4.25 rated up! Ms. V’s Hot Girl Summer was the hottest thing I’ve read in a minute. This book packed high heat and high emotions in such a small package. I love Trinidad’s narrator. She did a phenomenal job, and I loved her ability to capture the growth of Trinidad throughout the book. Orlando was such a simp for her in the best way. He acknowledged that age had a bearing on maturity in their relationship, but it wasn’t a valid enough reason to not try but not in a way that pushed Trinidad beyond her comfort. He was her comfort in every way. Orlando’s narrator was so fun and captured his essence beautifully. I really look forward to listening to more books that feature these two narrators, especially because they captured the Spanglish perfectly which is not a small feat.

Thanks Harlequin Audio for my advanced listening copy!!

Ohhh, this was a perfect read as we head into sunnier days! Ms. V's Hot Girl Summer was a solid 4 star for me, it's an insta-love, which I don't mind at all. I was engaged the whole time and the narrators did a phenomenal job with bringing Trinidad and Orlando to life. All hats off to Esme Ramos and Jesus E. Martinez.

Ms. V’s Hot Girl Summer was fast-paced, funny, and yes, hottttttt! Trinidad (35yo single mom) gets tricked into a getaway by her teens, only to find out it was a setup with Orlando (25yo mentor to her kids and a snack lol). Was it Insta-lust? Yes. Did I devour it? Absolutely.

I will say, Trinidad calling him a “kid” or “child” one too many times had me side-eyeing her like ma’am… stop acting like you’re a grandma, 35 is not old. He’s a good man Savannah , a good man!lol

But overall, this was a super fun, spicy read with two perfect epilogues that had me smiling. Loved it!

Thank you Harlequin Audio & Netgalley for the ALC!

Review: Ms. vs Hot Girl Summer

I love how her boys set her up when they saw she deserved real happiness and not just something convenient. It was beautiful to see them recognize her worth and push her toward something more meaningful. Even with the age difference, the chemistry was undeniable, and the emotional connection they built felt natural and deep. I appreciated how both characters brought their own baggage, yet chose to show up for each other anyway. The story was sexy, sweet, and full of heart—and it reminded me that love doesn’t always come in the package we expect, but it shows up exactly when we need it.

What happens when an overworked mom runs into a super charming young mentor at a carnival? It kicks off a hot summer that’s going to last way longer than just one season!

As Aaliyah said, “Age ain’t nothing but a number,” and Orlando is all about showing Trinidad that he’s everything she could want and more. I loved watching Orlando as he applied pressure, and I found myself yelling at Trinidad to get out of her own head and stop stressing about creating this perfect life. Especially since that man was as dry as day old bacon. If you’re looking for a laid-back read to dive into on a chill summer weekend, this book might be just what you need!

Listen... Ms. V’s Hot Girl Summer was a whole vibe. As a Jamaican, I could feel the culture oozing off the page; from the carnival scenes to the language, it felt real and rooted. I loved that. The main character, Ms. V herself, gave grown woman confidence with a side of sass and ambition. I saw her, felt her, and rooted for her every step of the way.

Now, would I be running down a 25-year-old in my 40s? Absolutely not! But it looked good on her, and the whole story was a sweet, breezy ride. Cute, fun, and unapologetically Caribbean. I see you, Ms. V! 🔥

Fun, easy summer read! I enjoyed the audio and thought the story overall was cool. I’m a huge fan of this author and believe there is better in her catalog but this story will do for the available reader.

4/5 - Thank you so much to Netgalley and Harlequin Audio for this Advance listener copy of Ms. V's Hot Girl Summer. The narration and the pacing was perfect! Omg, even the accents had me feeling like summer time fine. I thoroughly enjoyed every second of this book!

First of all - this is the best story for the summer and finding your groove back! I am not a big fan of age gaps, HOWEVER, this book might make me a believer! The chemistry between Orlando and Trinidad is palpable. I felt it from the beginning! Ya'll - this audio book had you RIGHT IN THE MIX. I was in the room baby!

My only criticism is that sometimes Trinidad was acting like she was a million years older than Orlando but also was seeing a guy with the same age gap in the opposite direction - sis?? it's giving hypocrite. LOL.

One Sentence Summary - Trinidad and Orlando end up on a trip together, where they are both able to let loose from the responsibilities that plague them in their regular lives and experience each other & Carnival Weekend!

I would recommend this book to people who are into "I'm here for a good time, not a long-time vibes," insta-love/lust, age gap romances, steamy/spicy scenes with characters with unmatched chemistry, and both characters being able to lean on each other.

