Slow Down, Busy Bee (Audible Audio)
by Trevor James
A relaxing audible book showing the nature of learning to breath through the things of the day. Each adult teaches busy bee, how to handle his mindful breathing. The story uses the five senses, and other mental images to help with mindful breathing.
The days of little busy bee also show the use of kind words and understanding. Each of the adults talk to busy bee about their view point of the events of life. Changing the terms we use to change our view point of life.

The narration was great. Thank you the author, the publisher and to netgalley

This book was a little too sensitive to me. I wouldn't find it useful in my cclassroom. It would be more appropriate for students lacking empathy

My kids and I all loved this so much! The one thing I will say, is that we usually listen to audiobooks at a faster speed. And this book is narrated quite slow. When increasing speed, because of the music and sounds, it made the listening experience harder to enjoy at higher speeds. Overall tho, the stories are super cute and have great messages!

What a sweet and fun audiobook. Everytime we are in the car, my three year old asks to listen to the busy bee book!

Busy bee is so busy he forgets to enjoy the moment and take in his surroundings. His friends help him to use mindfulness and build up tools for his “toolbox” to keep present, to stay calm, and even to go to sleep. The narrator is wonderful and her voice is so calming. We really enjoy listening to a new chapter each drive to or from school.

Thank you to NetGalley and RBmedia for the ALC in exchange for an honest review!

Slow Down, Busy Bee by Trevor James and narrated by Jane Wing—what an apropos name, given the story—seems like a lovely and worthwhile audiobook to play as part of a bedtime routine. In fact, I can see it especially helpful for children who might have struggles with anxiety or with going to bed without mom and dad around.

The story introduces mindfulness activities in a gentle, accessible, and thoroughly creative way that could really help kids slow down, breathe, and find some calm. The characters and the story are cute overall and make introducing all the concepts fit in really well.

On a personal note, I didn’t really love the audiobook; I’m the kind of person who listens to basically everything on x2 speed and it was extremely difficult to listen to this book as intended—Jane Wing reads this at an agonizingly slow pace—and, while I understand the purpose behind a slow “mindful” reading, it just drove me nuts. I had to speed it up, regardless, and just couldn’t help repeatedly thinking that it would be impossible for me to listen to on my own.

All that said, I definitely think that this is a worthwhile audiobook to play for some kids who could benefit from mindfulness and breathing activities.

This was a very cute audiobook for kids, and well done. A compilation of short stories that introduce, explain, and show how to be mindful, how to take deep, slow breaths, how to ground yourself using the 5-4-3-2-1 method with the 5 senses. The narration is interactive and well done. It's a great book for little kids, introducing good coping skills.

What a wonderful book on mental wellbeing and mindfullness!

I listened to the audiobook version of Slow Down, Busy Bee and I absolutely loved it. Jane Wing did such an amazing job narrating this story, such a calming and inviting voice. The sound effects (windchimes, wind, buzzing) just added a little extra, and made you feel like you were in the garden with the characters.

I really enjoyed how all six chapters have a different themes but it all comes back to mindfulness and how to use the skills the story is teaching you. I worked with small children for a long time and I could picture this being a great tool to teach mindfulness and mental health tools in the classroom. I specially like the breathing techniques, perfect tools for de-escalation techniques.

Trevor James did such a great job on this book, and even though it is said to be ideal for children ages 3-8, I feel like all ages could learn a lot from it.

As a busy bee myself striving to raise a more mindful child—and to cultivate more mindfulness in my own life—I absolutely loved this collection of mini stories. Each one is short, sweet, and engaging, making it perfect for little attention spans and busy schedules. I had even tried to see if I could get physical versions I could incorporate into bedtime routine.

My 4-year-old son and I listened to the audiobook in the car, and he really connected with it. He would breathe in and out along with Busy Bee, which was incredibly heartwarming to watch. We typically use the Calm app for mindfulness stories, so it was refreshing to try something new and just as effective. This was such a lovely addition to our mindfulness routine.

What an adorable collection of stories! We now love Busy Bee and the audio is perfection! Complete with background effects such as water, wind and of course buzzing. This is a perfect way to wind down at the end of the day

This audiobook was an absolute delight! As a speech-language pathologist and a parent of a 5 and 8 year old, the content of this audiobook was spectacular. I enjoyed that it was a guided exercise that was easy to digest for little kiddos to help with self-regulation and reflection. The narrator and the music brought this to life. I particularly enjoyed the buzzing bee sounds used for the exhalation during the guided exercises.

A Mindful Journey for Little Listeners

Thank you to @RBmedia for this audiobook ARC!

As both a licensed mental health counselor and a mom to a toddler, I was immediately drawn to Slow Down, Busy Bee by Trevor James, narrated by Jane Wing. In my work with children and families, I’ve seen firsthand how essential it is to provide parents with tangible tools for managing behavioral challenges—and this book does exactly that.

Through the story of a bee who struggles to slow down, this audiobook gently introduces mindfulness, gratitude, grounding techniques, and emotion regulation. Essentially, it’s CBT and DBT skills wrapped in a child-friendly narrative, making complex concepts feel natural and accessible for young minds.

Jane Wing’s narration, paired with engaging sound effects, makes this an excellent alternative to screen time—both interactive and educational. Whether you’re a parent, caregiver, or educator, this is a wonderful resource for helping little ones develop emotional awareness in a fun, engaging way.
