Thank you to NetGalley for providing this ARC 💕

This is a stunningly cosy fantasy following Doli who has just inherited a dragon egg from her illusive uncle. With her parents making a surprise visit and a suspicious new friend on the scene, chaos ensues as Doli’s baby dragon hatches.

This was so fun!! I loved the dynamic between Doli and her parents and the evolution of their relationship as the book goes on. It also has a great supporting cast of characters (I can’t wait to read more of this series to see their stories!) and the world building was so interesting! I love the diverse group of fairytale/fantasy creatures and the way the author writes painted such a warm picture in my head. And the little romance subplot was so so so cute!!

Doli Butterbuckle, a people-pleasing sunshine dwarf, has moved to the small town of Adenashire, to get away from her overbearing parents and their expectations. Which is why it's such a bother and when her parents arrive soon after the delivery of her uncle's inheritance. He sent her a very ugly vase and a very rare dragon egg... with no explanation for either. The egg cracks immediately and Doli's life changes without warning.

Why I started this book: Requested the book based on the title alone.

Why I finished it: Finished in a day because it was such a calming book. Cozy fantasy is the focus on the mundane details of even a fantasy life. And there is something magical about the promise that all your problems can be solved if you have enough support from your friends.

Pure fun and a purely sweet read, I adored A Fellowship of Librarians & Dragons. The friendships, found family, the slow burn, Doli and Evvy, the bebe dragon, all the baking (and recipes at the end of the book!).

I would suggest reading A Fellowship of Bakers & Magic first, or else you might feel a little lost during your time with this.

AFoL&D was a charming read, and if you love cozy fantasy with low drama, look no further.
I am absolutely looking forward to reading the third title in the series 🙂

A Fellowship of Librarians & Dragons is the second book in the Adenashire series. This book follows Doli who is a dwarf that finds herself unexpectedly in possession of a dragon and way over her head. When a new, mysterious person shows up in town, he offers to help and finds herself drawn to him more and more.
This series is so cozy to read and I love it so much. This is the second book in. the series I have picked up and been lucky enough to get an ARC for. I absolutely loved the fact that his book made me so relaxed and made me feel so happp when I was reading it.
This book really was so fast for me to read. I was able to fly through this book when I was reading it because it was so good and such a quick read. I loved seeing all the characters from the previous book in this series and to see Doli again living her life.
Watching her relationship with her parents was really difficult as they struggle to accept who she is and the hcoices she made but I really lvoed seeing her come into her own. She stands up for hwo she is and I loved that for her. I also really loved her relatioshihp with the dragon that she gets gifted and I thought they were so funny.
Overall, if you are looking for a quick, cozy fantasy read, definitely pick up this book and the series. It was amazing! I can't wait to read more.

As delightfully cute and cozy as expected. And a baby dragon sweet enough to give you a toothache. Doli and her friends are a nice little found family. (Didn't realize it was second in the series and I'm kind of mad my library doesn't have the first.) Evvy is absolutely adorable and I'll take 14 of the little baby dragons please.

The bonus chapter was very sweet and made me tear up thinking about times with my own grandparents when I was a kid. (They really are the best aren't they?). And it's cool how she gives recipes at the end too.

I devoured this book as fast as the first in the scrumptious cozy fantasy series. Doli and and Evvy’s relationship was the true love story in this one. I adored the found family and healing we got with Doli’s story, and I can’t wait to read Jez’s in the next book.

10/10

A Fellowship of Librarians & Dragons by J. Penner is the second book in the Adenashire Cozy Fantasy series, a charming romance set in the enchanted town of Adenashire. Doli Butterbuckle, a dwarf, works at the local bookstore, reading romance novels on her off time and spreading sunshine with her personality.

Life takes an unexpected turn when Doli inherits a baby dragon, a rare and highly sought-after breed. She soon becomes responsible for a baby dragon of a highly sought-after breed. Suddenly, her peaceful existence is upended, challenging her people-pleasing nature in ways she never anticipated. Add to that the mysterious gargoyle that enters her bookshop (and her romantic dreams) and an unexpected visit from her overbearing parents, and you have a story that tests Doli at every turn.

At the heart of the story is Doli’s journey of navigating love with the enigmatic Sarson, setting boundaries with her toxic family, and discovering her inner strength. The dynamics with her friends are touching, the small-town magic is endearing, and the gentle romance is just the right amount of sweetness. There’s no need for spice here; the emotional depth and cozy atmosphere are more than enough.

This book is perfect for readers who enjoy low-stress fantasy with strong character growth, light romance, and a dose of heart. If you like a simple, sweet read, give A Fellowship of Librarians & Dragons a try.

Cozy fantasy with books, dragons and sexy gargoyles? Yes please.

If you read the previous book in the series, you know what to expect. If you didn't, I think you can start here. Events from previous books are mentioned here a few times, so it shouldn't be hard to understand the background of the story.

