Such a great book. Five stars hands down. Thank you for letting me read in advance. I cannot wait to see what else this author has to offer.

I liked this one, on the whole, despite almost giving up early on... The girls' banter and poor decision-making were really grating on my nerves in the beginning, and I thought it might be too eye-rolling-examples-of-foolish-behavior for me to enjoy, but I stuck with it (based on the largely positive reviews of others) and am glad I did because it settled into itself and from there was much more engaging.

I'm pretty far away from these girls' experiences in my own life, and admit I struggled to connect to their lives and perspectives for a while - that's definitely part of the issue I had early on. But I also think the pacing was a little slow-going, emphasizing parties and drinking and scattered young lives rather than the underlying mystery. Once things shifted to focus on that, as well as the secrets and lies underpinning so much of the girls' lives, I found the story much more interesting.

I too went to college in DC (GW not G'town), although my collegiate/post-collegiate experiences were nothing like these. Still, I liked returning to areas I was familiar with and found the use of DC/politics resonant and enjoyable to read. The writing style helped this along; Kovac has an easy-going style that draws you in, and she incorporates a lot of the small details that bring characters and a location to life. I do think the wrap up and resolution felt a little contrived, but given the nature of the entire story, that is in line with the rest of the storytelling style. I liked it, but didn't love it.

A fun thriller set in DC that brings in political intrigue, sneaky journalism and post-college friendships. Lucy and her friends are sharing a big Victorian house as they try to start their careers post college. Addie, a member of their group is dating a mysterious stranger, who turns out to be not only a TV personality, but the son of a famous politician who may have some dangerous skeletons in the closet. Things begin to heat up when he goes missing during an intense snowstorm.

This book had the makings of a good thriller, but unfortunately felt a little uneven to me. And the big reveal at the end is a trope that I truly hate unless it's done really well.

Overall, a pretty solid book and I enjoyed the setting and Josh's backstory. Would definitely recommend as a winter thriller.

A gripping, twisty thriller about friendship, loyalty, and secrets that won’t stay buried. Watch Us Fall pulls you into a world of privilege and suspicion when a high-profile disappearance shakes four close friends. With sharp writing and psychological tension, this fast-paced read kept me hooked!

Watch Us Fall has twists and turns, flashbacks, and suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat. There are enough clues to keep you guessing but when the truth comes out... All I can say is I didn't see it coming.

Lucy is part of the "Sweeties" a group of friends. When Addie`s ex- boyfriend Josh goes missing their world is turned upside down. Lucy though becomes obsessed. This is about secrets, betrayal, and lies. I enjoyed reading this mystery unfold and the tension was great. The twists I did not guess or see coming. The characters were all very compelling and different. I could not put this book down towards the end!

Thank you to NetGalley, Simon and Schuster, and Christina Kovac for the ARC of Watch Us Fall in return for an unbiased review. This wintry mystery, suspense novel can line your shelves December 2025!

Lucy, Penelope, Estella, and Addie are “The Sweeties.” Once college roommates, now family. They’re living in Washington DC shooting their shot in their respective careers. When Addie’s boyfriend turns up missing, they band together to protect their own. Little do they know that one lie at the beginning of their friendship ends up being their undoing.

Overall, this was a 3 star read for me. It was a slow burn. At times, it felt like pacing was off. We would stumble onto something exciting and then it would fade and then we’d gear up again for something just to have it taken away. However, I didn’t really hate anyone. The characters and their flaws were well defined and were 3 dimensional. It just took a while to get to the final destination then abruptly ended. Something I appreciated was the use of therapy and the recognition that big things happen and we all need a little help. Therapy wasn’t stigmatized but used as a tool for growth and healing.

Trigger Warnings: domestic violence, death (parents, significant other), grief, mental illness, brief ideation of self-unaliving (~one page)

Watch Us Fall is an engaging domestic thriller that explores ambition, secrets, and betrayal in a world where appearances matter. Christina Kovac’s writing is crisp and immersive, drawing you into the protagonist’s unraveling life with a steady build of tension.

The plot keeps you guessing, with twists that feel both believable and satisfying. A few character motivations could have been fleshed out more, but overall, it’s a smart, absorbing read that blends suspense with sharp social commentary. Perfect for fans of contemporary thrillers that dig beneath the surface.

