This was my first Jaime Jo Wright, but it definitely won't be my last! Even though I figured out most of the mystery pretty easily, it was extremely engaging and well written.

I really enjoyed this story! The characters were relatable, and the faith elements were woven beautifully into the story. While I figured out who they were after pretty early on, I didn't figure out the reason behind it until Aaliyah and Wade did. Highly recommend!

Jamie Jo Wright steps into the Love Inspired Suspense team with an explosive story, Buried Wilderness Secrets. A shorter story that packs a punch and preserves Wright’s exceptional storytelling abilities. True to her style, the story focuses on the case to be solved, but there is some romance included as well as an emphasis on the family we surround ourselves with. I loved the wilderness setting, especially enhanced as I read it while in the wilderness, and found it to be an authentic storyline. While sad at the darkness some people choose to walk, there is the hope of redemption, justice, and closure on long buried hurts.

Park Ranger Aaliyah Terrance stumbles upon a burial ground and is attacked. Cold case Detective Wade Marlowe is investigating the murder of a women in the area. The search reveals long buried secrets that the killer will go to any lengths to hide. Including killing Aaliyah and Wade.
This was a fast paced mystery that kept me guessing until the end. I recommend this book to everyone who likes a good clean mystery.
I received this book from Love Inspired Suspense vis Net/Galley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.

Another excellent book by Jaime Jo Wright, but this time it's completely romantic suspense - and also not set in the Midwest! I liked her mixing up her dual time line books with this completely contemporary novel set in Montana. As with her other books she has excellent, well developed characters, a suspenseful story and hope at the end. This one has a bit more romance than others she's written which I also enjoyed. Overall the book is great and I can't recommend this one enough. I'm already planning on picking up a physical copy of this book for my mom!
Thank you to Harlequin Romance - Love Inspired for the opportunity to read an ARC of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

The questions have all been put to rest: Jaime Jo Wright CAN write contemporary romantic suspense, and she does it brilliantly. I read way into the night to satisfy my curiosity of what Aaliyah and Wade were up against. Such a well plotted and executed story.
“They could choose to get lost in the wilderness of unknowns and secrets, or they could face the wild of them and see what happened.”
Wade and Aaliyah made a lopsided team with Wade on protection alert and Aaliyah trying to be independent. But the big question was- who was the Arrowhead Killer and why was Aaliyah in danger?
For a writer who claims not to like kissing books, Ms. Wright gave us all the great romantic vibes in this totally intriguing suspenseful book. I love the dual time gothics by this author and I can honestly say this Love Inspired book was equally as captivating.

A park ranger stumbles upon a serial killer’s graveyard and unleashes a danger that a cold case detective partners with her to discover before she is added to the kill count. Jaime Jo Wright is not a new author to me and I fell in love with her books of gothic overtones and atmospheric historical settings in past reading so I was excited when she tried her hand at contemporary romantic suspense.
Aaliyah and her dog are in a Montana forest. She works as a park ranger alongside her godfather when her dog discovers a human skull. Aaliyah figures out this is a graveyard and discovers a bit of jewelry right about the time someone hits her over the head. Her situation is reported and when the police arrive to investigate, it ties in with the Arrowhead Killer, a serial killer cold-case Detective Wade Marlowe is assigned.
Things get more shocking when it’s discovered that Aaliyah has more than one tie to the case. Naturally, this puts her in the crosshairs of the killer. Aaliyah partners with Wade to hunt down the killer before the killer gets her as the latest victim.
I liked both Aaliyah and Wade. She’s a centered person with good sense and loves what she does. She’s adopted, but grew up in a loving home that has always been true family. Wade’s got a past pain because he’s still carrying around guilt from when his sister was murdered. I liked their friendship and partnering – okay, once they got past the early antagonism- and I was glad to see the crisp police work happening as they worked the case with good rises in tension as the villain makes their play. The inspirational themes of belonging and letting go, trusting God were present. Montana’s small community and rugged wilderness areas made a nice setting.
Buried Wilderness Secrets read fast, and the romance was background and slow build. Wright definitely transitioned genres well and I hope she pens more romantic suspenses for me to enjoy now that I’ve had my first taste.

I've read most of Jaime Jo Wright's books so I was definitely expecting the same mystery and spookiness that I've come to really like from her, but I think this one missed the mark a bit. Maybe I'm used to dual timelines from her, the historical aspect, or since this one was less than 300 pages it felt rushed, but whatever the reason I didn't quite connect. The book was well-written and I liked the main characters, but everything felt condensed and I just wanted more. Rounded up from 3.5

I enjoyed this cold case thriller. This is a love inspired suspense novel so it is a quick and easy read. This story centers around Aaliyah and Wade. Aaliyah finds a burial ground where it looks like the work of a serial killer. Wade is a cold case detective and he comes to help her with her search. This uncovers cold cases (one of which was Aaliyah’s birth mother). This story has a good bit of twists and turns and has a twist at the end. I highly recommend this book.

An unexpected discovery in the wilderness unearths a serial killer, and a cold case suddenly turns hot in this twisty, suspense-filled story.
When Montana park ranger Aaliyah Terrence stumbles across a serial killer’s burial ground, she is plunged into danger. As she and cold case detective Wade Marlowe race to uncover the killer’s identity, they find that not all secrets are buried in the wilderness.
Fabulous characters, intense suspense, and nonstop action make this a page-turner start to finish!

