Wow! This was soooo not what I was expecting. Party of Liars is not just an elaborate ‘Sweet 16’ birthday party goes wrong. This is fast paced with multiple POVs and identified timelines. Pay attention! There’s lots going on and a lot of characters to keep track of; they all play significant roles. The ending caught me by surprise! Grab a glass of your favourite beverage and prepare for quite a party.
The audiobook narration is done by multiple people. The narration is clear, well paced and easy to listen to but make sure you’re paying attention- there’s a lot going on.
-I had the good fortune of receiving the audiobook as well as an invite to read the ebook. I alternated between listening and reading. Although I often tend to favour listening to the audiobook, this time I found reading the text made it easier to keep everyone and everything going on straight.
Thank You to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the opportunity to listen to the audiobook version of this ARC.

Party of Liars was a wild ride from start to finish. Kelsey Cox does a great job layering secrets, lies, and unexpected twists that kept me flipping pages late into the night. The drama was juicy, the characters were messy in all the right ways, and the ending definitely delivered. I took off one star because a couple of the characters could’ve been developed a bit more, but overall, it was a super entertaining and binge-worthy read. Perfect if you love your thrillers with a side of scandal.

Party of Liars, written by Kelsey Cox, voiced by a multicast of talented narrators, is an audiobook that held my full attention for an entire day. Once I started listening, I just could not stop. The twists and turns were always surprising—I did not guess the ending, even though I was trying to the whole time. Perfectly plotted!!! Dani was my absolute favorite character, I keep thinking about her like she's a real person and wondering how she's doing now. I can't believe this is Cox's debut novel!! Highly recommend!!!!

This book was better than I expected! The audio was amazing, with its unexpected pops and twists. It’s a mix of everything—lies, betrayal, mystery, suspense, and a unique blend of a young adult and motherhood perspective. While there are moments that might feel a bit unnecessary, they likely serve to keep you guessing and build curiosity. You’re hooked the entire time, and just when you think you've figured it out, another twist is revealed at the very end!
Thank you NetGalley and St Martins Press for the ARC

This ten-gallon thriller proves that everything is bigger in Texas, including the revenge we seek.
Kelsey Cox's debut novel, Party of Liars, is a bang-on pick for fans of Lucy Foley: Start with a glossy manor with a macabre past. Enter a lavish party where it feels like the whole town has arrived. But unlike Foley's English, rural, contemporary-yet-Christie-esque settings, let's kick this one off in Texas, where the celebration revolves around a Sweet Sixteen dripping in excess. Our narrators all orbit around Sophie Matthew on her special day: There's her mother, the drunk divorcee, Kim. There's Mikayla, her best friend with a dark secret. There's her stepmother, the much younger and trendier Dani. And there's Orlaith, Sophie's (muuuuuch younger) half-sister's nanny. As the guests, all dolled up and ready to get liquored up, roll into Sophie's dad's house for her soiree, it becomes clear that not everyone has arrived with the best intentions. Someone knows a dark secret in the Matthews household. And murder is the only way to fix the problem.
I've already mentioned above that Foley fans will find much to savor here, and if I have any note on this one, its that perhaps, structurally, this novel is almost a Foley knock-off, with a revolving door of suspicious narrators, a dead body whose identity remains unknown, and a tense build-up to the explosive end where the victim's actions are revealed to be great motivation for any of the characters to be vengeful. BUT, to that same (almost) criticism, there is flattery in imitating something great for genre fiction readers. After all, much like Foley's The Guest List, this one does leave you truly guessing. When the pieces start to come together, it's a delicious reveal. And the final pages offer an explosive twist that makes the story even more rewarding. This novel's last third is by far its strongest, leaving readers with a super satisfying popcorn thrill ride that suggests that Cox, just starting out, could have a big career in publishing ahead of her.

