2.5 stars. I wish so badly I liked this book but between the cringey dialogue, the half-baked worldbuilding and the mistaking of what was supposed to give bonnie and damon, i couldn’t get behind it.

close enough, welcome back Twilight (positive)! Britney absolutely delivers when she said she was inspired by Twilight and The Vampire Diaries - a little of this also echoed the love i had for the Vampire Academy books as well. it was poetic and lyrical, lush and dangerous, and such a fun read. really enjoyed this and looking forward to how everything gets wrapped up in book 2!

*screaming* Why!? I need the second book like now! Omg, this book, Blood Moon, was everything I needed and wanted in a black paranormal/fantasy romance with a semi-love triangle! This book will give you Twilight and Vampire Diaries vibes, but so much tension! I just need to know what is going to happen and how this story is going to come back full circle. Highly recommend. Highly recommend.
The audiobook is narrated by one of my favorite narrators, Adenrele Ojo. She did a phenomenal job! Her male voice is chef's kiss! Very easy to listen to and also understand. I listened at 2x speed. I really didn't want this book to end.
Thank you, NetGalley, Page Street Publishing for the ebook and RB Media for the audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

4.75 🌟🩸🐺🌚
it is extremely hard for me to be enthralled by a fantasy novel, but this one had some special magic (britney…britney is the magic).
the comfortability and confidence mira holds herself with is beautiful, and her learning how and when to open up about her suppressed feelings and her mother’s departure are so well-paced. last 20%(ish) of the book i was whisper screaming, so far on the edge of my seat that i could’ve won an award for my endurance and balance. britney does an amazing job of writing a female identifying protagonist who empathizes with others just as much as she fights for herself. it’s so rare to see FMCs who are fully confident in their ability to become a better person without the help of a MMC to realize they deserve better. mira deserves the best for herself (& answers about her heritage and destiny) because she deserves it, not because a man on a college campus tells her she does. period.
julian, julian, julian…my guy…we have some work to do! but alas, i know you’re cut out for the work to be the man mira deserves in her corner. you’re almost 🤏 there. you have my vote!
bobby! my love! 🫂 i’ll help you find a therapist ♥️

thanks so much Netgalley, Page Street YA, & Britney for the eARC ❣️ love u big

Thanks to netgalley for this Arc!
Vampires and Werewolves? Say less!
Mira is heading off to college and ready for a new journey to begin. It’s been a tough time for her as a young woman after her mother up and left her 5 years old. Once on campus, she was running into old friends and making new ones along the way. Until a boy she doesn’t know comes up to her one day and tells her she needs to leave. But why?
Ok. I enjoyed this. Some things were a little suspect as far as the main character goes. My good sis was busyyyyy. But overall she was really just trying to embrace being in college and making the most of it. I was not expecting some romance in here, but there she was. Nothing insane, but I’d give it one pepper from Chili’s. Overall, I definitely plan to read the next book because that cliffhanger had me wanting more.

“I know what you are.”
“Say it…out loud.”
“A Twilight fanfiction.”
This book was one of my most anticipated books of the year. While I did have fun reading it, the first half of the book felt like I was dropped in an alternate reality Twilight. Despite changing some things and adding more original scenes toward the end, the central plot line was essentially Twilight. There were literally whole scenes that were exactly like Twilight. The lunchroom scene? The “I look so repulsed by you, but I’m actually not” scene? The “I know what you are” scene??? The main character’s name being Mira”Bella”?? I had to pause midway through the book and start playing the Twilight score because it just didn’t seem right not to. I can’t describe the feeling other than reading a werewolf-centric twilight fanfiction.
As a big fan of Twilight, the enjoyability was absolutely there for me. Even though it leaned more towards fanfiction territory than “inspired by,” I still had a lot of fun reading Blood Moon. It just felt slightly awkward because of all the many moments taken from another book.
Now the back half of this book? That’s when things started to get really interesting. I had an extremely hard time putting this book down towards the end. I wished there were more moments like that in the first half! Julian’s reveal towards the end? Yeah, that shocked me!
Despite my mixed feelings about how closely this was modeled after twilight and the vampire diaries, I will absolutely continue this series. I’m really hopeful that book two will stand on its own more and have more moments like the ending.

BLOOD MOON by Britney S. Lewis was one of the books I was really excited to get to this year. Unfortunately it did live up to my expectations. I’m sad because I really wanted to love this book. I admired Britney’s willingness to bring diversity and representation into her stories.
I felt that it was far too similar to twilight and the vampire diaries, a bit of a copy and paste of those stories I wish there was more originality to the story to make the story its own. I wanted it to feel fresh, unique, and new.
I also felt the relationship of the characters felt forced, I wish there was more time but into the characters development and relationship. Felt too tropey and alot of moments felt repetitive and dragged on quite a bit. The pacing for the story felt slow and rushed at the end.
Thank you Netgalley for this opportunity to read and listen to the audiobook.

