Dr Adam wasnt always the gorgeous and respected doctor he is today. once he was the picked on young boy who doesnt get a look in. so why would Jessica have noticed how in love he was with her back then? she wouldnt. and she doesnt know its lasted and is still the case to this day. so when Jessica steps in for her annual review and is instantly transifxed by him, well things start to get interesting.
i appreciate these romances arent for everyone. and i think thats ok. but its also okay to read these kinds of books and enjoy them. it doesnt mean the reader is morally corrupt or likes disturbing sometimes toxic kind of relationships. books are a safe space to explore different angles of people and life. and they are certainly thinking points.
because whilst i thought this book was a gripping one. i certainly hope none of these things occur in my life.
but this book was a spicy angle on the medical romance genre. the characters were way better fleshed out in this. so for me it added a better level of understanding and charm to it. and had you feeling a deeper understanding of both of them as a pair and apart.
the proximity of tension between these two when they were together was off the scale.
our heroin was indeed the bright sunshine character. and our hero had his issues that made him react and of act the way he did.
this book is a a gooden for anyone who is into this genre. i would recommend to anyone.

Melissa/Lexi what ever happened to the first gift
West/Adam gave Jessica?

These chapters gives us a new season a scary, sweet moment.
We get a heart rate rising moments at a workplace and
the rolls are reversed.
(thermometers never the same).

Most of the next chapters are tense moments and will
bring your book anxiety(if you are like me) up.
We get another heart rate rising moment,a surprise in
the works and oh no there is a problem.
Will we see a new love blooming?
The epilogue hmm did a certain doctor have
something to do with this?

Wow another cliff hanger
I need more especially with the surprise and the problem.

Chapters 11-15

I continue to love the more in depth the story is becoming.
I am also loving the Art work after the chapters.
The heart rate rising moment in the bathroom,
the good doctor didn't care about their surroundings Wow!
The incidents between the Good doctor and the two men who tried to hurt Jess Wow!

The Good Doctors secret room um excuse me,
mine would be a home library just saying lol.
There is a surprise in chapter 15 !

I CAN'T WAIT to read more

I need more !

Chapters 6-10

I am loving how Lexi adds more details to this book.
Yes,if we read the last three books We know what happens,
but adding more to the book makes us want to read more.

The heart rate rising moments still make me feel like it's
actually me it's happening too and you feel what is being
written I love how We can feel West/Adam's feelings more
with this book as well.

I can't wait to read more

If this is your first time reading my reviews,
I like to read 5 chapters and review and repeat the process
until I am finished with the story.

I also like to have pictures in my head of the characters
(yes I know sometimes they are on the covers),
but it's easier for me when I am reading the book.
I use actors/actress',Broadway actors/actress' and wrestlers.

With that said
Dr.Adam West I see as : Damian Priest(WWE)
Jessica Jones I see as : Ashley Benson(Pretty Little Liars)
Kent Wilson I see as : Michael Winters(Gilmore Girls)
Monica I see as : Laura Osnes (One Royal Holiday)
Brad I see as: Sami Zayn(WWE)

Chapters 1-5

I love how we are getting deeper in the story
,even thought we learned about those things further in the story.
I still am loving that Jessica is a snort laugher like myself.

I do have a question though what ever happened to the first gift that West(Adam) gave Jessica? I don't think We ever hear about it ?

Jessica is getting ready to have a house call from Dr.West and I CAN'T WAIT to see what Lexi has in store for us.