Party of Liars is easily one of my favorite reads of 2025 so far—and I’m already on book 42!
This book has everything: multiple POVs, nonstop twists and turns, a notorious haunted house, suspense for days, and a Sweet 16 party that turns deadly.
You’ll constantly be questioning what’s real, who you can trust, and what everyone’s hiding. I spent the entire book guessing who dies and who the killer is—and the possibilities had my head spinning. I was still unsure until the very end when it all came together.
This is going to be the perfect summer thriller, and I seriously can’t wait for everyone to read it. It’s just that good. 🔪📚✨
I'm also blown away that this is a DEBUT!!! So pumped for more amazing books from this author!
Thank you so much NetGalley, Macmillan Audio, & Kelsey Cox for this audio ARC

I listened to the audiobook and thoroughly enjoyed the large cast of narrators. Dan Bittner, Kate Handford, Pearl Hewitt, Saskia Maarleveld, and Suzy Jackson do an amazing job bringing each character to life. The book features multiple points of view and shifts back and forth in time to lead you to the conclusion. There are so many intertwining stories and plot twists that tie the entire narrative together in the end. I love thrillers that keep you guessing, and this one certainly did.
Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the advanced copy

*Party of Liars* is a compelling and atmospheric mystery that kept me engaged from start to finish. One of the standout elements for me was the multi-narrator format of the audiobook—it added depth and personality to each character, making the story feel more immersive and dynamic. The different voices helped distinguish perspectives clearly, which worked especially well given the layered storytelling and shifting timelines. The production quality was excellent, and the cast brought the tension and emotional weight of the plot to life.
The setting also deserves a special mention. The depiction of Texas hill country felt incredibly authentic, from the small-town dynamics to the rugged beauty of the landscape. It created a strong sense of place that added richness to the story and made the stakes feel more grounded. I found the pacing steady and the characters believable, with enough twists to keep things interesting without feeling overdone. Overall, I’d give *Party of Liars* a solid 4 stars. Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the advanced copy—I definitely recommend this one to fans of character-driven mysteries with a strong sense of place.

Many thanks to NetGalley and MacMillan Audio for the free audiobook in exchange for my honest review. Dan Bittner, Kate Handford, Pearl Hewitt, Saskia Maarleveld, and Suzy Jackson do a fantastic job narrating and immersing the reader into the story.
In celebration of Sophie's sweet 16, her dad and stepmom are throwing her an over the top party which includes an open bar for the adults and very little supervisions for the teenage attendees. The place of the party is the mansion in which Dani (stepmom), Ethan (dad), nanny, and their new baby live. In fact the home was originally built in the early 1900's and all in the town believes its haunted by "the Mother" who killed herself there when her baby died of Spanish Influenza. Ethan's first wife, Kim, (Sophie's mom) is an alcoholic in attendance along Sophie's bestie Mackayla.
The story is told by various characters, none of whom are reliable. The reader knows up front that someone dies at the party, and it's the guessing as to who dies and who the killer is that keeps the reader evaluating everyone. All characters have secrets, and all are lying about something.
There are a lot of plot twists, sub plots, and the pacing is fast. None of the characters are especially likable but it works. The whole book takes place over the course of the party with plenty of flashbacks. Memory plays an important role in the story, and nothing is as it seems.
I enjoyed seeing it all come together and did not guess who dies and who the killer is until the very end. A very entertaining read!!!

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook.
I enjoyed this..... turns I didn't predict. Reader knows there will be a tragedy... BUT who will it be.... know will have done it... and what was it??
I liked the character development - solid 4.5.
A lavish, Texas-sized Sweet Sixteen turns deadly in this twisty, pulse-pounding new novel — serving up a fresh take on a classic locked-room whodunnit. Let the festivities begin…
Today is Sophie Matthews’s sixteenth birthday party, an exclusive black-tie bash in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, where secrets are as deep-rooted as the sprawling live oaks. Sophie’s dad has spared no expense, and his renovated cliffside mansion—once thought haunted—is now hosting the event of the season. Then, just before the candles on the three-tiered red velvet cake are blown out, a body falls from the balcony onto the starlit dance floor below.
It’s a killer guest list . . .
DANI: Sophie’s new stepmother who’s been plagued by self-doubt ever since the birth of her own baby girl
ÓRLAITH: the superstitious Irish nanny who senses a looming danger in this cavernous house
MIKAYLA: the birthday girl’s best friend who is not nearly as meek as the popular kids assume
KIM: the cunning ex-wife who has a grudge she can’t let go of . . .
Everyone is invited in. Not everyone will get out alive.

I absolutely did not see this one coming! This book was loaded with domestic suspense, controversy and mystery. I never would have thought a Sweet 16 Birthday Party could be so exciting.
This author's debut has me wanting MORE from her and soon! I loved this book. It had me hooked from beginning to end- and what an ending...
Put this book on your TBR list. You won't want to miss it!

