Thank you to NetGalley, Harper Voyager/Avon and the author for an eARC of this book.

I loved it!!!!!! This was a great Romantasy told from 3 POVs. Their lives and survival become intertwined pretty quickly from the outset of the story and they will need to depend on each other to stay alive.

Jory's kingdom needs protection (Princess), Ky's kingdom needs food (Warrior) and Asher has been hired to kill them both (Assassin). Jory and Asher are childhood friends, while Jory is set to marry Ky to help both of their kingdom's out. These three are each holding secrets of their own that are revealed over the course of the book.

I could not put this thing down! I've never read an ARC so fast I was so enthralled🥰👏✨

I really enjoyed reading from each character's perspective and truly did not know where things were going with each page turn. I found something within each of them to identify with and I really appreciated some of the growth I saw happen for each character. They were each broken in their own ways which makes them even more relatable characters.

On top of all this-I'm a big fan of the 'why choose' trope and Kemmerer really hit the mark here! There was plenty of action as the story rolled and the world building was well done and setup for the next book!

OMG the way I couldn't put this down! I am so glad that Brigid Kemmerer is making her adult debut. This was everything I want in a romantasy. The tension between characters is... whewwwwwww.

Wow!! This is exactly the book I was hoping for from Brigid Kemmerer. If you loved the curse breaker series then you'll love this.

Wow! Wow! Wow! I have found my new love!!! I can’t sing enough praises for this book. The different POVs, the action, the tension!!! I am in LOVE!

I struggled a little bit with Asher’s personality changes but it’s not completely out of the realm of possibility due to the circumstances. I love that they’re all bad-asses in their own ways. I’m hoping Jory discovers magic and that she’s SUPER powerful but Dane is the jerk we all know him to be. I’m still not quite sure what to make of Ky. I feel like I’m missing some of his deeper motives.

There were a few minor grammatical mistakes and a re-edit should be done prior to print but nothing that detracts from the overall story.

SOOO ready for books 2 and 3. Hopefully we don’t have to wait for too long!!! Hint hint

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me an ARC of this book. I am a huge fan of Brigid Kemmerer, so when I was approved, I was a little over the moon with joy. Especially since this is her debut adult novel.

I absolutely loved this book. I originally thought the title was one person, but it became quickly apparent that these were the titles our three main characters hold. And what fascinating characters they are. This entire book was driven by character development, and i adored that about it. By the end, I cared so deeply for all the characters, even the secondary ones.

The one thing I will say is that I do feel like not a lot happened in this book. Did that take away from the story? Absolutely not! I think in a lot of ways, it was necessary to see the evolution of these characters, have them develop strong relationships needed to move the story forward. Enough happened to have me completely thursting to come back to the book. It was just mainly focused on the characters, which, again, I do feel was absolutely necessary for this story.

I am a sucker for a love triangle, and I thought that's where we were headed here. I am also a sucker for a throuple, so when I discovered we were reading that instead of a love triangle, I was still happy. These characters were made for each other and truly made each other better. They're the perfect fit.

I am quite interested to see where this story will go now that we have iron clad relationships built on vulnerability and honesty. Truly an amazing cast in an interesting world. I am hoping we get more on the magic system as I am fascinated to know how it all works. Five stars from me, but that's not surprising. I'd read Brigids grocery list if she let me.

Let me just start off by saying that I KNEW this was going to be a 5 star book at like 25% and it did not disappoint!

The story had me captivated, literally sitting on the edge of my seat at some parts and I could not put it down and the

Kemmerer did such an amazing job with her writing that she had me tearing up less than 50 pages in - I was already so connected to the characters.

And let me tell you, the banter was bantering and the burn was DELICIOUSLY SLOW.

On the romance/fantasy scale I think it leaned a more towards romance but I felt it was the perfect blend.

I CANNOT wait to see where the story goes in the next book.

**Thank you to NetGalley and the author for a digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.**

4.5/5 stars!

The Warrior - Maddox Kyronan needs an alliance to help feed his people
The Princess - Jory, the piece of the puzzle to seal the alliance
The Assassin - Asher, the one hired to kill then both

This was Brigid Kemmerer’s first really foray into the world of adult romantasy and I really enjoyed it! I loved Maddox “Ky” Kyronan from the very beginning and he’s definitely going to be a new book boyfriend for many!
This was a slow burn enemies to lovers and friends to lovers enemies to lovers story that had you dying to find out who was going to get pulled into another’s orbit the whole book!

The overall plot was a bit slow at times because there was a lot more romantic buildup but the ending was explosive and I cannot wait for book 2!

This was absolutely fantastic. I loved every minute of this, from the world building, to the banter, to the tension of the slow burn. Jory is the princess being married off to the enemy king, Ky, to secure an alliance. But when she meets him, he's nothing like she's heard. While they're slow to trust one another, a tentative alliance is beginning to form. And then comes Asher.

