This was a Fun,light hearted rom com overall a decent book but not my all time favourite of hers. I will still continue to check out her other works

Thank you to the publishers, author and NetGalley for the free copy of this audio book.
I really enjoyed this rom com! Likeable main and side characters and a sweet romance. I would read more by this author.

I love me a good Katherine Center novel. The love haters is a fun, sweet and funny rom com perfect for the summer time reading. The characters were definitely not perfect and some things that bugged me but overall, I enjoyed it. I love Katherine's writing so much.

This is a wonderfully charming and deeply affecting novel that masterfully blends humor with heartfelt emotion. The story leads to a cascade of humorous mishaps, unexpected romance, and a poignant journey of self-acceptance and body positivity. Overall a delightful and resonant read about finding courage and embracing who you are.

3.5 stars.
I’ve always thought of Katherine Center’s novels as light women’s fiction even though the bright illustrated covers convey a different genre. After reading The Love Haters, I finally reclassified her books in my mind as rom-coms, hoping I’ll enjoy them for what they are. Ms. Center believes fiercely in the importance of reading romance, and I don’t dispute this. I’m just always surprised at the heavy emphasis of physical comedy in her plots (but by now I really shouldn’t be).
The Love Haters is Katie and Hutch’s story. Fearing for her job, Katie accepts an assignment to film a profile about Hutch, a Coast Guard rescue swimmer. She travels to Key West to capture him in his element, and her inability to swim, his avoidance of the spotlight, and his beloved dog cause all sorts of madcap situations.
Her romcoms include at least one “serious” subplot, and I could relate to Katie’s issues with her physical body. Hutch, of course, has some things to work through as well. Several points of the story were touching, but they were far overshadowed by Chevy Chase-level slapstick comedy which doesn’t always appeal to me.
Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and Macmillan Audio for the review copies of this novel. Summer definitely feels like the perfect season for reading Katherine Center’s rom-coms.

I've really enjoyed the last few books from this author so I was excited to read this one. The main character suffers from some body issues/dysmorphia which can be triggering to some people. It did get to me how she was talking about her body and how she was trying to be smaller to not be seen and I cried, was irritated and frustrated with her as well as empathizing. I think if you can get past the weight issues and her low self esteem the story is really heart warming. I liked Hutch and his dog George Bailey, and his aunt Rue and her pals. I didn't love Cole and his shenanigans but not everyone in a book can be perfect. Overall I thought the story was good, worth reading but not my favourite from this author. It did make me want to read more of her backlist to see what else she has written though.

A Coast Guard rescue swimmer, a videographer, a rescued Great Dane (afraid of thunderstorms) and an incoming hurricane. This is an absolute utter delight, and Patti Murin's narration just gets it.

I chose the audiobook version to experience this book. I have read other books from Katherine Center and appreciate her thoughtful character development. Katie was very relatable in the way that her insecurities impacted her relationships, particularly the one with herself. Rue and the other ladies living in Paradise, bring fun, wisdom, and perspective to Katie's life. I really enjoyed the varying relationships in this book: friendship, family, professional, and mostly importantly the relationships we have with ourselves.

I didn’t think the day would come where “Hello Stranger” would be dethroned as my favorite Katherine Center book. . . but here we are. I LOVE “Love Haters!”
As with all good books, there are parts that make me cringe and parts that make me swoon, Parts that make me laugh and parts that straight make me cry! I love to feel allll the emotions while I am on the ride and this book delivers.
If you want a book to throw and hug at the same time with a guaranteed happy ending, I couldn’t recommend this one more.

Katherine Center's The Love Haters is a delightful read that's perfect if you're looking for a romance with a little extra spark. Center delivers a cast of truly colorful characters who are a joy to spend time with, and the witty banter keeps things moving. What's really fun is how she weaves in just enough suspense to keep you on your toes, adding a nice layer of intrigue to the charming love story. It's a genuinely enjoyable escape!

I really enjoyed this audio book, the tone and humor matched the written copy, but brought the book even more to life.
Katie, a videographer for a small production company, just found out her boss is downsizing, and her supervisor has assigned to her a job he was supposed to do. Making a recruiting video for the Coast Guard featuring his famous hero big brother, Hutch, who he described as a “love hater”. But Katie is soon caught by surprise when “Love hate” is actually the opposite of that, and while filming him sees the human being he really is, fun, smart, kind and loving? Katie and Hutch grow closer, while Katie struggles to try to save her job. I love the narrative voice of this book, it’s humorous, and fun to read, with magnetic characters. Katie and Hutch have an immediate spark that feels natural, and you get pulled further in as they get to know each other and surprise each other. One defining original trait of Katie is her low self-esteem when it comes to her weight, we see her work on loving herself with her best friend’s “Beauty List” demand of her.

