I read this book as a digital copy. Please see my review there. I felt it was a very slow read and there were missed opportunities to develop the story line much more. Especially with the supporting characters.

"Sometimes home is a place. Sometimes it's a person. Sometimes it's both."

Romance, humor, faith, and emotional depth combine to create an unforgettable read.

On the surface this is a romcom full of witty banter, romance, hilarious misadventures, and unforgettable characters...but look deeper and you'll find this story is beautiful, layered, healing, and inspirational.

I absolutely fell in love with Scotland, Katie, Graeme, and the whole MacKerrow clan!

Pepper Basham has such an electric way with words. Her ability to draw emotion and hold you captive and then release it at just the right moment with a look, a touch, or a witty retort is everything! I get completely lost in her books, in the worlds she creates and the characters she breathes life into.

I had the opportunity the listen to the audiobook after reading the book and let me just say...the narrators are phenomenal! The accents, the emotion, the pacing, the way they truly brought the story to life, all combined to create an excellent listening experience.

I highly recommend this book in whichever format you prefer!

Katie Campbell has a travel blog; it is not your usual travel blog. Katie shares stories about people she meets along her way. She was raised traveling; her father was an army chaplain which meant moving a lot from one town to another, from one state to another, from one country to another. She grew up making new friends and collecting stories. She managed to take her talent and turn it into a very nice career.
She is offered the opportunity to travel to Scotland for an Edwardian event at Craighill House. She visits with the towns people collecting stories and Scottish myths. The guests are an eccentric bunch. They are expected to live an Edwardian life for three weeks. When she arrives, she is greeted by a parrot swoping through the air. There is a Scot handyman, Graeme, that catches her eye. He appears to be grumpy but as she gets to know him her opinion changes. He is actually very striking, dashing, and formidable. He is raising his nephew. Katie is a bit accident prone and the strong Scot always seems to be there to recuse her.
Katie wants a home, a real home, one with roots, with a man that loves her, one with children but she also wants to continue traveling. Katie has never known true love or the comfort of home.
The romance between Graeme and Katie was so sweet. His family was delightful, especially his nephew. This tale has strong overtures of Christianity. I love this tale. The author’s note was touching and added so much to the story.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

Thank you NetGalley and Thomas Nelson publishing for allowing me to listen to this audiobook I really enjoyed this book. I read a lot of different genres but I enjoy a nice clean rom com book ever so often and this one did not disappoint.. Katie is a travel blogger/writer who has traveled everywhere. But nothing like Scotland. Graeme is so funny the banter/ wit between these two was perfect. I can’t wait to read more from this author this book made me laugh and cry a little yes I know I’m emotional (haha) but it was worth it.

This is my second book by Pepper Basham’s and I can’t wait to read more.

This book is so fun. So full of heart and humor and a swoony Scotsman.

Katie is absolutely adorable. I love that she was travel writer. She’s in Scotland for an Edwardian experience to share with her followers. (Oh my goodness, so many funny moments from that and Katie’s “misadventures”.) I love how Katie immersed herself into Craighill and Scotland. It makes me want to visit. The author did a fantastic job with the setting and characters. I loved the town and the knitting ladies. Lachlan (he was adorable. I loved his and Katie’s sweet relationship) and Graeme’s mum were also wonderful.

Graeme’s painful past was enduring. And Katie’s losses and disappointments were hard too. Each of them finding what they needed in each other was wonderful.

Once Katie broke through Graeme the grumpy beast, their conversations were so lovely. But the ones before that were just as good too. Graeme and Katie had amazing back and forth banter. The dual POV showed the inner thoughts of each so well.

I loved the shout out to Jaime Jo Wright!

And wow that kiss! The ending, it was simply perfect. (The author’s note also tugged at my heart.)

The audio narrators were fabulous. They played these characters just right. Joshua Manning nailed the Scottish accent and the other he needed to portray. Stina Nielsen too did a great job. Their expression and tone were so well done.

I received a NetGalley link from the publisher. And a NetGalley approval from the publisher for the audio book. All views are my own.

I enjoyed Some Like it Scot by Pepper Basham. If you enjoy witty banter in your romcoms, this one is for you.

First and foremost, the audio voice actors did a great job! Unfortunately all these Ireland/Scotland romances are all too similar. The male main character has a family member that died, and they have some sort of hidden talent that they’re not sharing with the world that the female encourages them to share. And someone is always named Callum. I’m just not sure why it can’t be made a little more unique?

