WOW! I absolutely loved this book! The story surrouds A sweet 16 birthday party in a mansion that is supposedly haunted. By the end of the party someone ends up dead. The story is told through multiple POV. Party of Liars is filled with tension, drama, and a lot of questionable characters.I did not expect the ending. I highly recommend this book. It is Binge-Worthy. Thank you, NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for my audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

I'm glad I chose to listen to the audiobook of Party of Liars. I enjoyed the story, even more so because of the multiple narrators. It the type of suspense/thriller that I tell myself one more chapter and I continue reading long into the night. There are a lot of characters that speak from their own point of view. It was a little hard to follow, but the audio and different narrators helped me keep track pretty quick. This is my first read by Kelsey Cox. Party of Liars was so enjoyable I'm going to search if Ms. Cox wrote other books. I look forward to reading more by this author. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an andvanced copy of this page turner book.

This book was crazy. The title says it all. Ther were liars everywhere. At some point you just know nothing you are reading is honest. A book full of terrible characters. The characters were written well, but they were hard to like. None of them innocent, none of them forgiving, It was a mess but in the best way. DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA.
I really enjoyed this read and look forward to more from this author.
If you like psychological thrillers and unreliable narrators. Read this book.

Plot
This novel is a locked-room mystery where everyone has a motive and not everyone will make it out alive. It is Sophie Matthews’s sixteenth birthday party in a huge, renovated, once-haunted mansion. The black-tie affair should be a night to remember and it will be but for a different reason – because someone has been murdered…. and one of the party guests did it!
Why Kirsten loves it
With multiple narrators ALL lying, this story will keep you guessing until the end – both with who was killed and who is the killer! I couldn’t read this fantastic book fast enough. The drama was intense, secrets were unraveled throughout the entire story and I did NOT see the ending coming!

I really enjoyed this one! It was fast paced, I never knew what was coming next. I thought I knew who did it but then I wasn’t sure, it kept me guessing non stop. I enjoyed the twist at the end, it was built up just right.

Well, this Sweet Sixteen party did not go as planned! I loved the setting—this renovated mansion sounds pretty fabulous (in an over-the-top, Texas way)—and the ghost stories that surround it were fascinating. When the reader discovers exactly what the tragedy is that interrupts Sophie’s birthday celebration all the pieces start to come together in this dramatic thriller. I had so many questions, mostly about Dani. Is her problem post-partem psychosis? Or is the house really haunted? Or is she just imagining these strange and threatening things that happen? And, I didn’t question many things that I should have wondered about. I enjoyed this story, and the audiobook is read by a full cast, including some of my favorite narrators, and it is wonderful. Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this audiobook.

This Party. I had a feeling this was going to be a good book, but it exceeded my expectations. The story was so good and it kept you guessing at every turn. I was fortunate enough that I was given the audio book as an ARC for review and the narration did not disappoint. The whole cast of narrators: Dan Bittner; Kate Handford; Pearl Hewitt; Saskia Maarleveld and Suzy Jackson was so good. They really brought the story to life. Each narrator gave the main characters life and even the other characters were played to be able to be distinguished. The whole time, I kept looking for who had been the person who had died and who had done it. The narration really made you feel part of this lavish Texas sized party.
As for the story itself it was exactly what it was advertised to be. As mentioned before, it kept you guessing and just when you thought you knew the story, there was another twist to the plot. The setting no was also so good. I may be biased being from Texas, but I could picture this big house in the Texas hill country and this group of rich folks just putting up a front while having all these big secrets just wanting to surface. The story kept me on the edge of my seat and it enveloped me in the most wonderful way. This is not the norm for a hopeless romantic girly like myself to read, but it was such a nice change of pase. Stores like this one is what keep me coming back to the suspense/ thriller genre. I’ll take a break from romance any day for a little mystery mixed with murder. Thank you again Macmillan Audio for the chance to listen to this audiobook prior to release.

