Another enjoyable read from Heather McCollum. The Highlander’s Fallen Angel sweeps you off your feet and transports you straight to the misty, wild Highlands of Scotland—where Tierney drugs and kidnaps the kind and fierce Kenan to help her save her home and prevent her from marrying a monster.

There are so many tender moments between the two of these characters. They both have to overcome their past traumas and while they are both strong in their own right, they learn what it means to have someone there supporting them.

A fake engagement, daring rescue mission, a witch, gliders, and alliances make this a fast read you can’t put down. Plus, there’s more of Aunt Morag and her crows.

Love to see a strong female main character who doesn’t need a man, but instead chooses to let the right one in.

The Highlanders' Fallen Angel by Heather McCollum is the second installment in the captivating Brotherhood of Solway Moss series. This tale delves into themes of trust, camaraderie, and resilience, all while weaving in elements of humor, heartache, and a blossoming romance between two deserving characters. Reuniting readers with beloved characters from the first book and introducing new faces (including a charming newt), this novel promises a rollercoaster of emotions that will have you laughing one moment and shedding tears the next. From the very first page, I found myself utterly engrossed in the story, eagerly anticipating what would happen next. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early copy of this book in exchange for a review.

This series continues to deliver! Kenan might not be sure about his future, but he’s pretty sure it doesn’t lie with the one who wants him. Instead, he’s certain that Tierney just might be important. So he goes along with her wishes to save her clan. But imagine everyone’s surprise when the truth comes out and far more dangers await them all.

Tierney may seem headstrong, but she’s surviving how she knows she can. She also doesn’t want to rely on a man, but Kenan is proving that not all men are horrible. So they embark on a journey to save others, each other, and themselves, and honestly? I loved the whole path from Never to Maybe to NOW for these two. I look forward to finding out what comes our way next.

4.5 stars — swoon-worthy Highlander + fierce heroine = yes please

This book was everything I needed in a historical romance — action, passion, stubborn characters, and a Highland setting that had me wishing I was wrapped in tartan by a fire.

Kenan is your classic brooding Highlander: loyal, a little emotionally closed off, and totally unprepared for the force that is our heroine (who I loved, by the way). The story kicks off with a literal crash — she tries to steal his glider (yes, glider!) and ends up needing rescuing. It’s chaotic, dramatic, and honestly, I was hooked.

What made this stand out for me is how much depth Heather McCollum gives her characters. This isn’t just a fluffy love story. There’s danger, political tension, found family vibes, and some really sweet moments of vulnerability between the leads. The banter? Chef’s kiss. The chemistry? 10/10 slow burn that pays off.

If you love stories about two people from very different worlds learning to trust each other, with plenty of swoony moments and a dash of adventure, definitely give this one a shot. It’s part of the Brotherhood of Solway Moss series, but it reads perfectly fine as a standalone too.

Can’t wait to read the next one!

A marvelous highlander romance!

Tierney and Kenan were awesome characters. I really enjoyed them a lot. Tierney was admirable and inspiring, while Kenan was super swoon worthy. These two had a fiery passion that light up the page.

The story was also filled with action and intrigue that kept me engaged. This was also fast-paced so it was easy to read and immerse myself into.

Would recommend!

I read this as part of a group read and I absolutely loved it. I felt that the MMC was an amazing character. The tension as well as sexual appeal with the FMC was not only entertaining but very appealing. I mean who doesn't love a Scottish MMC? The writing style was great and was descriptive enough that I could see the setting and the characters in my head. It had a very good storyline that was easy to follow. The spice level was exactly what I needed. I love that it was a slow burn in the beginning and it picked up its pace in a way that made me constantly turn the page to see what was happening next.

Tierney was willing to do whatever it took to protect her daughter and clan. She stole a flying machine, poisoned and kidnapped another clan's chief. She was a strong leader and to me the prefect match for Kenan.

Kenan was a tough warrior that was actually a big softie. He didn't know why but he was drawn to Tierney but he couldn't help himself.

This was my seventh book by Heather McCollum and easily my favorite.

“Control was something she’d never had in bed, and it was something she craved.”

Unfortunately, The Highlander’s Fallen Angel left me with mixed feelings. It isn’t a “bad book” (if such a thing can exist), and addresses tropes and themes I usually love like strong women, a golden retriever MMC, empowerment and choice… but it felt like to ME that something was missing, as if these themes weren’t completely explored. I can’t put my finger on what gave me that feeling. Is it because Tierney and Kenan’s goals and needs changed? Is it because they evolve in parallel and not exactly like a (willing) team? I don’t know and I’m pretty sure that is a completely personal feeling and won’t be a problem for most readers because separate characters are really great ones, and the gender switch for the abduction was an amazing idea.

