Fight, Inside the Battle for the White House is an exciting account of the 2024 presidential election. Both authors detail the disastrous account of former president Biden's debate and where it lead the democratic party.
Many different parties wanted control, between the Clinton's, the Obamas and Nancy Pelosi.
The book also examined how Trump was able to keep control of the Republican party for nearly 10 years.
The book is a must for any political fan.

I recently listened to Fight: Inside the Wildest Battle for the White House, and wow—what a ride. Narrator Joe Knezevich was new to me, but he has the perfect voice for political nonfiction: clear, steady, and just the right touch of gravitas without being dry. He really elevated the material and made it easy to stay engaged.
The book itself is obviously well-researched, pulling in multiple perspectives and insider accounts. You get a real sense of how chaotic, calculated, and frankly, ego-driven the 2020 presidential race was. One thing that stuck with me is how the book quotes conversations with such incredible detail. It does make you wonder: Do people actually remember what was said, word for word, with that much clarity? Or is it more of an educated reconstruction for narrative effect?
As for the content—it doesn’t really paint Biden as the flawless “hero” of the story. In fact, it raises legitimate questions: Did Biden truly believe he was the best person for the job, or was it more about legacy and ego? That ambiguity adds depth to the book and keeps it from feeling like partisan fluff.
What I appreciated most were the explorations of second- and third-order effects—the ripple impacts of decisions made during the campaign. It gives you a behind-the-scenes look at not just what happened, but why, and how those choices shaped the outcome.
In short: if you’re interested in politics, power dynamics, and the human egos behind historic events, this is a compelling and thought-provoking read.

Fight is a powerful, behind-the-scenes look at the raw intensity, high stakes, and personal sacrifices of a modern political campaign. Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes present a compelling and deeply human narrative that goes beyond headlines and soundbites, offering insight into the people behind the podiums—their doubts, their drive, and the emotional toll of the battle.
What stood out most to me was the vulnerability woven throughout the story. This wasn’t just about strategy or power plays—it was about resilience, ambition, and the complex personalities navigating a relentless political landscape. The audiobook narration was smooth and well-paced, capturing both the gravity and the nuance of the material.
While at times dense with insider detail, the emotional undercurrent kept me invested. It’s a sobering reminder of how deeply personal the political world can be—and how those in the fight often carry invisible burdens the public never sees.
Thought-provoking, informative, and unexpectedly moving.
Thank you to NetGalley, Johnathan Allen, Amie Parnes, and Harper Audio for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This books provides an in depth review of the 2024 election and all of the behind the scenes stuff that happened before the public learned Joe was dropping out, who the Democrat candidate would be, as well as Trump's campaign, and the assassination attempt he survived.
It was interesting, and well narrated.
Thank you to the publisher and net galley for my free ARC in exchange for my honest review.

The book was entertaining but whenever reading these books one has to approach it with an open mind. This book swayed a certain way but nonetheless it was interesting to read. I had the chance to listen to this book in audio form and the narrator did a good job.
I want to thank @NetGalley and @HarperAudio for letting me listen to the audio version of this book.

Inside the Wildest Battle for the White House by Jonathan Allen & Amie Parnes details, through the interviews of over 150 participants the inner workings of the Harris, Biden and Trump campaigns during the 2024 elections. While it is a great accounting of what was reported in the news, there is no new information that is learned by the reader that has not already been reported.
The narration by Joe Knezevich was sell done and did keep me engaged .
Thank you HarperAudio Adult | HarperAudio for the opportunity to listen to this ALC. All opinions are my own.

Fight Inside the Wildest Battle for the White House by Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes
Audio Version
Overall Grade: B
Information: B
Writing/Organization: B-
Narration: B
Best Aspect: This was more factual than about taking sides. A very detailed telling of the 2024 US Presidential election drama.
Worst Aspect: Some things seem hard to know and stating one of the candidates feelings isn’t something I enjoy hearing from another person.
Recommend: Yes.

