I received this advanced reviewer copy from Boldwood books! Thank you so much for the opportunity!
Tilly, an accidental and emergency room nurse, has seen it all and rarely experiences surprise. She is mostly happily single until her sister mentions having a second baby and her reckless bachelor roommate gets a girlfriend. This prompts Tilly to reflect on her future and her desires.
Just when she needs a break, a handsome newcomer, Dr. Lucas Milne, starts working in A&E. Tilly and Dr. Milne begin hanging out, but she can’t shake the feeling that something is off. Will she ignore the red flags or sweep everything under the rug?
This was a really cute and short read that was fairly enjoryable. As a nurse if it’s about a nurse, I’m reading it 😂. Talk about a little plot twist! The first half of the book definetly gave a different vibe than the second half of the book, which I found to be a bit odd. I believe the author is based out of the UK so some of the spelling of the words is different, but terms are easily understood. The book flowed well, and there were some truly hilarious moments. Would recommend!

Thank you NetGalkey and Boldwood Books for this Arc. This is a workplace romance in a novel which is not my usual cup of tea but it was enjoyable until it felt rushed at the end.
The sass and sarcasm of our main character Tilly feels very real for many who work in healthcare especially in the ER. Our initial MMC was also believable and the chemistry was there so it’s a shame that things took a turn and then sped towards a very different ending and felt rushed.
The pace was great and the writing was good but at no point did this suck me in and I found myself reading everything but this book many times over.

This was a nice, easy read. I didn't initially see where the book was heading - I had different thoughts as to I thought Tilly would end up with. I appreciate that the love she found was not obvious to me as a reader at first. I did have an inkling Luke was a bit sketchy though.
I really appreciate the opportunity to read your book, and would happily read more!

oh Pheobe is back. and when Phoebe brings out a book i am on tenterhooks in the hopes i get to read it. she knows how to give me all i could ever want from a read. she knows how to make me smile, cry and feeeeeeel a book. and boy did i feel this one.
i am also re watching Greys anatomy at the moment so well, you know...
the characters in this book all bought something to do the table. and i lvoe how we had our main character but the others in her life, the goodies, all played a part in what made you loe her story more. the interactions were spot on.
Tilly is an accident and emergency nurse. shes starting to question her "Happy being single" stance when she sees other in her life becoming not so single. then dr Luke turns up in her ward. and boy does he turn up. i didnt feel him at all. and i was panicking a bit. was Pheobe unwell when she wrote this? why was she giving us a romance i wasnt falling for or a man i saw red flag in. i shouldnt have worried, silly silly me. for this wasnt the romance you should have your heart set on dear reader. for what comes next is magic. and just what the Doctor ordered.
when Will came on the scene i was suddenly at ease, thinking yes this is more like it. there is of course more to come. more romance style angst to come. but i love reading every moment of it.
the tie in with Will to Jonathan had my heart growing even more and this was just the loveliest little meeting and friendship.
i was worried at one point that this book was going to give us our first male main character in a rom come who deff shouldnt be there. but i liked how in a romance there was such a twist. and thankful for this one.
another brilliant read. i cant imagine how Phoebe must feel when she turns and sees her books all up on a shelf. it must be the best feeling in the world and i hope she is major proud of them. we are lucky to have our authors. i thanks my lucky reading stars for their talents every day.

I loved this book! I usually am a sucker for medical romances. I got major Grey's Anatomy vibes from this book. I think anyone who loves medical shows/books should read this book. The author does a great job at not bogging readers down with medical jargon and it's engaging throughout the work. Very well done!

✨ rom com
✨ workplace romance

Summary: Matilda "Tilly"(34) is an Accident & Emergency nurse who meets Dr. Luke Milne-the new junior Dr.- on his first day @ Tunbridge Wells hospital. He is a caretaker for his mother Richenda but wants to get to know Tilly better. When Tilly's sister's Natasha "Tash" suspects Luke is hiding something, she investigates him. At the hospital a sweet and grieving husband (Jonathan Barwell) is admitted for an attempted suicide and overdose. When Tilly meets his son Will and gets to know him by going to Sunday dinners, sparks fly.
🥰 What I liked: Tilly and Tash's sisterhood, the found family with Jonathan and Will, Tilly's roommate Mike and his new girlfriend Sarah. I even liked how Dr. Patel and Dr. Rodgers respected Tilly's position and trusted her judgement more than Luke.
😞 What I didn't like: Cindy and Richenda-they have enabled Luke's behavior and had the nerve to blame Tilly. Tilly's mother was overbearing and a little toxic in how she treated Tilly. I had to look up some of the UK words which slowed my reading down.
⚠️TW: attempted suicide-not H/h, cheating-H, gaslighting, dyslexia, bullying, grief
🤔My Thoughts: I enjoyed this story even though there's a big shift in the MMC halfway through the book. Luke and Tilly carried on a love affair that crashed and seemed like a waste of time. I would rather Will had been the only MMC because he had a great story with his father, his ex-girlfriend, and his learning disability.

