Why can’t I give more than 5 stars?
Just finished BEES IN JUNE by Elizabeth Bass Parham.
Wow just wow! I loved this story about Rennie and her family! She has love surrounding her with great family and friends as she navigates death of an infant and domestic violence. She is guided by her Aunt’s beloved bees. The bees have a voice in the story! Elizabeth has captured this magic and woven a sweet tale of resilience. You’ll love it too!
Look carefully at the cover! It’s just perfect!
This book is not out until September 2, 2025 but Elizabeth’s debut novel, The Empress of Cooke County, is out now so don’t wait to enjoy her writing.
Thank you to author for an ARC for my Beyond the Pages Book Club AND to Netgalley for an early ebook.

I thoroughly enjoyed Rennie's journey as she learned to stand up for herself while also trusting others. The author does a small town setting super well, and the magical realism adds a charming touch. Tiny was a bit of a cardboard villain, but I was able to overlook that since I enjoyed the story so much. The novel includes just the right amount of bee facts and also Christian faith.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advance e-galley; all opinions in my review are 100% my own.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is set in a small southern town and Rennie is married to man who is becoming increasingly abusive. She often visits her aging Uncle Dixon on the neighboring farm. Uncle Dixon raises bees that have been know to alert loved ones of trouble or point them in the right direction. With the help of her friends and the bees Rennie learns how to stand up for herself and take control of her life.
I loved the baking aspect of this book as well as the magical realism. This is the author's second book and I'm already planning to go back and read her first novel.
Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for a copy of this book for an honest review.

I received a complimentary copy of this book.. Opinions expressed I this review are completely my own.
I loved this book and usually can not read a book visually as fast as I did this. I loved the characters and bees and nature.
I plan to send my group some quotes and comments that struck me. The power of the communication of nature with humans was amazing and spoke so many truths to me. I do not want to put any spoilers so I will save my notes for my Beyond the Pages friends to post in their ARC.

This book is both lighthearted and extremely emotional! It is not like any other book that I have ever read! This book has all the small town vibes, family stories, magic realism, love, happiness and sadness. It’s all about having a second chance at life and never giving up hope!
This book was written in 3rd person and did have a few year jumps into the past in it. I absolutely loved the female main character of the story, Rennie. She was so fragile at the beginning of this book and came out a strong and powerful woman! Her Husband Tiny treated her horrible and was the most disliked character in the book. I also loved Rennie’s Uncle named Dixon in this story, he is full of positive energy, inspirational, and full of family stories! I could just sit back and read Dixon’s stories forever!
I enjoyed the other characters in this story as well, besides Tiny. I even enjoyed all the bees in the story! This book gave us some knowledge on bees as well, which I really loved! Bees are special and crucial for our environment! This book does discuss religion in it as well. Be sure to read this book’s content warnings. Overall, I give this book 4 out of 5 magical bees!
Thank you to NetGalley, author Elizabeth Bass Parman and Harper Muse publishing for this digital reader’s advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book is expected to be published on September 2, 2025!

I knew that when i seen this book it was going to be good.
This quote reminds me of a saying that I used to say and still do. " If we were all the same this would be a boring world."
“God gave us a beautiful world and filled it with all manner of things for our delight. But if everything stayed the same, if we never lost anything or anyone we loved, we’d stop being thankful for what we’ve been given.
Oh my this certainly gives you a lot to think about doesn't it? Remmie's uncle certainly is a wise man.
These characters were a joy in getting to know and quite the story they have too!
I simply couldn't put this book down it was very good.
I'm giving this book 5 stars. I wish I could give it more. I highly recommend