This was a pretty good read. Seems to be a trope that is done over and over but this was done well. It took me a bit to get onto but overall enjoyed it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️4.25 stars/5
If you’re into character-driven psychological suspense with domestic drama and eerie undertones, Party of Liars is a solid pick. The story revolves around a Sweet 16 party that ends in tragedy—but you don’t know who died, how, or why until the end. Told through multiple POVs (all from women connected to the central family), the book slowly unpacks everything leading up to and following that night. And at the heart of it all? A glass-walled house on a hill with a history, secrets, and maybe something more.
I really enjoyed how this one focused less on a traditional whodunnit and more on who was killed, why, and who you can trust to tell the truth. It’s layered and slow-burning, with a strong sense of tension that builds the more you realize how unreliable everyone is—including the narrators themselves.
I listened to this on audio and thought it was really well done. Each narrator had a distinct voice that helped solidify the characters and their perspectives, though I’ll admit it was occasionally a challenge to keep track of all the POVs early on.
If you like messy, complex female characters, a creeping sense of “what’s really going on here,” and stories that blur the lines between reality and manipulation, I definitely recommend picking this one up.
Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for an Advanced Listener's Copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I know a book is good when I can’t control my facial expressions - eyes wide, eyebrows raised, jaw dropped - and Party of Liars DID THAT. The twists just kept coming, each one better than the last! Too good, like a guilty pleasure.

Party Of Liars revolves around the event of the year- Sophie’s 16th birthday party. They do say everything’s bigger in Texas, right? Right from the start there’s a lot of parts and pieces involved, a stepmom and new baby, dad’s newly renovated mansion, mom’s anger towards her ex husband and new, younger wife, etc. And that’s just the start! Now, with a dead body falling from the balcony, there are no shortage of suspects.
Get ready for a wild ride! It took me a bit to get caught up on the who’s and where’s and what’s happenings with the volume of characters. They were well developed and I found myself relating to each one individually. Overall, it was a quick read with suspense, a unique style of storytelling, and enough drama to wear you out!
Thank you NetGalley and MacMillan Audio for this ALC!

This audiobook took a little while to pull me in, but once it did I found myself invested in the story and eager to see how it would all unfold. The pacing was steady throughout, and the final twists were satisfying and well-executed.
Some of the themes felt familiar, but the way they were presented still held my interest. I appreciated that the characters weren’t flawless; their imperfections added depth and realism. There’s a strong thread throughout the story that money can’t fix everything—or everyone.
The multiple narrators (Dan Bittner, Kate Handford, Pearl Hewitt, Saskia Maarleveld, and Suzy Jackson) added a lot to the experience. Their voices helped clearly differentiate the characters and brought variety and texture to the narrative. All the performances were strong and engaging.
A solid listen with a strong finish—definitely worth checking out for fans of twisty, character-driven dramas.

Give me messy rich people with buried secrets, and I will eat it up every single time. This book delivers exactly what the title promises, and I had so much fun with it.
Right from the start, you know someone dies at Sophie Matthews’s sweet sixteen bash. But what you don’t know (and won’t know until the very end) is who. That’s what makes this one such a page-turner. It’s not just a whodunit, but a who-died and whodunit to them.
We get the story through four main POVs, and each one brings their own flavor of chaos. We have Dani, the new Instagram-famous stepmom, who’s juggling a newborn and a rapidly unraveling mental state. Then there's Orlaith, the older, superstitious Irish nanny who’s still grieving the loss of her daughter and sensing some seriously bad energy in the house. (Dani also doesn't like Orlaith, but her husband insists she is necessary… so, there's extra drama here.) We also have Kim (my favorite character because she's soooo juicy), the ex-wife who’s bitter, boozy, and very much not over the whole divorce thing. And then Mikayla, Sophie’s best friend who is quiet, awkward, and maybe just a little more unhinged than she lets on.
I loved how distinct each voice felt. I listened to the audiobook which had a different narrator for each character. It really helped keep things straight even as the story jumped between past, present, and the aftermath. The time-hopping structure could’ve easily been confusing, but it never was. It flowed smoothly, and each perspective added new tension, suspicion, and emotional depth.
The drama, the dynamics, and the buildup is exactly what one would expect with this type of book. It's popcorn thriller perfection. Honestly, the characters were the best part for me. They’re all a little broken, a little shady, and all hiding something. You know from the beginning that someone’s going to crack, and watching that unravel was so satisfying. And while I did find the final reveal of who died and what they did to deserve it very predictable, it didn’t ruin the ride.
This is one of those books that feels made for a beach bag. It’s dark but not heavy, twisty but easy to follow, and full of exactly the kind of rich-person drama that scratches the rich people behaving badly itch in my brain. If you’re into layered domestic thrillers with a cast of interesting characters then you’re going to fly through this.

