As I am someone fascinated by certain points in history, I would be all over a real Edwardian Highland experience and thatโs just how Katie (love her name ๐) finds herself in Scotland. Is this adventure as amazing as she had hoped it would be? Letโs just say that all that glitters isnโt gold, including a sullen Scot named Graeme, but it did provide a lot of entertainment and I LOVED the narrators.
This slight enemies-to-love vibe is rolled with sugar and spice, creating the most delicious cinnamon roll hero to exist. I adored these characters and their personalities fascinated me.
There are so many opposites with this duoโone longs for home and familiarity while the other aches for exploration; one finds himself a parent to a precocious nephew while the other lives carefree; one is full of sunshine and light and the other is filled with reality and grumpiness. But this story that showcases all things Scotland allows for these characters to bond over a common thread of loss.
Witty connections full of banter and chemistry tie this sweet story together in such a lovely way. I read did thoroughly enjoy the narrators.
Content: mild religion; mild romance; mild moment of peril

Review: Some Like It Scot โ and Honestly? Same.
Normally, I donโt reach for Christian romance, but I couldnโt resist the temptation of an audiobook featuring a Scottish accent.
Ach, 'tis ma weakness, ye ken.
(Apologies tae the Scots, I ken itโs a wee bit off.)
That said, this was my first time listening to a book by Pepper Basham, and I can confidently sayโit wonโt be my last.
I was immediately charmed by the setup: enter Katie, an untypical travel writer sent on a very particular assignmentโa fully immersive Edwardian vacation, complete with all the upper-crust trappings of a bygone era.
But no one was prepared for Katie being, wellโฆ Katie.
Sheโs accident-prone, a magnet for misadventures, and absolutely not the dainty, delicate guest her hosts were expecting. Oh noโKatie is a statuesque, curvy goddess whose height could clear cobwebs Iโve accepted as permanent residents in my home. And yet, beneath her bold exterior and clever wit lies a woman carrying deep, unresolved family woundsโsomeone who just wants one simple, extraordinary thing: unconditional love.
Scotland becomes more than just a settingโit becomes a turning point. And Graeme, along with his incredible family, helps Katie realize something beautiful: that home isn't always a place. Sometimes, it's people. And sometimes, the greatest misadventures bring us the greatest gifts of all.
Iโm not the most religious person, but Iโm a firm believer that the Lord guides us where we need to goโnot always where we want to go.
Katieโs wanderlust may have seemed like a way to escape the broken pieces of her pastโthe grief, the family wounds that never quite had space to heal. But in the end, this one unexpected journey became the very path that led her homeโnot just to a place, but to healing, to connection, to herself.
The audiobook narration brought this story to life in such a rich and immersive way. The accents, the emotion, and the personality each narrator infused into the characters made this not just a book to listen toโbut one to feel.

This is such a sweet, cute read. I listened to the audio version and loved the voice actors, they kept me engaged the whole time (the accent was a lovely bonus). I enjoyed how this was a Christian romance with no spice. The plot was fun and the characters were enjoyable. There were moments that were a bit long and it felt like it dragged. Overall, a fun read that makes you want to visit Scotland!
Thank you to Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Fiction Audio and NetGalley for the advanced audiobook. All opinions are my own.

Katie Campbell is a travel writer and podcaster known to her fans as Miss Adventure. She loves to gather stories from the people and places she finds along the way. She also shares her own stories, or โmisadventuresโ, if you will. However, Katie is careful to not put down any roots, never staying long enough to become attached to one place.
Graeme MacKerrow, on the other hand, has grown deep roots. He is very protective of his Scottish homeland and his family. He rarely even leaves the island where he lives.
Katie literally falls into Graemeโs strong arms at his ancestral home, where she is on assignment, attending an immersive Edwardian experience. Katie continues to live up to her moniker, Miss Adventure, and Graeme seems to be working double time to keep her alive. But what happens when Katieโs assignment ends? Will she ever return to Scotland? Will she ever see Graeme again?
I enjoyed this audiobook. Iโm sure I would have struggled with pronunciations had I read a text copy. Hearing Graemeโs accent in Joshua Manningโs narration helped to bring the story to life. And Stina Nielsen represented Katie well.
This was a fun story with some pretty hilarious incidents. This Christian Romance novel is a sweet romantic comedy. While swoon-worthy, it is not spicy. However, I feel like religion was incorporated into the story as an afterthought. About 40% of the way through the story, all of a sudden the main characters were talking about God and church. It wasnโt very organic. I think spirituality could have been included more naturally.

