**Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of this book**
Good, trashy, kick your feet in the air and giggle. Ticks all the boxes for a slightly spicy poolside read. The book seemed over too soon, like the author could have added more to the world and the characters other than Willow. Would defiantly recommend for anyone who might like a supernatural Harlequin romance.

A Match Made in Hell by @writesalotte was such a good read!
I read the first bit a little slowly and then I just HAD TO KNOW what happened next! I couldn’t put it down.
Willow Whites dies and goes to Asphodel (that seems an awfully lot like hell). She makes a deal with King Sath, the ruler of Asphodel (never make a deal with the devil!) and if she can complete all seven tasks, the seven sins, then she can return to her human life.
The thing is, she’s attracted to Sath. And she’s made a friend in Asphodel. A REAL ONE. But everything is not as it seems.
To me, the focus was less on the tasks and more on Willows growth and her overcoming her sins from life. Her realizing herself and learning that maybe she wasn’t a failure just because she wasn’t what her mother wanted her to be.
I really loved this fantasy romance and I’m so excited for everyone else to get their hands on it! A Match Made in Hell comes out September 2025!

I was really excited for this arc but something was missing. It definitely read more YA than I expected it to and the plot just wasn’t completely fleshed out. It felt like an amalgamation of every other book I loved. I liked Sath and Willow but the tension wasn’t there between them. But again, if this is supposed to be YA/new adult — then I get why it was written how it was written.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this arc ebook in exchange for an honest review, all opinions expressed are my own.

I loved it all. A very fun read but with heavy themes throughout. Very well written with excellent pacing. The romance was so good. I loved the female main character despite all of her faults. There was nothing I disliked.

This story focuses on Willow, who has died and finds herself in Hell. The devil himself, Sath, gives her an offer she can't refuse. All she has to do is pass seven tasks based on the Seven deadly sins, and she will be allowed to go back home. Willow's back story is a bit sad in every aspect and it almost feels like staying in Hell might be the better option. I enjoyed every trial that Willow had to go through and watching her grow as a person throughout them. Lust and wraith were probably my favorite because they brought out such strong emotions from both Sath and Willow.
As Willow starts to do these tasks, the two of them become closer. One of my favorite parts is when they are playing Scrabble, and he uses the word callipygian. I had to look up what that word meant, which was probably the reasoning the author used it, and I was not disappointed. I was not expecting the twist at the end, but I'm happy with how things went. Thank you to Netgalley, Simon and Schuster Children's Publishing, and Charlotte Ingham for an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion.

Willow is dead and she is not happy. Sath is the devil and in charge of where Willow ended up in the afterlife. Willow wants to go back to the living and be with her boyfriend and best friend, so she makes a deal with the devil. Survive a series of challenges based on the deadly sins and she can return to her old life. But along the way she learns her previous life may not be what she wants after all.
Willow was annoying, a lot of the time. But I still rooted for her and enjoyed her growth and strength. I think more time on the page showing the change would have elevated the story. I enjoyed Sath and would have liked more background on his past and what led him to his current position, we get a small taste, but more would have been great! Overall this was a quick and fast read, that kept me interested the whole way through and was well written.
4.5 stars rounded up
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the eARC.

Mild Spoilers!
This was a really interesting take on the after life, I loved the world building and how we got introduced to so many different kinds of offerings Asphodel had. Willow had been through a lot mentally in her short life before she died and I'm glad she was able to see through them eventually; I loved the envy trial and wished that she said something to her shitty ex and ex-friend to let them know that they suck and she's better off without them but that's just the petty in me. I loved that Willow constantly pushed Sath to hang out and basically be a human, those connection moments were felt and really built up their relationship. Speaking of that, be prepared for a slow burn there, we get plenty of teasing but nothing happens till the ending bit but it was worth it, so much happens and the build up made it seamless. I also loved hoe Willow was the one with power in the end and she became such a newbie badass and Sath was just her supportive man in the end, definitely a less traveled route that was a great decision. Over all I enjoyed this and ate it up, always wanting to know what was going to happen next and how things were going to play out.

This was such a fun and addictive read! I went in expecting a bit of snark and fantasy romance — and I got that plus way more than I thought. Willow is exactly the kind of main character I love: stubborn, witty, and constantly pushing back even when things get dark (literally)
The seven tasks based on the deadly sins were such a cool idea, and I was totally hooked wondering how she’d get through each one. And then there’s King Sath — dark, tempting, and way more layered than he first appears. Their chemistry built up in such a satisfying way without rushing things.
It had that perfect mix of fantasy, tension, humor, and heart. I laughed, I swooned, and I didn’t want it to end.
Big thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this early. I had such a great time with it!

While there a lot of things I liked about this book, I found it just wasn't for me. There is nothing wrong with the book, it's more that it's my personal taste.

this book slaps, The plot was amazing and the trials were different from the other trials we see in most books and it's like a breath of fresh air.

Thank you Simon Teen for the gifted eARC. This book was cute. I enjoyed the concept over all. I do wish there was more in some areas. Specifically the trials. And the romance aspect felt like a back seat. Curious to see how the final book is but good read.

Thank you netgalley and simoneteen for the arc! All thoughts are my own. Seth.. absolutely loved him so much. I was happy to see willow growth while still not taking up for others and herself. I loved the descriptions and details of the "underworld" and I'm still not over the ending!

Willow stumbles off the mortal realm and right into the delicious forearms of the king of hell. Adamant that she shouldn't be dead, Willow strikes a deal with King Sath: He'll revive her and send her back to Earth if she completes seven tasks, corresponded to each of the seven sins. But as Willow explores Asphodel (and Sath), she starts wondering if she even wants to return to a distant boyfriend and questionable best friend.
This book is definitely geared towards Upper YA, or even adult. The character development was nicely wrapped and fits inside YA, but the romance felt a little too mature to be YA. Willow is 21, and Sath is 26 (plus 200). There are one and a half open-door scenes (kinda? Somewhat vague, but if it looks like a duck and talks like a duck...). However, this isn't a romance built on lust (though that is one of the trials). I really loved the friendship and emotional connection they built first. I'm a sucker for royal romances, especially when he's on his throne but he can't stop looking at her. Playing board games? My vice. Definitely checks off all my romance boxes.
The plot was pretty filling meal too. I loved exploring Asphodel with Willow, returning back to Earth to see what her old life has become, and watching her go through the trials. She's a relatable character, funny and strong while utterly unable to behave, and I honestly love her for that. She's not perfect, and she has to own up to it. I kinda wish we had a bit more backstory on Sath, though. He was a fascinating character, but I can't help finding him bland, just another dark, ripped, powerful male lead. He can seem very distant at times, just showing up to see Willow, yet we don't explore much of his other facets. He's still hot, though, in a multitude of ways.
