Thank you to NetGalley for this eARC. All opinions are my own.
This was a fun, light summer read. Nora is a school counseled who takes a special interest in a struggling student. When summer break comes and she goes away with her Gram to the beach, an unexpected visitor arrives and changes the entire trip.
I would have liked more romance and more depth with Nora and her history. Overall, it was an enjoyable story to read.

While I enjoy Jenny Hale as an author, I found this book not to be one of my favorites. The main character I am guessing Nora seemed to be lacking, I kept waiting for some pivotal moment, I never got it, Ivy who maybe was another main character went from troubled to boom okay, I felt like chunks of the story were missing. I struggled I guess I wanted more. Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

Out of the Blue by Jenny Hale is a must-read, feel-good summer romance perfect for the beach. The story centers around Nora Jenkins, a high school guidance counselor who’s helping a troubled teenager, Ivy Ryman, cope with the loss of her mother and the challenges of her father’s demanding career. Blaze Ryman, a music producer, struggles to connect with his daughter.
When school lets out, Nora and her grandmother head to the Gulf Coast for some much-needed sunshine and rest. But when some unexpected guests arrive, her well-laid plans are quickly turned upside down.
What I loved most about this book was the relationship between Nora and her grandmother. It reminded me of the summers I spent with mine on the Jersey Shore. I also appreciated the connection between Nora, Ivy, and Blaze. It felt authentic and relatable. The romance between Blaze and Nora was believable, and I rooted for them throughout the story.
I read this book in just a couple of days. It was the perfect way to kick off the summer.

Out of the Blue by Jenny Hale is a sweet and emotional story about love, family, and new beginnings. Nora, a school counselor, is helping Ivy, a student who is dealing with the loss of her mother. Ivy’s father, Blaze, is a famous music producer who doesn’t know how to connect with his daughter. When Nora goes on vacation to the beach, she’s meets Blaze and Ivy when they unexpectedly show up on her doorstep. As the three of them spend time together by the sea, Nora helps them heal.. This is a warm and feel-good book, perfect for summer reading. The way Hale describes the beautiful setting, you might feel like you actually are on the beach….and who doesn’t want that at summertime?!

Out of the Blue is a perfect, feel-good beach read. Nora is a high school guidance counselor who finds herself invested in her student Ivy's difficult family dynamics. After the school year ends, she takes a long awaited trip to the Gulf Coast with her grandmother and Ivy unexpectedly shows up with her famous father Blaze close behind. Nora finds herself getting closer to the family but then things get complicated.
This is a love story but it doesn't follow the traditional romance formula. Nora and Blaze's relationship is only part of the story. I loved reading about Nora getting stronger and questioning her life choices as we all do and pushing herself to have new experiences. The character growth in this book is strong.

Jenny Hale's Out of the Blue offers a delightful escape to the sunny Gulf Coast, where a planned tranquil summer takes an unexpected, and romantic, turn. We meet Nora Jenkins, a dedicated high school guidance counselor whose hands are full with her new student, Ivy Ryman. Ivy has been causing quite a stir at Oakland High, a challenge compounded by her father, music producer Blaze Ryman, who struggles to manage his daughter amid his demanding career. Nora, however, has a soft spot for Ivy, understanding the struggles of a girl who has lost her mother and is now living with her "mega-famous" dad.
As summer break finally arrives, Nora eagerly anticipates a much-needed retreat to the turquoise waters of the Gulf Coast, dreaming of sparkling surf and relaxing cocktails on the beach. Her wish for peace is about to come true—until Ivy and Blaze unexpectedly appear at her beachfront doorstep. Hale masterfully sets the stage for a heartwarming story of unexpected connections, showing how life's most surprising moments can arrive "out of the blue," bringing with them the promise of new beginnings and blossoming romance.

Out of the Blue was a perfect "clean" romance. Jenny Hale tells a simple romance so well. A lost surly, rebellious teenager, her famous and also lost father meet her school counselor Nora who starts healing them and also herself. Beachy, summery and heartfelt! A lovely novel

Very cozy, feel good vibes. I enjoy many of Jenny Shakes books, for they are realistic to daily struggles and uplifts the spirit.

I loved this story! I loved the relationship between the school counselor, Nora, and her student, Ivy, who is struggling over the death of her mom and being moved to live with her estranged dad.
I was very moved by the therapy side of this.story and how grief was dealt with. I also liked the budding romance between Nora and Ivy’s dad; although it was very predictable.
This is a short and fast read perfect for a summer read.

I really enjoyed this book. Once I started it I didn't want to put it down. I recommend that if you haven't read it yet you should.

I loved this story, I felt so invested in the characters and just couldn’t put it down reading it nearly in one sitting. Not only was it a great story but it left me feeling motivated and inspired to love life to the full and make the most of every moment.

This was a fantastic novel about the different stages of life, how we impact and help one another. This made me want to hug my child tightly and dread the days of the teenage years, but also hope to have a community of support around me for when that time comes. This was a great summer/beach read with thought provoking themes and of course some slight romance that is out of the blue!

