Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. This book drew me on from the beginning and I could not put it down!! Jessa is a bus driver for a private school and on her way to drop off the children at daycare she ran into a detour that didn’t seem quite right. She should have went with her instincts!! As the events unfold I had to keep reading to find out what happened! Definitely recommend!!

Second novel by Noel West Ihli and second to hit a solid five starts. The rabbit hole this sent me down after reading was insane. I had no idea this was based on true evens and the details are harrowing.

This novel is so intense and stressful but I couldn't put it down. The pacing was perfection and the multiple POVs made the story. If you have time after reading, I highly suggest googling Chowchilla to learn more about this real life incident.

This book was absolutely amazing. Will be going and reading all of her work because she's just incredible. A solid 5 stars and I promise you will bawl and the ending. Thank you NetGalley for this arc!! One of my favorites of the year so far.

The fact that this was inspired by true events is actually horrifying. You expect school systems and employees to keep your babies safe, but sometimes the wildest things can happen.

I will be doing a rabbit hole- deep dive into this story now.

Thank you to Dynamite Books and NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this arc in exchange for my honest opinion!

Noelle W. Ihli's "Such Quiet Girls" tells the story of a group of children kidnapped from their aftercare bus and held hostage in a buried storage container. This multi-POV thriller focuses on two of the children, their mother, the bus driver, and one of the kidnappers and is written in short, page-turning chapters.

I found the story and the characters to be really interesting. The POVs were all distinct and well-developed. Ihli writes the children in a very believable and appropriate way, from the reactions and behaviors to the dialogue. Even the precocious tween protagonist felt age appropriate, which really helped to keep me invested in the story; it's always distracting when kids are written in an over-the-top way, but this felt right to me across the board. As a mother myself, my heart was deeply invested in the story. I also remember watching a made-for-TV movie in the 90s based on the Chowchilla school bus abductions, which has managed to stick with me all these years later. This book is based on that event, which the author mentions in her notes. It's a fascinating story and well worth the dive down the rabbit hole.

The weakest part of the story for me was the kidnappers. They seemed a little bit cliched; one is heartless, and one is sympathetic to the victims. One is bumbling and unreliable, and the other is calculated, etc. The storyline with the girls' mom also slowed the pacing from time to time, and it was hard to follow where she was and what she was doing at times. I also had to go back and double-check because the kidnappers initially mentioned leaving flashlights in the buried container, but they never came up again and didn't factor into the story. Not sure if that was an oversight or not, but it did nag at me.

As far as trigger warnings, the story, of course, revolves around young children in peril. Those with claustrophobia might find this book unsettling, as it definitely conveys a sense of confinement and the constant threat of suffocation and being buried alive. There's also a drinking and domestic abuse component to one of the characters' stories and a minor plot point around a character with Alzheimer's that might hit a bit close to home for some.

Fans of true crime and suspense stories with children at the heart will likely enjoy this story. Readers who enjoy Ihli's other books will enjoy this one as well. It's a very fast and engaging read.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the advanced read.

Amazing novel. It has multiple POVS, but it was easy to follow. Each character brought a fresh perspective that added depth to the story and made it even more engaging. I found myself completely immersed in each storyline, and the shifting POVs kept the pacing dynamic and exciting. The author did a great job of giving each voice a unique tone, making it easy to connect with the characters on a deeper level.

Wow - social media is HOT for this book, and after reading an ARC, I can see why! An easy 5 star read; a perfect compliment to your beach trip or summer hammock. "Such Quiet Girls" starts off with a bang - a bus full of children on their way to school aftercare is suddenly stopped while on a detour. Who is stopping them, why, and is their driver, who obviously has a secret of her own, involved? What happens to the bus full of girls when they are suddenly thrust into a life-or-death situation with time and oxygen running out?

Imagine my shock when I discovered that this twisty and stomach-dropping tale is actually based on true events! True crime fans that love a great fiction read: this one is for you!

I found this to be such an immersive read and finished in just one day. The pacing is perfect, the situation is believable enough to be truly horrifying, and the ending has a clean wrap. What more could you ask for in a thriller?! This is the one to put on your TBR this summer!

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an ARC of "Such Quiet Girls" in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.

Absolutely a fantastic read! This was my first book by Noelle Ihli and she didn’t disappoint, I wasn’t aware this was based on a true story. 10 children and their bus driver Jessa are all kidnapped and buried alive inside a shipping container. From that moment on I just wanted to jump inside the book and rescue them from those evil men. It was suspenseful and terrifying all at the same time! I give it 5 stars…

In a parents worse nightmare, what is a mother to do? She finds herself, having to save her own 2 girls and several others. A kidnapping, money trail, and a brave young girl put the pieces together for an adventure no one should ever have to go through.

This was a heart-wrenching read as a mom. Putting myself in Sheena and Jessa's shoes made this so tense and emotional for me.

Beautifully crafted characters, and a moving story behind the thrills as well.

It was un-putdownable for me. and I will be searching out more work from this author. .

Ihli is quickly becoming one of my favourite authors. She captivates her audience within the first chapter and holds their attention right to the very end. Jessa is a bus driver, looking to get her life back on track, when everything gets turned upside down. I didn't realize that this book was based on true events when I started reading it, and now it is even more chilling to think about. This is the harrowing story of one woman and several children who are taken from their daycare bus and held for ransom. What becomes clear as the story unfolds, is that Jessa has always been an unsung hero; both in her daughter's life and with the children. Oldest child, Sage's grit and determination keep hope alive for the children. This book does a great job of questioning the intent of decisions, and the consequences of actions. Thank you to #Netgalley and #DynamiteBooks for the Arc.

Noelle does it again! I flew through this book so fast. It is crazy to believe this is based on a true story. I liked how it had the point of view of all sides. The kidnapper, a parent, a child victim, and an adult victim. Being told from all of those sides gave it a full picture of the thoughts and feelings and what goes through peoples minds in a situation like this. It may have not been the true story of those people but it could be who knows! The true story is similar and just crazy. Her books seem like the most crazy things that could happen that you would only read about in a book that is made up but then you realize these stories are based off of real life events and your mind is blown that these things can happen in real life. I anxiously await the next book by this author.

Really enjoyed this. There was a lot of suspense and thrill in certain parts, particularly towards the end, however the beginning there was not a lotttt happening? It was a very good real but not so much my heart was palpating?? More just like omg what’s gonna happen!! The ending was also very quick.

Bonnie and Sage are my faves!!

Thank you for the ARC.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. I was really looking forward to this one; it had all the elements that usually pull me in, and I wanted to love it. But unfortunately, it just didn’t land for me.

Even though the story is based on real-life events, I found it really hard to connect with. The pacing was slow, and I kept waiting for it to pick up or grab me emotionally, but it never quite got there. There wasn’t much thrill or urgency, and while it wasn’t bad, it just felt flat. I gave it 2.5 stars because the premise had potential, and I could see how it might work for other readers, which given by all these fabulous reviews, it did. But for me, it was just… meh.

How does a whole school bus go missing? The premise of this book is based on a true case in Chowchilla, CA of a group of children being kidnapped from their bus and buried alive. While fictionalized, readers will likely hold that thought in the back of their mind, making this story all the more terrifying. Told through multiple perspectives, including one of the children and the kidnapper, readers get insight into all aspects of what’s happening. This book was fast-paced and gripping. It’s a must read for both those who know about the true case and just any mystery reader interested in this plot.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
