We follow Tilly, an A&E nurse who’s used to handling chaos—just not in her personal life. When her flatmate suddenly gets a girlfriend and her sister announces she wants another baby, Tilly starts to wonder if being single is still working for her.

Then along comes Dr Luke. Great hair, loads of charm, and definitely not short on attention from the rest of the hospital. He’s a welcome distraction, but is he really the right guy for Tilly, or is she just eager to find someone?

This book was a super easy read. Short chapters, funny moments, and a fast start. But I’ll be honest—the pacing dropped off toward the end. And the romance? It felt rushed. One minute it’s a slow build, the next it’s suddenly wrapped up without much emotional payoff.

What really kept me reading were the side characters. Mike, Sarah, Jonathan, Will, Tash—they brought in some really fun subplots. In fact, I was almost more invested in them than the main love story.

If you like light reads, a hospital setting, and solid humour, give this one a go. Just don’t expect a slow-burn romance or a super deep emotional connection.

What a way to open a book!

Our main character Tilly works in A&E as a senior nurse happily living her single life until Dr. Luke shows up.

At first the book felt reminiscent to reading some of my favourite Marian Keyes books but then the pacing and narrative became disjointed and the flow just wasn’t working for me. There were scenes that I thought would be fleshed out that were glossed over and the pacing felt choppy.

I really liked the premise but the writing didn’t quite translate. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read the book in advance.

I love Phoebe MacLeod’s book. This was a lovely story with some well developed characters. I raced through it !

The opening is one heck of a way to start a book!

The story isn't what I was expecting but I enjoyed it all the same and in the end - as with most romances - it does become predictable.

This is light and easy to read - I read it in two days.

I found it varied considerably between fast and slow paced. Starting at a pretty decent pace then getting quite slow at the end, before the end just wrapped up too quickly. Like there wasn't much time for us to get to feel the couples emotions or relationship. It was just a will they/won't they, and bam they have - story over. Which is why I only gave 3* - I really enjoyed it until this part.

I loved the side characters, they made the story so enjoyable for me.

This book is not for me. I don’t love the first person present tense, and the author makes odd choices regarding what to show and what to tell. She shows several slow conversations in the first quarter of the book, then tells the reader a first date happened. I would be more interested to read about the first date and skip over the phone conversations with her sister and explanation of past family drama that really doesn’t seem relevant. I will not be reviewing elsewhere.

Set against the lively backdrop of an A&E department, this book offers a breezy romance with shades of a medical drama. Tilly, an emergency nurse, quickly finds herself entangled with a new doctor—but not everything is as it seems. The twist, while a bit predictable, adds a touch of drama to an otherwise light, fast-paced read.

MacLeod’s writing style is smooth and engaging, making the novel easy to digest. However, character development feels uneven. Tilly can be frustrating—she swings from heartbroken and emotionally needy to impatient and demanding with startling speed, especially when her romantic interest doesn’t match her pace. The relationship lacks the chemistry and slow-burn tension that typically makes a romance spark. Instead, it moves from awkward to official with little buildup, making the love story feel a bit unearned.

While it may not be a standout for die-hard romance fans, it holds appeal for readers looking for something quick, contemporary, and set in a familiar, fast-paced environment.

This book wasn’t for me, Tilly is a nurse in A&E, when Dr Luke walks in. Will love blossom between them? I likedTilly, but she was playing the same role in 2 books, the first half was all about the romance between Dr Luke, but the second is all about a second romance. The story needed more flow, it was a story told over 2 half’s. It was an easy quick read though. 3 star read. Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy.

Unfortunately for me, I felt that this book fell flat for me. I was genuinely looking forward to a workplace romance, especially with the cover emphasising that that is what I was getting myself into. Oh, how I was wrong. It felt like I had been cheated out of the story I thought I was getting, especially with a tag line like 'What happens on the night shift, says on the night shift'. I had hoped for a steamy, Grey's Anatomy-esque romance, instead, I had a severe case of whiplash.

At the 70% mark, I had hoped for something that would redeem this book, but I was left disappointed. Yes, I was happy that our FMC found the happy ending she was looking for, but as the reader, I was frustrated that there wasn't an actual storyline to hook me into. I felt like I knew more about the people in the FMC's life than I did about her, her needs, desires, etc.

The one thing I absolutely enjoyed was the opening chapter. That hooked me in, and I was so excited by the prospect of the story. As a rule for myself and the way I review ARCs, I have no published a public review of this book. I understand that this wasn't the book for me, but someone else may resonnate with it more and I would rather them leave a positive review than have mine influence others not to engage with the work at all.

