Thank you Netgalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

I think I loved the first one more than this one, although Doli endeared me more.  I relate to her scatterbrained way of multitasking, like she is always so overwhelmed, kinda like me 😅 She feels everything so much all at once and that makes her an imperfect yet lovable character.  The story had its ups and downs, but overall I really enjoyed it especially the ending.  The dessert recipes at the end as always, really nice touch.  Don't read without having your sugar fix first!  I can't wait for book 3 because it's Jez's story and I think it's gonna be a sapphic love story, grumpy x sunshine or grumpy x grumpy one and ooh it's gonna be good 🙂

This was a super cosy read! I loved the magic system and was rooting for the FMC the whole time. Her friends were so good and the chosen family theme was really heart warming. However, I think the entire story fell a bit flat for me and did not make me go through the book as fast as I thought I would. I wasn’t hooked at all. Some people may love this, it wasn’t for me.

I had picked up this book because I am a librarian, and if there is “librarian” in the title, I will read it! I did not realize this was book 2 of a series, but I can say, it can be read as a stand-alone! I will eventually go back and read the first book (possibly, it is hard for me to like cozy fantasy), but I am glad you can read it by itself or in the series! Overall, I gave the book 3.5 stars, but rounded up to a 4.
Anyways, this book follows Doli who works in a book store! She was gifted a box from her uncle, which ended up having a dragon’s egg in it! The story then follows Doli and her friends through the adventures with the dragon. I feel like adventure might be too much since there really is no adventure or action, it is a cozy fantasy. I am an action book girlie, so it was a little slow for me to get into, but I did end up enjoying the book, even though it was very calm throughout most of it.
I do have to say, J. Penner adding the recipes mentioned in the book was amazing, and I will for sure be making something from this book, it all seemed so good!
Thank you to NetGalley and J. Penner for this digital advanced reader’s copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!

“The strength inside your mind and body is great. It has always been there...brewing until the right time." She winked.

And the pun, all the funnier coming from the enormous, dignified being, made Doli laugh.

I’m so thankful to the author, J. Penner, and NetGalley for sending me an ARC of the Deluxe Edition of the second book in this series in exchange for an honest review.

Do you ever read a book that just feels like a warm hug? Or that cozy feeling where you’re curled up on the couch with your comfiest blanket, mug in hand with your favorite tea brewed to perfection and your furry sidekick nestled next to you on a perfect fall evening? That’s the vibe of this entire series.

We head back to Adenashire where this time we get to spend more time with Doli, the sunshine personified dwarf with tea magic and an apt for taking care of others. The whole gang is back with a few new characters especially a very nerdy and attractive but mysterious gargoyle named Sarson. Oh and a baby dragon. What’s not to love?

I really loved this book and it was exactly what I needed after the stress of an international move. I actually read it on the plane while my brave kitten was on my lap (in her carrier of course) for her first ever flight. It helped me escape reality without the stakes being so high that it stressed me out.

Doli’s parents and her relationship to them is a big part of this book as well. I always find myself proud of a FMC who finally stands up for herself especially to people who treat her a certain way “out of love”. I do wish however there had been a bit more backstory/explanation to their constant comments about how irresponsible she is. Like did she set the house on fire once because she got distracted while baking cookies? Their comments didn’t fully connect with what Doli’s character is. The same can be said for her “darker side”. I didn’t quite see a hard juxtaposition where she felt shame about it, but again, that wasn’t really the point of the story.

I loved her interactions with Sarson and how easy it was for her to relax. And how their relationship evolved in such a lovely way. I mean any man who loves books as much as he does is an automatic winner in my book. And seeing how much he cared about Evvy (the dragon) and her development was extra sweet. No hidden agenda, just a kind partner and friend.

I can’t recommend this series enough. The updated cover art is beautiful and I’ve already placed my pre-order to add it to my library.