3.5 stars. This is an easy-to-follow domestic drama told from multiple points of view, featuring various narrators. Although it is being marketed as a thriller, in my opinion, not much happens that warrants this classification until the last 25% of the book. While somewhat predictable, this is an enjoyable read about a Sweet 16 party gone awry.
This debut novel is releasing on July 1, 2025. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the advanced audio!

Well done, Kelsey Cox! Party of Liars is a twisty and devious thriller which hooked me from the very first chapter. It is so well written and the cliff hangers at the end of each chapter made it difficult to find a stopping point!
The multiple narrators were excellent!! I loved listening to the performance of this audiobook.
Sophie Matthew’s is celebrating her sixteenth birthday at her father’s recently renovated cliffside mansion in the Hill Country of Texas, said to have a haunting past.
This story delves into the lives of her friend Mikayla, her step-mother Dani, the superstitious nanny Orlaith, her father Ethan, and mother Kim. Set before and after the night of the lavish party when a body falls from the balcony to the dance floor. It keeps you guessing who died and whodunnit?!

This is an enjoyable thriller. I was provided the audiobook with a full cast, which was well done and each performance brought a unique voice to the characters. I particularly enjoyed the actress for Dani; she nailed the new-wife role with anxiety, trying her best, but also terrified that she can't trust herself. The emotions came across effectively and I was happy with every voice actor in the production.
As a thriller, this does deliver on a lot of secrets, even some possible paranormal interferences, with lots of twists and reveals throughout. By the end, however, I thought the twists were getting a bit ridiculous and I wasn't able to keep up my suspension of disbelief. I think this would have been improved if it just focused on Dani and the ex-wife Kim. Both women are the most fleshed out characters, each with their own intentions and vices, and the listener/reader has trouble knowing who to believe. I thought the addition of the nanny and Sophie's best friend were unnecessary and added some of the more ridiculous aspects of the thriller.
Overall I did enjoy this, with some caveats that keep it from being really great.

Spectacular!!! Some characters you hate, some you like, and some you're just not quite sure about...
There were so many dang secrets it was hard to keep up and sometimes you just weren't sure what was going to happen next.
The multiple POVs and short chapters had you ravenously reading to see what was going to happen next.
The ending in particular was so well done - I did not see it coming whatsoever.
This was my first book by this author and it won't be my last - I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.
Thank you NetGalley and St Martin's Press for allowing me access to this ebook!

I just finished a good audiobook. Party of Liars by Kelsey Cox is available in July. This is a book that should not be skipped.

Party of Liars was one of my most recent audiobook listens and a really enjoyable one. Set in the Hill Country of Texas, the location can be felt with every Texas twang of the narration and I loved that. I was transported to one of my favorite places. And like everything else that is bigger in Texas, so were the bold personalities and the lavish sweet sixteen party turned deadly that is the setting of this locked room thriller.
The story takes place during a sweet sixteen party at a house that feels a bit cursed and where everyone is keeping secrets. Told through multiple plot lines and POV’s this thriller has many layers and trying to excavate through all of them was a tremendous amount of fun. A fractured blended family, teens and adults, employees and friends, the relationships are tangled and toxic and I love when the wealthy misbehave. It’s hard to know who to root for here, as the author does a good job of letting each character seem both a potential victim and villain for the first half of the book. It did eventually become fairly obvious who the victim would be, but this one was so much fun I just didn’t care.
A huge reason for the book’s success was the superb narration by multiple cast members. In a book with such a large cast of characters, it could get confusing but this one never did. Each character was distinct and came fully to life. It was a great performance that made a really good book even better. Possibly the best audiobook I’ve listened to so far this year. Thank you to @macmillan.audio for this advanced listening arc. I think this one would be the perfect summer beach read.

Enjoyed this locked door mystery. First book by this author, and will definitely be reading her work again! Characters were all unlikable which was a minus for me. Thank you for this opportunity!
