Another brilliant read by this author told across the dual timelines of 1990 and 2025. A beautiful tale of friendships told against the beautiful backdrop of the Hong Kong sky.

This book was an emotional rollercoaster with engaging and relatable characters funny yet sad in places and a beautiful story of how some friendships really do stand the test of time and as the old saying goes you can’t choose your family but you can pick your friends.

This book had me hooked from the very first page and as is often the case with Shari Low books I was mesmerised and had to devour it in the one sitting!

I laughed (a lot) and I cried at this beautiful story of three friends who first met in Hong Kong in 1990 when they were young and carefree and living the dream performing every night in a packed swanky hotel bar.

Fast forward 35 years and Moira is all set for them to meet up again back where it all began but will the other two accept the invitation.

Honestly, Shari Low’s books are a blessing and guaranteed to cheer up even the gloomiest of days. A five star plus review … already looking forward to the next one.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced read copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

If Shari Low writes it, I can guarantee I'll read it and tell everyone I know they need to read it too!
I loved this one so much, especially as we met a few new characters who absolutely have to stay for the next books!
Can't wait for what comes next.

1990: In a hot, humid Hong Kong summer, three young singers are loving life, performing to packed crowds every night in a swanky hotel bar. Twenty-three-year-old Scottish songbird, Moira Chiles is living the dream alongside Carina Lloyd and Lisa Dixon. They work hard, play hard, and always stick together… until one day Moira has to make a choice that changes everything.

Fast forward to…

2025: In a wet, chilly, Glasgow summer, Moira has just retired after singing in Glasgow pubs and Caribbean cruise ships for three decades. Now she’s ready for a new adventure – one that takes her to Hong Kong to revisit a world she left behind. Moira hasn’t seen Carina or Lisa for over thirty years, but will an invitation to join her on a holiday of a lifetime rekindle the friendships that changed her life? Or will stepping back in time expose secrets that could break their hearts?

Loved it. Really makes you think about the what-ifs and the could of have beens. Will recommend to others

Oh my - Shari LOW, you have done it again!! One More Day Of Us follows the story of Moira who travels back to Hong Kong in search of her younger self, who she left behind in 1990. This book had me laughing, smiling and crying - sometimes at the same time!

I love that Shari Low's books can be read as standalone, but have enough crossover in characters that each time you read one, you feel like you've gone home and are catching up on the latest gossip!

One More Day of Us is an emotionally rich, heartfelt story about love, timing, and the choices that shape our lives. This is my first time reading a book by Shari Low, and I was immediately struck by her warm, honest writing style and her ability to bring deeply human characters to life.

The story unfolds with emotion, humour, and just the right amount of tension, making it a compelling and relatable read. It’s the kind of book that makes you reflect on our own relationships and the moments that matter most.

A beautifully told, uplifting story—I’ll definitely be reading more from this author.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 Stars – A Melancholic Heart-Warmer

One More Day of Us by Shari Low is a quietly powerful, melancholic heart-warmer that took me by surprise. I’m usually hesitant about books centered around older main characters, but this one completely won me over. The blend of voices, ages, and perspectives was spot on.

The characters—Moira, Carina, Stevie, Ollie, Nate, Ben, Lisa—are all fantastically written. Each one brings something unique and meaningful to the story. And then there’s that one character—you’ll know exactly who it is—who stirs up everything in all the right (and wrong) ways.

This book made me cry, laugh, and smile, often all at once. It’s emotional without being overdone, poignant without dragging. Shari Low has a talent for balancing sentimentality with warmth and authenticity. It’s a lovely, easy read that leaves an unexpected mark.

A solid 3.75 stars from me, happily rounded up to 4. Recommended if you enjoy ensemble casts, heartfelt themes, and characters that feel real

Shari Low is one of my must-read authors. Her characters feel like old friends by the time I finish the book, and it is especially fun meeting up with characters from her preious books. One More Day of Us held special meaning because I too have experienced the lost opportunity to re-connect with good friends from my past. If only the internet and social media had existed years ago! Thanks to NetGalley, Boldwood Books and the author for a copy to read and review.

