Impressive writing demonstrated in this thriller. The time frames go back and forth but unlike most books, it was seamless and easy to follow. As many times as you think that you have this one figured out, you have no idea. With lots of twists and turns, it has a shocking ending reveal, and THEN another shocking reveal. Very enjoyable thriller.

Wow! If you’re looking for a twisty, suspenseful, psychological mystery, this is it! Jessica Patch pulls out all the stops in this identical twin switching places thriller. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time & loved the unpredictable turns.
Struggling artist Charlotte Kane grew up in the foster care system. When she finds out her birth mother is dead, she discovers she has a twin sister she never knew about. As she researches her successful twin’s life, she makes a life changing decision when she contacts her.
Acelynn Benedict is a successful influencer who has the perfect life. She was adopted into a doting, wealthy Savannah, Georgia family & claims a handsome boyfriend, & rewarding career. When she learns of her twin sister, she drops everything to fly to Chicago to meet her. But, when tragedy strikes, Charlotte assumes Acelynn’s life & finds that underneath that perfect facade are dark secrets, untrustworthy friends, & a serial killer on the loose.
This book was intense! The narrative flips back & forth from the past to the present & there are so many hidden clues that once pieced together lead to a stunning conclusion. Told mainly from Charlotte’s POV, it’s hard to know what’s fact from fiction. She at times appears to be an unreliable narrator & finds herself in a web of lies with the constant threat of exposure as she pretends to be her sister. There’s a hint of romance that adds another twist to the story.
The mystery kept me quickly turning the pages as more & more pieces of the puzzle are revealed. The serial killer aspect added another layer to an already climactic story. The ending left me completely reeling! There’s also a light faith thread woven throughout the story.
The audiobook version was well done. I enjoyed the narrator & how she distinguished each of the characters. She injected just the right amount of emotion.
Highly recommend to psychological thriller fans. While there are no on page, detailed descriptions, the subject matter & mentions of affairs would rate this a PG-13 for me. I received an advanced listeners copy from the publisher with no expectation of a review. All opinions are completely my own & provided voluntarily.

I knew this would be a wild ride when I read the premise of a twin assuming her sister's life...with all the expected complications, twists and turns that might ensue. The Other Sister definitely did not disappoint. At times there was a lot going on to keep up with but Patch did a masterful job with interesting dialogue among her many characters. At times I was definitely like, wait...what just happened here?! Some things were far-fetched but this was a fun thriller and very original. I read a lot in this genre and if you're a fan too, this should go on your TBR list.
Romy Evans was a skillful narrator, handling all the different types of characters and voice acting very well.
Thanks to NetGalley and Love Inspired Trade for this ARL. All opinions are mine.

thank you netgalley for the free arc audiobook of the other sister. this was such a captivating read i made it through in one day. only a bit predictable but they kept you guessing.

If you like psychological thrillers with plenty of hope and light infused throughout, you will no doubt enjoy The Other Sister by Jessica R. Patch. Twins Charlotte and Acelynn grew up in very different worlds but as their story unravels, the similarities start to stack up. You can’t help but explore the idea of nature versus nurture and the power of faith and positive influences in one’s life. There are many twists and turns and then layers to those twists and turns! By the last quarter of the story the pace picks up intensely and there is pausing or putting it down. No one is really who they seem to be and the subtle storyteller in the background adds an extra dimension of disturbed. My brain was in overtime trying to figure out how all the pieces connected and once the dots are finally connected my mind was quite blown. I loved the thread of family of the heart and choice and the redemptive possibilities of second chances. Not quite sure where the epilogue leaves us…well played Jessica! I had the added benefit of listening to the audiobook narrated by Romy Evans who truly did a great job of capturing the accents, the personalities and the overall vibe of each part of the story.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley and all opinions expressed are solely my own, freely given.

This book deserves all the stars! Hands down, this is one of the best books I have read in a very long time. The Other Sister is the newest psychological thriller by Jessica Patch. She is in a league of her own when it comes to writing dark thrillers that shows readers the depravity of the world we live in. However, unlike most mainstream thriller writers, Jessica shows readers the darkness in order to show them the only hope we have is in the light of a faith found in Jesus. Some readers might want a more obvious faith element in this story, but I think it was appropriate the way she wrote it in order to have a more organic story.
Jessica Patch can write twists and turns that rival authors such as Mary Kubica, Riley Sager, Megan Miranda, etc. What I love is that she can write these stories that can keep readers on the edge of their seats and guessing until the end, but unlike a lot of mainstream authors she does it without the unnecessary language and open door content. I can’t wait for her next one!
I thought the narrator of this audiobook did a fantastic job. No complaints from me. Pace was appropriate and easy to understand.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for a copy of this book. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

A twisty tale that keeps the surprises coming! A thriller suspense not to be missed!
I received an audio ARC through Netgalley and all opinions are my own.