I found the main character to be insufferable when she was having conversations with her brother. She kept encouraging him to make more of his art and that they should visit her abroad. He clearly explains that he’s focusing on his family right now and that they don’t have any money. And she continues to harp on him!! What?! It was just annoying to read over and over again. In the end it balances out which I appreciate.

It wasn’t bad by any means, but I don’t think I’ll recommend it to anyone.

This book was heartwarming, hopeful, and made me giggle. I absolutely had a great time on my adventure with Katie. I found this to be very emotional, as I could feel the grief of the characters so well. The writing was so fun, and I loved all of the puns. Definitely a book to pick up if you love romance books with lots of depth! I listened to the audiobook and absolutely loved the narration from both of the narrators.

In “Some Like It Scot,” Pepper Basham weaves punny humor, Edwardian history enthusiasts, quirky characters, animal encounters of the comical kind, poignant themes of sibling grief, and a grumpy / sunshine romance into a braw narrative tartan.

An affectionate ode to Scotland, this contemporary rom-com will whisk readers away to the Isle of Mull with vibrant descriptions enchanted by whimsical folklore.

If you fancy a humorous highland misadventure, Some Like It Scot is sure to be your cup of heather tea!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. A favorable review was not required. All views expressed are my own honest opinion.

Pepper Basham has done it again!

The whole premise of an "Edwardian experience" is fun and quirky. Most of the book takes place in Scotland, and I was happy to immerse myself in that beautiful setting. The adventure and "Miss Adventure" is quite entertaining!

The relationships that develop are so good! Sometimes I just want some loving, joyful people and this book has it. There are some serious topics, too, and I did cry. But I also cry at the God moments.

Katie and Graeme have my heart. Plus Graeme's mom and nephew. I might like this family more than Basham's Edgewood family in her Skymar trilogy! Highly recommended!

I listened to the audio. It was well done, quite entertaining, especially the accents!

I received an early audiobook as a member of NetGalley and was not required to write a favorable review. These are my own honest thoughts.

This is my first book by Pepper, and it won’t be my last!
Katie is running from life by being Misadventure, the travel writer. Graeme is determined to be the best uncle and keep his family together. When they both end up being a part of an Edwardian experience, things get complicated and hysterical (Think Austenland in Scotland with Edwardian dress.)

"Dancing with Katie Campbell fed my dreams. Bantering with her across the kitchen table fed my heart."

I adored the characters and how much I connected with them. They feel like people you know. Maybe it’s just my Scottish heritage, but I was here for it! Katie and Graeme are witty, kind and loveable as were all the side characters. I loved everything, the sheep, the puffins, Wedge, the quilting ladies, the hills, the small town, the rain, the dancing and the highland cow. 🙂

“I want to spend as much time with you as I can Katie, if you fancy spending time with me.”

AUDIO:
Oh my gosh, @tnzfiction the narrators Joshua Manning and Stina Nielsen @stinanielsen.actor @js_manning are amazing. It was so easy to listen to the story, even when I sped it up. They did a fantastic job with the Scottish brogue and bringing each of the characters to life. I could listen to the narration for Graeme all day long, so swoony. When he calls her Lass..or uses Katie Girl. The inflections and changes in their voices to each character was well done and easy to follow. It was an immersive experience and I will be looking for more books with these narrators. It felt like I was in with the characters where they were.

“I’ve been wandering a long time, trying to find out where I belonged, but I’ve never felt so much at home as when I’m with you.”

I really enjoyed reading Some Like it Scot! It is such a sweet romance with sizzle whenever the leads are together! Humorous at times and exciting! The author really immerses us into the world of Scotland. With its beautiful scenery, traditions and folklore! Katie travels the world telling others of her adventures (and misadventures) through her work as a travel writer! Then she literally falls all over her ‘hot Scot’. This grumpy sunshine romance is adorable and swoon worthy! The audiobook has the perfect narration for all those Scottish brogues. I received a digital copy of this book from NetGalley in trade for my honest opinion. My thoughts are my own.

While I appreciate the chance to listen to this book, I don't think it was for me. I couldn't connect with the characters. I'm not sure if it was the writing or the narration that made it so difficult for me to get through, but I just couldn't do it. I found myself nodding off instead of actually listening. Given I was not able to connect with the book, I did not finish it. I'll be giving it 3 stars just as a base rating, as I think if I had read it instead of listened I would have liked it more.

Some Like It Scot offers a mix of romance, humor, and a dash of Scottish charm. Set in the picturesque Highlands, the story follows the chemistry that developed between Katie, a travel writer,  and a "hot" Scot. While the the banter between characters is fun, this book also explores themes like loss and grief. This books was a little tough for me to push through. I could not connect with Katie and Graeme's characters. Overall, it's an entertaining read that will appeal to fans of clean, Christian romances with a Scottish twist.
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for giving me the opportunity to review this ARC.