Thank you to NetGalley for the free ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Last year I read Loyally, Luke and completely fell in love with @pepperbasham ! So when I saw Some Like it Scot on @netgalley I automatically placed a request!
This book is such a fun, heartwarming read! I absolutely adored Katieโs adventurous spirit (and her knack for getting into mishaps), and Graemeโs gruff but oh-so-sweet personality totally won me over! Their banter had me grinning, and the slow building relationship gave me all the warm fuzzies! But this story really had so much heart, touching on some difficult but very real topics! I loved the aspects of the story like loving yourself, finding your home, healing from loss, and learning to let people in.
And letโs talk about the setting! Pepperโs descriptions of Scotland were absolute perfection and made me want to book a trip ASAP!
With Graemeโs charming nephew and mother, a clumsy Highland Coo, a conniving frenemy, and the perfect cozy small-town feel, this is definitely a book Iโd recommend! Watch for its release on April 8th!
*I have to give credit to Pepper for the cute couple pictured in the bottom photo! She has so many fantastic teasers and images on her page! You totally need to go check them all out!
Huge thank you to Netgalley and @thomasnelson & Zondervan Fiction Audio for the opportunity to listen to the advanced audiobook! All opinions are my own.

Loved the narration. Both narrators did an amazing job bringing the characters to life. I loved hearing the different characters the female voice talent created. So good. It felt like a cast of characters, and not a singular narrator. Male voice talent brought an amazing reality with his beautiful Scottish accent. Well done! Loved pairing this with the e book!

Pepper Basham's Some Like it Scot is a true delight! There are heartfelt messages throughout the story, a true hurt/comfort romance for both of the main characters.
There's some lovely family drama which I thoroughly enjoyed. And Basham's descriptions of this remote region of Scotland are vivid and engaging.
The audio version of Some Like it Scot is beautifully performed by Joshua Manning and Stina Nielsen. Both narrators do a solid job with all the different accents, but I have to give an extra shout out to Manning whose "Katie" is just outstanding.

It's a cute setup but unfortunately I didn't feel any chemistry between the characters and didn't care much about them...
Graeme felt also less developed compared to Katie? Their inner conflicts were fine but didn't combine well with the romance in my opinion
I also overlooked that it's a Christian romance, which is on me! I didn't mind that it's a very clean romance but the random interjected references to their faith was throwing me off, but that's a personal criticism, I think other readers could enjoy that
I liked the accents in the audiobook tho, that was fine

Incredibly fun, heartwarming and full of so much joy.
Graeme and Katie were so easy to love. Katie was hilarious and so relatable . Graeme had so many layers and it was a joy to read his perspective throughout the book. The secondary characters added so much to the story. They warmed my heart in many ways and I felt like I was in Mull having a cup of tea with them. The ending is so much better than I had hoped! It was realistic and I truly didn't want this to end.
The audiobook was fantastic. It is dual narration by Joshua Manning and Stina Nielsen. The accents were spot on and they both did a great job bringing the story to life.
I laughed, I cried and I enjoyed every second of this adorable story.