3/5
I rated this a 3 because I can see how people would enjoy this, but it's not the genre for me, so I'm giving it a bonus star because of that.
This is a book 2, seem to be interconnected standalones
Cute, cozy, fantasy. They made overt callbacks to the previous book, but I didn’t feel that I was missing all that much by not reading it.

Baby dragon described as “clasping hands” and “making grabbing motions with hands” struck me as very odd, especially since the dragon “caught things with its back claws”. Does it just have human shaped hands in the front? Why not describe them as front claws or front paws? There are creatures in this world that have “paws” instead of hands… The badgers and the quokka for example are described as walking on two feet but having paws instead of hands…

After finishing this book, I decided that cozy fantasy is just not the genre for me. Sure, things “happened” but they didn’t really feel like they mattered? If that makes sense. I guess it would follow that since I don’t like slice of life, or settings in the modern day, that adding fantasy wouldn’t automatically mean that I would enjoy the genre. However, I do LOVE slice-of-life shojo manga, so idk… Since this is not my genre, I could be wrong, but I thought that the central focus would be on the characters and that the characters would be strong and that I’d like them, but the characters felt flat to me, and some interactions forced (especially the romance… cringy and awkward to me).

I was taken in by the cover of this one, but it’s safe to say that I will not be continuing with the series (or going back to read the first one… everything was summarized in this book so no need…). I also will not be buying physical copies.

If you like cozy fantasies with weird (and random) magical and anthropomorphized animals, then you’d like this book.

This series is always super cozy and cutesy, nothing serious some slight drama but just nice cozy fantasy vibes. I did want a bit more on Doli’s magic, the tea magic was nice but I really wanted some cool tea recipes or anything else since her magic is about this.

I also wanted more personality from Sorsen, he felt lacking to the more developed Doli. Then the ending felt rushed and I wish we got more story on the backend, since the dragon part was more interesting than parts with Doli’s parents.

After competing in the Langheim Baking Battle and making friends with the other contestants, dwarf Doli Butterbuckle decides to settle in Adenashire. She finds work at the “It’s About Tome” bookshop and shares the apartment above the shop with fellow contestant named Jez, a fennex. She settles into her new life, but something is missing. Doli left home hoping to find her place, she loves her family, but she doesn’t share their mining magic, her magic is conjuring tea and putting people at ease – things her family just don’t understand. When she receives a box from her parents, she discovers that it is an inheritance from her uncle. The box contains a necklace, a vase and a dragon egg, but it isn’t until after she opens it that Jez recalls a letter that was with the box – a letter from her parents informing her they will be arriving the next day to open the box – oops! Things just go from bad to worse, she is immediately stressed about her parents visit and to make matters worse – the egg is hatching!!

But not everything is bad, because just before her life got turned upside down, she met Saron, a gargoyle and was instantly captivated. And as luck would have it, Saron seems to know quite a bit about dragons and offers to help her. Help she is grateful for once her dragon hatches. The pink baby dragon is adorable and informs Doli that her name is Evvy and that she has chosen Doli to be her guardian. Let the adventure begin!!

This was a cute, well-written, coming of age story with wonderful characters and lots of magic. It was easy to get sucked into this book and the author did an amazing job with building the world of Adenashire. Doli was definitely the star of the show, and her story is filled with friendship, insecurity, magic, a low-key romance, personal relationships, lots of diversity, finding oneself and lots of love. I was hoping for a romantasy, but this story has a definite YA feel, however, it was a fun read, and I am looking forward to reading the first book in the series while waiting for the next installment.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing this ARC 💕

This is a stunningly cosy fantasy following Doli who has just inherited a dragon egg from her illusive uncle. With her parents making a surprise visit and a suspicious new friend on the scene, chaos ensues as Doli’s baby dragon hatches.

This was so fun!! I loved the dynamic between Doli and her parents and the evolution of their relationship as the book goes on. It also has a great supporting cast of characters (I can’t wait to read more of this series to see their stories!) and the world building was so interesting! I love the diverse group of fairytale/fantasy creatures and the way the author writes painted such a warm picture in my head. And the little romance subplot was so so so cute!!

