A Cornish Cottage by the Sea- Kim Nash
I am devouring books at the minute and this one literally only took me a few hours. It was a gorgeous, hopeful, cosy and lighthearted read. The perfect book for a rotten rainy day but equally perfect as a lovely beach read.
I have always been intrigued by beautiful Cornwall and this book would make anyone think about packing up their life and heading off in search of their new Cornish life.
The story centres on Jo, divorced and stuggling with her empty nest. She had given up her career to be a wonderful mum to her 2 girls and a devoted wife to a man who, in the end, buggers off to a sunnier climate with her best friend , in the holiday home he and Jo had picked out. Her daughters are very much wrapped up in their own lives and so Jo appears to be leading quite a lonely existence.
One call changes everything. She is told that she has inherited her ex husbands aunts idyllic cottage by the Sea in Cornwall. She had long admired the cottage and is completely astounded that it now belongs to her.
She packs up her old life with encouragement from her mother and her exciting rollercoaster ride begins.

This is a wonderful story about love, friendship, starting again, hope and the theme of adoption also comes into to. Jo is a brave, resilient character who wins your heart right from the first pages. The new friendships she makes in Cornwall and the renewed zest for life she develops make the story an absolute pleasure to read. There are so many characters to fall head over heels with in this book, all with their own rich backstories. I wouldn't mind bumping into a Seamus myself.
I think it's a really hopeful story that drives home the message that you're never too old to start again, to find your tribe, find a new purpose and even to find love. Jo finds herself again in Cornwall.
Its just an incredible read. Exactly what I needed on a rainy day after reading 3 thrillers back to back. Will definitely be looking up more books by Nash in the future.
As always thank you to @netgalley and @boldwoodeverafter @theboldbookclub for the ARC and the chance to read and review such a gorgeous novel.

I really enjoyed this cute cosy read. How the cover makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, the story does exactly the same.

This is Kim's new series set in Sandpiper Shore and it kicks off with a bang. We meet Jo who is divorced and ends up inheriting this old run down house from her ex husband's aunty. She is feeling a bit dispondent due to her marriage breaking down, kids grown up and flown the nest and getting married. When she is told about the house she takes a chance and goes.

This was a great story about finding yourself, especially when you lose your identity as a mum, starting over and finding friends and more. It was really refreshing to read a romance where the main characters are over 40. I do didn't guess the little plot twist towards the end of the book which is good.

If you want a really cute, easy, ligh hearted read, low angst that makes you feel like you have had a warm hug when you have finished.... then rush out and get this when it is released!

The Cornish Cottage by the Sea is a heartwarming story of second chances, fresh starts, and finding joy later in life.

🥹 Uplifting | ❤️‍ Second Chances | 🇬🇧 Cornwall

I’ve known of Kim Nash as an author for years, but for some reason, I never picked up one of her books—until now. And I’m so incredibly grateful I finally did. I’ve officially become a fan! Huge thanks to Boldwood Books for the early ARC—what a gift.

After a lifetime of putting others first, newly divorced Jo Jenkins unexpectedly inherits a crumbling seaside cottage in Cornwall. This unexpected windfall offers her not just a fresh start, but a chance to rediscover herself. As Jo begins to renovate the cottage with the help of new friends, she unearths more than just dust and broken floorboards—a buried secret from the past challenges everything she thought she knew. But it also paves the way for a future she never dared to imagine.

This book completely took me by surprise. I didn’t expect it to sweep me off my feet the way it did. It was like a balm for my soul. I fell in love with so many elements: the stunning Cornish coastline, the lovable characters, the heartwarming friendships, and the humor—it made me giggle more than once! This was the kind of story I didn’t realize I needed. I connected with Jo from the very first pages, and that instant bond kept me flipping through the chapters. I didn’t want it to end.

Beyond Jo and Seamus, there are so many standout characters. Jo’s mum, with her unwavering support, and her new friends Emma and Michelle, who help her form The Lonely Hearts Club, were all simply wonderful. I adored watching their friendship blossom—it added so much heart to the story.

And Seamus… what a gem of a character. Kind, capable, and full of charm, he was the perfect partner in both renovation and healing. I loved the banter between him and Jo—it felt so natural and fun. If I had one small wish, it’s that I would’ve liked to see even more of their relationship develop toward the end. The adoption theme that came into play was touching, but I missed a bit more time with Jo and Seamus together as a couple.

Kim Nash has delivered a feel-good, emotionally rich novel featuring a slightly older heroine who proves it’s never too late to choose yourself—and to find love, friendship, and purpose in the most unexpected places.

I can’t wait to dive into more of Kim’s backlist, and I really hope this isn’t the last we see of Sandpiper Shore. I’d love to return.

