Thank you to Tantor Audio and Chloe Chastaine for the gifted ALC of The Flame King’s Bride! All opinions are my own.
Having read this book before, I was so excited to see the audiobook was going to be released. Unfortunately, I don’t feel like the inflections the narrators provided in this audiobook were up to par with the story itself. This book is steamy even in regular scenes and is heavy on the spice, so to have the narrator's use little to no emotion when reading the book and remain monotone was off-putting.
That being said, the story itself is well done. I liked the pacing, although it starts off slower when building up to the big conflicts in this book. I really enjoyed how many different characters we got to meet and how much the world grew in this book. There are aspects of this book's plot that are super unique that I haven’t seen in other fantasy/romantasy stories. If you’re looking for a spicy little omega-verse with an interesting plot, then I highly recommend this series!

I received this ALC from Netgalley for my honest review. So of course I had to get the first book. I am happy that the male narrator was changed as I couldn't get into the previous one. Both books end on such a cliffhanger that you must read the next to know what happens. So although this isn't a series for everyone as it is a weird dominating/love you baby type fantasy. I can get on board to see how the series ends.

While I had not read the first book, listening to this one I could still understand the world. It was a really good audiobook and I can’t wait to go back and read/listen to book one and then come back to this one.

Thank you to NetGalley and Tantor Audio for the advance audiobook of The Flame King’s Bride.
I was really excited for this sequel, especially after enjoying the first book so much—but unfortunately, this one didn’t quite live up to the momentum of the series opener. The narration was excellent—the performers brought great energy and emotion to the story, which kept me engaged even when the plot started to lose steam.
While the world-building and fantasy elements remain strong, the story itself felt a bit flat. The pacing dragged in places, and some of the emotional beats didn’t hit as hard as I hoped. I was invested in the characters from the start, but their development here felt somewhat repetitive compared to book one.
Still, fans of dragon fantasy romance and Omega/Alpha dynamics may find plenty to enjoy, especially in audio format. Just go in with slightly tempered expectations if you were hoping for the same spark as the first installment.

This was so much fun! Lovely story and a really good magic system. good romance and that cliffhanger?! Wow

Some books are plot with spice, some are spice with plot. The Flame Kings Bride feels like it was trying for the former, but decidedly falls into the latter category.
Unfortunately I felt that much of the world building and plot progression fell flat in this installment, as so many of the building blocks were glossed over in The Flame Kings Captive in favor of shock factor and spice. It’s hard to further a plot that wasn’t solidified in the first place. All of the plot twists seemed as though they were written on the fly, rather than as part of a carefully planned out story, and the story already seems long winded after just the second book. I love romance in all its forms, but I feel that this particular story is trying to do too much with its plot to be as singularly focused on the spice as it was. The romantic elements definitely took a turn for the worst as well. There got to be so much cringy dialogue that I was openly chuckling my way through most of the spicy scenes.
I think the rest of the series still has potential, but I feel that Chastaine needs to focus on quality over quantity in book three if she wants to further the plot she is currently developing. I do really want to find out what happens with Isavelle and Zabriel.
This was honestly the first audio book that I’ve listened to where I felt that the narrators did a complete disservice to the book. Because this was a very erotic romance, I expected more much more charisma than was present from either party. The characters deserved better than for their lines to be read as if recited from a dictionary during their intimate moments. The way that Marie Hawkins read “yes, yes” in Zabriels voice had me howling with laughter. Christian Leathermans performance provided few more inflections, and none of them were present for the spicy scenes either. I probably could have looked past it if this had not been such a spice-heavy book, but it really came across as though they were uncomfortable for much of the book.

I'm in aww of this book. Like what just happened. I need book three right now. That ending has me questioning everything. I loved this book so much. Zabriel and Isavelle are just such amazing characters, and I love watching their relationship grow over time. Her first heat was such a crazy whirlwind of things going on. I'm still speechless over this book. I highly recommend reading this series as it is a captivating series. The things that happen in this book were so cool, I loved seeing Isavelle grow as a witch, ruler, and mate. I love seeing the Maladeni people also growing into themselves as they are learning about their designations as well.