This was a great highlander romance and perfect for fans of Outlander and other historical fiction/historical romance. I enjoyed it so much that immediately upon finishing I had to go back and buy the first book in the series to read another pairing in this world, I loved the inclusion of the flying machine and thought it was unique and memorable but in a way that felt organic and believable. Overall it was a well written and enjoyable read and I look forward to the next installment!

Reading this story I found it was sweet during the flirting scenes between the main characters Kennan and the FMC . The book showed some good interest between the characters and with the plot at the beginning. Somewhere after Kennans abduction the story fell flat. I was missing the action. The warrior emotions. The instinct of battle among clans. The things that a Scottish story with warriors built for initiation and sensual desire at night. This is not the normal reviews that I write for this author. Her books are normally irresistible and a pleasant read for me. Until next time my fellow readers read on!

I loved the characters in this book – both Kenan and Tierney – and enjoyed their story. Tierney is fiery and fights for what she believes in. She has wild ideas, but her heart is in the right place and sometimes they work. Kenan is a good man who is too hard on himself. They both believe in doing the right thing despite the challenges they face. While this book is the second in the series, it is the first that I read and works well as a standalone. Thank you NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the eARC!

Another fun highland romance. I love the fact that Kenan's defining characteristic is his kindness. And I enjoyed the silliness that occurred with Tierney and her many plans.

Recommended.

I LOVED this storyline. It was a fantastic read. Tierney is a great main character that shows how a person can overcome trauma and learn to love and trust again. I love how determined Kenan is to unite the isles.

I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

I really enjoyed this book. I love a good historical romance, and this had a good divide between romance, plots, and action. I couldn't put it down!

I really enjoyed this book. I LOVED Kenan and Tier's story. I didn't want this book to end and really had to pace myself. Morag is a hoot and needs her own book. It was also nice to see Rory and Sara again. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

To save her clan, Tierney is forced to capture Kenan and bring him back to her home in Scorrybreac, to put in place her plans. The arrangement is a complicated one as Kenan has other plans to strengthen his own clan via a marriage pact with his friend’s sister.

As the story proceeds, it is clear that Tierney is one strong and smart woman; and a survivor. It was nice to see Kenan being the first person who truly wants to protect her. As their decision brings forth strive, the danger surrounding them forces them to work closely with other allies. I especially loved how wise Morag was.

Talk about your engaging characters and strong storyline. I enjoyed reading this book. While there is romance that brews between the characters, it is more than just a love story. A story about trust. Trusting someone who can help heal your heart and let love in.

There were many side characters that added to the story. There is Edith, Doris, Tierney's daughter, Maggie, and Kenan's Aunt Morag. I am a sucker for cute children and the few appearances that Maggie made in the story, she stole the spotlight and my heart. Although, the one that did play a larger part in the story is Morag. She was a very intriguing character.

There are not a lot of romantic moments shared between Kenan and Tierney. This is because of Tierney's lack of trust and her past trauma. Luckily, Kenan recognizes this and does not push Tierney. She slowly comes to realize that Kenan has a kind heart, and she could love him.

Kenan and Tierney sharing a flight on the gilder put a smile on my face, but it was when Tierney yelled "I love you" that really got me smiling the biggest.

This is the second book in the Brotherhood of Solway Moss series and tells the story of Tierney and Kenan's historical romance set in the 1500s in warring Scotland.

Kenan has escaped an English prison with fellow rival clansmen and returned to Scotland with a peace oath between them and a promise to try to unite Scotland against English oppression.

Tierney has already survived through one abusive marriage and will do whatever it takes to try to avoid being tied to another abuser ever since her father has promised her through a marriage contract to another violent man from a different clan without her consent.

Tierney forces Kenan into a fake union with her in order to exploit a clause in the marriage contract her father wrote, even if it means starting a war between clans. Although as the charade progresses, the intensity of their feelings also increases for each other.

I really liked the way the author wrote Tierney's personal journey and her struggle with her abusive past, her self reflection and doubts, and then how Kenan helps her to see her self-worth, respecting her boundaries in order to process her feelings. It showed compassion, understanding, and made his character all the more lovable. There were plenty of other colorful and interesting characters in this story as well, and I'm already looking forward to reading the next installment in this series!
