I love a good holiday read but I was a bit disappointed with this one. It just didn't hit the mark, was a bit confusing and didn't flow well. I didn't connect with the characters and I think that is because I never really got to know them. Not one of the best books I have read recently. Sorry!

Thank you NetGalley and Troubador for giving me the opportunity to read adn review this book.

So, I've been trying to read this and it never quite connected with me. I had really hoped, as the first reviewer here on Goodreads, that I would be able to say great things as the premise had been interesting. But... I started off not knowing a lot about the main character or his world - or the "new" one that he was coming to ostensibly vacation in - and found I just couldn't connect with anyone in the story. I think I got maybe 15-20% in and just didn't care. This may be a me thing. It may be I didn't give it enough of a chance to catch me, but I'm afraid I eventually flipped to the end and moved on to something else.

A Holiday in Winter is a tense, atmospheric tale that takes a seemingly ordinary holiday and turns it into a thrilling journey of mystery and self-discovery. As Freddy faces extreme weather, unwelcoming locals, and his own hidden motives, the story weaves action and suspense with deeper emotional stakes. A compelling read that blends adventure and introspection, keeping readers hooked until the very end.

i was confused by alot of things in this book. i didnt understand the direction and it seemed at times even the plot got confused with itself. the characters didnt warm me to them.
im sorry i dont even feel able to review it properly because i dont feel there is enough to review.
this sounds really scathing, and im sorry for that.