Dear Lisa and Carina,
. . . Chums, do you realise that this summer, it will be exactly thirty-five years since we met in Hong Kong? July 1990. Oh my, what a time to be alive that was. And it did get me thinking . . . Aye, brace yourselves for this one. Now that I'm no longer constrained by my sea schedule and have developed a f*** it, life's too short attitude (that came with the landslide situation, menopause and the arrival of a new credit card), I'm going to take a trip back to Hong Kong. I want to explore it again, I want the nostalgia, the memories, and I want to see if the twenty-three-year-old me is still there, because lord knows, I lost her somewhere along the years.
Here's the crunch part. I'd love some travel buddies, but there's no one I'd like to do this with other than the two friends for life I met there. So how about a wee trip down memory lane, ladies? Hong Kong, the three of us, for one week in July. I know at first glance that seems crazy, but why not? It's been over three decades since I've seen your faces in real life, so surely it's time for an encore. Let's do it. Let's just bloody do it. Lisa, I don't want to hear all the reasons it's not a good idea. And Carina, I couldn't care less if you already have glamorous plans with far more important people. The twenty-something us deserve this. And the fifty-something us deserve this even more.
I've already looked into it and here's my plan . . .

ABOUT 'ONE MORE DAY OF US': Would you give up your dreams for love? ❤️

MY THOUGHTS: A lovely, heartwarming read about the bonds of friendship.

If you ever wondered where your young, vibrant self went, this is the book for you. How easy it is to lose sight of your dreams and your friends, as you age. It takes a brave person to look at themselves and say, 'Hey, I want my younger self back. I want my friends back in my life,' and then go do something about it.

Perhaps it doesn't go quite to Moira's plan, but that's okay, it makes for a wonderful and, at times, heart-wrenching story. Shari Low captures perfectly the freedom loving spirit of youth and contrasts it with the complexities of life as we age. Friendships wax and wane; people disappear from our lives; children arrive; we move house/countries - life gets in the way. But sometimes, you just need your old friends around you.

This reunion takes some unexpected turns as the women traverse the gap between who they were in 1990 and who they are now. Old memories resurface, a couple of mysteries are solved and possibilities for the future open up.

A read that ticks all the boxes and is best read listening to a Stevie Nicks soundtrack.

⭐⭐⭐⭐.5

MEET THE AUTHOR - SHARI LOW: Once upon a time Shari met a guy, got engaged after a week, and thirty-something years later she lives near Glasgow with the one they said would never last. Their children have now grown and scattered across the world, so she spends an inordinate amount of time on video calls and aeroplanes.

ARC REVIEW:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Shari Low is back with another unforgettable story centered around an ensemble of remarkable women!!!

1990 was a wild year for Lisa, Moira, and Carina. The three woman, who seemingly had nothing in common, formed an unbreakable bond. Brought together by a talent agency, they performed in the bustling city of Hong Kong for packed crowds. But like all good things, it had to come to an end. Unfortunately, the unlikely friendships began to fall to the waist side. Three decades passed with little communication. But when Moira decides enough is enough, she invites the ladies to meet her in the city that brought them together. Will they be able to recreate the magic of 1990, or will they discover there is nothing left to salvage?

One More Day of Us, showcases Shari Low’s masterful writing. This story is centered around female relationships in all of its forms (child, mother, friend, wife, lover, etc). By combining dual timelines and multiple points of view readers are given a bird’s eye view into the intricacies of three individual lives. While all three women begin the story in the same city, at roughly the same age, they go in three very different directions. Proving the simplest choice can have a dramatic effect on the outcome.

