I have always enjoyed this series, and this one did not disappoint. Tia and Henry have a sordid history, and she wants nothing more than to be rid of him forever. She even accidentally erased all of his memories of her, which would have worked out if they weren't forced together by their now-merged businesses. Poor Henry was genuinely so confused about why Tia hated him and why he could feel this magical spark between this so-called stranger. Their romance was adorable, and I enjoyed the witchy aspect of this as always. The fake dating seemed to come naturally, and their romance and connection were very believable. I will say that Tia could be a little frustrating at times, especially with her tendency to be overly emotional and hot-headed. Henry was an outstanding balance to her because he was truly laid-back and chill, which made them work well together eventually. Overall enjoyable read, and I will be recommending this one!

🪄❄️ Season of the Witch – Sophie H. Morgan

What’s worse than running into your ex at a Christmas party? Faking a relationship with him... after you accidentally cursed him. 💀🎄

Tia’s magic misfire wiped Henry’s memory—and now he doesn’t remember their breakup, the drama, or the hex. But sparks are definitely still flying. Fake dates, winter magic, and a second chance neither of them saw coming? Yes, yes, yes. ✨

What you’ll get:

💘 Second chance + fake dating
🪄 Witches, spells & a snowy winter setting
🎠 Holiday charm + carnival magic
🔥 Chemistry that could melt snow

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It’s cozy, witchy, romantic, and just a little chaotic—the perfect read to kick off spooky season or curl up with when the snow starts falling. ❄️

Sophie Morgan does it again with another witchy tale in the Toil and Trouble trilogy and this time it’s set during Christmas 🎁

Tia and Henry are exes who are now enemies. When trying to outdo each other with spells, Tia’s backfires and oops, Henry now doesn’t remember their former relationship. 😅

Now they find themselves staying at an English manor where they must pretend to be madly in love but maybe there isn’t much pretending?

Tia and Henry were hilarious together. I’m so glad we finally get to see Tia’s story. The chemistry with Henry and Tia is off the charts. Seeing them rediscover what they once had was a delight!

I was so excited for this book that I kept checking when it would be coming out.
I can not express how different each book is in this trilogy. I never get bored of them because I really don't know what twist and turn the characters are going to take in their route to love. This book seemed to be more serious than the others but the beauty of Christmas seemed to lighten the mood. I really want to go to the house/town described in the book during Christmas time.
Tia and Henry made me laugh so much because of their serious attitude. The spice scenes definitely did not disappoint!
The writing is so easy going and flows from one scene to another flawlessly. I can't wait to read more from Sophie Morgan!!

Thank you to NetGalley, Sophie H. Morgan, and Harlequin - Romance for the e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed the third installment in the Toil and Trouble series. It was a good second-chance romance. We follow Tia and Henry as they navigate working together, hoping to land an investor that will be a good fit for their merged family company. Both of their parents are pressuring them to come out on top. Tensions are even higher since they had a horrible breakup that they both seem to remember differently. I do feel like, at times, Tia and Henry were frustrating main characters because they have both made mistakes. I felt like Henry wasn't truly listening to what Tia had to say. I enjoyed the sprinkles of Christmas in this witchy rom-com. It's perfect for people who want a dash of Christmas in their rom-com. I would recommend it!

This has to be one of my favorite books I've read this year. I loved this book. It pulled me in right from the first page.

A solid installment to the trilogy, though I missed the presence of Tia's friends for the majority of the narrative as she traveled overseas to secure an investment with lover-turned-enemy Henry. Tia's hot-headedness and hostility often felt unnecessarily over the top, but she thawed as the story evolved and became much more relatable with revelations about her past and family history. Henry likewise could have been more forthcoming with his emotions and their shared history. Many misunderstandings past and present suffered from severely lacking communication between the two leads, but that was clearly meant as part of the suspense. Overall an enjoyable read, if not my favorite style or romance built on equal parts passion and spite. Either way, I hope there will still be opportunity to return to the world of Toil and Trouble!

After loving The Witch is Back and De-Witched, I was SO excited to be invited to read the next Toil and Trouble romance - Season of the Witch. I'm a sucker for anything Christmas-themed and so I knew that this would be right up my street!

With their families having merged to run their business together, Henry Pearlmatter and Tia Hightower must learn to get along, despite a lot of deep seated resentment and lingering feelings between them after the end of their relationship. When a potion challenge goes wrong and Henry loses any memories connected with Tia, Tia wonders if this could be the clean slate they both need to start afresh. As his memories gradually start to return, Henry is keen to keep his cards close to his chest and find out Tia's thoughts on their dramatic breakup.

Taking the story out of Chicago and over to snowy England for this book added a whole different dimension to the characters and their story. The adorable picture postcard town of Westhollow is everything you'd want from a cosy winter romance, and I loved the chemistry between Tia and Henry as they put on a united front for their hosts, all while battling their simmering feelings for each other and dealing with their own personal demons. Tia is feisty and strong against Henry's chilled out vibe, and I thought the investment opportunity that they're working towards was a great way of bringing in that forced proximity and giving the story additional depth. I also love the friendship between Leah, Emma, and Tia - they're all such different characters but their support and love for one another is so important to the story.

This is a gorgeous, spicy, heartwarming second chance romance and I loved every second of reading it!

This was so cute.

Season of the Witch is the third instalment in the Toil and Trouble series- about three friends who own a witch themed bar together! Two of them witches and one human, this story follow Tia Hightower!

Tia and Henry dated once and it ended up in flames and now after years of hatred, their parents have merged their companies and they are forced to work together to land a big investor. Insert delicious fake dating scheme, amnesia and good old fashioned holiday cheer! This was so much fun and very festive! There's something about romances set during the holidays that really emphasize the magic of Christmas, it's so wholesome.

