Short and fun fresh approach to Cinderella. Loved all of the alterations to the original story. The art itself feels inspired by classic Disney Channel animated series. Kids are sure to love the surprises in this from a fairy tale they know well! It definitely seems like the start to a series readers would come back for more of.

This was so much fun! I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this graphic novel, but seeing as I love fairytales I thought I’d give it a shot. The art style immediately made me feel nostalgic for books I read as a kid. I adored it! At the beginning it reminded me of Geronimo Stilton, which was one of my childhood favorites. I loved this twist on Cinderella. The character of Cinderella was so refreshing and inspiring. She has different dreams than we are used to seeing. The humor was excellent. The story had such a good message. I am so glad this will be a series because I definitely want more! This was simply charming and adorable!

I've always loved fairy tale twists and this is a fun start to a new series. Cinderella is getting her dream come true -- but it turns out she doesn't really want to marry the prince, who's kind of self-centered and annoying. She wants to run her own diner.
The story was funny and the pictures were hilarious, especially the expressions on people's faces. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this

It pulled off what the latest Cindrella movie wanted to do, but couldn't.
It felt a little rushed but I don't think it could be helped much. (Being a short children's graphic novel.)
The art and character designs were amusing and delightful; and the plot unfolded charmingly.

The Fairy Tale Fixers: Cinderella by Deborah Underwood and illustrated by Jorge Lacera is a fractured fairy tale graphic novel retelling of Cinderella for younger readers. Fairy is a mouse with magical powers styled like a noir detective and helps people who have a problem. When Mouse comes and demands his help so they can get more sleep, Fairy is on the case. But Cinderella doesn’t want the happily ever after Fairy assumes she wants.

The story opening in a very noir-style and then going in a very comedic direction is a fun choice that a lot of kids should be familiar with while also feeling new. The noir detective has been a big part of American culture for so long that pairing it with fairy tales is not new but it gives some intrigue for kids thinking they want to get into fantasy or mystery and already know if they are into the other genre. We don’t get a ton of the traditional noir stuff after the opening, but Fairy does retain that same personality where he’s convinced he’s right and doesn’t really ask questions throughout.

We have more of a fractured fairy tale here rather than a straight retelling. Cinderella has no actual interest in going to the ball or marrying a prince or even falling in love. She actually dreams of being a business owner, which somewhat mixes Cinderella with Disney’s The Princess and the Frog. The prince is also something of a dullard who won’t shut up. For any parents who don’t want to give their kids books that are putting a ton of value on romantic relationships, this has them covered.

The art style is more cartoon-y, reminding me of the style that was popular on Nick and Cartoon Network in the 90s or Disney in the 2000s. This lets the wacky hijinks feel wacky and over the top and the gags can be a bit more absurdist. I love a manga-style graphic novel as much as the next person, but I think this style works really well for what the author and illustrator were going for.

I would recommend this to young readers who love spins on fairy tales and fans of fairy tale graphic novels

This was a fun twist on a well known tale that children are sure to love. There are not many stories that take on the perspective of the fairy godmother and only one that makes the fairy godmother a private eye mouse, and it was super fun!

This looks really cute and has an interesting premise, however I'm unable to see any of it in the NetGalley reader.