DNF - not having luck with my ARC reads this weekend! I didn't love the plot for this one, and the age gap wasn't working for me unfortunately. I do love the idea of a Carnival based plot and really hope this works for others!!

I locked in and LOVED this audiobook so much! Trinidad and Orlando were characters completely different yet similar in their nature. Each facing different challenges and phases of their life, yet each shoulder responsibilities of their whole family. Their journey with love, healing, and rediscovery was an endearing experience that teaches you a lesson about living. I love these two so much 🥰

Cunningham does an amazing job balancing the characters emotions and depth in ways where you immediately endeared to them. Additionally the representation of Caribbean & Afro-Latine culture was so powerful and a cinematic experience.

It may not be summer yet, but the weather is getting nice and it’s the perfect time to get a preview of more to come with Ms. V’s Hot Girl Summer by A.H. Cunningham. Single mom Trinidad Velasquez is looking to finally settle down with a man years after her divorce. She tries to ignore her attraction to Orlando Wiggins, the mentor to her teen sons and a man who is ten years her junior. He similarly hides his attraction to her. But when her kids set them up on a Parent Trap styled vacation for two during a Carnival celebration, they just might need to give in to their mutual interest.

Why I Chose This Book:
I enjoyed A.H. Cunningham’s previous book, Out of Office, and the description for Ms. V’s Hot Girl Summer really piqued my interest. Carnival celebrations, a single mom, age gap romance? Yes please!

What I Liked:
- Focus on family. Trinidad is mother to her 15-year-old twin sons, and between them and her job, she struggles to find time for herself. She’s trying to settle down with someone practical… but they guy she’s been seeing isn’t connecting with her sons (or her, to be honest). Orlando has been caring for his mother and two younger brothers for years. He’s also just found out he has a 5-year-old daughter whom he’s desperate to meet. Trinidad and Orlando have a lot to connect over when it comes to caring for their families.
- Parent Trap vibes! Speaking of families… Trinidad’s sons have clearly picked up on the mutual interest between their mom and Orlando. They seem to approve, since they basically send her to him in an effort to get them together. Cute and fun!
- Age gap romance. I don’t read that many age gap romances, and even fewer that feature an “older” woman. (Not calling Trinidad old, by the way! She’s basically my age lol… and I still feel quite young, thank you very much.) Their 10-year age difference is a major concern for Trinidad, even if Orlando doesn’t feel the same way. How can they be on the same wavelength if they’re at such different life stages? How can they navigate that disparity together?

Audiobook:
Esme Ramos and Jesus E. Martinez narrate as Trinidad and Orlando, respectively. Both do a marvelous job of bringing their characters to life. Esme captures Trinidad’s stressed, no-nonsense attitude and her sultry side equally well. The part where she’s rather tipsy is well done too (haha). Jesus brings a bright timbre and conversational narration to Orlando, highlighting his youth an positivity.

Final Thoughts
Ms. V’s Hot Girl Summer is a wonderful escape that’s steamy and empowering. I really enjoyed the focus on family, making a real connection that will last, and opening up about your needs to loved ones. This is a perfect read for this time of year. So far I’ve loved both of the A.H. Cunningham books I’ve read and I look forward to the next one.

I like me a good immersive read. Thankful for my eARC and aARC of Ms. Vs. Hot girl summer by ah Cunningham. Talk about this cover! this was a fun read, and i see a lot of myself in Trinidad. The glaring difference between me and her, though, is I dont let anyone F with my travel, not my mama, bestie, partner, son, nobody. So I'm happy that Ms V not only addressed her past but got her happy endingsss. Give me an Orlando over Milton any day. Im excited to try some of the recipes and can't wait to attend a carnival one day! Thanks ah Cunningham for a good fun story. Look forward to the rest of the world to enjoy on publishing day.

HOT HOT HOT!!!

An age gap but SHE’S the sexy, single mom…say LESS!

This is a perfect read (and listen) for the summer! It’s fast paced but the characters and story are beautifully fleshed out. The romance was lovely and I’m so happy to see Ms. V get the man who will treat her right 😉. I wanted to insert myself into the story and go party and dance with Trinidad and Orlando. And let’s give it up for the friends who help these two work out their feelings.

Esme Ramos and Jesus E. Martinez sizzle in their narration and I cannot recommend the audiobook enough. Their voices are smooth and easy to listen to. I definitely need want to find more audiobooks narrated by both of them.

Thank you Harlequin Audio and NetGalley for an early copy!

Although a little far fetched, this slight riff on How Stella Got Her Groove Back is enjoyable. At times the dialogue is less than believable but all in it is fine.

