A propulsive mystery/thriller filled with action and adventure. Although the plot is a bit over the top, it’s fun and kept me reading.

Thank you for this ARC. I enjoy JT Ellison's writing and this one did not disappoint. Halley has a number of big changes in her personal life, but all that is put on the back burner when she learns her father needs surgery and has kept a big secret from her. This big secret leads Halley into trouble, but thankfully her soon-to-be ex husband and long lost sister rescue her.
Without giving away too much of the plot and characters, let me just say this: there are plenty of surprises to keep you up late. She did a fabulous job creating the characters and the suspense.

thank you, Netgalley, for the opportunity to read this eARC.
When Halley is only 6 years old, her mum and step sister die in a tragic car accident that she somehow survives, but which leaves her with horrific migraines and no memories of that night. Or so she was told. When Halley's dad is injured, and she returns home to care for him, she finds out pieces of the truth and is determined to find out what actually happened, and why she can't remember any of it.
This was a brilliant, fast-paced, physiological thriller. It will leave you suspicious of every character and trying to connect the dots between truth and lie. I find it fascinating that your brain can block out such a haunting event that surely shaped your life in such a negative way. To find out it's all a lie must be so disorientating. Halley is clearly on a downward spiral, but she really does make some not so smart decisions for her safety. I really enjoyed this book and will be looking for more from this author.

This was an interesting psychological thriller. Halley has lived through the death of her mother and sister when she was only six years old. She was told they died in a car accident but as she returns home to care for her father she discovers he has lied to her for all the intervening years. With her marriage unravelling and the loss of a dream job this is another thing for Halley to confront. As she searches for her sister, who is apparently still alive, she puts herself and everyone else in danger. The suspense and questions increase throughout the book. The plot is fast paced and it is compelling to find out all the mysteries surrounding Halley’s sister and her own life.

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC of Last Seen by J.T. Ellison.
I hope you are ready for a rabbit hole that runs deep, this is a twisty, turny, adventure of a thriller.
Halley (named for the comet) has just learned something new and devastating about what ultimately took her sister and mother away from her. Despite avid warnings from her dad, she has to know what actually happened. Her digging takes her to Brockville TN, a town so kind and lovely that it doesn't seem to want to let her leave.
This has delicious culty vibes to it, and there will be some parts where you won't know your ups from downs. A little slow in some parts, otherwise a solidly fun thriller.

Holy cow! This thriller was one of the best books I’ve read this year. I was hooked from page one and devoured it so fast. The pacing was perfect, the suspense kept me on the edge of my seat, and there were so many twists and turns I never saw coming. I couldn’t put it down, and every time I thought I had it figured out… nope!
This was my first book by this author, and I’m so glad I picked it up. Now I have to check out their other books—my TBR just grew, and I’m not even sorry.

This is such a good book!!! It is a perfect thriller with so many twists and turns. You never really know where the book is going. I think it was full of emotion and great writing! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review!

Thank you NetGalley for the eARC of “Last Seen” by J.T. Ellison. “Last Seen” was a great read with a strong character (Halley) trying to find herself amongst all things and while doing so, she stumbles upon more than she can manage. The novel was well written and I was able to read it at a fast pace, to the point where I couldn’t put it down because I needed to know the outcome. I did feel like there were parts of the storyline that either shouldn’t have been there or possibly replaced with a different scenario. I wish Halley had more time in the novel with her sister, than was allotted, since the novel solely focuses on finding her sister. It would have been nice to learn more about them and seen a more thorough interaction between the two. Thanks Thomas & Mercer and NetGalley for the opportunity to read “Last Seen”.

JT Ellison is one of those writers who is guaranteed to deliver you a memorable story, and this latest offering is no exception. When her troubled marriage, a career crisis, and an accident involving her father combine to bring Halley back to the town where she grew up, she has no idea that her life is about to change beyond recognition.
Because it turns out that Halley's beloved father did not tell her the truth about the accident that killed her mother and her older half sister. Because there was no accident. It was her older sister who murdered her mother. And Halley's determination to finally discover the truth behind her mother's death and her sister's subsequent disappearance, is about to open a Pandora's box that she did not even know existed...
This is a terrific thriller, offering an unusual setting, a deep rooted conspiracy, and twists aplenty. Give it a try - it will not disappoint you.

This author has done it again
Halley has her entire life believed her mother passed away in a car crash. Imagine her shock to learn her father has lied to her all these years d her.mother was murdered. Follow Halleys life as she tries to unravel the truth and learn what really happened to her mother
Definitely a story that will keep you up late

This was a very good book. There were so many twists and turns. Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen, I was wrong.

