Great story! High level of sex, knotting, alpha speak. I enjoyed from start to finish despite not reading the first book. This book did make me want to read the first book however!

Thank you, NetGalley, for the ALC of The Flame King’s Bride!
This audiobook had a lot going for it, especially with the dual narration. Both narrators did a fantastic job bringing the characters to life, adding depth and emotion that made the listening experience engaging. Their performances truly elevated the story, making it easy to sink into the world Chloe Chastaine created.
That being said, the story itself felt a bit repetitive at times. While the premise was intriguing, certain elements seemed to cycle rather than progress, which slowed the pacing. I enjoyed the dynamic between the characters, but I found myself wishing for more development and fresh twists to keep things moving.
Overall, this was an enjoyable listen with strong narration, and fans of fantasy romance might appreciate its immersive world and character-driven moments. While it didn’t completely wow me, it had its strengths, and I’d be curious to see what Chastaine writes next!

I loved this story! The writing was great and the storyline engaging. The ending though? I need to know what happens next. I am hooked!

Thank you NetGalley for the audiobook arc. The narrators did a good job bringing the characters to life and while I do love dual narrations this book is not my favorite. It’s definitely character driven just unfortunately too close to other books that I have read before. Girl gets saves by the supposed villain ends up being their fated mate, they fight the “pull” to them, they get capture or find they have hidden powers, rut happens and they go at it for days. The writing was okay for me and it was nice that it was more character driven then just knowing and rutting like some books and the mfc was not my favorite character. I give this book 3.5 but will round up to 4 cause it just wasn’t for me.

Did not finish because it was the second book in the series (not noted in the summary and it was not something you could read as standalone

Fantasy romance
Spicy
Wow. Ok this was really good. I had to go back and listen to the first book before listening to this. I hadn’t realized this was a second in series. The first book was slow burn material and about building the world and connection of the two main characters.
This book was everything that one wasn’t. This had the spicy spice sauce poured all over it.
Beware there is a heck of a cliffhanger! Need book three ASAP!
If you’re a fan of fantasy romance then this series is definitely for you.

If you enjoyed book one you are going to absolutely eat this up with a spoon! Our characters go through it! The way the spice is spread out throughout the adventure feels very well spaced to keep us wanting more. There are a lot of fun twists and that cliffhanger killed me. I can't wait for book three.

i liked this series a lot and the audio is definitely making the experience so much better! i’m really enjoying the story line

Book 2 of The Flame King's Captives in audiobook format is an absolute emotional rollercoaster. I’m still processing everything that happened. The cliffhanger left me stunned, and I’m left shouting “WHY?!” at my headphones. I never could have predicted that twist. I need answers, and I need them immediately.
First, Isavelle truly shines in this book. The narrator does an excellent job capturing her growth as she embraces her fate as the Omega mate of the Flame King, a witch, and a dragon rider. What I particularly love about her character is how she defies the typical Omega trope. Isavelle isn’t a passive or submissive figure; she’s a fierce, commanding queen who stands her ground while also being compassionate and loving. The narrator’s voice reflects this strength and independence, bringing Isavelle’s character to life with confidence and depth. It’s empowering to hear her challenge expectations in such a captivating way.
Next, Zabriel. In the first book, I was hesitant. While he was undeniably attractive, he came across as a bit too domineering for my taste. In book 2, however, he completely won me over. The narrator portrays him with a perfect balance of protectiveness, possessiveness, and tenderness. Zabriel’s willingness to let Isavelle be her own person adds layers to his character, making him both swoon-worthy and supportive. The narrator switches seamlessly between their voices, highlighting the chemistry between them, especially during their intimate moments. I can confidently say Zabriel has now earned his place as my book boyfriend.
The plot is another standout element. The story picks up significantly in book 2, with faster-paced action and higher stakes. New characters are introduced, and I’m left wondering who can be trusted. The narrator’s pacing heightens the suspense, keeping me hooked and on edge. The delivery of certain scenes adds an additional layer of tension, making every twist and turn even more thrilling.
I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook, even more than the first. It’s clear that the author is refining her craft—world-building, character development, and plot all come together in a much stronger way. The cliffhanger, though, has me desperate for answers. The narrator’s portrayal of the final moments was intense and gripping.
If you’re a fan of dragons, fated mates, unexpected plot twists, and complex characters, this series is for you. I’m anxiously awaiting book 3 because I absolutely need to know what happens next.