Britney S. Lewis’s Blood Moon reads like a love letter to 2010s paranormal YA, and its nostalgic tone makes it a natural fit for a Netflix series aimed at fans of The Vampire Diaries, Twilight, or Teen Wolf. The story of Mira Owens, torn between a mysterious, supernaturally gifted Julian and the secrets of her own family’s past, blends forbidden romance, high-stakes supernatural conflict, and small-town legend in a way that would translate beautifully to the screen. The pacing is brisk, the world-building accessible but detailed enough to support a multi-episode arc, and the mix of college life, family intrigue, and magical mythology gives it layers that could appeal to both teen and young adult viewers. While the novel leans heavily on familiar tropes, fast, strong mysterious boy, ancient family secrets, and star-crossed love, it does so with a sincerity and energy that makes it highly watchable. 3.5 stars: a bingeable, nostalgic paranormal romance that could easily capture the streaming audience’s imagination.

This was described as the perfect book for fans of Twilight and anyone that thought Bonnie deserved better in The Vampire Diaries - and I have thoughts about that!
If you miss the high school melodrama of 2010's paranormal YA romances, then you might be in for a treat! That said, I am a little heartbroken that I didn't love this as much as I was hoping to :( The similarities with Twilight were a little too much - from the dichotomy of one MMC being instantly cold and rude while the other is like a literal puppy that hates the other guy (wink) - (see: Edward reacting to Bella like she makes him want to hurl and Jacob being... well a literal dog) down to an eerily familiar scene where he travels through time and space to save her (see: truck in school parking lot scene). The characters are college-aged, but they had all the flavour of the high schoolers in every vampire novel I read in high school.
If you have nostalgia for that era of paranormal romance, you should absolutely consider picking this up!

This book gave me moody, nostalgic Twilight vibes while still feeling completely unique!
Between the mystery of Mira’s mother’s disappearance and the animal attacks, there were so much spooky vibes and questions!
I really enjoyed the romance too, Julian quickly became a favorite!!
After that cliffhanger, I can’t wait to see where the story goes next!
Thank you NetGalley and Page Street Ya for the ARC.

4 stars Blood Moon is atmospheric and addictive—a dreamy blend of supernatural lore, slow-burn romance, and small-town secrets. Britney S. Lewis nails the moody vibes, and the emotional depth gives the story real heart. A few pacing hiccups, but overall it’s a compelling, beautifully written escape. I’ll definitely be thinking about that ending.

I absolutely loved this book! I read this book in one sitting couldn’t out it down, it was a fun experience reminded me of vampire diaries and twilight but with their own spin on it I’m excited to see where this author goes next

The positives:
Parts of the ending surprised me! I love when a book makes my jaw drop and that happened here.
I liked Mira’s independence. A lot of fantasy books make the main character seem weak or needy. While Mira was struggling with things, she was still strong and determined.
The friendships Mira created at school were really nice. I love a supportive friend group.
The characters felt realistic (most of the time) and relatable.
The negatives:
This story is way too similar to Twilight to ignore. The scene where Julian saves Mira from the cliff reminded me so much of when Edward saves Bella from the car in the parking lot. When Mira is figuring out what Julian is, he makes her say it just like Edward made Bella say it. Mira’s father is a cop, just like Bella’s father. The list goes on.
I had whiplash from the back and forth with Julian over his feelings about Mira. It felt clunky and confusing. Also, the love triangle didn’t feel like a love triangle. Especially with the reveal near the end, it seems like there is a clear choice. Maybe there’s more to come on that in the next book.
I think the author tells you too much instead of letting the story reveal things to you. The writing didn’t flow smoothly to me either.
Overall, the quality of the writing and the similarities to Twilight made it hard for me to really enjoy the story. I don’t think I’ll read the next book.

This fantasy romance novel was fun and thought provoking! It is also in the young adult genre, which is filled with all the Twilight vibes! It is dark, mysterious, adventurous and tense. It had lovable characters, vivid descriptions and was definitely memorable. It comes with vampires and werewolves!
Overall, I give this 4 out of 5 stars!
Thank you to NetGalley

Blood Moon by Britney S. Lewis is giving small-town secrets, werewolf legends, and major myths are real energy!
Mira just wants a normal start to college, until a creepy letter from her long-lost mom shows up, weird animal tracks start appearing, and the hot but grumpy guy in her class might be not entirely human.
Turns out those local stories about werewolves and vampires? Absolutely true! And Mira’s right in the middle of it all with a legacy that changes everything!
It’s twisty, emotional, and full of slow-burn tension and supernatural drama.
⚡️Thank you Toppling Stacks Tours and Britney S. Lewis for sharing this book with me!

An exciting blend with coming of age and supernatural legends. This one reminded me a lot of Twilight! If you love the books or movie then you’ll love this one.
I enjoyed the twists with the vampires and werewolves and the legends. I wanted to dive more into things.
Mirabella, the main character, reminded me a lot of Bella from Twilight. She had the same kind of curiosity and innocence to her in regard for the supernatural world. I did love the twist in the end with her character.
Julian was a mystery. There was a lot of secrets he was hiding and it was enjoyable to uncover them all.
I enjoyed the banter between the characters and the push and pull.
If you love Twilight, love triangles, werewolves, vampires, academia settings, forced proximity, family secrets, fated mates, and more then check this one out.