🙏🏿Thanks to NetGalley, Boldwood Books, and Phoebe MacLeod for this ARC! I voluntarily give my honest review, and all opinions expressed are mine alone.

As a former emergency room nurse in the U.S., I was curious to read a rom-com set in a UK hospital. I actually found some parts surprisingly relatable—emergency care has a kind of universal chaos to it, and it was fun seeing those parallels.
Tilly, the main character, is an ER nurse who ends up falling for a resident doctor. Without giving away spoilers, there’s a big twist involving his character—and honestly, I was pretty disgusted by him. I’m really glad things resolved the way they did.
That said, I struggled to fully connect with the story. As someone who worked in a professional medical setting, the way Tilly meets one of the other characters—a patient and his son—just didn’t feel plausible. It pulled me out of the story because it wouldn’t realistically happen that way. And the romance between Will and Tilly also felt like it developed out of nowhere. I didn’t feel the emotional build-up that makes you root for a couple.
Overall, it was a light and easy read, but I had a hard time staying invested in the romance or believing the setup, especially from a nurse’s perspective.

Tilly is a senior emergency room nurse who becomes involved with Luke, a new emergency doctor in her department. After that, things kind of go off the rails. I'll be honest, I struggled with this book. There was a nice amount of humor and the information about Tilly's job was interesting. But I questioned some of her decisions (as well as the decisions of those around her), and the book felt unfocused overall. The story starts out by jumping right into the emergency room action, and I hoped it would keep that kind of pace and level of interesting detail but the plot twists and meanders and the story never really grabbed me fully. The first and the second half of the book also feel disjointed from one another, which was a little disorienting. The character development overall wasn't all that deep (although it improved in the second half), and it made it hard to fully invest in anyone. I've read this author before and it's been a mixed bag for me in terms of reading satisfaction. I had a hard time finishing this book, and in the end I'm just not the best audience for this author. But if you're looking for a medium-paced romance with a large cast of characters and multiple sub-plots then this is the book for you. 2.5 stars rounded up to 3 stars. Publishes May 30, 2025. This review was based on a complimentary eARC, all opinions are my own.

"A very pleasant unexpected turn of events" perfectly describes this book.
Every page brought Tilly to life more vividly—she felt like someone the author knew personally. While I can't speak to the accuracy of the A&E scenes as a non-nurse, some parts seemed dramatised to enhance the story. Luke turned out to be a bastard, along with his entire family—which surprised me since I initially liked him. Will, on the other hand, was a delightful surprise: a sweetheart from the start.
The writing style compels you to read the book in one sitting. It manages to feel both infinite and too long at the same time—a paradox I'm still processing. The plot offers a fresh and innovative take on the genre in countless ways. A fabulous read.

Tilly is a nurse in the A&E Department, which leads to lots of funny stories from work, if not helpful to maintaining a love life. When she starts dating new doctor Luke, it seems like a great fit...except for Tilly's feeling that something isn't quite right.
This is the second Phoebe MacLeod novel that I've read - after Hook, Line and Single, and I think the strength of her novels is that it does feel like catching up with an old friend. The drama isn't beyond a crazy story from your best friend and the romance tends to evolve in a very true to life way. I did really enjoy the parts of the book that dealt with Tilly's work as an A&E nurse. This book is incredibly timely - The Pitt has got people interested in the day to day workings of emergency rooms, and Tilly has some laugh out loud incidents as a nurse.
I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoys a cozy, realistic romance.

Love, Accidentally by Phoebe MacLeod is a light hospital romance that seems to be as chaotic as the emergency department in which Tilly works. The first half of the book is spent with a relationship with the new ER doctor, Luke.
Right from the beginning this relationship seemed doomed to fail since Luke seemed to be too good to be true. We find out that is a fact and all of a sudden the story takes a 180 and sets off in another direction.
Suddenly she is in a new relationship with the son of a patient which seems to have that long slow sizzle that neither of them can pick up on. When it does happen, it happens fast and the book just seems to end, happily ever after.
This felt like two separate stories and could have been better spent making the first relationship a chapter of a failed relationship and spent more time perfecting the characters in the second half.
I did finish the novel as it was a light read even though the ending was a little flat for me.
Thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This wasn't my favorite and kind of dragged on for me. I'm not sure that anything about it stood out and it felt very chaotic and hard to follow the narrative easily that made me feel giddy like many romance books do. The way the learning disability was portrayed didn't sit well with me and felt very unauthentic. Overall, not my favorite and I won't be publicly reviewing for that reason.