This book really picked up after after the first third of the story. Before that, it was almost a DNF for me, due to Blaze's daughter Ivy. She was a very unlikeable teenager who expected the whole world to knuckle under to her pain of losing her mother and not relating to her father. I kept trying to follow the story but here came Ivy again , almost ruining the lives of those around her. Most of the other characters caved to her.
I have enjoyed Jenny Hale's other books.

I loved this book! Its about finding love and families learning to know one another. I couldn't put it down.

It is no secret that I absolutely love a delightful heartwarming Jenny Hale story.
Out of the Blue by Hale did not disappoint. I enjoy her writing style, her realistic characters with realistic life experiences.
An emotional and uplifting read. That captivated me from the very beginning.
It's an engaging, quick read and one that will warm your heart and fill you with happiness and hope.
I always get this sense of warmth, happiness, and belonging when I read one of Jenny’s books and Out of the Blue is no exception.
It is chock-full of characters that are so genuine.
The pacing and flow of this book were just perfect.
This book is beautifully written and I was completely absorbed throughout and was devasted when I came to the last page and realised I had to say goodbye to these characters.
A heartfelt story that will leave you feeling satisfied in the end!
There is absolutely nothing that makes me smile bigger than a moving novel written by this author.
Thank you Jenny Hale and Publisher for this eARC.

Loved this story! Perfect for a summer weekend or a beach read, or anytime for that matter. Great plot, likeable characters and a great ending. I loved how the story evolved and included so many different types of characters. The characters were well developed, well described and relatable.
This was a wonderful light romance that also included life lessons and shock full of human compassion.
This is a book you won't want to put down.
Wonderful author with lots of books to choose from, I haven't read her books before but she's on my TBR list now

Out of the Blue by Jenny Hale is a wonderful book filled with emotion, family, and life choices. Nora Jenkins is a high school counselor who is the only person to bond with a new student, Ivy Ryman. Ivy's mom has passed away and she lived with her alone since she was little. Ivy has now been placed with her very famous, successful music producer father, in Nashville. Ivy hasn't had a relationship with her father since her parents divorced when she was 4. Ivy's mom told her lots of negative things about her father and she wants nothing to do with him. Blaze Ryman hasn't been a father to Ivy in a long time and he's in over his head. He doesn't know how to get through to Ivy without making her angry. Can these 2 find a way to work things out and become family again?
Nora is the key to that as she's the only one Ivy will talk to. She fires all of the therapists that her father hires, but will talk to Nora. The other teachers send Ivy out of class for her behavior and stunts. She put a virus on one teacher's computer, threw test papers out the window in another teacher's classroom, and the list goes on. The principal has decided that Nora will meet with Ivy every day before school and at the end of the day. He knows that Ivy needs help and Nora is the only person she talks to. Nora has tried to get Blaze to come into school, but with his schedule it's hard to reach him. Finally, Blaze meets Nora at school to discuss Ivy's behavior. When Nora finds out how unprepared Blaze is to deal with a teenaged girl, she knows she has to help. She gives Blaze tips on how to talk to Ivy and what she will respond to. He's happy for the help, but knows that Nora is leaving on vacation when school ends in 2 weeks. How is he going to make it through the summer with no help?
Nora and her Gram are going to a beach cottage in Florida for 2 weeks. It's been one of Gram's dreams since her husband passed away as he always wanted to go. Nora and her Gram have lived together since Nora's parents died in a car accident when she was in her 20's. Her grandparents were so good to her and she got through the tragedy because of them. Can Nora find a way to do the same for Ivy? Nora knows the pain Ivy is dealing with and can't imagine going through it at her age. Nora feels close to Ivy and wants to help her through her grief.
Once the school year is over, Nora and Gram head to Florida. They love the cottage they rented and can't believe they get to enjoy it for 2 weeks! Gram was right to rent it and Nora didn't realize how much they both needed a vacation! As they're fixing dinner, they hear a knock at the door. Who could it be? There's no one around. Imagine Nora's surprise when she opens the door and finds Ivy standing there! Will Nora be able to help Ivy now that she's crashed her vacation? Does Blaze know that Ivy drove all night to find her in Florida? How can she help them get closer to each other when they're in different states? This book gives you all the feels and you will be cheering for all of them to find what they need. I rate Out of the Blue 5 stars with my highest recommendation. The book is available now and is a perfect beach/summer read. I'd like to thank NetGalley and Harpeth Road Press for an advanced copy of Out of the Blue in exchange for a fair review. #OutOfTheBlue

Great Beach Read!
An enjoyable story about a school counselor who takes a troubled girl under her wing to try and help her. Only to realize how much she enjoys this type of counseling and not the college and career counseling she was hired to do. This story was cute because her grandmother lived with her after her grandfather died, so it had a nice change of pace with that relationship than other books do. Her grandmother talks her into a beach vacation while school is out for the summer, because life it too short. There are some revelations from her grandma and that father of the girl that she learns at the beach. The ending pages were great and I enjoyed seeing into the future.
Thank to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc.

I loved the easy relaxed pace of this book. I feel like going to a beach holiday myself. It is well written. Giving hope to the future is the best. What is meant to be, will be.