I CAN'T WAIT to read more

When Jessica went in for a routine check up, she didn’t expect her doctor to be hot as sin. She’s immediately attracted to him, which makes her appointment a bit awkward.
Dr. West is the doctor all the ladies gush over. He’s surprised to see that Jessica is his new patient. When they were in high school together, he had a crush on her. But she was popular and he was the kid with a troubled home life. Now he’s the one in control and he plans on using it to his advantage.
Dr. West makes Jessica feel things that she hasn’t before. But he’s only looking for something physical.
When her safety is threaten, he demands she move in with him. He just has a couple rules - they will not sleep in the same bed and don’t go into the locked room. The more time they spend under the same roof the harder it becomes to stick to the rules. Deep conversations and passionate nights turn their relationship into something more. But when Dr. West’s secrets are revealed, Jessica can’t help but wonder if everything was a lie. Now she has to decide if their love is enough to look past everything or if the lies are too much to forgive.

This book was a wild ride. Aside from all the spice, there is a suspenseful plot line in the story which I liked. Dr. West had a troubled childhood and there were secrets he was hiding from Jessica. Jessica may have been the popular cheerleader in high school, but she felt very alone. After she opened up to Dr. West, you start to see him soften up to her. I liked that we got to see their relationship evolve into something more than just a physical one. Towards the end of the book all the reveals just kept coming. Adam was something else lol. I was shocked at what he did to Jessica. As I was reading, I was thinking “you’re going too far”, “you’re going to lose her.” And just when I thought he learned his lesson, he did it again but in a different way. I did like how he brought out a different side of Jessica. She became more confident and was able to express what she wanted more easily. I was also happy that Adam opened up more about his childhood to Jessica, so she was able to understand him better. Even though I do not condone what he did and how he acted in some parts at all, I was still happy they ended up together in the end!

Thank you Lexi Davis for the ARC!

4.25⭐

Dark, twisted and mostly extremely hot. Definitely read the trigger warnings the author provides. Actually the back stories of the main characters were more compelling and fleshed out than expected turning this dark romance into an actual love story. Thanks to the author and netgalley for the ARC. My opinions are unbiased and totally my own.

Thank you to Netgalley and Lexi Davis for the ARC.

This was a book was an intense dark romance between a doctor and his patient/high school crush. West was the quintessential damaged and possessive MMC and Jessica the open hearted heroine. This story explores obsession, trauma, and desire in a tension packed quick read. There are many red flags, but it wouldn’t be a dark romance without some suspension of disbelief. All in all it was a steamy, taboo fun ride.

I just want to say thank you to NetGalley and Lexi Davis for giving me this opportunity to read my very first ARC! This book is SPICY but not the spiciest book I’ve ever read. It gives 50 Shades of Grey vibes within a doctor/patient kirk. 10/10 recommend this book! It’s also a great palette cleanser and a quick read!

3.5/5 ⭐️

This was a little darker/spicier than I usually read, but the plot in it was great!
This was a forbidden dark romance between doctor and patient. You could feel the tension between West and Jessica from their first meeting! West was possessive, protective, and severely obsessive. Jessica pushed herself to new levels through this story and learned more about herself through West. The ending of this story was perfect!

This was interesting to say the least. this was my first medical romance in the aspect of their being medical play so i was definitely intrigued, it’s a doctor/patient trope. there are dark aspects but not completely dark. it’s a fast pace read, the book started off crazy from like ch 2 and i was like no way this is happening rn i was like “oh so we’re rlly doing this.” it was definitely steamy and moved along quickly. my heart went for the mmc because of his past but he was definitely not right in the head but i guess that’s what trauma does to you. we love an unhinged mmc. i liked seeing the fmc’s character development with the help of the mmc, he rlly taught her how to use her voice. the fmc is a teacher and the main thing i loved abt her was how much she advocated for her students, she rlly rode for them. overall, i think this was a fun read but at the same time check the triggers.

I went in thinking the medical kink might be where I tapped out—turns out, the kink was the least of my concerns.

*Deeply Examined* tries to sell West as a flawed but lovable MMC with a dominant streak. Instead, what we get is a controlling, manipulative man masquerading as a romantic hero. He installs hidden cameras throughout the house *without telling her.* Injects her with a tracker. Hides *another* tracker in the diamond earrings he gifts her. And the cherry on top? He pretends to be her doorman so he can eavesdrop on her through said earrings. WHAT.

