3.5 Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This was a quick entertaining murder mystery set in an Irish castle during a wedding weekend. Lots of twists along the way.

A Killer Wedding is a stunning and well written debut novel! Christine is an ambitious senior editor at Bespoke Weddings magazine, thrilled to be selected to attend and cover the lavish over the top wedding in the billionaire Ripton family. It’s being held in a castle in Ireland, complete with hidden passageways and magnificent grounds. The catch is the Ripton family is a scandalous, vicious and backstabbing bunch. The first morning Gloria, matriarch and owner of the Glo company, is found dead. No one wants to call the police, to ensure the wedding is not canceled and the family does not receive more bad press. Christine is conflicted about the decision yet is swept into the cover-up. There are many lively characters in this book and everyone is a suspect. Written in several POVs and timelines, this is a fast paced, clever and entertaining murder mystery which you won’t want to put down. With thanks to Netgalley and William Morrow for this ARC. My opinions are my own.

Well written, witty, and fun but some serious believability issues. The cast of characters was intriguing and the story was plotted well.

This was such an enjoyable debut novel. Rich people trying to impress each other, an over-the-top wedding, backstabbing and of course murder. It's both ridiculous, funny and suspenseful.

This novel is a glamorous whodunit novel and it was a fantastic debut! If you like a murder mystery, with cocktails on the side, this is for you. It is glamorous, charming, funny and full of family secrets. I laughed a lot while reading this! I felt like it was a bougie slasher, filled with humor and wit. This book is full of adventure and unputdownable. It is plot driven and character driven. This story includes a diverse cast of characters. It has multiple points of views, that contain flashbacks and different perspectives. I really wanted the characters to have more depth to them, so I could get to know and understand them better. I would say that the cast of characters were unlikable, except for the main character Christine. I really liked the plot and found it to be well executed!
“A Killer Wedding” is about a woman named Gloria who gets murdered. Gloria so happens to be the founder of the Glo empire! She is a BIG deal! She was found dead in her suite. Christine and others decide not to call the cops, but wait until after the wedding. This is where the multiple point of views begin to happen and they all start having flashbacks. Dark family secrets arise. This book kept me guessing who the killer was until the very last page! Overall, I give this book a 3.5 out of 5 stars rating!
Content warnings include death, murder, grief, alcoholism and emotional manipulation. I think fans of fancy whodunit’s, including a lot of family drama and dark humor, would really enjoy this book!
Thank you to NetGalley, author Joan O'Leary and William Morrow for this digital arc in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
This book is expected to be published on September 23, 2025!

What more could a wedding weekend ask for than a murder!! Rich people and their their secrets make for an engaging who done it. A whole family of suspects makes for an interesting read. Well done for a debut.

A good old fashion whodunit - oh my! Mysteries aren’t my go to genre but I’m so glad I picked this one. It’s well written, has entertaining characters and it was a lot of fun to read.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me an early release in exchange for a fair and honest review.

A super wealthy family hosting a lavish wedding with secrets all around? A perfect set up for a thriller! I can't believe that this is a debut novel because a somewhat complicated plot was handled with such mastery. The twists fit well, the turns made sense, and I was invested until the final page. Obviously I was reading the digital ARC but I am hoping the physical book could include a family tree at the beginning. There are lots of characters and it's slightly tricky to keep their connections straight. It's nothing that would hold a reader back but it's a wish of mine. This is a great secluded location mystery and it's so much fun to read! I hope this book gets lots of buzz, it deserves it. Thanks to Joan O'Leary, William Morrow, and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

A society wedding is the backdrop for a twisted tale of backstabbing, murder/suicide, mockery of the idle rich and their ridiculous need to out do each other.

This book is fantastic, I loved every word! The characters were fun, funny, and devious (some of them were all three!). The plots twists were entertaining and unexpected. Highly recommend and I do hope Ms. O'Leary writes many more books.

Without getting too far into this, there was little to no generational gap between characters of different ages. This made it incredibly difficult to keep track of who was related to whom and how. Also, and this is petty but it really interrupted my experience: The specific things mentioned as top tier luxury and overwhelming opulence were mostly eliteish department store finds.

I absolutely adored this book! It was so well written and thought out. A really original story set around a wedding weekend of part of a billionaire family. It focuses on a family that is mostly unlikable, yet, you can’t help wanting to know more about them. You get to know more with many flashbacks told in their voices. The rest of the book is narrated by Christine, the Senior editor sent to cover the wedding for a famous magazine. She is much more likable and you really root her on. She’s a go getter and you want her to get everything she deserves. (In the best way possible) the end of this book is killer! (Not sorry) And you never see it coming. Don’t wait, read this now!!,

An ultra-lavish wedding at a castle in Ireland, a billionaire family of a beauty products company…what could go wrong? Christine, our main character, is an ambitious woman, who was invited to write a spread for the high end Bespoke magazine. As she spends time with the family, we learn much about the family, not all of it good. Good story and I look forward to reading more from Joan O’Leary.

A decently enough plotted murder mystery with a few good twists at the end but it barely kept my interest. Skimmed my way through a lot of it. There wasn’t really anyone actively investigating the murder—the main character was primarily just waiting for things to happen and come to light . A lot of flashbacks slowed down the pace. None of the characters was particularly likable so I was not emotionally invested. The flirtation/romance between Christine and Danny was not well developed at all, disappointingly.

An idyllic landscape, brooding tension, and an old fashioned whodunnit? A Killer Wedding does it all and more! A truly exciting tale that drew me in like an Agatha Christie novel.
When wedding editor, Christine, gets selected as the lead (and only) editor invited to an upper echelon wedding in beautiful Ireland, she couldn't say no. As the events unfold and she finally stops pinching herself, she realizes that sometimes what you wish for isn't what it's all cracked up to be. The famous Ripton family might seem untouchable, but a grisly death soon shows that the closer you get to the top, the more skeletons you keep hidden away. And the matriarch of the Ripton family had the most skeletons of them all! As characters unfold and dynamics become clear, you're left wondering who did it? A great addition to any TBR!
O'Leary's book is sure to keep you entertained and ready to solve a murder.

A business magnate dies at an over the top destination wedding, and reporter Christine ends up in the thick of things. A good mystery with lots of suspects but not as over the top ax it could have been. An enjoyable read.

Anything involving rich people, a castle, and a mystery - I'm in. The pop culture references cracked me up.

When Christine, a junior editor at a high society magazine, is given the assignment of her lifetime she thinks this will catapult her career exactly where she wants to be. When she flies to Scotland for the high society of the year, however, she has very little time to enjoy the luxury of the castle they're staying in or all the perks of being a part of this very lavish wedding. What starts with a murder quickly snowballs into the weekend from hell and it's not just Christine's job on the line anymore.

I adore rich people behaving badly, and this book had it in spades. Amateur sleuths? ✅ Castle in Ireland? ✅ Hidden passageways? ✅ People who aren’t who they say they are? ✅ Even the family, who are all terrible people, had some fun redeeming qualities. This was a fun romp on a rainy afternoon.

Fun and twisty thriller that kept me on my toes thought out the whole book! Told through multiple POV’s Christina is sent to cover an exclusive celebrity wedding set in an Irish castle but little does she know this assignment is more than she planned for. This story is filled with lots of twists and turns as the storyline plays out and you are kept guess on that is really happening until the very last chapter! Great summer thriller to binge at the beach!