Things I loved:
A creepy journal from a mother convinced her daughter is evil—yes, please
So many twists (I guessed one... the rest? Absolutely not.)
The audiobook narrator absolutely delivered, especially that Southern accent
The Other Sister had me from page one. Charlotte finds out she has a twin and slides into her life... only to discover it's full of secrets, lies, and very shady people. The story alternates between Charlotte’s POV and journal entries from a mystery mom who thinks her child is a monster, and those journal chapters? Easily some of my favorite parts—super eerie and such a clever way to add layers.
There’s a big cast of characters, which got a little confusing at times, but the pacing was solid and the mystery kept me engaged the whole way through. You’re constantly guessing who you can trust (spoiler: no one), and every new discovery makes things messier—in the best way.
My only real gripe? Christian fiction??? Where? A character wearing a cross necklace does not a Christian thriller make. With how dark this gets, I would have never in a BILLION years thought it was Christian, and i didn't notice it until I logged it on GoodReads, is this an error? Still, it was a fun, twisty read—and I’ll definitely be picking up more from Jessica R. Patch.

This book is fantastically written and the audio narration is superb. It's very, very dark, though. there are vague faith references and possibly a faith growth- that said, it's so dark, I'm not sure how I feel about it being classified as Christian fiction. Incest, sexual assault, sexual perversion, sleeping around, affairs, alcoholism, drug abuse, murders, psychological abuse. Dark. I received a free copy of The Other Sister from Netgalley and Harlequin Audio in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

Once I started this I could not stop. It is so good. Every few moments there is a twist or a suspenseful moment. And the narration was one of the best I have ever listened to. The pacing was phenomenal and the accents! ARRR! i am in love. I just loved the entire experience of listening to this one.

If you enjoy a captivating story that’ll leave you spellbound with its unexpected turns, this is definitely a read for you. The author masterfully weaves a tapestry of intrigue with each twist and turn, keeping you on the edge of your seat. It’s an absolute page-turner, thanks to the constant stream of new revelations.
The story revolves around the contrast between two twins, raised in vastly different worlds. One, born into wealth and power, dreams of a life beyond their privileged existence. The other, yearning for the same, grows up in a world of poverty and dreams of a life of luxury.
A pivotal moment in their lives changes everything, transforming them from having nothing to having everything—but at the cost of concealing their true identities and assuming the roles of their counterparts.
This book was an absolute delight to listen to. The narrator did a wonderful job job giving depth to the characters

Someday, a future generation will look back at our current suspense/thriller novels and think, “Wow, women were truly horrible back then.”
The female characters in THE OTHER SISTER are all unlikable, some to the extreme. You’ll love to hate them. The female MC grew on me a little as things unfolded. I actually managed to find a bit of compassion for her, which says a lot since I don’t normally do well with unlikable characters.
The story is wrapped up in some pretty wild drama, and you have to be willing to suspend a bit of disbelief. The craziness unfolds slowly, spiralling into an explosive ending.
I listened to the audiobook, which is narrated by Romy Evans. She did a fantastic job of inhabiting the characters’ personalities, making me feel like I was a fly on the wall watching and listening in real time.

Acelynn Benedict is polished, successful and seems to have everything Charlotte yearns for—a wealthy, doting family in Savannah, a handsome boyfriend, a great career. She’s just as surprised as Charlotte to learn she has a sister. But when tragedy hits and Charlotte is forced to assume Acelynn’s identity in a desperate moment, she uncovers something altogether darker…
“Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive!” This quote came to mind on more than one occasion as I was reading this book.
This story just keeps twisting around itself and, as a reader, you start second guessing your first thoughts. I mean…you have identical twins separated at birth! I love it when a book makes me question my sanity and this one definitely does.
At first, I did not really like Acelynn. I thought she was going to be a bit whiny….but oh no! Then there is Charlotte. You know something is up with her, you just can’t quite put your finger on it. But those are not the only characters you have to worry about. You must read this to find out!
The narrator, Romy Evans, had great intensity. She really nailed these characters!
Need a twisted tale which will have you guessing…THIS IS IT! Grab your copy today!
I received this novel from the publisher for a honest review.

If you’re into dark family secrets and jaw-dropping twists, The Other Sister is a must-read. This book is packed with mystery and suspense that keeps you flipping pages late into the night.
• The mystery is super well done—just the right amount of creepy and intriguing
• The plot has so many layers, and every time you think you’ve figured it out, something changes
• Tons of twists that totally catch you off guard
• The characters are really well-developed—you get drawn into their emotions and relationships, especially the sisters
• And the ending? Total surprise. It hits hard and stays with you
Jessica R. Patch nailed it with this one. It’s one of those books you’ll want to talk about as soon as you finish.
thank you to #NetGalley for this #arc read

