Honestly, this was my first Skunk and Badger and I ultimately left it confused how I feel about it. I believe this is a type of book that I ultimately need to hear feedback from a kid reader to determine how I feel about it, or stocking it in my public library. The thing that clocked as immediately bizarre was the subject matter RIGHT off the bat. Skunk and Badger are very quickly discussing adult topics, which maybe could be just the right level for a little old man child, but also just seemed random and potentially boring. I can’t imagine EVER recommending this to a child, or who it would be recommended to, but that might just be me being wrong. It’s possible this will hit a sweet spot for someone, but I also found the cover vibes (seems early reader) to be contradictory to what is inside (some larger vocabulary words, and full on pages of text + chapters). Odd! VERY interested to hear younger reader feedback, and if the ones who are interested are properly comprehending what’s inside.

Skunk and Badger are spending the winter raising two young rats. Zeno and Zephyr, who are growing very, very fast and so is their mischief! Badger needs to write a rock paper and Skunk needs to get vegetables. Who will they ask for help? Sound the chicken alarm!
Lots of fun and interesting problem solving. Badger and Skunk have as much to learn as the rats.

Thank you to NetGalley and Little, Brown Books for Young Readers for this DRC.