Doli Butterbuckle, a people-pleasing sunshine dwarf, has moved to the small town of Adenashire, to get away from her overbearing parents and their expectations. Which is why it's such a bother and when her parents arrive soon after the delivery of her uncle's inheritance. He sent her a very ugly vase and a very rare dragon egg... with no explanation for either. The egg cracks immediately and Doli's life changes without warning.

Why I started this book: Requested the book based on the title alone.

Why I finished it: Finished in a day because it was such a calming book. Cozy fantasy is the focus on the mundane details of even a fantasy life. And there is something magical about the promise that all your problems can be solved if you have enough support from your friends.

This book is very cute and most definitely cozy.

If you like a cozy fantasy with a slow burn and found family, then this book is most definitely for you!

Thank you NetGalley for granting me access to this e book in exchange for an honest review.

Pure fun and a purely sweet read, I adored A Fellowship of Librarians & Dragons. The friendships, found family, the slow burn, Doli and Evvy, the bebe dragon, all the baking (and recipes at the end of the book!).

I would suggest reading A Fellowship of Bakers & Magic first, or else you might feel a little lost during your time with this.

AFoL&D was a charming read, and if you love cozy fantasy with low drama, look no further.
I am absolutely looking forward to reading the third title in the series 🙂

A Fellowship of Librarians & Dragons is the second book in the Adenashire series. This book follows Doli who is a dwarf that finds herself unexpectedly in possession of a dragon and way over her head. When a new, mysterious person shows up in town, he offers to help and finds herself drawn to him more and more.
This series is so cozy to read and I love it so much. This is the second book in. the series I have picked up and been lucky enough to get an ARC for. I absolutely loved the fact that his book made me so relaxed and made me feel so happp when I was reading it.
This book really was so fast for me to read. I was able to fly through this book when I was reading it because it was so good and such a quick read. I loved seeing all the characters from the previous book in this series and to see Doli again living her life.
Watching her relationship with her parents was really difficult as they struggle to accept who she is and the hcoices she made but I really lvoed seeing her come into her own. She stands up for hwo she is and I loved that for her. I also really loved her relatioshihp with the dragon that she gets gifted and I thought they were so funny.
Overall, if you are looking for a quick, cozy fantasy read, definitely pick up this book and the series. It was amazing! I can't wait to read more.

As delightfully cute and cozy as expected. And a baby dragon sweet enough to give you a toothache. Doli and her friends are a nice little found family. (Didn't realize it was second in the series and I'm kind of mad my library doesn't have the first.) Evvy is absolutely adorable and I'll take 14 of the little baby dragons please.

The bonus chapter was very sweet and made me tear up thinking about times with my own grandparents when I was a kid. (They really are the best aren't they?). And it's cool how she gives recipes at the end too.

I devoured this book as fast as the first in the scrumptious cozy fantasy series. Doli and and Evvy’s relationship was the true love story in this one. I adored the found family and healing we got with Doli’s story, and I can’t wait to read Jez’s in the next book.

A Fellowship of Librarians & Dragons by J. Penner is the second book in the Adenashire Cozy Fantasy series, a charming romance set in the enchanted town of Adenashire. Doli Butterbuckle, a dwarf, works at the local bookstore, reading romance novels on her off time and spreading sunshine with her personality.

Life takes an unexpected turn when Doli inherits a baby dragon, a rare and highly sought-after breed. She soon becomes responsible for a baby dragon of a highly sought-after breed. Suddenly, her peaceful existence is upended, challenging her people-pleasing nature in ways she never anticipated. Add to that the mysterious gargoyle that enters her bookshop (and her romantic dreams) and an unexpected visit from her overbearing parents, and you have a story that tests Doli at every turn.

At the heart of the story is Doli’s journey of navigating love with the enigmatic Sarson, setting boundaries with her toxic family, and discovering her inner strength. The dynamics with her friends are touching, the small-town magic is endearing, and the gentle romance is just the right amount of sweetness. There’s no need for spice here; the emotional depth and cozy atmosphere are more than enough.