This reminds me of how Stella got her groove back. A summer romance 🥰
Loved the narration and the entire story line.

Ms. V’s Hot Girl Summer is a bit insta-love/insta-lust-y, and the pacing is a little wonky, especially in the beginning where the reader is thrust into a dynamic that both already exists and is rapidly expanding. It took me a little bit to get my footing here because of it, but I eventually got sucked in because I found both Trinidad and Orlando to be such interesting, engaging characters, that even when they messed up/hurt the other person I still rooted for them to figure things out and actually had faith that it would happen in a way that made sense in their dynamic.

I will say I didn’t like the storyline of Trinidad’s teenaged sons and adult best friend conspiring to have her fly out to a place under false pretenses without proper lodging or transportation. I have anxiety so that made me feel horrified and I almost felt like it was hateful LOL. But kids are impulsive and short-sighted, so I ultimately felt like this was a realistic way of behaving from boys that age.

Speaking of age, this is an age-gap romance, but I promise you it’s a much bigger deal to Trinidad, who acts like she’s seen as a church mother named Mabel for the crime of being 35 years of age, which is so incredibly young—and such a *regular* age gap in age gap romances—I was confused that she kept harping on it. Orlando was more mature than most 25-year old men (I’m assuming; I know approximately zero 25-year-old men) because he had some family trauma/oldest of immigrants child syndrome and had to grow up fast, but sometimes his age shone through in realistic ways. In fact, Trinidad behaved pretty immaturely when it came to talking things out and her deciding things unilaterally for their relationship at times.

The storyline with Milton was such a waste; he didn’t want to be there and no one in the story wanted him around deep down either. I wish that storyline had been cut out entirely to be honest. The storyline of Orlando and his former friend (phrasing this way to avoid a spoiler) also suffers this same feat because it’s upsetting that yet another person in Orlando’s life made a unilateral decision that impacted him greatly. However, it has a much sweeter, more fulfilling end result, so I ultimately loved it, and how supportive Trinidad was in this capacity. The end chapters were my favorite!

Overall, I found this to be quick, flirty, hot summer read, and I loved the Caribbean representation! The narrators were dope too!

Thank you to Harlequin Audio and NetGalley for providing me with an ALC!

This is my second read from this author & I thought it was a cute & nice fluffy read.Trinidad is a 35 year old woman of twin boy teens (16) who trick her into a Caribbean Carnival vacay so she can run into their mentor Orlando. These two had chemistry practicality the first day their eyes landed on one another but Trinidad aka Ms.V is very hesitant bc he’s a decade younger then her. The narrators were great to listen to they really brought the story to life & I thought overall the story was cool. I liked that Orlando storyline was about being the eldest in his family taking care of his mom & how he was ready to live his life now that his siblings were older. I wish we got more from Ms. V because I felt like her backstory would have been really interesting. Although this is my second read from this author & I’m definitely will check out more. This is my honest review in exchange of this complimentary copy.

. First of all—can we talk about how gorgeous the cover of this book is? Bright, bold, and vibrant, it perfectly matches the mood of the story. And the rich, detailed descriptions of Caribbean island life had me mentally packing a bag—A.H. Cunningham does a fantastic job of setting the scene and capturing the energy of Carnival.

This book was pretty good overall—it held my attention and definitely brought the heat. If you’re into spice, Ms. V’s Hot Girl Summer delivers scene after scene of steamy moments. That said, some parts of the storyline felt a bit far-fetched. The idea of a mother being tricked into a full-blown vacation without any details stretched believability for me.

The narration was solid. Both Jesus E. Martinez and Esme Ramos gave good voice distinction between characters. I especially appreciated the authentic-sounding Spanish from both. However, I did find some of Martinez’s accents to feel a little forced or out of place at times.

This wasn’t my first read from A.H. Cunningham, and while it had its moments, it didn’t quite live up to the expectations I had going in. Still, it was a fun, fast-paced listen with plenty of heat.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

Thank you to Harlequin Audio for the advance listening copy

Ms. v’s Hot Summer is a Cute Age Gap where Trinidad is older than Orlando who just happens to be her son’s mentor. They both have feelings for each other but are hesitant because of the age difference.

I loved Orlando’s relationship with her twins because he saw them as they were. The twins pushed their mom to enjoy herself and it just so happens to be where Orlando is. Orlando was patient with Trinidad with her hesitation with starting a relationship. Trinidad taught Orlando to open up, speaking up about needing help and allowing people to support him.

Trinidad drove me nuts because she kept talking about their age. Overall a good read!