The Other Sister opens with a tight, menacing setup: upon the death of her mother, Charlotte discovers that she has a twin sister who was adopted by another family shortly after birth. She quickly becomes obsessed with Acelynn and decides to reach out to this long-lost sister. When the two meet, tragedy soon strikes, and Charlotte assumes Acelynn's identity in order to protect herself. Charlotte finds that Acelynn was not all she seemed, however, under the veneer of her wealthy and successful life. Will Charlotte be able to keep up appearances, or will Acelynn's former life bring her crumbling down?
While I found the book intriguing and initially promising, the fast and furious plot twists towards the end took away from its dark impact and made the plot a bit more difficult to follow. The clear standout character was Petal — a child with a genuinely dark and dangerous core that gives the book its sharpest edge. It’s obvious early on that Petal is a younger version of one of the adult characters, yet because the reveal must stay hidden, her adult counterpart never quite carries the same haunting characterization, which blunted the impact overall. I wanted to be able to look back and say "oh of COURSE that was Petal, it's all so obvious now that I see it" but that gotcha tie-in just didn't seem to be there. Still, the book is entertaining with enough surprises to keep you turning the page. Romy Evans did a great performance on the audiobook narration, with seamless audiobook production by Harlequin Audio.
Thank you to NetGalley, Harlequin Audio, and Jessica R. Patch for an advance listening copy for honest review. 3.75 stars rounded up.

Oooph. This book was so good. I couldn't turn it off. Just drove around my town for hours. Just wanting to know how things ended up. Five stars for sure.

"The Other Sister" by Jessica R Patch is a modern twist on "The Prince and the Pauper", a story that has been retold thousands of times, yet this book manages to do it well by adding layer upon layer of mystery and intrigue. This particular version is perhaps most similar to the 2011 TV series Ringer starring Michelle Gellar as a drug addict who witnesses a murder and finds opportunity to go into hiding when her estranged sister commits suicide, allowing her to assume her sister's life of wealth and affluence, but her life becomes more complicated when she discovers her sister was hiding secrets of her own. In fact, "The Other Sister" and "Ringer" are so similar it's either a happy coincidence or the author drew inspiration from the series.
Fortunately, that premise is where the similarities end. In The Other Sister, Charlotte's past is not out in the open; the reader knows she did some dark things in her past, and there are hints that she has some fatal personality flaws, but what she actually did doesn't become clear until the climax. Charlotte also had no idea she had a twin until after her mother dies, and there is the question of why her mother allowed one twin to be adopted but not the other. When Charlotte finally meets her twin, Acelynn, she discovers her sister has her own dark side, something that becomes all the more apparent once she assumes her sister's life. Lurking in the background through all this is the threat of a serial killed known as Cupid who has taken the life of one of Acelynn's best friends, a strained relationship with Ace's district attorney boyfriend, and a parallel story about a mother burdened with a sociopathic child who manages to twist the narrative to make it look like the mother is psychotic.
That parallel storyline kind of bothered me at first, as although I knew it would eventually tie into the rest of the book, it confused me since the names and relationships didn't fit with any of the known characters, and the "child evil from birth" never sits well with me. At one point, I thought I had figured out who that storyline was about, and I was completely wrong. AlthoughI expected some of the "twists", there were several that surprised me. And while most of the characters are expectedly evil, even once Charlotte's transgressions are revealed, she remains a sympathetic character.
The narration by Romy Evans is fantastic (despite some audio issues with the advance listening version), though some of the characters with Southern accents are a bit hard to distinguish. Thank you to the author, Harlequin Audio, and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book and provide an unbiased review.

I consumed this one as an audiobook, and the narrator did an excellent job, but there are so many characters and storylines that it was hard to keep up. I had to go back to previous chapters a few times to ensure what I thought was happening was accurate. This was my first book by Jessica R. Patch, but I can't wait to read her other books!
Charlotte Kane grew up in the foster care system because of an alcoholic and drug-addicted mother. Upon her mother's death, Charlotte discovers she has an identical twin sister, Acelynn Benedict, who, unlike her, grew up a wealthy girl in an influential southern family. Mixed in with Charlotte's storyline is a past timeline of a mentally disturbed mother and a manipulative daughter. The story has many unexpected turns and a couple of jaw-dropping revelations near the end that make it a worthy read.

Charlotte Kane discovers she has an identical twin sister, Acelynn Benedict. Acelynn seems to have a picture-perfect life. After a tragedy, Charlotte decides she has no choice but to assume her sister’s identity. However, once she starts posing as Acelynn, she quickly realizes that Acelynn does not have a picture-perfect life, and no one in Acelynn’s life is who they seem to be. Charlotte wants out, but revealing the truth means she would have to return to her troubled life.
Wow! I am still reeling from shocking twists and turns in this book. Every time I thought I knew where the plot was going, something unexpected would occur. This was my first book by Jessica R. Patch, and it definitely won’t be my last. I highly recommend this one to anyone that enjoys extremely twisty psychological thrillers! The narration by Romy Evans was amazing. I give this one 4.5/5 stars.

Twists and more twists in this psychological thriller. I thought this book was really good. The audiobook's narrator did a wonderful job and I was not bored for a minute. I highly recommend! 5 stars
Many thanks to Net Galley and Harlequin Audio for an audio ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