This was a so-so book for me. It takes place in Washington, DC and focuses on 4 friends who live together and are very close, especially Lucy and Maddie. When Maddie's boyfriend, a popular TV journalist, goes missing, their happy lives are upended.
Lucy is the main character and she has had a traumatic childhood, a fact she has hidden from her friends. When Maddie's boyfriend is finally found, her life will.never be the same again.
I found it a pleasant read to begin with, but the mystery of the missing boyfriend felt unrealistic and the ending quite sad.

Watch Us Fall is a stunning and twisty suspense novel that had me hooked from start to finish. Christina Kovac expertly weaves a gripping missing-person mystery with a heartfelt exploration of friendship, obsession, and trauma.

The story follows Lucy and her close-knit group of friends—the “Sweeties”—as they navigate the glamorous yet fragile world of post-grad life in Georgetown. When their queen bee, Addie’s ex, Josh, goes missing, their seemingly perfect lives unravel. The tension builds beautifully as secrets, lies, and complicated emotions come to light, making it impossible to know who’s hiding what.

What really stood out was the depth of the characters and how the story dives into the darker side of friendship and celebrity culture. The pace is relentless, and the twists kept me guessing until the very end.

If you love smart, emotional thrillers with complex characters and plenty of suspense, Watch Us Fall is a must-read.

Watch Us Fall shows strong promise early on. We meet four delightful women and one handsome TV celebrity. The delight turns sour when the celebrity goes missing and is eventually found dead. The story then takes different turns. The narrator has been holding valuable information from the reader, and I did not appreciate the author doing that. Once that is revealed, for me, the story just falls apart and I cannot recommend it.

This was an easy-to-read suspense novel with interesting characters, a compelling backstory, and a great pace. I devoured it throughout the day and couldn’t sleep until I’d finished it! I definitely want to read more by this author.

This had serious Pretty Little Liars vibes with its tight knit group who would do anything for each other, the queen bee, and the secrets. The mystery definitely kept my attention and the ending had me crying. If you like suspenseful, emotional thrillers with strong friendships at their heart, this one is worth picking up.

Christina Kova’s book Watch Us Fall is about 4 college friends who room together all through college, and even find a house together after they finish college. The ladies are mostly from wealthy families. There are two of them who are particularly close, Addie and Lucy who take care of each other maybe beyond what would normally be expected from two unrelated people.

The issue begins when Addie’s boyfriend, Josh, who she had recently broken up with, seems to be missing. He is an investigative reporter who has been asked to take a major anchor position in New York City. He was supposed to report for a few days to cover the spot when he failed to show up. Addie is understandably worried and upset because she says he would not miss that opportunity for ANY reason. The rest of the book deals with trying to find Josh or at least figure out where he is.

There are a few options if there was foul play involved, but Lucy will absolutely NOT consider that it might be that Addie caused him harm. The police seem to be interested perhaps because Josh is a public person. The longer he is gone, the more involved the police become.

As the book approaches its conclusion, it becomes more and more of a psychological thriller. Twists and turns make the ending unpredictable.

I thought this one started out kind of slow. I was going to give it 3 stars, but as I continued to read I really appreciated the character development and how the story line changed. The ending didn’t shock me. 4 stars.

I received an advance reader copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I could not put this book down! Watch Us Fall hooked me from the beginning and the mystery had me captivated all the way through. I loved the author's writing style and how fast the pace was. I will say that there wasn't a lot of depth to most of the relationships. Like Lucy had been with her boyfriend for four years, but I had no sense of them having a strong relationship. It seemed like she barely thought about him. The same thing with the sweeties. Lucy was clearly close with Addie, but Penelope and Ester were there so superficially that I kept forgetting things about them. Also, I would have loved more resolution at the end. Despite all that, the story was so enjoyable to read that I'm still giving it 5-stars. I look forward to reading more by the author!

Thank you NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for the ARC.

Lucy and her three best friends' world is turned upside down when when Addie's (one of the friends) boyfriend goes missing under suspicious circumstances. The police soon zero in on Lucy and Addie as potential suspects, especially when it becomes clear that Lucy may not be exactly who she claims to be.

The first 75% of this book had me pulled in and interested in the dynamics between the characters, Lucy especially, and seeing what secrets get revealed as we go back and forth in time (before the boyfriend goes missing and after he goes missing), but the reveal of what happened to the boyfriend and who was responsible was such a letdown and anticlimactic.