And it's a really fun story. This time we focus on Doli - our favourite tea-making dwarf. After moving to Adenashire to be closer to her new friends, she finally decides to focus on her own happiness, and that may include standing up to her parents, flirting with a gargoyle and raising a little dragon.

Doli is a great protagonist. She's easily relatable and charming. Her love interest, Sarson, has a definitely more personality than Theo from the last book. Overall the characters are more interesting then in the last book.

As for the plot, it's fun but could be better. Especially the mysteries. There's a build-up, but the pay-off feels rushed. And it still seems like Sarson is not telling Doli everything...

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this. I will definitely be back for the next part in the series. It is a great story to just relax and forget about the real world.

“Books, dragons, and a bunch of nerds on a quest? Say less.”

This was such a fun, cozy, and honestly adorable read. A magical library system, a dragon with serious attitude, and a bunch of chaotic characters who clearly did not read the quest manual. I was all in.

The library scenes were chef’s kiss — dusty, enchanted, slightly dangerous. Honestly, I’d move in. The dragon was probably my favorite (grumpy, dramatic, secretly soft), and the team dynamic had big found-family energy.

It was the perfect palate cleanser between heavier reads — warm, witty, and just the right amount of magic.

Huge thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC! 🐉📚

This is a fun cozy fantasy with lots of familiar characters from book one. Loved the theme of discovering yourself and creating your own family. Definitely read the first one before you jump into book two! This was a great time!

Thank you to Netgalley and J. Penner for the opportunity to read and review:

A Fellowship of Librarians & Dragons (Adenashire 2)

I went straight in for the title and themes of the book, not realising it was book 2 but I didn't feel left behind. It's a story that stands well on its own.

I was introduced to Dolly and her friends, and I was subtly handed some back story which was gratefully received by this over excited reader of dragon themed books.
My understanding was that Dolly, being a dwarf, was expected to follow in her families traditions and magics, however, she's found herself with tea magic (which is super cute) and she's also into fashion and baking. Quite un-dwarfly.

In this book, Dolly discoverers she's been left an egg ... a dragon egg to be precise and it follows the events following its hatching.
In the midst of everything, including her parents arriving for a surprise visit, Dolly meets Sarason. A Gargoyle librarian who has just arrived in Ardenashire and romance soon blossoms between the pair.

I really enjoyed the cosy vibes of the book, it's easy writing style and the way it explores themes of friendship and family. It really is a book of warmth and heart.

For me personally, I felt the story repeated itself a little and not much happened in places.
But it's a win as a cosy story about the sweetest, little dragon and it's bond with Dolly.
I also felt that even though there were quite a few characters to keep tabs on, I could grasp their individual relationships - I also thought the author approached the (often strained) relationship with Dolly's parents really well and was quite realisticly portrayed.

Would recommend this read if you enjoy easy, cosy fanstasy and low drama and sweet romance.

This was an amazing cozy fantasy! It can be read as a standalone, so there is no need to read the first book beforehand. That being said, I bought the first book immediately after reading A Fellowship of Librarians and Dragons because the world and the writing is absolutely amazing! We follow a group of friends in a cozy little town. There are loveable creatures and an adorably pesky dragon. I was fascinated by the world Penner creates and I cannot wait for more stores about this group. The writing was light and easy to follow. I could easily sit and be transported to this world and soak up all the details. There are different kinds of magics involved in the story and even though this was a cozy read, I never felt like I could guess what was going to happen next.

Let us talk about "A Fellowship of Librarians & Dragons" by J. Penner.

I so loved diving back into J. Penner’s Adenashire Series! “A Fellowship of Librarians & Dragons” brings you right back into the small town of Adenashire, and this time focusing on our lovely Doli Butterbuckle, a dwarf who just wants to get lost in romance books, spend time with her friends, and be who she is meant to be.

But Doli is in for a treat! Her great uncle has bestowed unto her a gift – an inheritance like no other. Although Doli tries to keep her past life and present life separate, the inheritance will pull her past front and center – making her come face to face with the reality of who she is and who she is meant to be. She’s been given a dragon egg – and not just any type of a dragon, but a rare and unique dragon that has no problem getting herself into chaos and trouble.

Plus – there is a new person in town that has caught her eye, and he is mysterious enough that she needs to know more about him. But will secrets and skepticism keep her from knowing more? Who is Sarson, and what does this gargoyle hide?
Lush with imagination, unexpected gifts, and all the baked goods, Doli is set to learn more about who she is deep down. She’s balancing her life, a new love, meddling parents, dragon-bonding, and a mystery!

If you love a good cozy fantasy read that warms your insides, makes you crave a custard tart with a hot cup of tea, I truly recommend picking up this book. It just warms you from the inside out.

Thank you @poisonedpenpress, @jpennerauthor for sending the Advanced Reader's Copy of this book!