This review is for the audio edition of Fight. I want to thank the authors, Harper Audio, and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to an advanced review of this new work. I attest this review is my own original work.
This is a very interesting read, and I comment authors authors Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes for doing a good job balancing the election of 2024 which will be debated and studied for decades to come. As the cover suggests, this is about Biden, Trump, and Harris, the three candidates fighting to be the 47th President of the United States.
The loser in this book (and ultimately the election) is to me the Democratic Party, which tried to hide Joe Biden's age-related weaknesses and then after the most disastrous televised debate in U. S. history., moved to remove the sitting President from the ballot. without any sort of open process. Instead, bowing to even more political pressure, they bet the house on Kamala Harris who was not prepared nor ready to assume the mantle from Biden.
Trump comes across as the hero in this book, largely by surviving two different assassination attempts, and staying quiet (hard for him to do) and letting the Dems self-destruct. Trump is not flawless, and his vanity and shrewdness are detailed by the authors. Trump was always second-guessing his aides, and fretting about the polls as election day neared.
Back to the Democrats--the election ended up with a lot of damaged relationships. Biden ends up hating just about everyone--notably former President Barack Obama and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. They have no lost for Sleepy Joe. Harris felt betrayed by Biden during the shortened election campaign she had to fight, and could never really connect with the voters she needed to convince to rally around her.
Here we are over 100 days into the Trump II administration, and he has the Democrats and much of the world reeling with an endless barrage of executive orders, a tariff trade war, and the largest effort to stop illegal immigration in history. The Democrats have no response, and no party leader or spokesperson has emerged except for an oligarchy tour featuring Bernie and AOC that's just more of the same bashing. There is a lot of infighting and finger-pointing going on with the blue party.
Will the Republicans take advantage of the opportunity in front of the Red Party to further build the coalition Trump won on in November? Or will they self-destruct over tax cuts and other priorities.
If you like reading about politics you should add this book to your reading list. There are a lot of fascinating items brought out here that didn't make the mainstream media. Wonder why?
.

I had high expectations for this book because I saw one of the authors interviewed on TV but I didn't really learn anything beyond that new clip. If you are expecting a balanced narrative you might be disappointed there was definitely a slant towards the left.

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperAudio for this advanced audio copy.
"Fight" is an in-depth look at the 2024 presidential election, hitting three major milestones: Biden dropping out of the race, Harris's whirlwind campaign and how Trump had to switch tactics, and the election itself.
As someone who follows politics both professionally and personally, reliving this experience, especially with it still being so fresh, was jarring. I remember the sense of hope Democrats felt when Harris took the helm and how excited we all were. Then it all came crashing down. Despite the devastation we all felt, I, like a lot of people, love me some good gossip, so getting to peek inside this process scratched that itch.
Amie Parnes and Jonathan Allen gathered and reported on a lot of great info and shed a new light on both campaigns. I enjoyed the writing style and breadth of knowledge and sources included.

I heard the author speak at a book festival earlier this year. How you receive his excellent work will likely depend on your political perspective. I found it a grim tale told exceptionally well. For those who want an inside look at 2024 and the election this is worthwhile. It’s is not an easy account to digest.

Thank you NetGalley and Harperaudio for the audio ARC
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I enjoyed the audio part enjoyed the narrator and no complaints at all. It is a long book so I was glad to have it on audio.
If you’re interested in learning more about the 2024 election and the fall of Joe Biden this book explains it all. It was a very interesting and informative listen.

Good review of the last presidential campaign. A very in-depth look at what went on behind the scenes in the campaigns.

Well... this was a depressing read. There is some extraneous "gossip" that seems to actually be the authors' opinions disguised as fact, but most of it seems to be pretty factual. This book is worth the read. It is the first of the 2024 campaign books to be released that is written by journalists with a track record in this area. There have been others released that seems toxic and gossipy with no real story. I look forward to the next book with proven journalists (2024: How Trump Retook the White House and the Democrats Lost America - coming July 2025) to see how much is agreed upon between the two.

Interesting behind the scenes take on the drama from the last election, I thought the narrator was an excellent choice -- nonfiction can be tough as it can be quite monotonous in the hands of a bad narrator. Would definitely recommend this to listen to for those who can't get enough of political machinations.