When he tries to win her back, he flips the script: “This is what you do to me. You drive me to this.” That’s not remorse. That’s textbook emotional abuse. And his parting line? That no matter what she wants, he’ll always be watching her. HARD PASS.

This isn’t a dark romance. This is a red flag parade with some sex scenes.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review—sorry it had to be this honest.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me the opportunity to read this !!! This was my first ARC read. It definitely made me blush from the very first chapter. This was also my first medical dark romance and I was not disappointed! The spice is VERY NICE and I enjoyed the trope of old highschool crush. I can never look at going to the OBGYN the same lol. This was a great time!

I really wanted to love this. I just didn’t. It starts are spicy ( it that I mind) however that is it. I don’t like either MC and the plot is just not there. I tried so bad but I DNF at %70. I think others might like it better. Just not for me.

So, from the very start, Jessica comes to a doctor's office for her annual checkup.
Here, I found this confusing, and I don't know how it works in the US, but in Canada, your family doctor does the annual or physical checkup. If your paps result is not good, they refer you to OBGyn.
In this scenario (again, I'm not sure how it works in the US), Jessica is here for an annual checkup (only for her gynae) issues and sees a doctor she hasn't met before. Again, in Canada, you know who your doctor is (your family doctor), and if the doctor refers you to the specialist, you already know his/her name. The only thing you do is Google.
Anyway, the doctor comes in. She is instantly turned on (since he is sexy), and the doctor (who I instantly disapprove of) plays with her body (ahem, private parts). The worst part: she is enjoying it. Duh! I would immediately file a complaint. And NO doctor would risk his career and years of hard work for a bit of pleasure. What kind of twisted brain she has, or she is very desperate that 'somebody please touch me there!'.
Then, on the second visit, he offers to visit her home (which is also another triggering point as it risks their career). Again, no doctor would risk it. But Dr. West had been in love with her since childhood. We get it. You can take a risk if you're in love.
What triggered me was that the story jumped into smut right from the first scene.
I did read the trigger warning, and it's not those warnings that put me off. I believe there should have been a background, a little scene from Jessica's life in the first chapter (e.g her teaching life), anything to start the story with, rather than her opening her legs to a doctor who decides to play with her. I was initially putting it into DNF, and yet I managed to read until he inserted tracking chip in her.
I've read many dark romances, and although they are heavy on smut, there is a plotline.
Afraid, not my cup of tea!

A masterclass in dark romance with emotional depth.
Deeply Examined by Lexi Davis is a gripping, heart-pounding, beautifully written novel that explores obsession, trauma, protection, and desire through the lens of a forbidden doctor/patient dynamic. Jessica and West have magnetic chemistry and a bond that intensifies as the story unravels.
The writing is sharp, the pacing perfect, and the last 40% is a rollercoaster of revelations and emotional gut punches.
Spice level sits at a strong 3–4, with scenes that are as emotionally charged as they are steamy.
Highly recommended for fans of dark romance who crave substance, suspense, and soul-deep storytelling, combined in a quick read!

3.5/5 – Quick, steamy, and full of tension

Deeply Examined was a short but addictive read. It had some great twists, solid chemistry, and just enough suspense to keep me interested. The doctor-patient dynamic between Jessica and Dr. West is intense from the start—bold, forbidden, and full of heat. The spice level is definitely a 5/5, no subtlety here, and I mean that in the best way.

I really liked how Lexi Davis didn’t shy away from exploring taboo topics. The story normalizes fantasy and pushes boundaries in a way that feels both daring and thoughtful.

The dual POV worked really well too. Seeing both Jessica’s growing obsession and Dr. West’s dark, guarded side added depth and made me want to know more about him. The hints at his trauma and the protective edge to his character made things feel more layered.

That said, I do wish the writing had been a bit tighter. Some parts felt a little rushed or under-polished, and I think with a bit more development, it could’ve hit even harder emotionally.