If you’re a sucker for grumpy/sunshine dynamics, swoony heroes, and Scottish charm, Some Like It Scot will absolutely steal your heart—and maybe make you want to book a trip to the Highlands ASAP.

Pepper Basham delivers a delightful contemporary Christian romance full of heart, humor, and hunky Scots. The adorable meet-cute kicks things off with a smile, and it only gets better from there with a gorgeous Scottish setting (yes, there are Highland cows!) and a cast of lovable characters. Our tall, sunshiney travel writer heroine finds herself stuck in a historic Edwardian manor house alongside a broody Scot with a heart of gold. Cue the forced proximity, witty banter, and accidental chaos—aka “mid-adventures”—that had me laughing out loud more than once.

The dual POV gives us a rich glimpse into both characters’ hearts as they go from enemies to something much more. It’s also a beautiful tale of found family, especially thanks to a group of meddling (and hilarious) knitters who are absolutely impossible not to love.

With no spice, the focus stays on the emotional and spiritual connection, and the sweet slow burn is all the more satisfying because of it. Basham does a wonderful job weaving in faith and personal growth without ever feeling heavy-handed.

Whether you’re in it for the romance, the Scottish scenery, the humor, or the quirky cast, Some Like It Scot is a warm, witty, and winsome escape that will leave you grinning.

Thank you Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Fiction Audio | Thomas Nelson Fiction for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

Summary: A restless American travel writer finds an unexpected sense of belonging—and love—with a reclusive Scottish craftsman during a three-week Edwardian immersion in the Highlands.

My Review: Some Like It Scot is a sweet, slow-burn romance set against the charming backdrop of the Scottish Highlands. While I didn't feel a strong spark of chemistry between the main characters, the story still offered plenty of heartfelt moments and swoon-worthy lines that made me smile. This is a clean read—with no spice or profanity—making it a cozy and wholesome pick. The author also weaves in some heavier themes but balances them with light humor and clever puns, creating a story that's both tender and uplifting.

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this ARC audiobook for an honest review.

This book was just pure fun with a layer of deeper emotional heart mixed in. Katie is a travel writer who writes about her misadventures that seem to follow her wherever she goes. While she loves her life of seeing different places, her heart is secretly longing for a place she can call home. Graeme is the grumpy "hot Scott" who is trying to save his family homestead by temporarily renting the home to someone who is using it for "an Edwardian experience." The premise was original, great Scottish location, quirky characters, and adorable slow burn romance with a couple who totally deserved a happily ever after. Funny over the top moments with just the right amount of sweetness. I smiled so much throughout the book!

Great narration, too!

5 stars

I loved this! I'm usually a nonfiction reader but I'm a sucker for a love story in Scotland. This is definitely one for anyone who loves a good "American goes to Scotland not suspecting anything will happen and ends up finding the love of their life."

4.25 ⭐️- Cute, Sweet, and Smile Inducing

Pepper Basham did it yet again! And this might be my favorite book of hers yet! I enjoy her faith filled sweet romance books that are full of heart and character. ‘Some Like it Scot’ does an amazing job at capturing the beauty of the Scottish Countryside. Sign me up for a visit!

Katie Campbell is a heroine that towers at an above average six foot one. I’m going to admit that I knew I had to read this book after finding out that fact. I’m five foot ten and I never come across female leads that are tall. Let alone taller than me! Katie’s heart and wholesome personality won me over.

And the male hero of the story? Graeme MacKerrow? Total stud and a gentleman. A bit of a grump and totally clueless at what to make of Katie’s sunshine personality. It was fun watching the sparks fly between them.

I had the opportunity to read and listen to the audiobook of Some Like it Scot by Pepper Basham and what a joy it was because the narrators they chose really brought Ms. Basham's words to life though her words don't need any help. When you hear the voices of Joshua Manning and Stina Nielsen reading her words you will think the characters grew legs and walked off the pages and into your world. The only thing that would have made it better is if Mr. Manning would have read all the male parts and Ms. Nielsen would have read all the female parts. but I'm thankful for what we have.
It is so hard to say who my favorite character is because I like them all except for one or two of them, but there was one little boy and his trusty sidekick who stole my heart when they came walking onto the page. You just can't help but fall in love with this little boy who loves Irn Bru as much as I do. I have only had it once while I was in Scotland back in 1997, but it is a taste that you can't forget.
Thomas Nelson, NetGalley and Pepper Basham for giving me this opportunity to read and this listen to this wonderful book.
