I started off thinking this book was going to be the typical “incapacitated wife with an abusive husband” story but it was so much more. I flew through this suspenseful book, not wanting to wait to find out what was going to happen next. A missing illegitimate son, suicide attempts, lots of drama!
Really enjoyed this quick read

Amanda McKinney’s The Wife’s Silence is an absolute masterpiece in the realm of psychological domestic thrillers. From the very first page, I was completely engrossed, unable to put the book down as each chapter pulled me deeper into its intricate web of suspense and intrigue.
The characters are exceptionally well-crafted, each layered with complexities that make them both relatable and enigmatic. McKinney’s ability to delve into the psychological depths of her characters adds a rich, thrilling edge to the narrative, making every twist and turn feel both shocking and authentic.
The pacing is flawless—fast enough to keep your heart racing, yet detailed enough to build a world brimming with tension and mystery. The plot unfolds with such precision and excitement that I found myself saying, "just one more chapter," until I’d reached the final, breathtaking conclusion.
The Wife’s Silence isn’t just a book; it’s an experience. Riveting, thought-provoking, and haunting in the best possible way. This is a must-read for anyone who loves a well-crafted thriller. Amanda McKinney has outdone herself, and I can’t recommend this book highly enough!

The silent wife, Emilia, has been rendered mute since her stroke, a haunting presence in her own life. Her husband, Thomas, engages a live-in aid, Lucy, to tend to Emilia's relentless needs, but as Lucy navigates the Caines' eerie household, unsettling truths lurk beneath the surface. Something is deeply amiss, and things are not quite adding up. This gripping tale is a whirlwind of unexpected twists that left me reeling. The character development is exceptional, revealing the dark and intricate tapestry of Emilia and Thomas's family history. This book is nothing short of a page-turner; each chapter amplifies the pulse of uncertainty, igniting nerves and curiosity. It’s a thrilling rollercoaster of emotions that had me at the edge of my seat. I’m giving this book a solid 4 out of 5 stars.

I loved this fast-paced book. I could feel so much pain, fear, and betrayal coming from the pages. The sad thing is, this work of fiction could very well be someone's reality—a sliver of it is most people's reality—and that's what makes it unputdownable.

THE WIFE’S SILENCE is an amazing story with plot twists that will catch you by surprise. It’s a fast-paced thriller that will enthrall you and keep you so thoroughly involved that you will find it hard to put down. Throughout the story, we are flawlessly shown what happened in the past that led to the present scenes, which slowly draws all the elements together into a captivating and completely engaging tale. It’s one I guarantee you do not want to miss!!

Holy cow. Just when I thought this thriller could not get any more bizarre, another wicked twist comes rolling down the tracks. This was book was emotional, dramatic, chilling and mind boggling. Red flags were flapping everywhere as I dived into this book headfirst only to come up for air when I read the final page.
Lucy Greer needs a break. Accepting a position as a live-in nanny seems like the perfect answer. However, she is shocked to find that Thomas Caine has not hired her take care of his child (as she assumed), but his wife, Emilia, who had a stroke. Emilia is trapped in her body, as she cannot speak nor walk and needs 24 hour care. Lucy immediately feels the tension in this house. There are some weird things going on. Things that give you goose bumps, but you cannot quite put your finger on it.
Thomas is one of several extremely unlikable characters. Some of those, including Thomas, will make your blood boil. The story goes back and forth from past to present, and each chapter belongs to a particular character. The story behind everything is slowly built so you will understand how Emilia got where she is today. By the time I got to that point, I was livid.
This binge worthy page turner ticked with suspense and anxiety, and was cleverly written to shock the reader. Mission accomplished. Five stars hardly seems enough for this psychological thriller.
Thank you to Storm Publishing and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

If you liked “The Perfect Marriage” you HAVE to read this new book by Amanda McKinney!! “The Wife’s Silence” is everything a reader wants in a thriller suspense novel. My heart rate was elevated in the first chapter and stayed that way through the end. Multiple times I was left scratching my head asking “what in the world is going on?!” You get multiple perspectives and insights into this crazy house of horrors and none of them line up. It kept me engaged and reading through the very end, I never knew what was coming. My first McKinney novel and definitely won’t be my last.
Thanks Storm Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity!

