The story weaves together suspense and emotional depth which created a compelling narrative that explored themes of trust, betrayal, and marriage. The characters were well-developed and the novel is fast-paced and easy to read. The plot was a bit predictable but nonetheless, it was entertaining and thought-provoking.

Big thanks to @thrillerbookloversthepulse and @netgalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review! I was completely hooked during the first half—the pacing was spot on, and the flashbacks featuring Emilia, one of our main female characters, kept me intrigued and eager to learn more about her. Our male lead, Thomas, was a textbook Grade-A narcissist, and I mean that in the most compelling way. I also really appreciated the use of multiple POVs, shifting timelines, and the depth given to Emilia’s backstory. However, once the “shocking twist” hit, things took a bit of a turn for me. The second half didn’t feel as tightly constructed as the first. It almost seemed like the groundwork laid early on was ignored in favor of an ending that felt a bit too far-fetched. That said, I will give credit where it’s due—the ending had a sweetness to it that helped redeem things a bit. Overall, I liked the book enough to want to check out more from this author. If you’re a thriller fan like me, it’s definitely worth picking up—you might enjoy the twist more than I did!

I absolutely loved this. Some of the twists I saw coming and the big reveal near the end was a huge surprise. The final part was totally unexpected too. It was great to read a book with such an exciting end.

If you enjoy fast-paced domestic thrillers with layered deception, emotional tension, and strong audio narration, The Wife’s Silence is a smart, binge-worthy pick. It doesn’t demand deep empathy with its characters—but for a twisty, page-turning ride with a well-produced audiobook, it checks all the boxes.

From the first chilling line, this thriller traps you in a world where every truth hides a darker lie. The tension coils tighter with each chapter, daring you to breathe. Its ending doesn't just surprise—it stalks your thoughts long after the final page.

The Wife's Silence, by Amanda McKinney.... WOW. What did I just read!? The prologue pulls you in (yes, read it first), and you better grab hold of something because you are about to be pulled into a wild and twisty ride. Short chapters, an easy-to-follow story, and the unpredictable nature of the novel will keep you engaged, and you'll find yourself finished before you know it.

I appreciate NetGalley and the publisher for providing the ARC ebook that I read and reviewed. All opinions are my own.

3.8/5 Stars (rounded up) - Thank you to NetGalley & the publishers for an ARC & ALC of ‘The Wife’s Silence’ by Amanda McKinney. From the synopsis and the first 10–15 minutes of the audiobook, I was getting strong ‘Verity’ meets ‘Behind Closed Doors’ meets ‘The Housemaid’ vibes—all of which were 5-star reads for me. The first half of the book was solid, with a compelling and well-constructed storyline. I didn’t see the major twist coming (despite having a few theories), which was a pleasant surprise—even if I was a little disappointed that none of my guesses were right!

Unfortunately, the second half didn’t quite land for me. It wrapped up a bit too neatly, and I found myself craving more intensity—more drama, more tension, more thrill. Still, it was an enjoyable read overall; I think I just hoped for a bit more punch in the latter half.

Thank you, Storm Publishing for the ARC

This book is wonderful! The chapters are short, and they leave you on little cliffys that just make you want to keep reading! It's told in several POV's and it goes between the past and the present. I wasn't confused at all; I was just so wrapped into this book! I would highly recommend it to those who love thrillers, especially those that are fast paced. Please keep in mind that there is DV in this book. I didn't see the twist coming, but it was amazing!

Dual timeline of Emilia's life kept me fully immersed in this page turner. Full of twists and turns and jaw dropping ups and downs, this is the perfect definition of a thriller. Amanda is quickly becoming an auto buy author for me because i devour her books.

Thank you Storm Publishing for the ARC

This book should have come with a trigger warning for narcissistic abuse from a partner.
Saying that, it morbidly sucks you in like a black hole. Piecing together the timelines and alternate POVs is harrowing, gut-wrenching, and so worth it. A story of betrayal, revenge, and second chances borne of grief, blood and calculation.

With this book I really struggled to connect with the characters. It was confusing at times. I did like it but I couldn't say I loved it.

Lucy. Now

{ Like an eager teenager in a circle of gossip, I'm on pins and needles when I realize Consuelo is going to divulge the details surrounding Emilia and Thomas's missing son.
We're back in the kitchen now, preparing Thomas's afternoon snack. The room is warm, filled with the comforting scent of brewing coffee and the soft chop of a knife against a cutting board. Consuelo is slicing strawberries while I arrange cubes of cheese on a charcuterie board. The marble countertop is covered in containers of fresh fruit, prosciutto, nuts and crackers..
“So,” I prompt, stealing a grape from the pile.
“James.”
Consuelo lets out a long breath. “Yes. Thomas and Emilia had a son.”
Had. }

Lucy Greer, like most people, found herself with a business that was unable to cope when the Covid pandemic hit, things were so bad she was forced to live in her beloved car. Unable to deal with the shame, she decided to travel for a job she was lucky enough to get, as a live-in caregiver. It isn't a job most people would like but Lucy couldn't be picky right now.