This was such a fun read! From the very first page, I was hooked by the fast pace, the layered mystery, and especially the incredibly diverse and vibrant cast of characters. I love when a book leans into both magic and mystery, and this one had just the right balance.
Mira is such a compelling main character. I loved following her as she untangled the many threads of her story: the haunting disappearance of her mother, the creepy animal attacks in her town, and of course, the broody, golden-eyed enigma that is Julian Santos. The tension between Mira and Julian was written so well, and their dynamic added a lot of emotional weight to the plot.
One of my favorite parts was the mythology and lore woven throughout. The world felt rich and lived-in, with those nostalgic supernatural YA vibes I always crave, like a warm throwback to the genre's golden era, but with its own fresh voice. The magic system was unique and intriguing, and I really appreciated how it unfolded alongside the mystery, piece by piece.
That said, I did feel like the pacing dragged in places, and there was more telling than showing at times, which pulled me out of the story here and there. But overall, those were small bumps in an otherwise gripping and immersive experience.
If you're into paranormal mysteries, reluctant heroes, hidden family secrets, and love triangles with actual tension, Blood Moon is definitely one to add to your TBR. I’m really excited to see where this series goes next!
My copy of this book was provided by NetGalley and Page Street YA for review purposes. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Blood Moon by Britney Lewis is the paranormal romance, I’ve been waiting for and it completely pulled me in form the jump. With the faintest hint of my personal faves Twilight and Vampire Diaries — but with a fresh, thoughtful voice and richly diverse characters that set it apart.
Synopsis: Eighteen-year-old Mirabella “Mira” Owens grew up in Timber Plains, Kansas, hearing legends of werewolves who protected her town from vampires. After her mother disappeared when she was thirteen, Mira stopped believing in those tales. Now, as a freshman at Lakeland University, she seeks a fresh start. However, strange animal attacks on campus and the enigmatic Julian Santos draw her back into a world she thought was mythical.
This is a story full of atmosphere and slow-burning tension, grounded in tropes I love: forced proximity, a perfectly executed grumpy + grumpy romance, and yes — fated mates. The chemistry? Tense. The stakes? High. The world building? Intriguing and layered, with just the right balance of mystery and emotion.
The representation in this book felt intentional and meaningful, bringing depth not only to the main characters but also to the paranormal elements — which are handled with care and creativity. I especially appreciated the how identity and otherness are explored through a supernatural lens. And let’s not forget the awesome friendship group!! Oh my heart was so happy!!
It’s moody, emotionally charged, and just eerie enough to be a perfect read for autumn. UK readers — this one lands October 2025, just in time for spooky season, and trust me: it belongs on your ‘ber month TBR!
Thank you to @NetGalley and @PageStreetYA for the eARC — I already can't wait for the next instalment.

Definitely for fans of Twilight, and I would also add in fans of the Vampire Academy series as well. This is a slow-moving for most of the book, with a lot of the text being the main character, Mirabella, understanding that something is off with every person around her but not knowing what. She is in the center of... sort of a love triangle, I suppose, and those two characters also refuse to tell her what is going on. At around 75-80% of the novel, the action picks up, and then in a chapter or two, all of the information that was withheld from Mira and from the reader is sort of pushed out quickly, answering most questions and raising a few more.
I think I was not the target audience for this. I was hoping for "Twilight but modernized," maybe a little camp, definitely self-aware. I don't really feel like this had the fun, campy vibes I was looking for based on the description and comps. In general, it felt like the story prioritized big reveals over more thorough explanations or leaving hints for what was going on. It ends with another big twist cliffhanger, but I'm not sure that I feel invested enough in the characters to want to read the book to find out what happens next.

IF YOU LOVED VAMPIRE DIARIES....youll love this book!!! Okay so imagine if Twilight had better vibes, actual diversity, and a main character who isn't just biting her lip every five seconds, that’s Blood Moon. Mira rolls up to college thinking she's just here to study and vibe through her grief era, and instead ends up in the middle of a supernatural Hunger Games where everyone’s either hiding a secret, turning into a wolf, or brooding in a hallway like their life depends on it. She’s got trauma, a missing mom, ancestral visions, and now apparently she might be supernatural royalty? Girl give her a break. The romance is giving slow-burn triangle energy, on one side we have Julian, the walking red flag but make it hot and mysterious, and on the other we have Seven, the childhood friend who literally radiates safety and golden retriever energy. I was internally screaming “kiss him” at least four times but Mira’s too busy unraveling centuries of werewolf drama to care about my emotional needs. The vibes? Immaculate. The pacing? A little slow in the first half, but once it picks up it does NOT stop. The atmosphere is full send fall semester dark academia with a blood moon twist and honestly if this becomes a series (which it better), I will be seated and feral. My only complaint is that some scenes feel like they were directly copied from Stephenie Meyer’s notes app but the rest is so gorgeously written and emotionally layered that I don’t even care. 10/10 for spooky girlies who wanted Bonnie Bennett to get her own show instead of trauma support duty in Mystic Falls.