A charming, delightful, full of mischief and heartfelt adventure.

In A Fellowship of Librarians & Dragons, the reader is whisked away to the quaint town of Adenashire, where life seems simple, magical, and endlessly charming. Doli Butterbuckle, a lovable dwarf with a knack for tea magic, is content in her small, close-knit world. She may never have lived up to her family's lofty expectations, but her life is full of warmth – until the arrival of an inherited dragon egg and a mysterious, charismatic gargoyle with a secret.

This delightful fantasy novel is not just a tale of dragons and magic, but one of self-discovery, love, and the strength that comes from embracing who we truly are. Doli's journey is a beautiful one, filled with heart and humour as she grapples with the weight of familial expectations, the responsibility of caring for an unpredictable fervour dragon, and the blossoming of a love that defies expectations.

Doli is the beating heart of this story. A sunshine dwarf who just wants to make everyone happy, she's incredibly relatable in her vulnerability. But as she faces the challenges of dragon-raising and the dark, sinister forces that threaten her peaceful life, we see her blossom into someone brave, wise, and fiercely true to herself. Her transformation is heartwarming – reminding readers that the most magical thing we can do is embrace who we are, flaws and all.

The town of Adenashire itself is a character in its own right. It paints a picture of a cosy, whimsical setting where dragons and gargoyles are as much a part of everyday life as books and tea. Doli's circle of friends, each with their own quirks and charm, adds depth to the story, offering light moments that balance the more intense moments.

The romance between Doli and the enigmatic gargoyle Sarson is slow-burning and utterly beautiful. It is a love story that doesn't feel rushed but rather builds with the gentle pace of the narrative, showing that the best relationships are those founded on mutual respect, understanding, and a bit of magic.

The pacing of the story is perfectly balanced, with a nice mix of action, humour, and emotional depth. The dragon subplot, with its mischievous antics, adds a delightful layer of whimsy to the plot, making the stakes feel high while keeping the tone light and fun.

At its core, A Fellowship of Librarians & Dragons is a story about finding your own place in the world and learning that it's okay to break free from the expectations others have for you. Doli's journey is a testament to the power of community, friendship, and accepting yourself – even when it feels like the world wants you to be something you're not.

If you're in the mood for a cozy fantasy that feels like a warm hug, A Fellowship of Librarians & Dragons by J. Penner is a delightful pick. I was happy to revisit the charming town of Adenashire, this sequel continues the series' signature blend of magic, friendship, and heartwarming moments.

This installment is all about Doli Butterbuckle, the ever-cheerful dwarf with her tea magic. Her journey takes an unexpected turn when she inherits a dragon egg, adding a whimsical twist to her story.
While it might not have the same momentum as the first book, AFoL&D offers a soothing read that's perfect for when you need a break from high-stakes adventures. It's a charming addition to the Adenashire series, it left me with a sense of contentment.

A Fellowship of Librarians and Dragons follows the adventures of magical creatures in the cozy and whimsy town of Adenashire. Doli is our heroine and she goes on a self-discovery journey to feel her feelings, set boundaries with loved ones and raise Evvy, the adorable pink dragon (this is a magical tale after all!). There’s also a library run by orcs, a handsome gargoyle love interest and many mentions of baking, including complete recipes at the end.

This story is firmly in the cozy fantasy genre. At times, the story felt very predictable, almost Hallmark-esque, but I think readers know this going into the series. It’s a feel good story where you know who the love interest is in first few pages. This is also the second book in the series so I’d recommend reading the first (I know, I know, that’s a hot take). I haven’t read the first and it took me awhile to figure out who all the characters were and their dynamics.

Overall, it’s a cute story and if readers previously enjoyed “Legends & Lattes” and “The Spellshop”, they might like this series as well.

Thank you NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for this ARC.

What a perfectly darling fantasy. Romantic elements, emotional dynamics with family, and a dragon whose need for a guardian couldn’t come at a more hectic time for poor Doli. J. Penner’s fantasy world is descriptive, cozy, and so heartwarming!

A Fellowship of Librarians and Dragons - J Penner

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this from Netgalley, and I am so glad I did! What a glorious series I’ve discovered. Cosy fantasy at its finest!

This book focused on Doli, the dwarf we met at the baking battle, and her journey in Adenshire, including a rather handsome gargoyle named Sarson! There was romance novels, dragons, difficult family members and tea aplenty. It was absolutely delightful. As an avid tea drinker, I adored all the descriptions of tea, and tea magic (I want tea magic now tbh).

I really enjoyed all the interaction between Doli and characters from the first book, like Jez, Theo and Arleta. As well as new characters like her parents and Evvy.

I’m very excited for the next book in the series, which is on KU, as I’m pretty sure it’s all about Jez the fennex, and I’m so excited to learn more about her! My chronically ill self resonates with her need for naps and general dislike of most people! Another ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review from me.