Jory's childhood friend, but currently an exiled assassin, complicates things with new orders from the Guild. He's torn and wants to keep her safe, but he soon finds he's going to need to keep the king safe as well. As the three of them try and fifure out who is trying to kill them all, their trust is tested. Repeatedly. When they finally have a moment alone, either between two of them or all three, we finally get to see them as just three people who are confused about who they love.

That scene when the slow burn finally burns is not one to read in public my friends. It snuck up and was so worth the wait 🥵🥵🥵🔥!

Brigid Kemmerer never fails to deliver a book that is going to keep you turning the pages. Having loved her precious two series i knew I was going to love this too. The multi pov brought so much depth to the story and expanded the world. Our three MCs felt so real

Finally! A totally badass FMC that doesn't annoy me. I really enjoyed this story, and Kimmerer proves once again why she is an auto-buy author for me. I will definitely be recommending this to my audience.

Thank you NetGalley for an ARC of this book!

The title was what first got me interested in this book, then I read what it was about and I really wanted to read it. I wasn’t disappointed! I loved all three of the main characters and reading each of their POV’s.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I can’t wait to read the next in this series. I will be going back and reading her other books also!

This started off with a lot of potential with the political marriage alliance story line that I like a lot. In the beginning, it was reminiscent of Reign & Ruin by J.D. Evans. But as the story progressed, I found that it really started to fall flat for me and there wasn’t much going on with the plot.
We are introduced to three POVs: the Princess Jory, the Warrior King Ky, and Jory’s Assassin best friend Asher. Through I enjoyed each of these characters and their backgrounds, I found that there was no nuance between each POV. The tone and voice was the same regardless of whose POV we were in, and it would take me out of the story when I had to remember whose head we were in. I wanted to see more internal personality between the character, and we really didn’t get that.

The plot was also lacking intrigue. We have a kill order on the king and princess, but don’t know who ordered the hit, and we have them traveling across their world to get to the king’s land where we come across bandits and shut. It just didn’t intrigue me much. I didn’t care for the journey the characters were on, I wasn’t on the edge of my seat to figure out the plot’s mystery, and I didn’t believe any feelings the characters had for one another because they hardly interact with each other in an intimate way.

I needed higher stakes, swooning romance, and yearning. But instead, the characters ruminated over the same single issues every chapter they drove. There was no progression of character arcs, and they didn’t shape each other in any way.
It had so much potential, but it really just didn’t deliver so me.

Thank you Net Galley, Bridget Kemmerer, Avon and Harper Voyager for the ARC!

This is such a solid start to a fantasy. The characters are so flushed out, I loved all of them so much. The world and politics are interesting and easy to follow. I'm excited to see what happens next without having to be gutted by a massive painful cliffhanger.

Kemmerer’s adult romantasy debut brims with tension, betrayal, and adventure.

“Warrior Princess Assassin” follows Princess Jory, who is pushed into a political engagement with King Maddox Kyronan (Ky) to protect her people. Her heart belongs to her childhood friend Asher, now part of the Hunter’s Guild. Unbeknownst to Jory, Asher has been tasked with hunting her and Ky down.

Kemmerer’s characters are the driving force of this story. Jory, Ky, and Asher take turns sharing their perspective as narrator with each new chapter, allowing readers to acquaint themselves with the their distinctive voice and motivations. Having been confined to the palace most of her life, Jory is very sheltered and innocent. Asher, who was stripped of his noble status at a young age, is full of rage. Ky is a fierce warrior, but has also been broken by battle. All three characters have different personalities that complement each other. And yet, they are reluctant to acknowledge that, creating a charged air between them. The romantic tension is off the charts as deeper connections are forged. Unlike traditional love triangles, no one is left out at the end of this story. “Warrior Princess Assassin” is my first “why choose” romance, and I really appreciated how Kemmerer developed a relationship between all three characters that felt balanced.

With the characters being the driving force of the story, a lot of the major action and world-building occur within the first and last few chapters. As someone who enjoys plot centered fantasies, I began to lose momentum towards the middle of the story during a lot of the traveling sequences. The cliffhanger definitely piqued my interest, so I’m excited to see how things play out in the sequel!

Brigid is a mastermind! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed everything by this author thus far and this book was no exception. This story starting with a princess who is promised to a king with an ability to control fire (side note: what a badass power!) but he is truly a villain was top notch. It really set the scene and the further world building was absolutely stunning. Jory was an absolutely superior FMC and Asher, her best friend, omg. I’m also a sucker for multiple POV’s and Brigid delivered those POV’s perfectly. Let me tell you, the emotions I felt while reading were so raw and real. Brigid I don’t know how you do it but keep doing it!

I really loved this book. It had all the elements I needed to make it one of my favorite books so far this year. The multiple Povs, the pace, the action, everything was just great. What a great adult debut. Thank you for the opportunity to read this arc.

