and then sucker punched me with twist after twist until I was quite literally pacing and crying through the last several pages.
Fantastic!!!!!!

Lies, secrets, trauma and tragedy. What started as a typicaly 4th of July turns into something far more. The twist just kept on twisting. Shock value within the story is 5 stars easily. Just when I thought I had an idea of what was to come... here came another twist. Expect the unexpected with this story. Karin Slaughter is truly a genius. The story grasped my attention and held it to the very last page. There were some comedic moments which were welcomed because at some parts the story did get a little heavy and tension was high. The characters were easy to understand and relate to. There was never a dull moment. Talk about an emotional adventure.
Thank you Netgalley and Willian Morrow for the ARC. This is my honest and personal opinion.

We Are All Guilty Here is Karin Slaughter at her boldest. Seriously, this is dark, daring, and deliciously ruthless. Every chapter felt like peeling back another layer of secrets and lies so thick you could cut it with a knife (which, let’s be honest, someone probably did). This story is part psychological thriller and part emotional gut punch. (I dare you to try and put this one down) I devoured this book with equal parts horror and awe all while whispering ‘noooo’ and ‘oh my god!!!!’ at every turn of the page. Overall, this book was absolutely brutal in the best way. Highly recommend!
We Are All Guilty Here releases August 12th.
Thank you NetGalley and William Morrow for an arc of this book. All opinions are my own.

This one starts strong. A fireworks show, two missing girls, and a small town that feels more like a pressure cooker than a community. The setup had me hooked right away…. high stakes, layered characters, and that creeping sense of dread that something awful is just around the corner.
Emmy Clifton is a cop with a complicated past and even more complicated present. When her best friend’s stepdaughter vanishes, Emmy is forced to face everything she’s ignored, about herself, the people she loves, and the secrets this town’s been sitting on for decades. The way Slaughter peels back the layers of North Falls felt gritty and grounded, and there’s real emotional weight in watching Emmy try to chase down the truth while carrying her own regrets.
But even with all that, something just didn’t click for me. The pacing zigzags. Some plot twists land, but others feel a little forced. I loved the tension between Emmy and Hannah and the inner conflict of someone who wants to fix everything but can barely keep her own life together. Still, the emotional gut punches didn’t fully hit.
This book is a slow burn, and while the mystery itself is solid, it leans a little too heavy on backstory and internal monologues. It touches on trauma, guilt, and generational dysfunction, but I felt more told than shown by the end.
I recommend if you don’t mind a thriller with slow pacing! Especially if you like Karin Slaughter’s character-driven style and small towns that feel like they’re rotting from the inside. It’s not a bad read by any means, but it didn’t leave me wrecked or rushing to scream about it. Just a quiet, tense, middle-of-the-road experience.

You always think you know what’s happening in Karin slaughters books and then she just pulls the rug out from you. Loved this book. Hooked me from the get go. Highly recommend! Thank you NetGalley!!

Classic Karin Slaughter... making you think you know and realizing that you know nothing.
Emmy finds herself investigating two missing teenagers girls during the fourth of July. Except this case hits a little too close to home ;when its her best friend's daughter thats one of the missing girls.
Of course nothing will ever top her book Pretty Girls, but this definitely in the running.
Pros:
- The twists are top notch, so don't bother guessing and just enjoy the ride.
-great storyline that doesn't leave any gaps in the plot. love that.
Cons:
- not for people who are triggered by child abductions/assaults/ or anything involving children.
Thank you #NetGalley for this ARC of #WeAreAllGuilty which is hitting shelves on August 12th.

Wow what a story. I am honestly floored. This is my first Karin Slaughter book and while I really really enjoyed it and want to read more of her work, it was also SO heavy that I feel like I need 6-12 months to recover.
A few things I loved about this one:
- The relationships between Emmy & her parents, and Emmy and her son. It was a really important juxtaposition to the relationships of all the young victims and their parents and made me extra attached to Emmy and the Cliftons.
- The time jump was almost a crazy twist on it's own. When the two girls were immediately found in the beginning I was so confused, so to have it jump forward made it feel like an entirely different story.
- SO many twists and although I figured out who the culprit was at around 70%, the author did a fantastic job in distracting me from it and make me second guess my suspicions. It was almost more rewarding than if it had been obvious for the full last 30%.
- The extra twist at the end was a fun one! Having Jude come in halfway through the book again added an entirely new element.
The only thing keeping this from a 5 star read for me is the amount of graphic descriptions and truly saddistic verbiage (especially at the end) that was present. It was A LOT. I definitely understand the need for it to fully understand the gravity of the situation but it gives me some pause in recommending it and I never wantt o read it again.
With that said - an incredible, incredible read and one that will probably haunt me for quite some time.

Karin Slaughter is unmatched when it comes to this type of gritty crime thriller. Her books are shocking and intricately plotted without sacrificing character development. This one was nearly 500 pages and I was gripped the entire time. Thank god this is the first in a new series because I’m not ready to be finished with this story!

As a huge Karin Slaughter fan, I ATE THIS UP!!!!
This book had me on the edge of my seat the whole dang time.
Karin is a fearless writer and literally the queen of mystery. As a parent this book breaks my heart. From start to finish my heart was racing with all the emotions as if it were my kids being written about.
I will without a doubt be talking about this book for a long long time.

Wow this book was dark and twisted! I was skeptical about the time jump at first, but I loved the new direction of the story and following Emmy's detective journey years later. Ghosts of the past follow them into the present and that "doesn't feel right" sensation gets stronger than ever for our detectives as they get closer and closer. & That ending? Shocking and disturbing.

If I could rate this book Six Stars, I would! One of Karin Slaughter's best books by far, and I've read them all.
Two teen girls go missing during a 4th of July fireworks show in a small Georgia town. Sheriff's deputy Emmy and her father Gerald begin the hunt, with tragic results. The killer is found and sent to death row.
Forward twelve years. The alleged killer is freed due to new evidence from a podcast. Another girl goes missing. Is it a frame job or is the alleged killer back to work?
More tragedy in quick order and a new player from the FBI make the small town's residents suspicious of everyone.
Packed with power, passion and pumping suspense, We Are All Guilty Here is a masterpiece from Slaughter. Highly recommended.

I love everything Karin Slaughter does so I'm always happy to see something new from her. This was another good one, if you're a fan of hers you will definitely enjoy it!

This was my first Karin Slaughter book and WOW. So much happens in this book - in the best kind of way for a thriller. As a mom of young girls, parts of this were VERY hard to read. However, the storyline itself is excellent. The twists and turns are so unexpected. Then, after the killer is caught and you expect the story to be over, there is ANOTHER twist. I am really looking forward to North Falls book #2 to see how the dynamics at the end of this book play out.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest feedback.

This was another great book by Karin Slaughter. She never disappoints. Great story and easy fast paced read