This book is basically a 5 for the vibes and the overall good time I had reading this. If you are looking for an amazing fantasy series that focuses on omegaverse, look no further. This is the second book in what I believe to be a trilogy and I enjoyed it even more than the first. The focus of this book is definitely the relationship between the Alpha Zabriel and his Omega Isavelle. This was my first foray into Omegaverse and I loved this and the first book Flame king’s captive. I definitely have to be in my smut reading mood to read this as it is very spicy. I love how protective they both are of each other and how much he still allows her to be her own person while being an omega. This book moved the story along and we got to see more of the world and there were some twists along the way. This book ended on a brutal cliffhanger and I am now salivating to read the next which i think(hope) is the final installment. The narrators for this book were simply amazing. They truly brought the story to life and I loved both voices and the narration style. If you are looking for a fun, sexy, fantasy ride then I can’t recommend this book and the overall series enough.

The Flame King’s Bride

The Flame King’s Bride was pretty hot!
The narration was top-tier, but I had some issues with the storyline. That may be just me since I normally don't listen to fantasy. Otherwise, it's a good audio listen.

Audiobook Review
🌟🌟🌟
I'm a mood reader, so I'm going to assume I'm just not in the mood for this book, but I highly doubt it. The Flame King Bride is book two in the Fire and Desire series, and book 1 should be read before this book. I didnt personally read book 1 (i wasnt confused about what was going on) but i DNF at 20% simply because nothing has happened beside Zabriel and Isavelle screwing because Zabriel in a rut and Isavelle heat is coming up. Normally I would be interested, but for some reason I'm not with this book.
I will attempt to listen to this book at a later time.
The narrators did a good job, they were easy to listen to and also understand. Listened at 2x speed.

Thank you, NetGalley, and RB Media for the audiobook in exchnahe for my honest review.

I got this as a duet narrated audiobook. This starts out with some spice I was not prepared for for this is also book 2, which is also something I didn’t realize when I started reading this, but they did a good job of going back and kind of explaining what happened in the first book so you could keep up with going on the second book Without being too confused.
I did enjoy this book a lot. I mean, you can’t go too wrong with some dragons and mates and stuff. This does end on a cliffhanger.

This book was a delightful blend of magic, dragons, and omegaverse elements—exactly my style! The fantasy world of dragons and riders met my expectations.
Isavelle was a standout character for me; I loved her straightforwardness. However, Zabriel didn’t resonate as much; his emotional depth felt lacking.
My main critique is that the plot meandered in the middle, with some scenes where the spice interrupted key moments, feeling repetitive at times. Despite this, I enjoyed the world and overall story arc and plan to continue the series!
I recommend this to fantasy romance fans who enjoy omega dynamics and dragons!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the audiobook!

If you like NSFW, dragons, fated mates, Alpha/Omega then this is for you. This book seemed more smut heavy than plot heavy, but this book was still very enjoyable to read. I felt that the MC in this book talked more about knotting and nest than anything else. It probably took up more than a 1/3 of the book. Don't get me wrong I love a good knotting and paranormal romance, but I felt that it took over more than needed. We got it after the first few times.
I also felt that the twist at the end was a little expected and needed to happen for the continuation of the story. I don't know if I will continue this series as I felt that I wasn't grabbed enough in the end. Yes, the smutt was good, but I'm more likely to grab a dark romance if I want a more smutt heavy book.

While this book may not have been specifically for me -BUT you are a fan of:
Dragons?
Spice?
A Sweet FMC?
A Broody MMC?
Fated Mates?
This book might be for you.
Unfortunately it did read a little too much like fan-fiction and relying on specific troupes.
I did enjoyed the fast paced nature of the book though and the audiobook narrators did a great job!

Thank you net galley
Such an amazing series! I loved everything about out this. If you are a fan of fantasy romance then you definitely need to listen to this! The plot and romance are equal amazing! Can’t wait to continue this :)

📖 Bookish Moments
This was such a fun mix of magic, dragons, and omega verse goodness — right up my alley. I love a fantasy world full of dragon and dragon riders and this book delivered on the tropes I was hoping for.
Isavelle was my favorite part of this book. I loved how she always spoke her mind. Zabriel, on the other hand… not my fave. His character just didn’t hit the same emotional depth for me!
My biggest critique is that the plot got a little lost in the middle. There were a few scenes where the spice kind of interrupted key story moments — and not always in a way that felt natural. Some felt repetitive, especially when they happened so close together.
But I still really enjoyed this world and the overall story arc. I’m definitely continuing the series!
"Where is my MATE?!?!?!?!"
🎧 Narration Style: Dual
⭐️ Audio Score: 3.5 stars
The audiobook didn’t totally work for me. I struggled with the male narrator’s tone. I liked the female narrator a lot more!
💭 Final Thoughts:
📚 Book Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🫶 Would still recommend this to fantasy romance lovers who enjoy omega dynamics, and dragons!!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the audiobook!