Happy Sigh!!!! Y'all, this book!!! Soooo good! I know I should think of better descriptive words than "soooo good," but it's very true! I just adored this book so much! Oops, there I go again with the "so's." Sorry, not sorry. I loved this one so much that this is my second read/listen through. Yes, I read it first and then I was given an early audiobook copy and loved being pulled back into this sweet world of Katie Campbell's! She made me smile and cry and laugh! I just adored her character so much. She brought a light with her everywhere she went and helped to lighten the loads of those around her. Especially a really grump Scot. Hahaha! But it just goes to show that she shines brightly that this surly Scot couldn't help but notice and be affected.
Oh my heart!!! I loved every scene with Katie and Graeme in it. And every moment that they are thinking of each other, especially when trying NOT to think of the other.
You'll love the spark and chemistry and tension between these two. As well as the friendship that develops and then continues to grow into a sweet love story. Awwww! These two just compliment each other perfectly. They bring balance to each other. And fill the needs of each other's hearts and souls. Perfection!
The narrators of the audiobooks brought the story to life so beautifully! Their inflections and the emotions that they added made it that much more enjoyable! If you can't tell, I'm hooked and a big fan of this book!
Pick it up and be transported to the beautiful hills and crags of Scotland! You won't want to leave!
Content: Clean. Some sweet kisses but nothing further.
I received a copy from the publisher, Thomas Nelson Fiction, via JustReads, and the audiobook from the producer, Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Fiction Audio, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
Happy Reading!!!

I absolutely enjoyed Katie and her #hotscot! I will be adding this to my shell, most definitely. The love story was by far well written. The narrator is one of my favorites and I think she did an amazing job! Thank you for the chance to review.

This is my second time reading this book- this time I listened to the audio. It's just as wonderful the second time through- with tears.

Katie, an accident-prone American travel writer, heads to Scotland for a three-week โEdwardian experienceโ and meets a grumpy yet handsome Scot named Graeme in a hilariously awkward encounter. This adorable book blends sweet romance with deeper themes of home and grief, making it a delightful read.
The supporting characters on the island add charm, and Iโm really hoping for more stories about Graemeโs family! If you're after a clean romance filled with witty banter, stunning scenery, funny moments, and a satisfying ending, this is the book for you. Plus, I found myself wanting a Highland Cow by the end!
The male narratorโs accent truly enhanced the experience, and I loved exploring the Scottish countryside while getting to know the rich backstories of the main characters. Highly recommended!

Thank you so much to Netgalley and the publisher for the galley and audio galley. The opinions below are my own.
I had such a slow start to this book, and at first I thought I wasnโt going to enjoy it, but it really turned around about 1/4 of the way through.
Both narrators were phenomenal. I loved the Scottish pronunciation, the different voices they used, and the intonation for emotion. Iโll be looking for other books by these narrators in the future!!
I love that the faith aspect of this book felt natural. The charactersโ faith was importantly referenced, but I didnโt feel like it was banging me over the head.
I really enjoyed the cast. The main characters was funny and the levity of her life was so good, but she had struggles and it made her relatable.
The MMC was a great book boyfriend, but
*** spoilers***
he gave his ex way too much credit. ๐
itโs good he can own a part in it, but his ex was selfish in a time of very intense grief, which I wanted to yell at her while he was giving her grace. ๐
Anyway, the end had me tearing up and was great. I recommend for anyone who loves romcoms and sweet stories with Christian faith in the background.

What an absolute delight of a book. It was truly refreshing to see a FMC who wasnโt a tiny blonde perfect woman. Katie was a flawed, tall, redheaded relatable character. The relationship she held with her family, with the grief of losing a sibling and how lost she seemed even though she had a successful career was understandable and something many readers may find themselves going through or have gone through in the past. Graham also had many similar traits that were relatable. Their love story was very cute and I liked how both characters came to care for each other despite their initial crazy meeting. Their attraction to each other was well established. I truly loved the Scottish setting and all the small details that were included. Not only did I laugh, but I had all the giddy feels and even teared up a few times. This was a touching portrayal of not just falling in love but finding your place in the world!
The narrators were excellent and Iโm not sure if the male narrator is truly Scottish but I would ๐ฏ believe it if not!
Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for an ALC in exchange for my honest opinion!