I’m so excited Jaime Jo Wright is branching out into a new genre! I love her Gothic dual timelines, so I was very eager to check out this Love Inspired Suspense. It did not disappoint! I loved it!
Aaliyah becomes the target of a dangerous killer after she and her dog stumble upon his secret burial grounds. Wade, a detective, thinks this could be connected to a cold case he’s working on. He also thinks there’s a personal connection to Aaliyah. After getting off on the wrong foot, they reluctantly join forces to try to solve the case before Aaliyah becomes the next victim.
I really liked Aaliyah and Wade. I also loved Aaliyah’s dog, Peaches. She was such an awesome canine friend.
The mystery kept me hooked and reading as fast as I could. I had my suspicions about who the guilty party was, but there were a couple of other suspects I was suspicious of, so I wasn’t sure until right before the reveal.
If you’re looking for a romantic suspense that will keep you on your toes, grab a copy of this book. You won’t be disappointed. I’m looking forward to more stories in this genre from Jaime Jo Wright.
I received a copy of this book and voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and comments are my honest opinion.

Thanks to netgalley for my review copy.
I am on a bit of a Romantic Suspense kick and did enjoy this book. The romance is a slow burn with the suspense the bigger part of the book like it should be. Park Ranger Aaliyah is on patrol with her dog peaches when her dog brings her a bone. She has stumbled across a serial killer's burial ground. While there she is attacked by the killer. Wade a FBI cold case detective has come about a cold case which turns out to be related to the latest bodies.
We find out the identity of the first victim was Aaliyah birth mother and looks like the killer is now after her. This starts a chain of events where she is in danger and being stalked by the killer. Wade is determined to keep her safe and not let what happened to his sister happen again. There is a lot of action and while I had ideas about who was out to get her I didn't guess questions. I liked how the story played out and again the landscape is definitely its only character.
Another good Love Inspired Suspense.

Cold case, serial killer, family secrets. This fast-paced suspense novel begins with Aaliyah Terrence and her dog Peaches uncovering a human skull in the Montana wilderness. Once law enforcement is involved, things rapidly escalate. Detective Wade Marlow is working a cold case which brings him to town and Aaliayah suddenly finds herself confronted with family secrets that are intertwined with his investigation. Can the two work together to uncover the serial killer and figure out the dynamics behind Aaliyah's adoption? Twists and turns keep you glued to this first ever LIS by Jaime Jo Wright!

OVERALL STAR RATING: 4/5
CLEAN RATING: 5/5
I’m a huge fan of Jaime Jo Wright’s dual timeline historical novels so I was really excited to pick up and read something a little bit different from her.
There’s a lot packed into this little novel that’s just over 200 pages! So many twists and turns. This is a great curl up in the corner of a couch and read in a single day type of book. I love a good cold case and this one kicks off right away with our FMC, Aaliyah, stumbling across a burial ground of what seems to be the dumping location of a serial killer. When Detective Wade Marlowe realizes that one of the victim’s is in fact Aaliyah’s biological mother, well…this story REALLY takes off at full speed.
Aaliyah had been adopted, so finding out this information about her birth mom sends her soaring on quite the emotional roller coaster. There are SO many questions to be answered, and it becomes harder with each turn of the page for Aaliyah to decipher who in her life can be trusted. Some things just aren’t adding up and her and Wade are determined to put all the pieces of the giant puzzle together.
If you’re a dog lover, you’re really going to adore this story even more. Aaliya’s dog, Peaches, is just about as important of a MC as the rest of them.

I love a cold case mystery because it is always exciting to see how modern investigative procedures can often offer new evidence which warms up even the coldest cold cases.
When Montana park ranger Aaliyah Terrence finds a serial killer's burial ground, things get more than a little dicey and dangerous for her.
Detective Wade Marlowe is a cold case detective and has arrived in town to deliver some news about a cold case that will rock this town. Aliyah's life will never be the same with this news as she struggles with secrets about her life that she never knew, but more importantly she now has a target on her back. Darkness hides evil and something or someone evil is at work in Montana.
Aaliyah was strong-willed, intelligent and very likable. I also loved her black lab, Peaches. Wade was a strong character battling his own demons. He has suffered a tragic loss in his life that has colored everything in his life. I was rooting for both of them because they were both due a win in their lives.
This twisty, suspense-filled mystery kept me tied in knots and turning the pages as quickly as possible so I could find out if my intuitions were correct. This one deserves a solid five stars.
Thank you to Harlequin and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I love Jaime Jo Wright’s books, so I was excited to see that she had written one for Love Inspired Suspense! I thought that she did a great job packing a lot into a much shorter book than she normally writes. Buried Wilderness Secrets takes you on a suspenseful journey to the Montana wilderness.
When park ranger Aalyiah Terrence’s dog brings her part of a human skull, she has no idea that she’s stumbled onto a serial killer’s burial ground. If you watch crime shows, you know that serial killers like to keep their burial grounds secret and often revisit them (yes, I know TV isn’t real life, but still). Cold case detective Wade Marlowe has no idea that the case he’s currently working on is going to lead him to this serial killer case. I love how these two cases combined and brought Aalyiah and Wade together. I did have the killer pegged pretty quickly, but it could have been one of many suspects! The romance is subtle, and you can tell that these two want to be sure what they’re feeling is real and not just trauma causing them to develop this bond.
Though it’s much different than Wright’s novels, it has a strong message of faith combined with well-written characters and an exciting plot. I think Love Inspired Suspense fans will really enjoy it!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
This was a great Christian romantic suspense by Wright and went way too fast for me. A ranger finds a burial ground and the serial killer behind it does not want to be found. The Ranger is stalked and threatened but hold on because there are lots of twists and turns through this story.
Definitely will continue reading this authors work.

Buried Wilderness Secrets is a must read for the summer. It’s filled with action, suspense, mystery, romance, and an amazing setting. Aaliyah Terrance, a park ranger, uncovers a body in the Montana wilderness, but little does she know the killer is coming after her. The crime was unpredictable and the action intense. If you love romantic suspense, you need to read Buried Wilderness Secrets.
