Jeneva Rose returns with The Perfect Divorce, the sequel to her hit thriller The Perfect Marriage. While I enjoyed diving back into the world of Sarah Morgan and her high-stakes legal battles, this follow-up felt a bit like retreading old ground. The plot structure and twists echoed much of the first book, which made the pacing feel slower and less gripping by comparison.

That said, Rose still knows how to weave a compelling courtroom drama, and fans of her writing will appreciate the familiar tone and tension. It’s a decent read overall—one that I’m glad I picked up, even if it didn’t quite match the punch of its predecessor. I wouldn’t rush to read it again, but it still offered a solid continuation of the story.

I was a little nervous diving into this one because I loved The Perfect Marriage so much. I thought that book ended perfectly and it didn't need to be revisited. Well, I was wrong. Jeneva Rose knows better and this one was just as great as the first. It really came to life on audio. The production was so well done, I highly recommend that format.

Thank you to netgalley and blackstone publishing for the ALC.

This is one of those rare cases where the sequel is better than the original. Even if the twists were kind of predictable, I still enjoyed the game of cat and mouse. The pace seemed fast and it definitely had some darkness.

The narration was spot on in this audio book.

"A Perfect Divorce," sequel to "A Perfect Marriage" by Jeneva Rose, follows Sarah Morgan 11 years after the divorce. The story resumes a year after the events of the first book and includes various plot twists.
Sarah, now married to Bob Miller and having a daughter, discovers Bob's infidelity. As Sarah files for divorce, new DNA evidence implicates her ex-husband in a reopened murder case involving Kelly Summer. Shortly afterward, her husband's mistress goes missing. The narrative includes three intertwined mysteries: Stacy’s disappearance, the reopened Kelly Summers case, and a cop’s suspicious death. This sequel features brief chapters, a straightforward plot, and detailed police procedures and is a page turner. One aspect stays unresolved, and it will likely be addressed in the next book of the trilogy which I can't wait to read. I give this book a solid 4.5. Thank you Netgalley and Jeneva Rose for this ARC in exchange for an honest review,

The Perfect Marriage is one of my fave thrillers, so I was so excited to get the arc for this sequel!
Jeneva Rose is an auto-buy author for me and this story did not disappoint! Sarah Morgan is one of those characters you don't easily forget! She is sly and diabolical. Like the first book, this story was packed full of twists and turns which is exactly what I look for in a thriller.
If you like mysteries that have a dark and cunning main character with " don't trust anyone" vibes, you'll love The Perfect Divorce!

Finally read the perfect marriage and enjoyed it, so naturally had to read the perfect divorce right after! I’m glad I read them consecutively because it was easier to remember everything that happened in the first book. Sarah is wildly vindictive. Her planning was downright diabolical.

What a phenomenal read that kept you holding on for “what’s next?” Throughout the entire read. A perfect follow up to the perfect marriage. Jeneva Rose does not disappoint and is an automatic read for me. What a great book! Thank you Blackstone Publishing and NetGalley for the AudioARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

As a sequel, The Perfect Divorce doesn’t quite reach the heights of The Perfect Marriage, but it still delivers a few solid twists and turns to keep you curious. The plot moves quickly and has its entertaining moments, even if it doesn’t leave a lasting impact.

The narration, however, didn’t quite land for me. Despite the impressive lineup, some parts felt oddly flat or overly polished, almost robotic at times. It pulled me out of the story more than once, which was disappointing considering how strong the premise was. I also wanted to cry every time the narrator pronounced Nigel as Nigle. You’re telling me that no one caught this in recording or editing? Also, we didn’t need as many narrators as there were. It didn’t add to the story at all.

That said, if you enjoyed the first book, this one might still be worth a listen for the storyline alone—just temper your expectations when it comes to the audio experience.

Wow! I loved the first book in the series - A Perfect Marriage - then Jeneva Rose comes out with this highly entertaining, an unputdownable sequel. Jeneva Rose you have done an amazing job. The narrator on the audiobook was great. I could listen to that voice endelessly.

This book was one I could not put down and I thought it was even better than the first. Dark, fast paced with constant twists that kept me on the edge of my seat. Sarah is one crude character and I’m certainly digging it.

I highly recommend reading The Perfect Marriage before reading this one. You will not be disappointed!

Thank you to NetGalley and Blackstone Publishing for my ARC.

The Perfect Divorce
by Jeneva Rose
Narrated by Mozahn Navabi, J.S. Arquin, Adam Lazarre- White, Brittany Pressley, Andi Arndt, Andrew Eiden,

Having not read The Perfect Marriage, this book was fine as a standalone novel. I loved the premise, and while it was an enjoyable listen, it was a bit of a slower listen for me. Sarah and Bob are both diabolical in their own right. The story was fun and moved along at a good pace. The narration was decent, but felt forced in parts. I think that this book would have been better represented with one or two narrators, to be honest. I think that the way that everything came together in the end twist was great and well thought out, but the book ended, leaving me a bit unsatisfied.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and Blackstone Publishing for the chance to listen to and review this ARC!

