I swear Jessica Townsend must have magically known I’m in the midst of my fantasy mystery era because this long-awaited sequel was the perfect genre-mash at the perfect time for me and I am here for it.

A little different from the earlier three; the books are maturing and Mog is entering teendom big-time. I would still consider it middle-grade at this point, but I suspect later books will mature as Morrigan grows, much like the HP books did.

I will admit that it does suffer from mid-series syndrome a little, the stakes are much lower than previous instalments and the plot is primarily about Morrigan’s character growth. That being said, tonnes of backstory is unlocked and it gives so much scope to the world and Morrigan’s place in it and Townsend just has that special something that makes every corner of this world feel so magical.

Such a fun read! I love all of the Nevermoor books and the universe Jessica has created! I love the diversity of characters in this book and the fun offshoots of storylines also.