One more thing that made this reading experience even sweeter: while I was reading the ARC, I recommended it to a fellow bookstagrammer—and she ended up loving it too! Always the best feeling.

I kindly received this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you so much Boldwood Books.

This was a true heartwarming, uplifting story of hope. I loved Jo, Jos mum, Seamus, Emma and Michelle. They showed what real friendship and love is about. I admired Jos resilience when it came to complex situations and relationships. The book showed you can bounce back from bad times and make you happier than you were before. It explores second chances and seeking happiness in yourself.

This is my first book by Kim and was recommended to me and I adored it, I devoured it in a day. The writing is just so easy to read with a fantastic plot line and stunning setting. I will definitely be reading more of Kim’s books.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

A quick and cozy tale set on the Cornish coastline, The Cornish Cottage by the Sea is a perfect summertime read. Exploring second chances, friendship, and seeking happiness for oneself, we follow Jo as she begins a new chapter in life after being left cottage in Cornwall that is in need of some care and attention. I did love that the main protagonist was an older female, we still need more of those!

I love Kim Nash's books. Always a focus on a slightly older FMC and second chances.
In The Cornish Cottage By The Sea, Jo Jenkins is a divorcee and mother to two grown-up daughters. She's stagnating in her little flat, in a place that only holds sad memories, staying there in case her family wants to come 'home'.
An inheritance she never expected leaves her as the owner of a Cornish cottage owned by her ex-husband's aunt, which she coveted when she first. It's a big move. The cottage is not quite what she remembered, but the place is still beautiful with idyllic surroundings and views she could stare at forever. Knowing there are members of her family who weren't on board with the move, Jo carries on, hoping for the best, but doubting she will perform miracles.
I loved that Jo found terrific, supportive friends from the beginning, conquering her reluctance to talk to people she doesn't know, after advice from her mum, and beginning every friendship with simple conversations.
The way she builds her new gang of 'people' is lovely. It gives hope that there is a way to move forward positively even when everything you lived for has changed.
Jo meets Seamus, a local handyman, through his father, and one of her new "I am brave' conversations with strangers. He is friendly, helpful, and somewhat handsome, but Jo is so used to seeing herself as the frumpy middle-aged mother figure that she can't believe he would be interested in her.
Her new friends help to build her self-confidence back up to where it should be, and they even form a Friday Club, which sounds like a blast, and support others around them.
A mystery that she didn't even know she wanted to solve also presents its solution to her towards the end.
Such a wonderful story. I read it in a day!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for an ARC.

Jo Jenkins has recently divorced after her ex-husband Micheal has run off with his secretary that is also Jo’s best friend.
She currently doesn’t know what to do with herself now she has spare time being single and both her daughters have grown up and flown the nest. She gets a surprised phone call to say that the beautiful Cornish cottage in Sandpiper that Micheal’s Aunt has been left to her in her will.
At first, she thinks it’s a mistake. But she has fonds memories of the cottage which she visited some years ago. Her mother thinks it would be good for her and to move somewhere new a start a new life. Even her mother is doing just that.
When she arrives at the cottage is not in the state she remembered. But in a sad state. She hires odd job man Seamus to help with the renovations. So that maybe one day it will be back to its former glory. Soon not only the house gets better but she is meeting new people and making new friends. Her own life turns for the better.
Thank you, publisher, for a copy of Cornish cottage by the sea by Kim Nash. I needed a change of pace the books I am currently reading, and this was just the treat I needed. This is a beautifully written story of second chances in life and living again. It’s never too late to start again and finding your soulmate. I loved every minute of this. 5 stars from me.

First of all, thank you to NetGalley for giving me an ARC of this book, in exchange for an honest review.

This is a book about Jo, who happens to be in a bit of a limbo and rut with her life; ever being the people pleaser with everyone in her life. Things happen to change for the better, when she happens to inherit a cottage by the sea in Cornwall, and she uses it as a chance for her to become the main character in her life-meeting new friends and perspectives, in this new chapter of her life. Jo starts off as a side character in her own life, until she seizes it and finally becomes the main character she always should have been. Hurrah!

This for me, was a beautiful story full of cottage-cosy-galore, which can never really go wrong in my eyes. I particularly loved how Nash created an 'out with the old, and in with the new' with everything in Jo's life, from characters to life circumstances, which is certainly relatable to anyone and everyone. I came to really admire Jo's resilience and head strong mentality when it came to dealing with difficult characters and situations in her life (like her ex Michael). While he was really insufferable, other characters such as Jo's mum, and new friends like Seamus, show you there really is good in the world, and it all starts with the close knit circle you surround yourself with. That is where happiness starts for anyone, and it really is okay to put yourself first and be the main character of your life. This tale made me feel happy, hopeful and I am glad to have read it!