Grumpy sunshine and forced proximity are my jam so I throughly enjoyed this book. The book brought all the vibes you could need. Like any Katherine book it has all the emotions and some triggers, so be cautious.

There is nothing I love more than the ooey gooey feeling that comes from reading a Katherine Center novel, its like a perfectly made PB&J on a summer day, pure delight.
I dont know if I have loved one of her FMC's more than I loved Katie. She was strong, resilient and wanted to do the work to become the best version of herself and heal after all she had been through. Her body image and color-phobia is something SO many women can relate to, and I LOVE that she got that little spot in the sunshine to do it.
Now, Hutch is a good guy. Like, not just the MMC kind of good guy but the GENUINELY good guy kind of good. Saves peoples lives for a living good. Doesn't hate his brother (when he should) kind of good. AND then add in he rescued a rambunctious great dane?? GOLD STANDARD.
Hutch was patient, Hutch was kind. Hutch was hot. Hutch was a dream man written on paper for us all to enjoy, and I thank KC for that. What a delight!
The brotherly tension? Goofy dog shenanigans? Loveable elderly woman who all but adopts Katie upon arrival? THE SLOW BURN AND FORCED PROXIMITY??
What more could you want??

This was a fun summer romance read. I love Katherine Center’s writing and pacing. She does a wonderful job of creating relatable characters and realistic conflicts. Definitely worth a listen.

The company Katie works for is having a massive layoff so she can't say no when her boss asks her to do a video interview of an internet hero who turns out to be his brother Hutch. He's in the coast guard and a video of him rescuing a famous actress's dog went viral.
The characters in this book are well developed, realistic, kind, and dealing with their own trials and difficult past experiences. I don't know if aunt Rue was based on a real person but I hope so because she is the most amazing woman.
Katherine Center books are always fun to read and this is my new favorite. It’s fun and romantic but also meaningful and deep. And it’s clean. The only thing I would change is some language. The audiobook is enjoyable too. 4.5 stars! Thanks to the publisher for an ALC via NetGalley.

Okay I loved this book so much. A tad too much reliance on the miscommunication trope for my liking, plus all the lying. I'm glad it wasn't on the MCs part, also in my opinion, the resolution made sense. I like how Center incorporated a bunch of things within Katie's character and none of them felt too glossed over. TW- EDs, disordered eating, parental loss, body shaming, among others. Some of this may be from Center's personal experience but also derived from research. Speaking of research, I think she did a lot of good research with the coastguard (MMC Hutch's profession) and Katie's career lane of working in the media as a videographer too. I learnt a lot of amazing information I didn't have any background on. Patti Murin did a fantastic job of narrating the story as usual. This is a super entertaining fun read/listen, I'm sure I'll come back for a reread soon.

Thank you @macmillanaudio for the gifted audiobook! Thank you SMP for the eARC! The Love Haters by Katherine Center is a perfect summer read! Katherine Center's writing is always so engaging. Her characters are emotional and realized. I feel that I've been more connected with the character of Katie and her journey than any other of Katherine Center's protagonists.
Body image is something l've always struggled with and to see it represented and handled realistically (and with great care) was particularly important and resonated with me.
The cast of characters in this book is excellent. I loved Katie, her best friend Beanie, Hutch 9, & of course Rue was a gem.
Although as a big dog lover, George Bailey may be my favorite. This book is full of heart and laughs, but also handled dealt with grief and pain. I thoroughly enjoyed the love story between Katie and Hutch, it's so clear that they're a good fit and I enjoyed their relationship so much. I had a hard time putting this one down as I enjoyed it so thoroughly! A perfect beach read, a very cute summer romance and my favorite of Katherine Center's works so far. Highly recommend!

My girl Katherine Center has done it again! This is right up there with The Rom-Commers as one of her best. The cast of characters is delightful, and the chemistry between Hutch and Katie simmers. The only thing that I didn’t love is that this was a slow burn romance. There was a ton of build up, but it didn’t deliver until close to the end. Otherwise, I loved it. Oh, and Patti Murin was a great choice for a narrator—she’s one of my favorites!
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Really great Sumer and beach read, Katherine center is always pretty good at delivering those. The narrator does a great job and really holds your attention while you are listening.

This was so cute! The perfect summer read. I loved the connection between these two it was undeniable but the banter was also top tier.