I love Phoebe and her writing style, but this one did not do it for me. I feel like the emotional development wasn’t there, it was lackluster.

3.5 stars rounded up. while I liked this book it did fall a bit flat for me. the Romance was sweet but felt rushed. still a good quick read.

I really enjoyed this book as a great bit of escapism. It had me laughing out loud, gasping with horror and smiling at the sweetness of some people. It did feel like there were two very different halves to the book but it didn’t take away the enjoyment for me.

I enjoyed Love, Accidentally. It was quite predictable but an easy read. Some characters were more likeable than others!

The premise of the book was great; the scenary of the story reminded me of medical shows (which I'm a fan of); and the story did explored the idea of working in a hospital and the work it takes to being a nurse. However, I did had a lot of problems regarding the pacing of the story. It felt like two different stories, and all the plot of Luke took too long (almost 50% of the book); making the latter half and the romantic plot to feel a bit rushed. You could really notice the difference in character between Luke and Will, which is great because of everything regarding Luke's arc... however it felt as if Will story was not well developed. The ending was cute.
One of the things I like was how the other relationships were developed and the important roll they played in the FMC life. At the end, it was her journey, and the way she view relations and accept a relation on her own life.

This was an easy and light read. As are all of her books. Personally I’ve liked others better but I did enjoy it.

This was a confusing read?

The first half gave a COMPLETELY different story to the second half which fell flat and failed to grab my attention at all.

It felt so disjointed and messy, there was no structure to this book and it really ruined any sort of enjoyment for me.

The only thing that gripped me was the drama that the mum orchestrated between Luke and Tilly and Cind lmao it was the only worthwhile entertainment during the whole book.

Overall, I didn’t enjoy this book unfortunately despite really wanting to.

Love, Accidentally follows the ups and downs of A&E nurse Tilly’s adventures in love. The first half of the book is spent on her relationship with fellow A&E doctor Luke, but the second half is an about face with a new relationship.

Throughout reading, I kept thinking I was on the cusp of being pulled in. I almost DNF’d several times, and looking back I wish I had. Typically I can read a book this length in a couple of days, but this one took me an entire month because I just wasn’t that interested.

I don’t understand why the author spent so much time on Tilly’s relationship with Luke. It felt like she had multiple plot ideas and was trying hard to force them together. I wish we’d have gotten a recap of Tilly’s relationship in the first couple of chapters, maybe a flashback or two, and spent the rest of the time focusing on the relationship between Tilly and <spoiler>Will.</spoiler>

I also felt like the struggles from her relationship with Luke and her new boyfriend’s past relationship were manufactured. I just didn’t buy it. It would’ve made a lot more sense if he was having trouble because he was dealing with the loss of his mom, or something else altogether for Tilly - maybe her overbearing mom? Who knows.

The plot was all over the place, and while that was frustrating enough, I just didn’t like the writing. I didn’t understand why certain scenes had so much page-time dedicated to them, while other points in the plot involved time jumps. There was also a lot of “telling” instead of “showing,” especially at the ends of chapters. It felt like the author didn’t know how else to show character development or struggles other than spelling out the thoughts Tilly was having. That’s a big pet peeve for me in books, and it happened a lot here.

I hate rating books less than 3 stars because I know authors put so much into writing a book, but this one was just a struggle for me.

I'm undecided about Love, Accidentally by Phoebe MacLeod. I like the fact that, apart from the major plot twist, there are no stupidly unbelievable and overly dramatic turns. Tilly talks a good romantic game but her actions don't match. She's very slow to catch on to Luke, and the whole denouement of that plotline is ridiculous. I also found it hard to warm to the main characters but enjoyed the minor ones. Not Phoebe's best, I feel, but not terrible.

This was a cute and easy read, but it did not fully. hit the mark for me. The characters were likable, and the setup had potential, but it felt a little rushed. With that said, facts of light rom-coms would enjoy this book for a quick escape.

Felt a little all over the place at times and I wanted more concrete development of the characters and relationships but I thought the author did a good job of handling pretty sensitive medical topics.

Spoiler alert but not sure what the relevance of the guy with the penis issues was? Such a random side note and the fact that he came back again toward the end?? Why?

A quick read. I honestly skimmed a lot because I was bored and the emotional connection was lacking.

It had potentially and I was excited for another Doctor romance but this did not do it for me.