This is a gripping and unputdownable domestic psychological thriller. There are multiple perspectives and the book has been narrated in dual timelines. You will find yourself completely gripped from page one and till the end. Expect secrets and twists throughout the book. A manipulative husband and secrets that torn apart their marriage. But then more secrets and truth gets unveiled. There are shocking twists and horrifying secrets. And characters are not how they appear to be.
Thanks to the Publisher

This book initially has 'Verity' vibes, but it very quickly comes into its own. All is not what it seems and just over half way through the book you are hit with a brilliant twist! I did not see it coming at all. I love the author's style of writing and when describing the 'glass house' and surroundings you really can visualise yourself being there. The characters are believable and I really warmed to Lucy and Emilia. I highly recommend this book and will definitely be checking out others written by her.

An addicting & bingeable read!! Every Amanda McKinney novel I’ve read has sucked me in, kept me engaged throughout, and left me completely satisfied.
I devoured this dark psychological thriller. It had all the elements of a gripping thriller-deception, vengeance, and the mask we wear to hide the truth. The Wife’s Silence followed Lucy who was at the rock bottom and desperate to pick up the pieces of her broken life. She was hired by a successful entrepreneur, Thomas, to care for his ailing wife, Emilia. But there was something wrong beneath the polished surface. Years ago, a teenage boy vanished and Lucy tried to piece together the housekeepers theories, the ex wife’s secrets, and why Emilia was trapped in silence.
I loved how this story was told through multiple perspectives which allowed for a deeper understanding of the characters motivations, feelings, and the deceit they faced. This story also alternated between two different timelines, then and now. This exposed the connections between the characters and events while providing a deeper understanding for the characters; more specifically, one could see how past events shaped the characters' present actions and motivations. Additionally, the back-and-forth between timelines created a sense of mystery and suspense. I loved having to constantly question each characters motive and watch how their behaviors evolved over time.
Overall, Amanda McKinney continues to be one of my favorite authors in the psychological mystery-thriller genre. The Wife’s Silence was another solid 4 star utterly addictive psychological thriller!
Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

This is a good book! Lucy, who is living in her car in California, takes a job in Georgia as a caretaker for a woman who suffered a stroke. Emilia, married to Thomas, is pretty much confined to her bed and unable to speak. The story is told from different perspectives, easy to follow past and present. This is a compelling story with twists I did not see coming. Recommended.

This was the first book that I have ever read by this author so I went into it completely blind as to writing style and themes. I did really enjoy this book though and once I started it I was completely engrossed. The book is all about our main character, Lucy. Lucy's life has completely fallen apart recently and she is determined to get things back on track. Due to her recent lack of employment thanks to COVID when she is magically presented with an invitation to take care of a man's wife, Emilia, who needs help after she suffered a stroke. Even though this job requires consistent care and attention Lucy jumps on it thinking that anything is better than nothing and this might not really be as difficult as it seems. I loved the tension that was felt throughout this book. While this theme is something that I have read about a few times before by different authors it is one that I never get tired of reading about and while I thought I had everything figured out from the beginning there were so many twists that it really kept me guessing. This book not only jumps between characters but also time frames to before Emilia had her stroke and reveals a troubling marriage filled with fear, doubt, and infidelity. It isn't long before Lucy starts to feel that there is something going on behind Emilia's silence and it might not all be related to the stroke. The more time she spends with Emilia and the more time she spends in the house the more she discovers much to her horror. I loved this book because it was full of secrets and mystery. I loved the duel time lines and points of view but my favorite one had to be Emilia's. I was horrified and mesmerized by what was happening to her and I had to get to the bottom of things. This is a book that will leave you taking with a story that will get your blood pumping and your heart racing. There were many twists in this story that left me wide eyed and speechless. But it was the tension and suspense that the reader felt into the beginning and the fact that it never left up was what made this story great for me. Fascinating read that I'm so glad I was able to check out. There we are so many story lines and plot twists and I loved every moment of them it was almost like reading a detective novel where everything is on a board and linked with stings. This is the kind of story that you stay up all night with and I do confirm that once you start this book you will be completely unable to put it down. There were so many bombshells in this book that I don't know how I was continually left mind blown however I was. Right when I thought the story was at one hundred it got even higher. This is the kind of book that the thriller genre was made for, as well as the kind of book that will leave you wishing they were more hours in the day. This is a must read for any thriller lover or anyone that just wants to be a part of what is going to be a best seller. I can't wait to read more by this author because I might have just found another favorite. The ending will completely shock you and shake you to the core I don't believe I've ever read anything as surprising as this one. Fantastic job however do clear your schedule if you want to check this one out because it is impossible to put down. Thank you netgalley and storm publishing for this book I can't wait to see it hit shelves and I can't wait for everyone to love it as much as I do.