In addition to her phenomenal storytelling, I am blown away by how Shari Low formats her books. While this book is a bit more spread out, taking place over one week instead of a single day, it doesn’t let up once. From the start we are introduced to an ensemble cast of characters. Low manages to flush out each character’s backstory and in record time. Readers will be enthralled in the web she beautifully weaves. It just goes to show you don’t get to be a “#1, million-copy bestselling author of over 30 novels” by mistake!

My only regret with this book is that I didn’t read it closer to Mother’s Day. It would have served as the ideal time. One of the main takeaways is a child never truly understands the sacrifices their parent makes for them (ie Lisa and Stevie). As a result, it forced me to reexamined my relationship with my mother and helped me to see her in a whole new way!

Special thanks to Netgalley, Boldwood Books, and Shari Low for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

Love may come and go, but great friends last a lifetime.

35 years ago Moria, Carina and Lisa shared an unforgettable summer in Hong Kong. Life moves on and the girls drift apart so Moria decides to do something about it and arrange a reunion. Can they pick up where they left off or are some things better left in the past?

I adore this authors work and was very excited to get approved for this book by @netgalley. It’s hard not to fall in love with characters by this author and I did exactly that, great book and it made me smile all of the way through.

This was a very emotional read about friendship, the choices that we make and the consequences of those choices.
It was a beautifully written story sharing three women’s lives since they met and shared adventures thirty four years ago. Each of the women took a different path through life after they went their separate ways and this is their story, told by each over a dual timeline, showing us who they were and who they have become. The ending, when I got there, was the most perfect cherry on the top of this skilfully plotted tale.
As always with a Shari Llw book it was great to hear about some of the characters I have gotten to know in previous books, it’s not essential to have read any of them to understand this one, it just enhances the enjoyment as you know well some of the very minor characters that get passing mentions here.

Shari Low is that rare author who writes books that evoke another world so incredibly well and make you feel all the feels, whilst she is at it. I laughed and cried during the reading of this novel. And I wanted to go to Hong Kong as well (somewhere I have never been).

Moira, Lisa and Carina are three very different girls who are thrown together in Hong Kong, back in 1990 when they are young, single and all employed by the same talent agency. Moira and Lisa have incredible voices, Carina sings too but her forte is the piano. They work hard, play hard and enjoy life to the fullest extent that is possible. And then, as all things do, it comes to an end.

Fast forward to 2025 and Moira's life looks very different. She spent decades working hard and now she is taking it a little bit easier. She wants to reconnect with Carina and Lisa but what have the intervening years done to the "girls"? She doesn't know but she invites both of them to meet her in Hong Kong.

I am a little older than the three characters, since I did all of my partying etc in the 80's. It was a wonderful time to be young and single, it has to be said, and there are a lot of things that I can relate to when it comes to this story.

I won't spoil what happens but it was a relatable and emotional tale for me, told over two timelines.

4.5 stars from me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books.

Thanks Netgalley for the ARC. I know I said ARC but I have quite a backlog and I am glad I saved this to read when I could properly enjoy the book.

Being a fan of Shari Low, her characters are somehow connected in some way from different books and when I see someone familiar, it's like seeing a cameo you recognise in a movie! I love this in her books and I am always very excited to find out who are the characters going to be featured in her new book.

As always, this book did not disappoint. Slightly different from her previous books, with past and present in the plot, and how events and circumstances has led to all the characters being completely different when middle-aged as compared to their young selves, I could not put the book down as the story unfolded on how and why they were who they were. Some health scares as well in the book, to of course add a little excitement to the plot, but I will stick to my resolution of no spoilers and let you find out for yourselves what happened.

In anticipation of her next book!

This was such a lovely book. There was a lot of sadness but it was ultimately uplifting and heartwarming with strong themes of friendship, found family and living life to the full. It was written in past and present POV and focused on the lives of three unlikely friends who met in Hong Kong as young performers. They planned a reunion decades later after a lifetime of occasional phone calls, letters and emails. I really enjoyed learning about the different women and their friendships and the way their lives had developed. I liked the way the story linked in with characters from another of Shari's books too. A really enjoyable read