Thank you to my partners, Over the River PR, NetGalley, and Thomas & Mercer, and the author. I appreciate the gifted paperback ARC and eARC! I am leaving this review voluntarily!
1. 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧 • Oh, do I love when an author comes right out of the gates with a storyline that makes me actually cheer for the villian before I know what’s happening! Not that I didn’t despise her on the other side of the coin, but man, cheered for her hard core on one!
2. 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐫 • I was fairly certain that I had it figured out about 1/3 of the way through…but that did not deter me! I needed to know how it was all going to play out! And I’m thankful I kept going! Because I did NOT know what was going on! Wow! Blew my mind!
3. 𝐏𝐬𝐲𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫 • At its best, right here. It has all of the ingredients to satisfy every tastebud that screams for this genre. I was on the edge of my seat, feeling terrified, trying to keep my heart from breaking apart…needless to say, I felt like I had run a marathon by the end.
4. 𝐈𝐝𝐲𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 • Doesn’t it always seem like that which seems to be perfect always has a dark and horrifying underside. Well, maybe not that extreme every time… I think every reader will know from the get-go that there is something wrong with Brockville. It’s just the uncovering of the horrors that keep the pages flying.
5. 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 • No matter the type of person one is, family always seems to win out in the end. We see many sides of this in our story. The love that has us reaching to the ends of the earth to keep them safe is evident in many aspects. While some are unsavory and unthinkable, I think there is still that underlying similarity between the good ones and the evil ones.

This was a great book. I loved every paragraph, every sentence and every word of this masterpiece! I read it in 12 hours, which is a lot for me to do! It had everything and more laid out in the novel! I sure hope There is more to come from this author! I am totally hooked!

3.5 - 4 stars
Wow is about the only word I have after finishing this book. In a good and bad way.
First that prologue, what a chilling start to what was a crazy ride. The tension starts in the first few chapters and doesn’t let up. However even though the suspense was great there were parts that felt a bit slow.
While I enjoyed the multiple POV (including a creepy mystery POV), I didn’t enjoy the back and forth on first and third person. Speaking of creepy mystery POV, this story leads to a villain and story that will haunt my dreams for a bit. It fit for the story but just be warned this is on the darker side of thriller.
Despite most pieces seeming to come together I do feel there are a few unanswered questions and unresolved issues that didn’t make me the biggest fan of the ending.
This was my first by the author and there are some great thriller bones here so I’ll definitely be reading more.

Thank you Thomas and Mercer, Netgalley and OTR PR for my eARC in exchange for an honest review!

I am a fan of J.T Ellison but Last Seen just kind of missed the mark for me. It took quite awhile to get into it. It moved fairly slow for the first portion of the book. It definitely picked up but it was just a bit too out there for me. I like the premise but just couldn't get into the story.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the review copy in exchange for my honest opinions.

Once again, JT wrote a knockout suspenseful thriller! I've been a HUGE FAN ever since I discovered her books in 2016 and read All The Pretty Girls featuring LT Taylor Jackson. She writes stories that always leave you feeling the hair on the back of your neck stand up as well as the sense someone is watching over your shoulder. Last Seen features Halley James on the hunt to find out the truth about what really happened to her mother and half sister Catriona. I always feel as if I'm watching an episode of SVU. The characters are written so well and the dialogue is always top notch. Even though this was just published, I cannot WAIT to see what JT Ellison has in store for us next.

I have read several J.T. Ellison books and thoroughly enjoy them , but this one missed the mark for me.
Halley discovers that her mother didn’t really die in a car accident after having believed that her whole life – she was murdered. As she starts to dig into details about her mother’s death, Halley is surprised at what she finds. As soon as she starts investigating, people start dying and odd things start happening.
I honestly thought this one was a little out there in some parts and I found the whole book kind of boring. It wasn’t until the last probably 25% that the book picked up for me. I also thought it was entirely too long. Nothing had me flipping pages as fast as I could (except to get finished). The twists were lackluster. The characters lacked depth. Overall, I just wasn’t impressed.
Thank you Net Galley and publisher for and eARC of this book!

Normally I love a good JT Ellison book, but this one came off as far too unrealistic in the end, to me. I know that it's fiction and therefore doesn't need to be realistic, but this was a step too far for me. I will not say what struck me about this as it would give away too much. Basic premise is a sister looking for a long lost other sister and finds a little, private town.

Last Seen- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ thank you @netgalley and @amazonpublishing for the gifted copy! This one follows Halley whose life is falling apart and she learns that her mother was killed by her sister. She goes on the run in search of her step sister to get some answers. This one started a bit slow but the action was GREAT. It was really intense and wild and action packed. I really thought this story was just SO wild and fun. The ending went a little off the rails for me, but I did enjoy it!

QOTD- what are you reading this weekend ?! I’m working on the Ashes and the Star Cursed King, the second book in crowns of Nyaxia series! I’m also listening to Nora Goes off Script!

I enjoyed this but the ending just didn’t wow me like I had hoped that it would. I felt like there was a lot of buildup and my expectations weren’t met.