Fight: Inside the Wildest Battle for the White House provides behind the scenes commentary on what was going on with the Biden, Trump and Harris campaigns during the leadup to the 2024 Presidential election. Because I enjoy political books, this is one I had eagerly awaited.
I realize that more books relating to this once in a lifetime election will be forthcoming and one will likely be considered the most definitive. While there’s no way to know just yet if this will be the Fight book, I do consider it to be a very good account.
I decided before I ever started Fight that I wanted to consider it from a viewpoint as to how well it might hold up 20 years from now, at a time, presumably, when the issue as to whether a reader loves or hates Donald Trump would no longer be relevant. This was important to me as there can be no telling of this story without commentary on Biden’s age-related issues or Trump’s grievances and judicial challenges. In my opinion (and I expect the jury to be split on this), the book succeeds as it does minimize the biases of authors.
While I greatly enjoyed the book, I wasn’t surprised with anything I read about Trump or Harris. What did catch me off guard was the portrayal of Biden and the extent to which his ego, and his family’s desires, played such a big role in determining how everything ultimately played out. It was also interesting to learn where other prominent Democrats fell on the questions of whether to encourage Biden to drop out and whether to support the Harris campaign.
The narration of this book is excellent. I’d highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading about politics and is able to look past the bad things said in passing about their favorite candidate.
Thanks to HarperAudio Adult and NetGalley for providing me the opportunity to listen to Fight: Inside the Wildest Battle for the White House. The above opinions are my own.

This book was published way too soon and with way too little 'new' information. If you paid attention to the news, you're not learning anything new. Almost all of the information was public already, and anything 'new' was just anonymous thoughts by people who aren't willing to go forward because it happened literally 6 months ago and they still work these jobs. I'm infuriated by how the Democratic Party and Joe handled this, but I already was. Don't waste your time.
Thank you to HarperAudio and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 Stars (Outstanding)
Setting: 2024 US Presidential Race
Genre: Political Nonfiction; Investigative Journalism; Narrative Nonfiction
Fight is a gripping, behind-the-scenes political thriller disguised as nonfiction. Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes once again prove they are masters of insider reporting, delivering a stunning, unfiltered chronicle of the 2024 presidential race—one of the most chaotic, consequential, and jaw-dropping elections in American history.
From the first page, Fight pulls you into the raw intensity of a campaign season that shattered norms and rewrote the rules. The authors provide a rare fly-on-the-wall perspective of a political landscape in upheaval: a sitting president stepping aside, a former president battling legal crises and an assassination attempt, and a vice president thrown into a whirlwind 107-day campaign that few saw coming.
Allen and Parnes’ access is unmatched. Their interviews with over 150 key players—spanning the Biden, Trump, and Harris camps—allow them to paint a vivid, nuanced portrait of ambition, loyalty, betrayal, and resilience. The prose is sharp and cinematic, capturing the emotional weight and moral complexity of the decisions being made in real time. It’s not just a story of strategies and speeches; it’s a story of people at their most raw and real.
What makes Fight especially compelling is how it moves beyond the headlines to explore the personal toll of power struggles—on relationships, reputations, and legacies. The depiction of President Biden’s internal battle to stay in the race, Trump’s ruthless political instincts, and Harris’s sudden thrust into center stage is both dramatic and deeply human.
This isn’t just political reporting—it’s history unfolding in real time, told with clarity, urgency, and insight. Whether you’re a political junkie or just trying to make sense of this pivotal moment in American life, Fight is essential reading. Five stars, and then some. #netgalley #fight #booked_this_weekend

Fight is the in-depth retelling of the 2024 election starting with the debate between former President Trump and current President Biden, and ending just post the election. It is filled with meticulous research, behind the scenes moments and never before heard tales of the candidates posturing to secure the presidency.
Wow. Just wow. This was an incredible listen! Almost all Americans know the basic story, but this book details behind the scenes insight into Biden’s ouster as candidate and what it took to get him to drop out of the race, who was behind it and how it went down. We also learn the ins and outs of both Harris and Trump's campaign. This book is a gem. It’s a juicy, soap opera , detail rich ride that readers will adore. I loved it so much and will be recommending it!