Thank you so much for this early copy! This was an adorable read, and i loved the doctor and nurse dynamic. Also the cover is so pretty, rhay makes a difference!

I really loved this book. It was slightly less predictable than a standard romance which was refreshing, I enjoyed the characters and admired the main character for her choices and behaviours, and just found it a very comforting book to read

Overall I thought this book was good but the story line with the main female and the first love interest was fast and then had a huge truth come out. I felt like it was a bit rushed and then the way the relationship ended felt pretty rushed. I did like how with the second relationship that one seemed to have way more background and build up before the relationship started. Overall I thought it was decent. Thank you NetGalley and publisher for the ARC.

Unfortunately, I have to be honest and say that I really had trouble staying engaged with this book. There just wasn’t enough happening within the storyline to keep me coming back and there were so many filler conversations that I felt were unnecessary. Months would pass within the story and I wish we had more of an insight into what happened in those months and less mundane conversations. I also found it incredibly odd that the storyline with Luke, who the first half of the book entirely focused on, just ended. I get that he was a dirt bag and Tilly would never pursue a relationship with him but since the first half of the book was wrapped up with her exploring that relationship, I quite literally had no idea where the book was going to go from there.
Will’s character seems like an afterthought and I found the budding relationship between him and Tilly to be quite the stretch as they seemed to have zero connection or interest in each other for the longest time. Again, I wish we could have gotten more of their budding relationship and less of Luke.
Regardless, this one was a pass for me sadly. I know she had quite a few books out there so I’ll possibly explore those instead.

This book sounded like a cute hospital romance, but was impossible to enjoy from the beginning and has me calling it as a DNF at 25%.
I am truly confused by how this book is written where the most side and random events are described thoroughly in the present time, but then all the plot/ romance elements are like briefly summarized in dialogue to a friend after the fact.
I feel like as the reader I am a million miles away trying to get a hint as to what has happened between the two love interests :/

I read this in one go. Ok, two… OK three! I had to pick up daughter from school then cook tea… but I’m counting it as one!!!
It was such a cute quick read that just cleanses the palette. There’s drama, but nothing drawn out over 10 chapters where you’re wondering when it’s gonna end. It carried on a story while the first one was wrapping up. (Once you read, you’ll get it)
I *LOVE* the fact there was next to no description of the characters. Ages, slight mention of body size/shape, but nothing that you could really have a clear picture in your head. YES I LOVED THAT! Because you can draw your own pictures of what these characters looks were & make it fit your imagination.
Want Luke to look like Channing Tatum? GO FOR IT! (But I don’t recommend)
Want you to be Tilly? Live her life girl!
I honestly did not want to put it down. It was boom boom with the actions, drama, sorted, another bit of drama, done, crazy time, boom done… it didn’t faff around with idle …. Sorry, crap that some stories tend to do.
It was funny, sarcastic, lovely, wholesome (in a way) … and honestly, I just bloody loved it!
I did scream out I KNEW IT!!! more times than I’d like to admit…. But that’s neither here nor there….

2.5⭐️
This book was really not what I was expecting from the synopsis. It kind of felt like it was all over the place and the details in the synopsis ended up being more side plots rather than what the story was actually about. I wanted to like this one, and there were some interesting parts, but overall, I had a hard time getting through this and, in my opinion, found many parts boring. Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC in return for my honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley for the free ARC!
I was drawn to this book because it looked and sounded like a fun rom-com, but having just finished it, I wouldn't describe it as one. I'm not sure what I'd describe this book as. I'm honestly not sure what the point of the story was. It felt like we were just following the main character, Tilly, around for several months while she lived an average life.
The synopsis made it seem like her roommate getting a serious girlfriend and her sister wanting another baby were a major impetus for her to try to find a relationship. In realty, these were little side plots that didn't seem to have much impact on Tilly. The synopsis also made it sound like love had been right in front of her all along, and she just didn't see it. This doesn't match the story at all, either. Her relationship with one guy is going in a negative direction when the only other available male character is introduced at around the halfway point in the story.
There were some conflicts thrown in throughout the story, but none of them really felt urgent or momentous, and they were all neatly cleaned up in a chapter or so. There wasn't much tension or action throughout the story to keep you reading or to pull it all together into a solid story. It felt very disjointed, with the first half being the story of one relationship and the second half being another story of a completely different relationship. There isn't really a solid plot throughout, and I wouldn't say there was big character development either.
I wanted to like this one, but overall, I was bored and didn't get much out of it.