Thanks to #NetGalley and #MacmillanAudio for the book #PartyOfLiars by #KelseyCox. This book is really good with all the back stabbing, revenge and murder. Sophie is turning sixteen and her father is going all out on her sweet sixteen party. Her alcoholic mother is attending as well as her new step mom, who has been having her own issues lately. But just as they are about to blow out the candles, someone falls to their death. Who could it be and why

A grand, Texas-sized Sweet Sixteen celebration takes a dark turn in this gripping new novel, offering a unique spin on the classic locked-room mystery. Let the party commence…
Today marks Sophie Matthews’s sixteenth birthday, celebrated with an exclusive black-tie event nestled in the picturesque Texas Hill Country, where secrets run as deep as the ancient live oaks. Sophie's father has gone all out, transforming their cliffside mansion—once rumored to be haunted—into the venue for the season's most anticipated gathering. Just as the candles on the extravagant three-tiered red velvet cake are about to be extinguished, a shocking event occurs: a body plummets from the balcony onto the dance floor below, illuminated by the stars.
The guest list is as intriguing as it is dangerous. There’s DANI, Sophie’s new stepmother, grappling with insecurities since the arrival of her own daughter. Then there's ÓRLAITH, the superstitious Irish nanny who feels an ominous presence in the vast house. MIKAYLA, Sophie’s best friend, is far more assertive than her popular peers realize. And finally, KIM, the clever ex-wife, who harbors a lingering resentment. Everyone is welcomed into the celebration, but not all will make it out unscathed.

Thank You @Netgalley and @ Macmillan Audio for allowing me to review this ARC.

Party of Liars is an entertaining thriller that takes place at a Sweet Sixteen in Texas. The audiobook is a full cast with multiple POVs that keeps the listener engaged.
I did have a hard time keeping up with the various characters at some points and I think the book could have been shorter to avoid the plot tiring out before it was over.
I wasn't surprised by the ending, but did enjoy this book.

This was a slow but with a lot of characters and POVS. It had some suspense but really didn’t fulfill the potential in my opinion. Kinda blah

This was an easy binge read with a chilling atmosphere type setting but unfortunately what started strong didn’t end that way. The paranormal aspect lost me and it was more a drama than a thriller

Five stars! Party of Liars was such a twisty, addictive listen. The story pulled me in right away with its eerie setting, messy secrets, and tension that built with every chapter. I loved the way the characters were slowly unraveled—no one was exactly who they seemed.
The audiobook narration was excellent and made the drama even more intense. It kept me completely hooked from start to finish.
Huge thanks to NetGalley for the chance to listen to this one—it was a wild ride!

I went into Party of Liars completely blind. The cover was enough for me to know that I NEEDED to get my hands on this book! Big thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. Going in blind, I had no idea what to expect, I didn’t know WHAT had happened-just that SOMETHING happened and to me, literally EVERYONE was suspect at one point or another. I don’t want to reveal too much because I feel like this is the perfect book for someone to go in completely blind—but if you love a good who-done-it with a side of tea and gossip, this is the book for you. I can’t wait for this to release because I need the physical copy on my shelf ASAP.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this audio book ARC opportunity!
I found this book to be unique in that it continually carried tension, with the underlying question of who is lying and who can you trust. There are multiple POV’s, all female character, with different personalities - some you’ll like, some you won’t trust, and some you might not be fond of. The characters had depth which is something I don’t always find in psych thrillers.
I will definitely read a book from this author again!

Party of Liars by Kelsey Cox was an audio arc with all the bells and whistles. As a long-time audio listener (think 1980s with a huge Sony Walkman and excessively large headphones), I am always excited when there is more than one narrator. This one is absolutely fabulous with an entire cast of voices. Dan Bittner, Kate Handford, Pearl Hewitt, Saskia Maarleveld, and Suzy Jackson were all great at voicing their characters and use of multiple narrators make audiobooks even easier to digest. Thank you Macmillan Audio for the extra effort of an ensemble.
The story is set in a haunted house as a sweet 16 party for an extremely wealthy family. Told in reverse, we know a murder takes place and the story unfolds slowly over the course of 11 hours. The characters are fleshed out, the slow unveiling of their individual stories, the superb setting …… all of it make for a great read.
I was unfamiliar with author Cox but would happily read anything she writes.