Audiobook Review of The Flame Kingʻs Bride by Lilith Vincent writing as Chloe Chastaine
Reviewed by Sally Matinfar
1. Introduction:
In this review, I will be discussing The Flame King’s Bride. It was quite a captivating tale of fantasy, romance and what the booktok and bookstagram community refer to as “spice”. I'll be diving into various aspects of the audiobook for a more in depth review.
2. Narration:
Marie Hawkins- Voice is clear and easy to understand and suits the tone of the book. It follows the first book perfectly. Narration is set at the same pace as the previous book. She uses appropriate inflections, tone changes, and emotional cues to match the story’s mood. She differentiate between characters effectively and brings the characters to life. Overall nothing short of exceptional as with the first audiobook.
Christian Leatherman- Voice is clear and easy to understand. However it’s clear that he’s not the same narrator as book one and has a different style of narrating than Edward black (book one Zabriel). He had appropriate inflections, tone changes, emotional cues to match the story’s mood. He differentiated between characters outstandingly and gives each character their own voice and personality. Overall a pristine portrayal of all the characters.
3. Audio Quality:
Clear and crisp with appropriate volume levels throughout the audiobook.
4. Storytelling:
The story itself offers an engaging and well paced storyline. The author excellently weaves together elements of fantasy and romance, building a world filled with dragons, witches, and desire. The plot has enough twists and turns to keep the listener hooked. The character development is strong, and the stakes feel real helping to keep the listener engaged.
5. Length and format:
Both were ideal for these genres.
6. Overall Experience:
My overall experience was positive due to a combination of the story line and both narrators performances. I will be looking forward to the third book coming to audio.
7. Conclusion-
I can definitely recommend this audiobook to anyone who loves Fantasy Romance. It has all the elements that make these genres fun, such as magic, spice and plot twists. I left a positive review under the book on Goodreads and Barnesandnoble.com
8. Thank you:
A big thank you to the publisher for giving me the chance to listen ahead of the release and allowing me to share my thoughts. I really appreciate the opportunity to review this audiobook. it was such a fun experience, and I can’t wait for others to enjoy it as well!

This is by no means a complex book w/ lots of depth- The premise of it all is fantastic, but when it all sort of pans out… It’s an alright read at best. All I know is, the spice was spicing- And we love that here lmfao. Although, there was a lack of personality from certain characters- I just feel like it could’ve been fleshed out a tad bit better. Overall, this was a fun read w/ fun narrators. The cliffhanger though?
My goodness 😮💨🤍

3 1/2 stars however I'd like the preface this by also saying I din't know this was book 2 when I started and I think this is a series you have to start from he beginning and read all books. It seems like a lot happens in book 1 and this book starts right off at the ending of the last book. I was label to follow almost everything but I can tell Im still missing a lot. The story was very interesting and I think I would have liked it more had ai actually stated with book 1.
Isavelle and Zabriel are mates but Isavelle has been taken. Knowing that Isabelle will be going into heat soon Zabriel is devastated and his one focus is to find her and keep her safe. There's also issues with Zabriel's people having a problem with who Isabelle is not like them causing more issues for Zabriel and Isabelle. When they think they may finally have everything they could have ever wanted betrayal hits this couple that may mean the end.
The first thing I thought of when I started this book was that it reminded me of an adult How To Train A Dragon🤣. This book was fun but again I for sure came in at a disadvantage that was 100% my fault. I really enjoyed the world created and you get some really great story buildups I'm guessing for books to come. This is a fun read and I really enjoyed the authors storytelling and I will always be a sucker for PNR.
Thank you Netgalley and Tantor Audio for the ARC