Jo Jenkins is on her own, since her husband, Michael, went off with her best friend.

Finding life on her own difficult and rather lonely, Jo is shocked to find out that she has been left a house in Cornwall, a house that belonged to Michael’s aunt!

Jo takes the bull by the horns and moves to Cornwall, but the house isn’t quite how she remembered it. With local hottie, Seamus, helping her with the house, Jo is enjoying her time in Cornwall.

Making new friends changes Jo’s life in so many ways. Will Cornwall be her forever home?

When I found out the author was bringing out a new series, I had a huge smile on my face, as I knew it was going to be good. Kim Nash is definitely one of my go to authors.

The story is romantic, funny, and at times, emotional.
I loved Jo, I laughed and cried with her. Her new friends are wonderful characters and brought out the best in each other.

This is a story that had me engaged throughout and I flew through the pages to the end.

My thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.

Loved this so much. A really easy quick read.

Jo Jenkins has divorced and has recently been left a cottage by the sea in the will of her ex husbands aunt. Deciding to move in she soon realises that it needs more work than she thought. Determined to throw herself into everything that comes her way she meets new friends, new relationships and new beginnings. The story follows Jo as she navigates her new surroundings, her new friendships and her ex!

This was a lovely read and had a bit of everything in it. It would make a perfect holiday read.

I love this author and can always be guaranteed reading a book full of love, life, warmth and humour when I pick up one of her books! This book takes us to down to a picturesque Cornish village called Sandpiper Shore. The main character, Jo Jenkins, has just gone through a divorce after her husband leaves her for her best friend. Her two adult daughters have their own busy lives, and Jo feels a bit lonely and redundant from what her life used to be like. One day, out of the blue, she gets a telephone call from a solicitor for her ex-husband's late Aunty June. In her Will, June has left Jo her seaside cottage where Jo, her husband and her daughters used to holiday many years before. Could this be a sign for Jo to start a new life just for herself?

OMG, this book was fabulous! I've read all the books this author has written, and I know I say it every time, but this book was definitely my favourite! It just seems every new book gets better and better! Jo Jenkins is a lovely character and one which you can definitely connect with. I love how she is a middle aged woman and you can really understand the whole "mid-life" women's problems that Jo finds herself going through. You do have to feel sorry for Jo though, her confidence and self esteem have really taken a battering with the divorce, and from what I read her family (apart from her mum!) treat her so badly so it's no wonder she feels like she does! I certainly don't blame her for moving to Sandpiper Shore, and even though the house needs a lot more work on it than she thought, the view that was described when she looks out of her windows certainly makes up for everything! Something else that makes up for everything is her neighbour Seamus Shaffernakker!! He is certainly just as attractive as the view, and I loved the flirting and banter between him and Jo!

The storyline flows so well! I was reading a couple of books together, but I have to admit that by the time I was about 3 chapters in I knew I'd have to put the other book down and concentrate purely on this book!! I was completely hooked into Jo's story and didn't want to miss a single thing! The other characters in the story are so likeable (apart from Jo's ex-husband who is a bit of a tosser!) and it was lovely for Jo to find new friends who were so supportive of her. Whilst it is a romantic read, there is also a twist in the tale and a little bit of mystery surrounding Aunty June and a mysterious suitcase of hers. I loved this part of the storyline and thought it was all cleverly written, tying all the ends in together!

This was a wonderful read full of heart-warming moments and lots of love, life and laughter! The location was to die for and I'd definitely wouldn't have to be asked twice if I was offered a house down on the Cornish Coast! As I read, I could just picture myself alongside Jo (or preferably Seamus!) sitting on the decking, glass of wine looking at the perfect sea view! Focussing on friendships, courage and new starts this book gives you everything you could possibly need! Completely adorable! Would definitely recommend!

A new book by Kim Nash is always cause for celebration coz as a reader I know its going to be fun, uplifting full of great characters and also have an element of surprise in it

And I wasn’t wrong with this first in a new series set in the idyllic Cornish village of Sandpiper Shore

Jo Jenkins is about to receive the surprise of her life via a will from her ex hubby’s Aunty aunty who in recent years became a recluse, there is a big history between them from when she was with Michael who she cant decide if she pines for or detests even more…….she needs a change in her life and although her 2 have to say spoilt unlikeable daughters think she is mad she decides to go for the opportunity she has been given

And then the fun and games start……as she makes a new beginning and life with new friends,a new love interest and a wonderful sounding Friday club ( I will let you find that out….) and of course all does not go to plan but she battles everything that is thrown her way

Squidgy and yummy and totally comforting I enjoyed everything about this book that shows it’s never too late to go for your dreams and put YOU first, fab get away from it all read