Still, I loved this quote: “And just like that, I know this woman isn’t afraid of the darkness—she’s drawn to it.” That line really stuck with me.

Overall, if you're in the mood for something fast, spicy, and full of forbidden tension, this one’s worth picking up. The cliffhanger definitely hooked me—I’ll be reading the next one.

Thank you to NetGalley for the eARC.

This is a Dark Romance Medical Romance and you should review the trigger warnings before diving in.

I enjoyed the stalkerish and possessive MMC and I like the confidence our FMC Jess gains. I liked that the MMC wasn't a stereotypical perfectly honed killer and had moments of self doubt. In fact, I enjoyed the story arc overall.

I didn't like that the doctor was an OBGYBN and I had to skim read most of their first encounter. I knew this was a doctor/patient dynamic and was ok with that, I was not expecting him to be a OBGYN. I think I may have enjoyed it / been more comfortable if he was a different kind of specialist.

Huge thanks Lexi Davis and Netgalley for the ARC—what a wild ride this was!

This book dives into taboo territory with a dark, twisty romance between a doctor and his patient. He’s known her since they were kids… but does she have any clue who he is now? Nope. The once-quiet, chubby boy has majorly leveled up—think broody, respected doc vibes. Meanwhile, she’s not the queen bee anymore, and the power dynamic? Flipped hard. It’s intense, messy, and totally addictive.

This was my first Lexi Davis read as well my first dip into the dark MEDICAL romance pool, and while some of the steamy scenes weren’t exactly my flavor, I still appreciated the bold, unapologetic vibe. That’s the magic of dark romance—it pushes boundaries and keeps you on your toes! Some parts did seem a bit rushed, but somehow it still worked.

Overall? A solid 3.5 stars (4 stars below because ...well you know.) and a total slay.!
Would I recommend it? If you like taboo, tension, and a little emotional whiplash—absolutely.

Deeply Examined
( A Dark Medical Romance)
Pub Date: April 24
3.5 ⭐
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Dr. Adam West has been obsessed with Jessica Jones since he was in high school. She was and still his big crush the one he didn't forget. So when she stepped inside his office after 15 years, he couldn't stop himself and some stuff happened during the examination 🫣🤭🫢🤫.
Jessica is a high school teacher struggling financially trying to get a job in New York and living life day by day but when she meets The Doctor her whole world is turned upside down and when something awful happens with her at her building Adam comes to the rescue and take her to his house. It was supposed to be a temporary arrangement however the lines starts to blur and maybe after all Dr. Adam does have feelings.
If you like to read about BDSM and other kinky stuff and love a sexy villain, you would enjoy this book.
It has a lot of similarities to #FiftyShadesOfGrey with some differences.
It was good and enjoyable 😊.
Thanks to @netgalley and the publisher for granting me an ARC of #DeeplyExamined in exchange for my honest review.

Xoxo😘

Lexi Davis delivered in this medical romance.

Told in first person dual POV we have Jessica and Adam.

It is a dark romance and triggers should be checked if you have them: especially for noncon/dubcon in a doctor office, medical visit setting. There is also stalking, violence, and manipulation. The red flags are red flagging, but what is a dark romance without a morally gray main male character?

This omnibus is the perfect full length and defintely a quick read.

I was lucky enough to get an ARC copy of this book and I want to start off with a warning please read the author trigger warnings as always protect yourself. I am a huge fan of Dark Romance stories they are a great escape from the everyday for me. Deeply Examined was just that kind of escape. This story was everything a dark romance reader could possibly want. I don’t want to go into spoilers here so I will just say if after you read the triggers you still proceed I do not think you will be disappointed. The characters are flawed in a very real way and at times that hurts yet it only adds to the realness of the characters at the heart of the story. After all if the characters are not relatable the story will never grab you and pull you in. Thank you to Author Lexi Davis for giving us the characters this story needed and I can not wait to read more of your stories.
