I adore Stephen Graham Jones and he continues to be one of my favourite horror authors. This reminded me that I need to get into his short stories as I have only read his full length novels.
I think it is interesting that he explored office dynamics and motherhood. I would be curious to see him do more with those themes. I was just getting into this and then it was over.

This was a really interesting story; I was also very impressed by the narrator. The premise is unique and strange. Everything involving an elevator gives me the creeps, it is a trigger of mine and this story got me there. I’ve read one full novel and a couple of stories by Stephen Graham Jones and his writing style is usually very heavy for me to read and comprehend. But in this one the writing is actually very digestible and it flew buy so quickly. And yet, it was satisfying, there was an emotional nuance and an original plot, that I appreciate so much, especially when it comes to a short format storytelling. Highly recommend.
Thank you to NetGalley and Brilliance Publishing for providing me with the ALC.

The Indigo Room by Stephen Graham Jones and narrated by Kyla Garcia is a gripping horror story. Set in an office, the Indigo room is the name of a conference room in this office. It is where our protagonist, through a trick of the light, first sees her colleague with a missing head and another colleague with a missing hand. The day is already going badly, and then Jennifer's ex drops off their son - and could it possibly get worse? Don't answer that. This is a short story and part of the shivers collection. I listened to an ALC of the audiobook and Kyla Garcia expertly narrates the story. It is incredibly atmospheric and tense. I thoroughly enjoyed this short story horror. This story is part of The Shivers Collection of horror short stories. Thank you to Brilliance Publishing and Net Galley for my ALC.

Thank you Netgalley!
This was good but ngl I expected more from SGJ, a lot of his stories really dig into me and this was just middle of the road. A quick easy little book though :)

A creepy short story about an office meeting room that seems to offer glimpses of what's to come in a dark way. The main character is a single mom co-parenting her young son with her ex-husband, trying to juggle the stresses of parenthood and work expectations. Not my favorite thing from SGJ but interesting and creepy. The audio narration is good. I received an audio review copy via NetGalley, all opinions are my own.