This book is perfect for readers who enjoy low-stress fantasy with strong character growth, light romance, and a dose of heart. If you like a simple, sweet read, give A Fellowship of Librarians & Dragons a try.

Cozy fantasy with books, dragons and sexy gargoyles? Yes please.

If you read the previous book in the series, you know what to expect. If you didn't, I think you can start here. Events from previous books are mentioned here a few times, so it shouldn't be hard to understand the background of the story.

And it's a really fun story. This time we focus on Doli - our favourite tea-making dwarf. After moving to Adenashire to be closer to her new friends, she finally decides to focus on her own happiness, and that may include standing up to her parents, flirting with a gargoyle and raising a little dragon.

Doli is a great protagonist. She's easily relatable and charming. Her love interest, Sarson, has a definitely more personality than Theo from the last book. Overall the characters are more interesting then in the last book.

As for the plot, it's fun but could be better. Especially the mysteries. There's a build-up, but the pay-off feels rushed. And it still seems like Sarson is not telling Doli everything...

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this. I will definitely be back for the next part in the series. It is a great story to just relax and forget about the real world.

“Books, dragons, and a bunch of nerds on a quest? Say less.”

This was such a fun, cozy, and honestly adorable read. A magical library system, a dragon with serious attitude, and a bunch of chaotic characters who clearly did not read the quest manual. I was all in.

The library scenes were chef’s kiss — dusty, enchanted, slightly dangerous. Honestly, I’d move in. The dragon was probably my favorite (grumpy, dramatic, secretly soft), and the team dynamic had big found-family energy.

It was the perfect palate cleanser between heavier reads — warm, witty, and just the right amount of magic.

Huge thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC! 🐉📚

This is a fun cozy fantasy with lots of familiar characters from book one. Loved the theme of discovering yourself and creating your own family. Definitely read the first one before you jump into book two! This was a great time!

Thank you to Netgalley and J. Penner for the opportunity to read and review:

A Fellowship of Librarians & Dragons (Adenashire 2)

I went straight in for the title and themes of the book, not realising it was book 2 but I didn't feel left behind. It's a story that stands well on its own.

I was introduced to Dolly and her friends, and I was subtly handed some back story which was gratefully received by this over excited reader of dragon themed books.
My understanding was that Dolly, being a dwarf, was expected to follow in her families traditions and magics, however, she's found herself with tea magic (which is super cute) and she's also into fashion and baking. Quite un-dwarfly.

In this book, Dolly discoverers she's been left an egg ... a dragon egg to be precise and it follows the events following its hatching.
In the midst of everything, including her parents arriving for a surprise visit, Dolly meets Sarason. A Gargoyle librarian who has just arrived in Ardenashire and romance soon blossoms between the pair.

I really enjoyed the cosy vibes of the book, it's easy writing style and the way it explores themes of friendship and family. It really is a book of warmth and heart.

For me personally, I felt the story repeated itself a little and not much happened in places.
But it's a win as a cosy story about the sweetest, little dragon and it's bond with Dolly.
I also felt that even though there were quite a few characters to keep tabs on, I could grasp their individual relationships - I also thought the author approached the (often strained) relationship with Dolly's parents really well and was quite realisticly portrayed.

Would recommend this read if you enjoy easy, cosy fanstasy and low drama and sweet romance.

This was an amazing cozy fantasy! It can be read as a standalone, so there is no need to read the first book beforehand. That being said, I bought the first book immediately after reading A Fellowship of Librarians and Dragons because the world and the writing is absolutely amazing! We follow a group of friends in a cozy little town. There are loveable creatures and an adorably pesky dragon. I was fascinated by the world Penner creates and I cannot wait for more stores about this group. The writing was light and easy to follow. I could easily sit and be transported to this world and soak up all the details. There are different kinds of magics involved in the story and even though this was a cozy read, I never felt like I could guess what was going to happen next.