The chemistry between Henry and Tia was off the charts and I always love seeing the other book characters in the series! One of my favourite things in these kinds of series'. Leah and Emma were great and I hope that our new friend perhaps is the next book??

To anyone building their December TBR or just need a good ole' second chance romance. Please I implore you, pick up this book.

Set mostly at an English manor at Christmas-time as well as New Orleans, witch Tia has spent eight years hating her ex, warlock Henry. After their family business merge, they can't get away from each other. Through a series of events, a magical potion wipes Henry's memory of Tia, and they are forced for business reasons to spend a month at a potential investor's property posing as a couple. As they spend time together without Henry's memories of their relationship and breakup, Tia's walls begin to fall.

I loved seeing the third friend in the group get her romance, plus appearances of her friends! Tia and Henry have such intense chemistry that really hadn't gone away. Of course, once Henry's memories returned, they had to face why they broke up. The third act was a struggle, but important for them to figure out how to be in a relationship. While I enjoyed the epilogue, I felt like it left a few things open. So perhaps there is a fourth book planned, fingers crossed!

There are so many tropes to enjoy in this one:
✨ Second chance
✨ Magic / paranormal
✨ Enemies to Lovers
✨ One bed
✨ Forced proximity
✨ Fake relationship

Open door / spicy

4 / 5 stars

This was such a fun read! It was a light, festive, cozy romcom with a witch-twist. It follows Tia and Henry, who broke up 8 years ago but are now being forced into each other's company again because their families' businesses have merged. They need to secure funds from a wealthy investor, but at a party, a bet between them goes awry when Tia's potion makes Henry forget all about their feud and breakup. They have to pretend to be a couple when the investor invites them to his house for the holidays, much to Tia's frustration. Henry is charming and alluring, to Tia's chagrin, given that he has forgotten all of the reasons they broke up. He is determined to figure them out, but Tia isn't so willing to open her heart to him again. In the midst of all of the confused feelings, they've still got to act the part of the perfect couple if they want to make their parents happy and get the investment.

I had no trouble following along despite not having read the first two books in the series - everything we needed to know about prior dynamics was explained, which I appreciated!

I really enjoyed the banter between Tia and Henry; their romance, The pacing and build-up of the second-chance romance and story as a whole was great! The investment plotline underlying the romance of the book (including holiday events planned by Siddeley) was a great foundation to force the couple to interact, and we got to see how the romance built up and played out. Both of their characters were really well developed, and we got insight into both of their perspectives and motives! It was definitely intriguing to see how Henry evolved as he got more and more memories back.

I was pleasantly surprised with the depth of the messages in the book despite it being a light romcom-type book! There are twists at the end I didn't see coming, and I think that the story is simultaneously fun while also having meaningful themes about family, identity, vulnerability, and love.

There is lots of fun, banter, humor, and love to be found here! I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys fun/light romance books. It would be a great read to get into the holiday season!

I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for the author's future books!

My Thoughts

This holiday romance featuring a Witch and her Warlock ex is a perfect mixture of fun and seriousness combined.

An enemies to lovers second chance for a long overdue HEA.

Henry and Tia will separately and together make readers remember just how magical Christmas should be as we experience the holidays along with these characters as their fake relationship shifts into a real one.

I have to say of the three books so far this is my standout favorite, especially since it easily reads as a stand alone if one has not read the first two.

I also can truthfully identify with both main characters and their individual issues that caused them to walk away from each other and how hard it was to try again to make their relationship a lasting one.

Just proves how important good communication is to a relationship and as Tia kept pointing out that words alone are not enough if ones actions do not back up what is promised.

Like others I hope for a 4th pairing in a future book.

The third book in the Toil and Trouble series is a second chance romance with a magical twist. Throw in some amnesia and forced proximity for good measure. Good story, fun characters, and I loved reading more about the previous main characters as well.

Wondering if there will be a book 4? I have an idea of who it could be about too!

Thanks to @harlequinbooks for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. Watch for Season of the Witch to come out September 2, 2025.

This! This is the perfect cozy, witchy romance. On par with Sophie’s other witchy novels in this series, it has the perfect combination of witty banter, eat-them-up tropes, and twists and turns to keep you guessing. This author has become a must-read for me.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC! Love a good witchy romance and to have one set at the holidays is even better! I’m so in the mood for the season now.

Season of the Witch is the third book in the Toil and Trouble series and I enjoyed it. This enemies-to-lovers fantasy romance was an amusing Christmas tale and I was hooked until the end.

Henry and Tia were ex's who couldn't get along but were forced to work together in their family's merged company.

Their non-stop back and forth sparing was soon put to halt when Henry lost his memory due to a mishap in Tia's part, and they now had to pretend they were a couple for a potential investor who invited them to spend Christmas with him.

I enjoyed seeing these two rediscover the magic they once had, all while partaking in the fun Christmas activities. They had such intense chemistry and the steam when it came sure did sizzle.

Unfortunately there was a third act breakup which I could have done without, but it was fitting for these two. Alls well that ends well in this charming tale and I would recommend it to romance lovers.

Season of the Witch is a charming, magical romp that blends romance, humor, and witchy intrigue with delightful ease. Sophie H. Morgan introduces readers to a world where witches are real, bold, and full of personality. The protagonist is fiery and relatable, with just the right mix of sass and vulnerability, while the romantic interest provides plenty of swoon-worthy moments without overshadowing the heroine’s journey. The plot moves at a brisk pace, peppered with snappy dialogue and just enough magical mishaps to keep things entertaining. Perfect for fans of paranormal rom-coms, this is an enchanting, feel-good read that doesn’t take itself too seriously — and that’s exactly its charm.