Thanks to Blackstone & NetGalley for providing an audio ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I didn't read the first book in this series, THE PERFECT MARRIAGE, but I was able to pick up most of what happened. I am definitely curious to read about what these gross characters did in that book! Yep, there's really no one at all to root for in this story, pretty much everyone is awful. Sarah Morgan, our "heroine," (?) is a murderous schemer dressed as a competent, intelligent lawyer; her second husband. Bob Miller, is a self-serving creep who blames everyone else for his problems. The only palatable characters are their daughter, Summer, and Sarah's office manager, Anne (although I have no idea what terrible things she may have done in the previous book!).

Rose keeps things moving, though, and although I switched to the audio after it was made available, I started with the eBook and it was a quick read. There are many, many twists and turns, and while the reader is kept in the dark for most of the machinations, it's not hard to figure out who's going to win in the end. I gather that Rose is known for her twists, and there are a couple of decent ones here, nothing earth-shattering. Still better than Freida McFadden, LOL!

I will probably go back and read the first in the series (eventually), but it would've been a better read with someone to root for - this was '80s soap opera levels of nasty main characters, with little development done to flesh them out or make me give a flying f*ck what happens to their awful selves.

The voice actors did an admirable job, especially Andrew Eiden, whose "punchable face" kind of voice really shines through. It's like he listened to Alex Moffat's "Guy Who Just Bought a Boat" skits on repeat. All the others are also pros with little to no mispronunciations or baubles. Good casting and good production.

3.5 stars rounded up

I am obsessed with this little world with Sarah Morgan. She is a mastermind. Jeneva Rose is one of my favorites when it comes to mystery/thriller/suspense. I am always left on my toes, think I know what’s happening, then am completely left awestruck. Sarah Morgan found her husband Bob was cheating so she decides to divorce him. Crazy, right? Seeing as where Sarah made sure her first husband didn’t get away with it, I was shocked Sarah went with the divorce route this time. But hey, keep reading and you may just be shocked.
Also, the narrators did a phenomenal job! I’m so glad they chose different people for each character. It really sets the tone of the characters and story.

Thank you Jeneva Rose, NetGalley, and Blackstone Publishing for a copy of this audio!

I was excited to get reading this sequel and I was thankful to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of the eaudiobook to read. I would have been waiting awhile for my library’s copy on Libby!

For some reason, the sequel, for me anyway, paled in comparison to The Perfect Marriage. I found myself just not enjoying the characters, specifically Bob, possibly due to his voice on the audiobook. If I had read the book instead of listening to it, I wonder if I would have a different perspective. Jeneva Rose is one of my new favorite authors after discovering her one Sunday afternoon, a year and a half ago, when trying to choose a book to listen to while using my treadmill. I wanted to love this book as much as I have enjoyed her other novels. I will still recommend this book to my library patrons and will enjoy the discussions at the front desk to get other opinions about this book. Maybe I was having an off day!

The Perfect Divorce by Jeneva Rose is a fast-paced mystery thriller that delivers an engaging reading experience, reminiscent of James Patterson or Clive Cussler’s storytelling style. The plot moves briskly, with unexpected twists and turns that keep you hooked from the start. The suspense is well-maintained throughout, making it hard to put the book down. However, while the thrill element is strong, the depth of the characters—especially the female main character, Sarah—is lacking. Her backstory is confusing and underdeveloped, which makes it difficult to fully connect with her motivations or understand her emotional journey. It feels as though the author rushed through her character arc, leaving many aspects of her past and personality ambiguous. The relationship between Sarah and Adam, which had great potential to add emotional weight to the narrative, felt underexplored. More insight into their dynamics and history could have added a richer layer to the story.

Overall, while the book succeeds in keeping readers engaged with its twists and action, it falls a bit short on character development. If you’re looking for a quick, twisty thriller with a cinematic vibe, this book delivers—but don’t expect deep character insights. The book deserves 3 stars.

A twisted brain teaser of a tale. This sequel picks up with the creativity and intelligence that The Perfect Marriage left off. With just enough characters to keep the reader guessing, this plot twisting, sick minded story of revenge is brilliant. There are a lot of characters so this is not for the weak hearted reader. I could visualize this so well that I think it would make a great movie- if done right!

Jeneva Rose knows how to write a twisty thriller, and The Perfect Divorce does not disappoint. It is the sequel to The Perfect Marriage. It is necessary to read these books in order so that nothing gets spoiled for you and to get the most out of the sequel.

I originally was not going to listen to this book due to it being a sequel. Several other reviewers stated it wasn't necesaary to read the first book. Boy, were they right! Sarah is twisted, mean, and this story is crazy. You may have better character development if you read the first book, but it is not a requirement l!