What I enjoyed about this book: The emotional character depth and connections that the three main characters have are just done so well. The decisions they make, the way they feel, the emotional desires and decisions they make honestly are completely realistic. It doesn't feel like any of these characters are like many others within this genre. The bad guys you truly hate and the good guys you want to win the day. The intimate scenes between the characters as well really was done well. I didn't find myself skipping over it and I didn't find the scenes unrealistic either. There is such genuine emotion and desire and it was written so well to me in comparison to other books I've read. I also felt the Princess's vision of what the world is happens to be honest considering the life she has and what she has been led to believe.

What was meh for me: I really wish there was more action to things. The characters though were balanced out. I just thought in reading the blurb there would be more action scenes, more political movements. Much of the book was focused on the characters emotional depth, which is fine - I love character based stories. It just wasn't what I expected. This is in no way reflective of the writing or story, it's just not what I would have read right away. If I was waiting for a release and I had time to read this, I would.

What I didn't like: There wasn't anything in this book that I didn't like or that I hated. For what I generally read, this is a good book to read in between other series for me.

Thank you for the opportunity to read this story.

I was excited for an adult novel from Brigid Kemmerer because I enjoy her YA novels. Unfortunately, this one disappoints. The storyline is weak and all the plot happens in the last 5% of the book. Otherwise, the characters are just wandering in the woods mentally lusting after one another instead of building their characters. This is a “why choose” romance which I did not realize going into reading this book. The romance was forced for all the characters and the fantasy portion was barely there. I skimmed through half of this book because it just was not worth reading. The cliffhanger was predictable and I have no desire to read a follow up novel. If you have not read a book by this author, I recommend choosing a different series.

Thank you so much Avon and Netgalley.

This was such a fun read! It starts off immediately into action. You learn about the world through different viewpoints; a princess that is sheltered from the world, an assassin who has been through the worst of society and a king who has always been at war, and I really think these different viewpoints make the world building so much better.
The three main characters all seamlessly integrate themselves with each other. It is a more insta-love-style story which I normally don’t care for, but the characters complement each other so well that I enjoyed it.
Every chapter had me rooting for a new character to bond more, even knowing they all end up together. Each character makes sense of how they fit together, and I love them so much.
The pacing of the story is a bit off as it starts off fast and then slows down quite a bit, but overall it was so fun, and I really cannot wait for the next one!

Warrior - Maddox Kyronan, the king of Incendar and owner of a reputation for ruthless efficiency in war. He's the only hope of his people, who are currently running out of food and farmable land, leading him to seek a political marriage alliance with Astranza in order to secure access to Astranza's king's weather magic to keep his people from famine.

Princess - Jory is the princess of Astranza, a kingdom on the verge of war with Draegonis. While she would rather run away with her childhood best friend, Jory is willing to commit to the marriage alliance with Ky for the good of her own kingdom; but she's not being entirely honest about her kingdom's side of the deal.

Assassin - Asher is the child of the late queen's first lady-in-waiting. Through a series of tragic events, he's ended up as an assassin in the Hunter's Guild, and Jory is all that he has left of his old life. When he's given an order to kill both Jory and Ky, he has to figure out how deep his alliance to Jory runs.

This is a book I usually wouldn't care for (given it's a romance, which I did not know when I first heard about this book but it sounded interesting so I wanted to take a chance on it) and yet I actually had such a good time reading this book and I really want to see what happens next with these characters.

Positives:
This book is very character-focused. After the main characters start interacting, there's really not a chapter where they're apart, and I think that's actually a great choice for this story. It builds the character dynamics quite nicely and I think is what keeps this from feeling like instalove, as the actual timeline of the book is pretty fast.

One of the reasons I usually don't like romance subplots is because I find that a lot of the time it comes down to characters finding each other attractive, and the audience will be repeatedly told that they are attracted to each other, and this is supposed to be a convincing love story. That is not a problem with this book. Yes, the characters find each other attractive and at times (in my humble asexual opinion) it is mentioned to a point or at a point in which it feels unrealistic or unnecessary. But they also, and primarily, are drawn more towards who each other are as people. Each duo has a different dynamic and it's differentiated so well.

Negatives:
Jory is perhaps the most common character archetype in this story. She's very naive and innocent to the point that it sometimes seems impossible for her to have not picked up on certain things. I do think that this could easily change going forward in the series, however.

I don't think the author has any control over this, but the description of the book mentions a detail that, unless I missed something, isn't included in the book until near page 300 (This is in addition to a few structural errors throughout the description, at least on Goodreads). And I had a solid guess on how this plot point happened long before I guess I should even have known about it as a result.

Trigger Warnings:
The book does contain a page at the very beginning listing trigger and content warnings (mature language, violence, explicit romantic material, past trauma, and abuse, including sexual abuse). I however, would like to note that sexual abuse is part of a main character's background, and while there are no detailed descriptions, it does shape interactions and responses to other characters in the story.