Thank you NetGalley for Some Like It Scot as an Audiobook ARC.
I listened to the audiobook of Some Like It Scot, and unfortunately, it didnโt live up to my expectations. Based on the title, I expected a much deeper and more passionate romance, but instead, the story leaned into religious themes, which wasnโt what I signed up for. The frequent mentions of prayer and faith felt excessive, especially since the book wasnโt marketed as this type of read.
Another major issue for me was the main character, Katie. She lacked personality and depth, making it hard to connect with her or care about her journey. The plot itself was bland, and I kept waiting for something more engaging to happen, but it never did.
The one bright spot was the audiobook narration. The voice actors did a fantastic job, and I especially enjoyed his Scottish accent, which made the setting feel immersive. The descriptions of Scotlandโs landscape were also beautifully done, but unfortunately, the story itself just didnโt work for me.
If I had been reading a physical copy, this likely would have been my first DNF. Iโm glad I listened to the audiobook because at least the narration kept me somewhat entertained, but overall, this book was a disappointment.

Whenever accents are involved, reach for the audiobook. This is no exception! I loved being able to hear Graemeโs voice in his true Scottish brogue, it certainly helps me feel immersed in the โbonnie isle.โ The authors landscape descriptions made me want to go back and visit. I do take issue with describing Irn-Bru as bubble-gum flavor, though. She forgot the hint of toothpaste and orange soda/pop!
This one is a slow-burn (lite) closed-door romance where you donโt even see them hold hands until the second half! The story follows a clumsy travel journalist who ends up on a 3-week assignment in Scotland. We follow her โmisadventuresโ and see a picture into her life and how she came to embrace her clumsiness. There were aspects of this story I could relate to a bit too much thanks to my ADHD.
Overall, it was a sweet rom com, with reflections on self-esteem, grief, loss, and moving into the next stage of adulthood. Christian themes start showing up later on in the book, so donโt be surprised by that if youโre not expecting it. Itโs not Bible-thumping by any means. If youโre looking for spice, you wonโt find it here but you will find two characters who find a home in one another โบ๏ธ

Katie and Graeme's story was so much fun to listen to. When I think of a big burly hunk Graeme is exactly who I am thinking of. The natural protectiveness he has over Katie was so swoon worthy and I loved reading about it. It made me so giddy with happiness that she found someone to love her and stand by her side in all her "mid-adventures".

First, a big thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for the advance listening copy of Some Like It Scot! The premise had me instantly hooked, hence why I wanted so badly to read it โ travel writer meets surly Scotsman in a Downton-inspired Edwardian experience? Yes, please ๐ฅฐ.
That said, Iโm really sensitive when it comes to audiobook narration, especially with accents, and I unfortunately found the narration style a bit distracting. It took me out of the story, and as someone who listens regularly, it just didnโt work for me this time.
Because Iโm still so intrigued by the story, the setting, and the characters, Iโll absolutely be picking up the paperback once itโs released. I canโt wait to revisit it that way โ this feels like a cozy read that deserves my full attention in print ๐โจ.
Thank you again for the opportunity!

โ Popular travel writer and podcaster Katie Campbell roams the world collecting other peopleโs stories. Sheโs built a career as โMiss Adventure,โ known for saying yes to anything newโcountry, food, or experienceโand predictably finding those adventures taking a downward turn into misadventures.โ
I really just loved this book. I couldnโt stop listening. The narrators were wonderful especially the male with the Scottish accent. The characters stories had me laughing and crying at times, written beautifully. And as someone who has been to Scotland after reading this book I long very much to go back. The author made you long for it and did capture the at home feeling you have when you are there. And also being a Campbell myself I loved the whole โo watch out if you are a Campbell around hereโ mood, so very true in some places lol. Highly recommend this one.