Thomas Caine, a wealthy and powerful businessman, hires Lucy to care for his ill wife, Emilia. But from the moment Lucy arrives at their large, remote estate, she senses something isn’t right. The Caines’ son mysteriously disappeared years ago, and no one is willing to talk about it. Emilia doesn’t speak, but is she truly mute, or is she keeping dark secrets? Nothing can prepare you for the twists that follow.
Lucy is an absolute badass. She’s not only a compassionate and dedicated caregiver to Emilia, but she also fights fiercely for her. I truly loved her character. On the other hand, Thomas was a deeply flawed man, cold, controlling, and a terrible husband.
This thriller completely blew me away. It instantly became one of my top reads of the year. From the very first page, I was hooked. The pacing is fast, the suspense is relentless, and the twists just keep coming. I was guessing until the very end.
I also loved the short, punchy chapters and the way the story was told through multiple perspectives and timelines. It added so much depth and intensity. I was fully engaged the entire time, desperate to uncover the truth about Emilia and that ending? Absolutely jaw-dropping.
Amanda McKinney, you delivered a stunning psychological thriller. My heart was racing the whole time. What a wild, unforgettable ride!
Thank you so much to the author @amandamckinneyauthor & @thrillerbookloversthepulse for my gifted e-ARC!

Gripping, shocking, thrilling and dramatic, Amanda McKinney delivered with The Wife's Silence! Coming in at under 300 pages, The Wife's Silence is a fast paced, page turner which kept me entertained and glued to the pages! Lucy Greer is desperate for a job and is overjoyed when Thomas Caine, a successful entrepreneur, hires her to care for Emilia, his wife who suffered a stroke and is mainly bedridden. It soon becomes apparent that things are not as they seem in this home.
This book is told in two timelines- one being when Emilia is younger and showcases her relationship with her husband, Thomas. The other timeline is in the present as Lucy has been hired to care for Emilia after her stroke. Just when I thought I knew where this book was headed, Amanda McKinney threw in a shocking twist! There were many twists, secrets, and lies in this roller coaster ride of a book. I enjoyed the pace, the tension, and the shocking revelations!

Thank you Storm Publishing efor a digital copy of this book. The opinions are my own and freely given.
Lucy Greer is hired as a "nanny" to take care of Emilia the wife of Thomas. Emilia had a stroke that left her immobile and unable to talk. Emilia's and Thomas son disappeared years ago and this threw Emilia into her illness.
Along the way Thomas' ex-wife shows up and comes to stay at the house. Lucy doesn't trust her. As Lucy's time with Emilia stretches, Lucy is more determined to protect Emilia.
This book... I couldn't guess half of the things that were happening. I was pleasantly surprised as things started to unravel. I would recommend this book (in fact I already have told my friend to look for it).

My goodness. So at first the book was giving me The Wife Upstairs by Freida McFadden and The Silent Woman by Minka Kent vibes. However, as the story unfolded it took somewhat of a different turn. I really enjoyed this book. It was a great thriller with a perfect pace that kept me guessing.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this arc.

When Lucy applies for a job looking after a woman who suffered a stroke, she feels lucky to live in a mansion but things seem a bit off. The husband doesn't seem to really care about his wife, why is she on so many medications for a stroke? Questions keep piling up until the secrets are revealed.
The story had me interested from page one until the first twist, I wasn't really sure how I felt about it and almost stopped reading but I continued until the end. Don't get me wrong the story is twisty and suspenseful but I'm still not sure how I feel about it, but I did enjoy reading reading it and will try other books by this author. Thanks to Netgalley and Storm publishing for letting me read this ARC.