The first time Lucy met Emilia she looked like a delicate porcelain doll, sitting in an armchair, looking out over the spectacular view, from her bedroom window, in the house made of glass. If Lucy thought coming here would be easy.. she was very wrong.

There is something poisonous in The Caine's residence.
The housekeeper has secrets but whether they are her own, or those of her employer, Lucy can't tell and then there is Meredith. It doesn't take much to see what she's thinking. What about the son that mysteriously disappeared and the charming suave Mr Caine who everybody loves?

It seems to be centered around the beautiful Emilia who is a prisoner of and in her own body. It doesn't take long for the truth to rear its ugly head and with it the true colours of the people Lucy is surrounded by are revealed.

OH MY GOD. I did not see anything that this book had coming. I loved every moment of it, not only did I guess early on what was going to happen and sit back smug, thinking I knew what was coming, only for my mind to be blown as the twists came thick and fast. I honestly was left shocked until laughter! The little easter eggs that were there I completely overlooked.

EVERYTHING made so much sense once I realised what was going on, the way Amanda managed to weave the storyline in and out of complicated traps, twists, turns and dead ends was a work of pure genius. I have found a new author to love.
I cannot wait to read more. Please write books forever!

A huge thank you to Amanda McKinney, Storm and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and relay my honest feedback. ::|

Starting off with one of heck of a bang, The Wife’s Silence had me in the palm of Ms. McKinney’s talented hand. With a deep sense of foreboding, compelling characters, and a sinister feel, I quickly got pulled into the claustrophobia of it all. It’s no wonder that my friends with Thriller Book Lovers: The Pulse loved this one, too. You see, alongside a plot that was as much a fast-paced thrill ride as it was an exploration of self-worth and survival, the atmosphere delivered a book that was beyond clever. And that’s before I even got to the twist to end all twists. Turning the plot on its head, it gave me a Freida McFadden vibe with a plot straight out of a B.A. Paris novel.

Then there were the characters. Told via multiple POVs, we were treated to a couple I grew to root for as well as one I just loved to hate. One big forewarning, however. Don’t trust a single one of them even the tiniest bit. Suspicious is an understatement when it comes to this small cast. Just the same, they all also felt wholly true-to-life thanks to the genuine dialogue and their well-developed personas. Altogether it made me fall into this book in no time at all as I became immersed in the short, cliffhanger chapters, which had me reading at speed. After all, there was no telling when the next shoe was going to drop with complete and utter shocking precision.

The only thing that bugged me even the teeniest bit was how almost sickly sweet the conclusion was. Ending with a soul-satisfying last chapter that maybe went just a bit too far, it didn’t fit in with the rest of the story in my humble opinion. Then again, it did wrap up everything with a nice, pretty little bow, so perhaps ignore my one gripe all things considered.

All said and done, though, Ms. McKinney has clearly done it yet again. With no end to the underhanded manipulations, gross betrayals, and unbridled deceit, not only were the characters tricked and cajoled, but I was thrilled to find that it also extended to the reader. In fact, I was so swept up by this one that I read it in one single sitting in only a matter of hours. Coming in at under 300 pages, it was a quick, easy read that had me losing all track of time. So if you’re looking for a binge-worthy read complete with palpable tension, head-snapping twists, and nonstop suspense, you don’t need to look any further as you’ve found it right here. Rating of 4.5 stars.

Thank you to Amanda McKinney, Storm Publishing, and NetGalley for my physical and digital copies. All opinions are my own.

The Wife's Silence by Amanda McKinney

Lots of twists, some almost UNBELIEVABLE! Still, this was an enjoyable read.

Lucy Greer is at the end of her rope. Desperate to pick up the broken pieces of her life—and atone for past mistakes—she finds herself on the doorstep of successful entrepreneur, Thomas Caine, who has hired her to care for his ailing wife. But beneath the polished surface, something is terribly wrong.
It all began when the Caines’ teenage son vanished years ago. The housekeeper has theories, the ex-wife has secrets. But Emilia, now trapped in her silent prison, knows the darkest truth of all. Now, with Lucy’s help, the carefully constructed lies within this beautiful home are about to shatter.

Amanda McKinney has become one of my must read-authors and she has done it again with this one! It’s fast-paced and full of unexpected twists. It had me hooked from the start and I raced through it two sittings. From the start, I was trying to put together the pieces to figure out what was happening. The story alternates between two timelines and different points of view, coming together to create a gripping story that you won’t want to put down!
